Stephanie's age in the Disney World episode: they aired that out of order on ABC Family, I guess. I think she would have been in 5th grade, though, which is still "pushing it" to win a 'Princess for a Day' contest. When I was in 5th grade, I actually thrust an autograph book at "Alice in Wonderland" (Disneyworld) and she rudely asked "aren't you a little old..." Seriously....
DJ and Steve were needlessly serious. For some reason it rather annoyed me when DJ and Steve would hang out with Danny and Vicky and Jesse and Becky as if they were all the same age...

Thank you! And Dj had that little hissy fit when they all went on the Dating Show because she and Steve didn't know eachother as well as Jesse and Becky (hello! they're married!). It was sickening. I could see if they had been college age and on the marriage track, but it was a bit much for me.

Did anyone else catch the E! True Hollywood Story of Full House this evening? It didn't particularly reveal any major revelations about the show or anything that happened behind scenes, but it was pretty fun to watch.

Except that they had to cover anything and everything on the Olsens. Hearing more about anyone else would have been much more interesting.
I loved the parts that covered everyone else though. Too bad they wasted about an hour on the Olsens.

I watched it as well. What was funny to me was how the producers set the show up to all revealing and one step shy of scandalous (at least that's how I took it). It was all, GASP! Bob and John don't like it other! Then two seconds later, "But they resolved that tension quickly." Oh heavens! What wonderful behind the scenes dirt. [/sarcasm]

Am I the only one who thought DJ and Steve were awfully serious to be in high school?
Nope. I thought so too.
Just caught their break-up at lunch today. DJ asked "Where is the heat? Where is the passion?"
Why do they have a 16-17 year old saying that?! Before I could even begin to ponder that question I started thinking that perhaps if the show went on, we could find out (on a very special episode) that Steve was gay. Afterall, 18 year old guys usually don't have too much trouble generating heat with their girlfriends......Red flag.

And DJ would be traumatized, and as a result, become the slut of San Francisco. Danny would have to intervene to give one of his patented Dad/daughter talks about the dangers of STD's. DJ would confess all of her deep dark secrets (to her dad. At age 17.) Heartwarming music would start up, and without a doubt, DJ would grin and end the talk with a "Thanks, Dad." The two would then joke and laugh as they wandered downstairs to gather around for a family meal. Aaaaaaaand....scene.

I caught part of an episode the other day - I guess Danny's recently asked Vicki to marry him, and she cooks dinner for the family.
I turned it off because I couldn't bear what I knew, remembered vividly, word-for-word, what happened at dinner: Vicki makes something with pesto, I think, and something with goat cheese, and everyone wrinkles their noses as though they're being served the most repulsive things in the world. Stephanie and Michelle say, "What is this stuff?" and "Gah-rooosssss!" and make faces. Even DJ and the adults act like ungrateful, unmannerly oafs.
I remember thinking when I saw it the first time that I'd have slapped all three rude, country-ass brats as hard as I could and hightailed it out of there.

It's a shame that the producers decided to kick Vicki out, just because it "wouldn't keep the show as good". I think it would have been better if Danny and Vicki got married.

Is that seriously why they called off their engagement? The evil pesto?

No, it was because the producers felt that a married Danny would go against the premise of a single man raising his kids.

I was so happy that Vicky took the job. I braced myself for that awful cliche storyline in which the person gets offered a great job far away, goes to the airport, then the loved one makes some sappy "I love you, please don't go" speech, and the person agrees not to go, and everyone in the airport applauds. It's almost always the woman who chooses to bypass the great job, by the way. So, yeah, I was actually impressed that they let Vicky go.

I was so disappointed that Danny and Vickie broke up and didn't stay together. I mean come on, why not? The girls would all have left and Jesse's family would have left eventually too. What would have happened to Danny since Joey got a g/f at the end too? Ugh, I loved Vickie!

Hahah why does everyone hate Michelle? I thought she was so cute and adorable. I know no one likes the older Olsens now but what was wrong w/ MK&A when they were kids? I thought they were fantastic in FH, even if they were a bit annoying and bratty.

On the whole, I thought Michelle was annoying because she was treated like a little princess while the older girls, especially Stephanie, were more or less treated normally. (This may strike a nerve because I am The Neglected Middle Child of my family.) Also, I felt as though the writers were trying to shove her debateable adorableness down our throats, like with the repeated and incredibly tiresome catchphrase of "you got it, dude!" and the over-the-top cooing and applauding from the obviously drugged studio audience.
I never had anything in particular against the Olsens because I believe they were more or less shoved into the industry by their parents so they could become their little cashcows. I don't have anything against them today, either; I just want to pry the Starbucks from their tiny, tiny fingers and feed them both.

They couldn't act to save their lives. It was so obvious to me that there was someone offstage telling them what to say. The show did a lousy job of editing. They recited their lines like little robots. They had absolutely no clue what they were saying. And the "audience" would laugh at everything they did like it was the funniest thing ever. And I always hated how the writers had them acting like miniature adults instead of toddlers. There were alot of occasions when Michelle needed a good spanking. She got away with alot of things that Stephanie and DJ would have gotten punished for. Simply because they all thought she was "cute".
It's one thing for them to recite their lines but they had absolutely no clue what any of it meant. I think they would have been much cuter and alot less irritating if they had been written a little more realistically. I thought Jodie Sweetin did a much better job then the Olsen twins when the show first started. And she was written much better.

They had the "Roxie insults the family" episode. I can see inserting jokes about stupid Danny and Rebecca and even Jesse(since he was the club owner) but who CARES about DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Plus, I hate jokes when the situations comedians describe obviously did not really happen(like the who-would-care-if-they-had-happened descriptions of the Tanner girls fights). It's just something that bugs me.
Speaking of things that bug me, Joey's condescending behavior at the dinner table... "Roxie is just trying to be open in honest with you," said in a tone of voice usually reserved for reading stories to preschoolers.
And what was with the recycling of Star Search guests? Probably because they were on "Full House" shortly enough afterward, I recall both "Roxie" and "Derek" being on 'Star Search' (Roxie told jokes about her voice and Derek sang Broadway-type songs--huge change from their characters). Was it because of the "Star Search" episode(even though that was a few years before). They never picked cast "Star Search" contestants I really enjoyed (like Geechie Guy and Taylor Mason and his dummy).

Most people don't like Michelle because everyone flocked to her when she had a problem, while if DJ or Stephanie pulled anything she did, they would have been ridiculed. Also, it was REALLY annoying how Michelle got almost all the storylines of the last few seasons. Danny obviously played favorites with Michelle.

I wonder if the Michelle hate has anything to do with how old you were when you first watched the show? As an adult watching the show when it first came on I thought Michelle was a cute baby, Stephanie was a little charmer and DJ was old before her time.
As the girls got older I didn't like the way the show basically became the Jessie & Michelle show and everyone else was reduced to being supporting parts.
I didn't blame 6 yr old twins for it though! That was clearly a decision made by the producers and carried out by the writers for reasons that just may have made some sense given how incredibly popular the Olsen twins still when they left the show.

I just saw that episode as well. Horrible, skanky Michelle. She really does get away with everything, which I never noticed til I started re-watching the show and coming to this thread. The second she isn't getting all of the attention, she acts atrociously (I just saw another ep where she sabotaged the house showing being she didn't want to move). Yet she is completely justified since her intentions are always noble and sweet and exist to teach us the lesson of the week.
What was up with DJ's boyfriend who was in Jesse's band? I don't remember him at all. Speaking of Jesse's band, my god, the early 90s were not a good time for fashion.

I found a thoroughly random and highly amusing

My favorite part:
"Joey Gladstone. The name makes you smile. But what of Joey’s smile? Is it the smile of a well-adjusted man-child with a penchant for impersonating spinach-infatuated sailors, or the cracked sneer of a heroin-addicted loudmouth that can’t come to terms with his inability to connect?"

I totally agree. I loathe Michelle, but as far as real people go, I never have and still don't dislike the Olsens. The real people (as opposed to tv characters) that I hate are the writers who made up all of the Michelle plots, the audience members who oohed and ahhed over her, the person who encourages the audience to make those sounds, the execs who decided to start centering the show around Michelle, and the people in the general public who thought she was the most adorable kid ever.
