Who saw the Tommy Page episode of FH a few days ago?
I caught that one. I didn't know who he was back when it was first on, and I was 7-8 so maybe I should have. Oh well, I hated NKOTB when I was little too.

Tommy Page was a New Kid? Is that why we were supposed to have known who he was and presumably let out a girly scream when he appeared? Pfft.

Tommy Page was a New Kid?
I have never heard of Tommy Page, but I do know the New Kids (I know, I know, but I was young and stupid). A little Googling of Tommy Page's name let me know that he did open for the New Kids back in the day, but was not actually a member.

He toured with NKOTB, and they were always in the teen magazines at the same time. I didn't make that clear in my first post. For future reference, the New Kids are:
Jonathan, Joe (now Joey), Donnie, Danny and Jordan. No Tommy.

And it wasn't just that, I thought all of Joey's comedy was totally lame.
And wasn't Joey supposed to be a full-time (if you can call it that) comedian before he got the advertising gig? That's just sad.
I was watching an episode the other day where Jesse has these girls over to practice one of his jingles and one of the girls gets all giggly and says, "OMG!! You're Joey Gladstone! You're sooooo funny!!" And she dates him later on as well. There were so many gag-worthy moments in that episode...

The one thing that bothers me more than anything else (because I'm a freak) is when people call Joey "Uncle Joey". It's "Joey" and "Uncle Jesse". Jesse is related, Joey is not. Stop the madness!
THANKyou.. god that annoys me! I mentioned something about it upthread and it still gets to me. And it's everywhere, VH1, radio stations.. calling him Uncle Joey. It's an epidemic. He's not an uncle! He's the weird guy that lives in the basement!
TrollJoey... excelllllent (/Mr Burns).
And did you notice that TrollJoey's friends had horrible jokes too? He dated some comedian who made fun of the Tanner family, and the insults weren't even bad enough to make someone cry in a Disney movie. They acted like someone ran over Comet. And everyone else in the crowd laughed like they were going to pee themselves!
That's just plain annoying. His jokes weren't funny, his pajamas were scary, he had a hockey mullet, and I know he played hockey.. but c'mon now! He was just... icky.

I hated the comedian he dated because she wasn't funny, but she was still ten times funnier than Joey. And her insults? Lame. Especially the one about DJ, Michelle and Stephanie. That whole episode was so stupid.

My memory is fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure she "insulted" Jesse's hair, and Danny and Becky on their show. I think she said something about how it shouldn't be called Wake Up San Francisco because it really puts you to sleep. Or something else horribly offensive like that. I think she said how much the girls fight, which isn't insulting or funny really.

I used to get bugged by this because I knew the girls didn't call him Uncle Joey, but then I saw one of the episodes with Nicky and Alex and apparently, when referring to Joey, Jesse and Becky called him Uncle Joey to the boys. However, he was not their freaking uncle, so it kinda still bugs me.

Yeah, it was something along those lines, although I can't remember the exact wording. I just remember rolling my eyes so far back I thought they'd fall out.
Calling Joey "Uncle Joey" never really bothered me, because my family had really close friends that I always called uncles. But none of them had creepy puppets. Thank God.

What I actually meant was people referring to the show calling him Uncle Joey. Like
YourDensity pointed out, people on VH1, etc. have been doing this. If they called him that on the show, even if he wasn't related, then that's what his his name would be. I would have no problem with that.

OK guys, I have a great memory, I can fill you in on the super burns the comedian was passing out during her show:
Jesse: she claimed that an oil spill in Alaska was Jesse washing the grease and hair products out of his comb
Becky and Danny: She said the show should be called Go Back to Bed San Francisco, and that she wishes she had a mute button when she talked to them in real life
The girls: That they argued and are like the "three stooges in panty hose"
Anyway, these aren't great, but she was funnier than Joey ever was (his and his damn woodchuck and 'cut-it-out').

Worst Joey "impressions" ever - Sammy Davis Jr. (no, it wasn't just Jesse who did these impressions) and Wayne Newton (at least I think that's who he was imitating...you know, when he would be singing some song, use his fist as a mic and pull it away from his mouth, thereby cutting off the words).

The only thing in Joey's stand-up that I ever thought was funny was from the Star Search episode wear he did his Popeye routine and finished it off with having the microphone stand do an impression of Olive Oyl. I thought that was pretty amusing.

What bugged me about Jesse and Joey is that they never seemed to have one job. I know people change careers alot, but every year they had like, four different jobs. Jesse was an exterminator, then a bandleader, then an ad exec, then a club owner, then an assistant on the stupid Ranger Joe Show, then a DJ. Joey was a comedian, an ad exec, a tv personality, a DJ.
I mean, don't you need like.. credentials to get some of these jobs? They were like Barbie, they never had just one job. It sort of bugged me.
Plus, the Smash Club would have been considered lame IRL, 5 yr olds are allowed there, they serve coffee? Kid bands play regularly. And Rush Hour Renegades had "Yakking with Youth" or "Teen Talk" (gag) and played non-cool music. Lame.

Feb 25, 2004 @ 2:11 pm
Well, the whole point of the smash club was to cater to the junior high and high school crowd--it wasn't a place meant for anyone over 18. I remember right before Jesse fixed up the club Steve, DJ, and Kimmy were whining about all the fun places being 18 or 21 plus.
I have seen every single episode of Full House, and I don't think Joey was ever funny. His jokes were all stupid. I liked the voice he did for Mr. Woodchuck, but his "wood" routine was annoying. I actually thought Jesse had most of the funny lines in the show.

IIRC, didn't Joey become an ad exec (geez, that sounds impossible) only after he suggested something to Jesse and a dim lightbulb went on in Jesse's head telling him that he needed a partner. However, I have no recollection of how Jesse became an ad exec...he just showed up playing jingles on his keyboard one day and nobody wondered why.

Yes, Kimmy Gibbler had some good lines, particularly when she was making fun of Danny. I loved the episode where Danny comes walking into the kitchen with bicycle shorts, and Kimmy says, "You know Mr. T, spandex is not for everyone." Funny stuff. I didn't like it when the three men would gang up on Kimmy, because it seems kind of sad for an adult to be sparring with an eleven year old, and some of their comments were fairly malicious. I always liked Kimmy; she reminded me of my friend from second grade, who was horribly obnoxious and undisciplined, but to an eight year old seemed pretty fearless and bad-ass.

That red mumu/cape thing must've been in style in the early '90s cuz heck, Becky was fashionable... As fashionable as you could get at that time with the bitter taste of the '80s still lingering.
An episode popped into my head the other day: the one where Danny and Joey or Jesse dig up some time capsule they had buried. Anyone remember with who Danny had made and buried it? And what was in it?
I dunno, it just popped into my head and I was wondering.

It was Danny and Joey who had buried the time capsule, each with a thing they valued most. Then they did another one at the end of the episode, calling Jesse to participate and telling him to bring his hair dryer (which I thought was hysterical).

This is probably a common trait of sitcoms, but I've finally realized that none of the three dads ever completely learn their own lessons. Like the episode where Stephanie decides to take dance, and starts to hate it because her dad gets completely obsessed with her getting good. I was watching Full House yesterday - it was the one where Michelle is trying desperately to learn how to read. So, she says to Danny, "Look...I know how to spell "alphabet"! A-B-C-D-E-F-G..." etc. When she tops it all off with the "..now I know my ABC's, next time won't you sing with me!" the audience goes into full-on, standing ovation-like, applause (and possibly several "woo-hoos!" too).
First of all, you're an idiot Michelle. Secondly, What. The. Fuck? Please let it have been canned applause...
