word on the Dawson hate...words can not express how much i wanted him and his ginormous forehead to drown in that creek.
while we're at it, let me throw in Joey Potter, because honestly? can't understand WHAT people saw in this girl. She is boring, self absorbed, and has two toned hair. She and Dawson deserve eachother, now and forever
Over in The OC (bitch), i have to extend my deep hatred to Marissa Cooper(the bot) and Oliver (Mr. Lip Sweat himself. side note, he was on Dawson's Creek- seeing a pettern...?). I don't really know if it is Mischa Barton that kills Marissa, or if she is poorly written, but that is one self absorbed, spoiled character. This is a girl who gets drunk and lashes out at her boyfriend (the beautiful Ryan Atwood, why would anyone yell at him?), all the while knowing he was just abandoned by a drunk raving lunatic (much like herself). Add to that the obvious fact that Marissa has no personality and you get one awful character.
Oliver is smarmy, and he is a stalker. Also he fabricates girlfriends, implies that Ryan did not love Marissa (i still don't think he does, but Oliver? SHUT UP), and continues to ignore his sweaty lip. He obviously has bad judgement if he is interestd in Marissa, but like I said of Dawson and Joey, theese two desrve each other. I hope they live happily ever after in that psych ward in San Diego that Julie wanted to send Marissa to, because that is where these two belong

The Speed Network showed Speed Racer all day yesterday. It was a clever way to get the name of their network mentioned about 100,000 times. There's no one to love on that show, but I must express how much I hate Trixie. It seems that Trixie exists to get angry when Speed looks at other girls. (When I was younger and skinnier, I was told I looked like Trixie. I don't care, I still hate her.)
In one scene, Speed tells Trixie she looks "groovy" and could they please get going. Trixie says that there are a lot of pretty girls in Japan (they were in Japan for this episode, and, see, they aren't Japanese) and she needs to look especially good so that Speed won't look at any of them. Spritle* (sp?) says that Trixie's been getting ready for three hours. Healthy, Trixie, healthy.
*After telling on Trixie, Spritle then wonders where Chim-Chim is, saying "He told me he was just going to take a bath." He told you? I guess Spritle and Chim-Chim communicate telepathically.

Now I'm going to express an opinion in which I am well aware I am virtually alone: The SEINFELD cast.

Nikki Newman from The Young and the Restless. Forever and ever, Amen, you stripper wench.

Jan 3, 2004 @ 9:31 pm
Oh, now, you see, I love Nikki. But for a long time I hated Ashley Abbott fiercely, for her smug moral superiority while she was carrying on an affair with Nikki's husband, Victor.
I reserve a special pocket of hatred for characters who do that. When John Hudson and Felicia Gallant had their affair on AW, their smugness towards John's wife Sharlene was overwhelming and it destroyed both characters for me. Felicia, who I had once liked enormously, was redeemed somewhat after she and John broke up and she ended up married to a much younger Russian writer who married her to stay in the country and then fell for her. Classic soap stuff.

That doesn't surprise me. And, where did he get that ego? He heads a cosmetic(?) corporation in fucking Genoa City! If it were a real town, you probably wouldn't be able to find it on a map.
TudorQueen
Jan 3, 2004 @ 11:36 pm
I think the cosmetics thing is only part of Newman Enterprises, but it gets a lot of attention because of the rivalry with the Abbotts and therefore Jabot, which really is 'just' a cosmetic company. Every soap has at least one of these multinational corporations located in their small town. It's an oddity of soaps that they have these multimillionaires, along with a huge international airport, a world-class university and in some cases royalty, a mafia family to rival the Corleones, and doctors who can handle everything from multiple personality disorder to heart-lung transplants to raising the dead.
It's Soapland, that's all.

So much hate, so little time! There are characters that we're supposed to hate, and characters that are just sort of annoying. And then there are these characters who I want to beat to death with a rake:
Serena from L&O. Oh, how happy I was when this prop, I mean "actress", left Angel. Little did I know.
And from Angel, Kate of course.
Amy from Judging Amy. World's worst single mom, world's worst judge.
The BtVS hate-so-much award goes to...Buffy herself. She evolved from a likable teen into a complete jerk. In the real world she would have had to face The First by herself after her friends told her where to stick it.
On ER? It's a difficult choice, but Carter can just stay in the Congo for all I care. Seriously, they dropped the chopper on the wrong guy.
Remember way back when Northern Exposure was still on? Remember the new doctor who showed up after Joel left? Hate! Die yuppie scum!!
And finally, the one character that Smallville needs to kill painfully is Lana. I was going to do a little leg-pulling here and say Lionel, but I don't have very good medical coverage. :)

Mary Marsh, a religious-right character who has appeared on The West Wing twice. She is such a sanctimonious bitch that she needs to be slapped into oblivion. At least in the pilot ep, POTUS had the pleasure of doing so. This character absolutely grates!

Professor Bobo from MST3K. Started out as a somewhat intelligent foil for Pearl and the utterly loathesome Doctor Peanut. Check out the Lawgiver Days Parade sequence for a fine example of his earlier, funnier personality. When Earth was destroyed and Peanut was hurtled back through time he became instantly incompetent, to the point where he couldn't even bathe himself. His old personality and comedic function were both transferred to Brain Guy. All of Bobo's "comedy" from then on was based on how stupid or physically vile he was. When he disappeared down a wormhole for a few episodes, I'd hoped that the writers had finally come to their senses, and that he'd never be seen again. No such luck, though.
On Buffy, Kennedy was painful to watch, but at least she wasn't in as many episodes as Riley. The character was perfectly boring and boringly perfect, and the actor delivered most of his lines in a bemused monotone, with his face frozen into an idiotic grin. May possibly have been the secret lovechild of Lance Fuller (Brack from This Island Earth and Doctor Ted Erickson from The She-Creature.

But at least Riley left.
As much as I loathe Kennedy, though, most of my BtVS-character hate goes to Dawn. Yes, she did get a tad less annoying in the last season. Yes, she didn't even become a slayer. But...
Her very existence altered the fifteen years of characters' memories. She never developed a character, had absolutely nothing (positive) to add to the show and was a total waste of time. She shouldn't have kept existing after season 5. She. Is. Not. Real! Do you hear me, Joss? NOT. FUCKING. REAL!!!

I'm addicted to Melrose Place reruns on Style and I cannot begin to express my hate for Taylor. In large part because I detest Lisa Rinna and her stupid giant lips. The character has no point and unlike Amanda it isn't even fun to watch her be mean. Myabe Hunter Tylo would have done a better job but ych. Also Billy is possible the worst character ever on a nighttime soap. I of course want Lana to DIE and I have found her just as annoying counterpart on daytime TV. Belle Brady on Days of Our Lives. Her mom's ex-husband was just brutally murdered and she's bitching cause "I've never seen my parents fight before. Wah!" Way to be sensitive you self absorbed bitch. And watching season 3 of Angel for the first time, wow. I thought I hated Fred now but it's nothing compared to back then. Mr redheadedwitch and I had to invent our own Angel drinking game just to get through the eps of her and Gunn being all lovey-dovey. The only part I liked was where Gunn was trying to be mean to her and said he was seeing someone else and her name was "I'm a real woman not a stick figure!" Hee! Too bad he was only pretending to mean it. As a wise Shack once said "Because Fred can do anything! Except shut up." WORD to everything Driade said about Dawn. During season 6 my hate knew no bounds. And I will always detest the fact that the characters remember everything differently because of her. Same goes for Conner on Angel. Even leaving he's annoying because he caused this stupid mind-wipe thing. Oh and just had to add. I have never seen Everybody Loves Raymond but I hate ever character on it just from the commercials and I want Patricia Heaton to get hit by a bus. Self important bitch. Thanks, I feel better.

I know that she's been mentioned before, but no words can stress Debra Barone hate. She is quite possibly the worst wife on television. I can't stand Patricia Heaton either. She thinks she should get a medal just because she was honest about plastic surgery. I also can't stand the way she walks around with her boobs popping out. Note to Patricia: You are not Salma Hayek. You are a forty something mother of four. And I'm not saying that women in their forties can't look sexy. They can (Heather Locklear anyone?) But when you walk around, trying to look and be young, you look really really pathetic.
And now, time for old school hate. Ann Marie from That Girl. The sight of her makes my skin cringe. She's nothing but a sorority chick living off of daddy's money. I hate how Marlo Thomas thinks that this show has anything to do with being a feminist, too. Mary Richards was the first real independent woman on television. Ann Marie was nothing but a predecessor for Rachael Green.
Edited: because I am not Irish so me cannot mean my.

Just renewing my Lauren Reed (the Contrived Odious Wife / Bride of Vaughn on ALIAS) hate:
You know, I thought I might like her better once they finally made her evil... but it was so craptacularily predictable (I mean, most of the fans over in the Alias forum saw it coming even before the season started!) that she just gets a resounding 'Meh, what-ever' from me. My my, Lauren turned out to be an evil sniper this past Sunday! Whoop-de-friggin-doo!... the character has all the charisma and usefulness of dirt. Not even that fancy dirt you pay money for. Just regular ground-dirt. She's the cast hot potato, and now it looks like she's being handed off to work with Sark, who is my favourite character but is unfortunately suffering through a bout of character assassination/neglect. Well, fuck that... it just ain't right.

ITA, man. Jonathan Kent is the worst kind of hypocrite on the face of the planet. He's just as bad as Lionel Luthor. He sold out his best friends in order to adopt Clark, mouths platitudes about righteousness but is totally willing to sacrifice Lex after Lex saved the farm, and deserves to get some sort of Kryptonite-powered mad cow venereal disease. I hate to say it but Martha's a fool too for marrying that man. Her dad was right about him. Whatever good Clark ever does is despite Bo not because of him.

I'm still not ready to hate Spike (I haven't watched much of Season 5 Angel, though, so I won't form an opinion on it... I might just quit once I get through with Season 4, though), but for virtually all Harmony scenes, I've had to flick to another channel even for a couple of seconds, out of sheer irritation. When she had scenes with Spike, she was even more irritating, and I'd pretty much read the recap parts from somewhere, and pass on actually viewing. Nothing against Mercedes McNab, of course, but: yech.

I'm not going to describe a specific character but an archetype. The ball-cutter. This smug, pompous, self-important bitch has been belittling our favorite male characters for too long!
This totally unlikable, unsympathetic female character, is suddenly lumped into the mostly male cast, usually in a position of authority, and the makers of the show try to force us to side with her. The ball-cutter usually lords over the hapless males in a condescending, self-satisfied way, squashing their freedom and fun, or outdoing them professionally, because they are all utterly brilliant. The men rise up in protest, but always in vain, ending up with their masculine ego in shreds. Knowing the natural sympathy we have for the protagonists, why would they think we would want to see them defeated and humiliated at the hands of these evil shrews, so cold you can keep icicles in their snatch.
The writers think this is a feminist statement, but if feminist means ball-cutter, than bring on Pat Robertson!
