I missed the first Mikai show, so how was he "sexually inappropriate" with his younger sister? The DP website was unclear.

The video that they showed during this episode, with Mikai wrestling with the little girl, was the same video they also showed last time. I hesitate to call it "sexually inappropriate" because I couldn't tell what was going on. (That doesn't mean it wasn't inappropriate - I just couldn't tell.)

Aside from the video, the lie detector test showed that Mikai lied about never touching his sister's breasts and vagina. He also attempted to molest or rape other girls.

I have been waiting impatiently to see this one last night. One thing that pisses me off--with all the innovations and technology today, why can't they invent a method that would allow you to reach into your TV set and bitch slap someone until their phony, lying head pops off? Judging from the info on the website, it doesn't look like this treatment center usually handles people with Makai's problem. He doesn't need to be doing yoga or art! He needs to be in prison!

Recently they showed what I think was part 4 of the Desp Housewives series and there was a woman called Michelle who came on with a secret so bad Dr P didn't show the tape as he was concerned she'd be in serious legal trouble if he did. Just curious, was there ever a followup to that show? If so, what was the deal?

When that episode aired in the US there was lots of speculation here as to when and where there might be a followup - in a prime-time Shill special, perhaps? But IIRC no one had any real info about it, and nothing's been heard of since. So we may never know Michelle's deep dark secret; Shill's left us hangin'.

I, nor anyone else, did not notice a change in my personality beyond that the obsessive compulsive thoughts diminished.

I just don't get this girl. She wants to conquer it on her own, but 5 years is a long time to be a slave to a disease that has treatment options. Adolescents are notorious drama seakers. Do you think that she just likes the attention?

borokat, I was on Paxil for nearly 2 years and although it didn't change my personality it totally destroyed my sex drive and gain a lot of weight. It did help with the OCD though so I guess it's just a matter of deciding what it's worth to you. It's not a drug that affects your personality at all though so to me it sounds like an excuse that the girl is using. Not that I'm an expert.

Nah, I think she's just in denial and wants to do it "on her own". Plenty of adults like that too. Some people don't seem to understand that it's simply not that easy and you can't just shut the thoughts off because you want to. lmwilker, I had the same questions about a year ago & determined that Fauxmorosa was a Ph.D. candidate in Communications at Howard (I believe she's in the Communications & Culture division). I suspect that has not changed but I don't know for sure. Sadly, the diss project she mentioned (depiction of black women on reality tv) actually seems sorta legit for the discipline. Looking in from the outside, it would seem that nobody would choose to be that miserable and have their life so limited but I think that Liz is so enmeshed in her rituals that the idea of giving them up through medication must terrify her more than her OCD.

It's bizarre but it seems like she is has convinced herself (chemical imbalances make the ridiculous seem logical) that the devil she knows (OCD) is better than the devil that she doesn't know (medicated and life as a functioning adult with responsibilities beyond praying in traffic).

That's whats wrong with todays system. Instead of trying to fix or at least help child molestors and other criminals solve and correct their behavior, we throw them in a jail cell. Say he does go to jail, when he gets out- how is his behavior any different if he didnt deal the with problem? He'll go back in society and find more girls to fuck. He needs a combination of both captivity and professional help.

OCD show- what the hell does Phil know about OCD that these people thought they could get help from him about? They spent half the show explaining how the girl dealt with everyday life, then Phil didn't give her any way to help other than telling her to take medication.

I get what you're saying about prisons, but child molesters have a very high rate of re-offending, so I think the solution is longer sentences. I don't think they should be inflicted on the public, especially in a case like Mikai's, where he's admitted to victimizing more than one girl. He should be institutionalized and away from children, either in jail or in some kind of mental hospital, because it's not like girls that small can defend themselves and if someone's life has to get ruined, it should be his. Prisons are overcrowded and there are problems with them-- the gov't should look into reform measures and seriously consider decriminalizing marijuana-- but child molestors should do time and lots of it.

That family is so messed up, it's like they have no protective instinct for their daughter. Their son has a problem, yeah, but he needs to suffer some consequences for his actions. They can still support and love him, and hope he gets beyond this (I think it's unlikely, but hopefully he can be rehabilitated) but they have to keep him away from their daughter and other young kids. Also, it seems like the more time he spends with specialists who study/treat other individuals with his problem, the more likely he is to get better. Why would they even consider letting him back home?

I never understand families like theirs...I remember when the Unabomber's brother turned him in, one of my teachers said "I would never hand over a family member!" All I could think was "If your brother was crazy as a bedbug, living in filth, completely paranoid, and blowing people up, you wouldn't be interested in getting him some help and bringing closure to the victims' families? Nice priorities!" I feel the same way about Mikai's parents. There's loyalty and then there's creepy and wrong.

Could OCD girl's reluctance to medicate have anything to do with her religious "inclinations"?

I did feel bad for OCD girl but as someone who has OCD herself (definitely NOWHERE near as severe as hers), I can understand not wanting to give up certain habits/behaviors because you really think these rituals are helping you. But, part of OCD is realizing that your little "neuroses" are pretty stupid and useless and for some reason I don't necessarily see her understanding that at all. I get the feeling that she thinks that OCD is some sort of fate that she's been given and that it's something she'll never have control of.

I'm fully aware of the set of "rules" that I live my life by, but would never think to let them prevent my loved ones from living their lives the way they like and if it ever got to that point, I would be on medication in a flash. She is seriously chemically imbalanced, and a bit of help from some sort of med might help if she were open to trying them. A lot of the meds cause loss of libido but I wouldn't worry about that with her because she probably doesn't do premarital sex.

Ha! I couldn't help but notice the sweet deal she's got at home- looked like a nice bedroom suite, a big ass SUV (didn't she say she's gone through 3 or 4 cars b/c they keep getting "contaminated"? It must be nice to have a pa who can keep replacing your cars when they get icky). She also mentioned going through at least 10 towels a day- at some point, she's going to have to go to more serious measures (like the medication that was brought up) if she wants to get better- b/c that sort of behavior can only last so long before the family gets tired of it.

I got the weirdest vibe from the Dad of OCD girl. When they were talking about him having a Navy Seal grab her force her into rehab. Not that she didn't need it but I got the distinct feeling that maybe he isn't as understanding as it seemed when the cameras are not rolling.

My first knee jerk reaction to putting Mikai in prison for a long time, was, one of disagreement. And let me explain. I look at him and I see a 19 year old kid. I have had so many probationers who have done wrong, violent, dangerous things, and they only get a few months in jail. So, I have been conditioned to think that 20 years would be way too much time for this little punk.

But then I went to check on poor LilB who is having a hard time of it right now due to allergies. And I thought about the possibility of Mikai molesting and hurting my son, which made my stomach turn. He should not have access to the general public, period.

But then another disturbing thought popped up. I feel so strongly about protecting LilB from pedophiles like Mikai. Why the hell do his parents not feel the same? They have a houseload of kids in their house. How did they let this happen?

Dr. Shill's 500th Show!!! What a crapfest waste of an hour...much like the other 499.

Did anybody find something strangely odd about the guests behavior on the 500th show celebration? The FUF1 family seemed a bit uncomfortable. And it seemed as though they were still going through problems maybe that is why I found them to be acting extremely odd.

And the lady who lost all the weight and was given the workout equipment seemed as though she coudn't care less about the gifts. Did Dr. Phil piss her off before the show?

Yeah and the lady who's seen all 500 shows thus earning (the hard way, IMO) a new car barely registered excitement. Nor did Katherine when given her new Olympus camera (whoopie). Dr. Phil is a big Kid Rock fan? and what was BBJ wearing? The whole thing was just weird - no surprise there.

The 500th show was pretty much a waste of time and I thought everyone seemed really uncomfortable through the whole thing, especially the staff. They were probably thinking oh man now we have to honor this moron after working for him?

In defense of the trivia contest winner, she was wiping away tears when she sat in the car. I think she was just really, really nervous. Sure, we're all accustomed to seeing the people on "The Price is Right" who jump up and down when they win a year's supply of Turtle Wax, but remember, there are screeners who go through the audience specifically looking for those kinds of hyper-enthusiastic people.
