Kaiba been on the ropes for a good while, shit! this duel is freaking exciting! HOLY SHIT KAIBA LAUGHING! Noah ass is cooked! GO KAIBA! Man that move with Ring of Destruction was freaking awesome!
Hell yeah!!! Yugi and Tristan should clapped and take notes!
BOOO! Noah going out like a coward! Using his brother and all, fucking coward! I'm claiming this ONE OF THE BEST DUEL EVER! I've been hollering the entire episode! Woo-Hoo! I have to watch this one again!

Noah has issues. Then again, if your mind was placed in cyberland, wouldn't you have issues?
It's been a good duel so far...Noah using Mokuba as a human shield is to be expected. Besides, isn't there a law that states Kaiba can't end a duel without a BEWD or other powerful beastie? Well, he did have the techno soundtrack and the Vengance Woody, so maybe he thought he could cut the duel by at least one part.

Ah....the only thing better than Kaiba in Vengeance Woody mode is Kaiba playing mind games with people. Way to fuck with Noah's hurt feelings and piss-poor childhood in cyberspace.
Boo on Noah for using Mocuba as a human shield, though it was to be expected. For once I think Kaiba faces an ethical decision. I mean, if it were Yugi or Joey or Tristan Noah was using as a hostage, Kaiba would blast their ass before Noah even finished with the ultimatum, but this has me interested to see how Kaiba is going to try to get out of this next week.
Oh hey, the Ring of Destruction and the Ring of Shielding. I'd forgotten all about those.

Yeah! It became clear this was/is a battle of wits as well! Seeing both of them trade insults and not flinch was awesome! For a moment there I completely forgot they aren't real brothers!
*Like Noah Ark and the ability that it can pull monsters from the graveyard and then used them again. Freaking A!

Yugi: Whose turn is it to spout exposition and little else?
Serenity: I do believe it's Tea.
Tea: (without missing a beat) You guys! Mokuba's standing in front of Noah! If Kaiba attacks Noah, he could hurt his precious little brother!
Kaiba: (veins twitchin') What have you done with Mokuba, you sick son of a bitch?!???
Noah: I am insulted! Mokuba loves me more! Pay no attention to his glowing red eyes! We were smoking crack before you barged in here!
Mokuba: (glazed) Mister, I don't know who you are. Please leave my big brother alone.
Kaiba: Grrrrrrrrrr.
Noah: So...what's the call? Either I take control of your body, or you risk killing the most precious thing in the world to you.
Joey: Aside from his Vengance Woody.
Duke: And his millions.
Tristian: Ook ook. And his Blue Eyes White Dragons. Ook Ook.
Kaiba: I have no choice...
Noah: I win!
Kaiba: Fuck you. I activate DFSU!
Noah: And that is...?
Kaiba: Dragons Fuck Shit Up. It's a magic card, allowing me to summon any number of dragons that I desire!
(blinding light...Kaiba's three BEWDs materalize...standard music and roaring)
Noah: So you unleashed your precious monsters. But you still risk killing Mokuba!
Mokuba: Please don't kill me. Heaven would be ever so lonely without my Noah.
Kaiba: Actually, I have a different plan.
(tight shot of Kaiba...evil light in his eyes)
Kaiba: Go, Blue Eyes...attack...NOAH'S BRAINCASE!
Noah: Hey, wait a second.
(BEWDs rip into Noah's orb...tearing into precious memory)
Noah: No! I've forgotten my trip to Mars! And when I disfigured my virtual dog!
Yugi: Damn, Kaiba's vicious!
Noah: (dancing) Where did you come from, Cotton Eye Joe? I've been married long time 'go! Where did you come from, where did you go? Where did you come from, Cotton Eye Joe!
Duke: Shit, homeboy can dance!
Noah: Arrrrrghhhh! I'm melting! Meeeeeelting! Meeeeelllltttinnngg! What a cyber world!
(explosion)
Kaiba: (pumping fist) Whose yo daddy? Whose yo daddy, motherfucker??!???!??
Yugi Gang: Yeeeehaw! All hail Kaiba!
Kaiba: Mokuba? Are you okay?
Mokuba: Seto, I've been meaning to say this...I hate you. Honestly, ever since you took over KaibaCorp, it's been one thing after another. I'll always love you for how you got us out of the orphanage, but I need my space. And if you follow me, I will kill you. I'm sorry.
(long pause)
Kaiba: Blue Eyes! Eat Mokuba!
Mokuba: Wow. Didn't see that coming.
(the BEWDs dine on Mokuba's panicked flesh)
Kaiba: Ungrateful little bitch. I protect him from the bullies and the rapists, and this is the thanks that I get? Sheeit.
Joey: ASSHOLE! You've gone too far! (rushing Kaiba)
Kaiba: I should've done this a long time ago. (grabbing Joey's arm, ripping it out of the socket, beating him with it)
Joey: OOOOWWWWWW!!!
Kaiba: (wailing away) Quit hitting yourself! Quit hitting yourself!
Serenity: He's a thug! A self-righteous...brutal...punk-ass. (pause) I'm horny.
Kaiba: Say what?
Serenity: You, Seto Kaiba. You're the one that I want!
Duke: (suffers a massive stroke)

[KaibaCorp Boardroom. Members of the Big Five gather around a giant screen. Suddenly, it flickers on]
Noah: Hello, gentlemen. I supposed you're wondering why I called you in here.
Johnson: Urm...actually, we called you.
Noah: Really? Well, since I'm more or less trapped in a dull reality of my father's creation, I suppose things can get mixed up.
Krump: Yes. Of course. Anyway, we're here to evaluate your mental state, run things by the numbers.
Gansley: Just business, don't you know.
Nesbit: I'm a robot.
Lecther: What my associates are saying, Mastah Kaibah, is your father is somewhat concerned about-
Noah: I know, I know...he's having trouble with "Project: Cinderella" with that Seto kid.
Johnson: You're out of order! I mean...how did you know?
Noah: Hello? Sentient superfile? I know everything! But I guess I should show you what I've done with my simulated life.
Gansley: Top hat, young sir.
Noah: Well, I fixed the economy here in Kaibaland. We've gone communist now. Things couldn't be better.
Gansley: That's nice. Now- SAY WHAT?!?
Noah: Capitialism is for losers. Look where it got me...in a van down by the river! Oops! I mean, in a giant brainbox!

Johnson & Nesbit: [whimper]
Noah: Speaking of altering things...hey, Lechter! I didn't like what you did to my virtual Civil War program!
Lechter: Mastah Kaibah, I do believe that the South shall one day rise again. So I programmed the Confederates to regroup and start the war again in 1868.
Noah: Well, I thought that the losers should remain losers. So I created a post-war program.
Lechter: What am I looking at?
Noah: In my version of history, Confederate soliders became the slaves of their Union counterparts. I have this feeling that I'm misssing the point...but I'm having too much fun to care!

Latest issue of Shonen Jump USA is out, with a few more chapters of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, and still overlapping with the first dub episode.
Duel 39: Endgame
To refresh your memory, Kaiba has 1000 life points, Yugi 200, and Kaiba's three Blue Eyes White Dragons are all free to attack next turn. If Yugi doesn't draw a card that can defeat Kaiba in one stroke, he loses his (real) life! Yugi knows that drawing the fifth piece of Exodia will do the trick, but he can't make himself believe that he can do it. His fear is causing the cards to seem to recede. But then Yugi remembers Anzu's special sign, and the spirits of his friends arrive to support him. Sure enough, now that Yugi has hope again, he's able to complete Exodia! Kaiba loses!
Duel 40: A Piece of His Heart
The Duel is over, but the story still has a bit to go. Yugi blathers about the Heart of the Cards, then subjects Kaiba to "Mind Crush", which "destroyed the part of your heart that was filled with evil!" Kaiba lapses into a coma, but his goons are still holding Anzu, Jonouchi and Johji (who finally wakes up) hostage. Jonouchi thinks he could take the guards if it weren't for their guns. Suddenly, Honda (sans jacket) appears and distracts the guards long enough for he and Jonouchi to lay down some smack. Turns out Mokuba turned off the falling blocks after his duel with Yugi, and got Honda out of the deathtrap.
We then get Mokuba's version of the Kaiba siblings' backstory, as seen in recent episodes. (No Noah, of course.) Big changes from the version we saw in the dub are: It's made clear that Gozaburo *was* at the orphanage specifically to find an heir; Seto *cheated* at the chess game as opposed to having just studied his opponent's style; and Gozaburo deliberately flung himself out a window to his apparent death when Seto took over Kaibacorp. None of the Big Five are recognizable in the group shot of Kaibacorp execs.
Inside Kaiba's head, he's a child again, putting together the pieces of his mind, minus the evil bits. Yugi promises Mokuba that one day Seto will return sane. Hanasaki calls from the hospital to report that Grandpa's recovered, and the friends go over there. At the end, we learn that Yugi now remembers everything that his other self (Yami) has done.
Duel 41: Let's Find "Love"!
Life returns to normal for Yugi's gang, and Anzu moons over Yami. Hey, Yugi has a mother! She nearly disrupts his game of "Sock Concentration." Then it's off to school with Anzu, who gives Yugi a keychain "love match" game, just like hers. Hmm.... Oh, and they're in summer uniforms now. Yugi, Jonouchi and Honda play "Achievement Test Scores Bingo", which about the only good thing about the test, since their scores are dismal. An evil guidance counselor confiscates Yugi's keychain game, and informs the trio that they'll be expelled if they can't find it. Now, where would a teacher hide something like that?

Well, after all the Kaibafest, it's back to Yugi to save the day. It is his show, after all.
Speculation: Gozaburo originally picked up Seto as a backup plan, just in case Noah couldn't be resurrected. When he saw what Noah had done to the dog, and looked over the "let's take over the Internet" plan, Gozaburo realized the kid was becoming flaky, and cut off Noah's output channels.
Since Noah's continued existence was a secret, Seto was unaware of the project, and failed to have it terminated (indeed, he might have purged anyone who knew about Noah's whereabouts without asking about it.) Noah could see what was going on, but couldn't
do anything about it.
Up to the point where Seto ordered all the safetys removed during his practice duel to test Obelisk the Tormentor. Remember how a bunch of computer systems blew? My guess is that in the repair process, Noah's output access was restored. And the rest is history.
By the by,
YGO Manga Synoptic Theater is up to chapter 7 now.

That was fun. Kaiba takes a few pages from Yugi's handbook, freeing his brother from Noah's spell, and summoning BEWD. Sadly, Noah unleashes Shinato during Last Turn, beats Seto's ass, and turns him and Mokuba into statues. Of course, Yugi's gotta be all weepy about it, and challenges Noah to finish the duel. Noah has about 7000 lifepoints left. Yugi? 400. Hey...this is HIS show, and he could lord it over Kaiba afterwards.
Seriously, this was one balls-out bitchin' episode. Sadly, Noah's "so close, yet never together" punishment of the Kaiba Bros. is reminiscent of Pegasus' technique. How much you wanna bet Seto calls the whole thing "one big mental illusion"?

Yay, the forums are back!
So Kaiba does have a heart after all. It was good to see some real brotherly affection there instead of the usual thing, where Kaiba strusts about and Mocuba grins and worships his big bro. Too bad about the turning to stone part. It always seems like someone is fucking with the Kaiba Brothers (i.e. Pegasus, Marik, and the Big 5).
Nice to see Yugi call out Noah for being a punk, though taking on Noah's super deckmaster with only Kaiba measly 400 points strikes me as a suicide move. Oh well.

Today's episode, well what a a little punkass Noah has turned into. All that big talk about fair-fighting he threw down when the Big 5 were cheating left and right, and Noah goes ahead and cheats just as much if not more than the Big 5!
Noah committed the cardinal sin of taking out Seto (and Mokuba) before the duel is even officially over. Very poor sportsmanship on Noah's part. Since he had so many life-points over Seto, would it have killed him to at least let Seto have one more shot? I guess not. This just shows that Noah is a weasily little punk who didn't want Seto to get a chance to pull a Deus Ex Machina out and beat him.
The question I have is: Why did Noah allow Yugi to take up for Seto?? If Noah going to be a punkass, then why not go all the way and take over the body he wants and just leaves everyone trapped in cyberspace? Why is he giving Yugi, the undisputed KING of Deus Ex Machina's the chance to beat him?? Doesn't make sense to me other than for the writers to stretch this thing out for another 4 or 5 episodes.
Other than that strange anomaly, it was a decent episode.

Noah did cheat by using Mokuba as a shield. But everything he did after that wasn't cheating, it was crummy writing. From the way the show started we are left with a very strong impression that monster cards can only be deckmasters. Coincidentally Shinatoh's Ark is a magic card that releases Shinato itself when destroyed. The deckmaster rules should've been clearer on this matter.
Also Noah had officially won the duel. That's the whole point behind Seto's magic card Last Turn. It doesn't matter if your deck did or didn't burn out and if you still have life points left. What decided the duel was Shinato destroying Blue Eyes White Dragon since it was more powerful.
It's pretty obvious that Noah hates Seto with every fiber of his being. Why take over a body that you would hate looking into the mirror with everyday? Especially when you have other promising bodies to take over.
I wonder how well "Heart of the Cards" translates into virtual data because it's the only way Yugi can get out of the corner he delibrately painted himself into.

mutantmagnet: HotC has translated well in cyberspace. Actually, I interpreted their whole past life thing differently. To me, Yugi isn't really the reincarnation of the Pharaoh because Yami's spirit is residing inside the Puzzle. They're both separate entities, so I think of Yugi is more in lines of a vessel for Yami. A bit like Bakura. I think Kaiba is the actual reincarnation of the Priest and like most incarnations, remember nothing of his past life. Whatever he remembers is prompted by an outside force like Ishizu or the Rod.
I admit I spoiled myself silly reading manga summaries about the Egypt Arc, so now I'm definitely looking forward to what they do with the anime.

Noah is in denial if he think he didn't cheated. Had he not, the duel would have ended much earlier. I will agree it harkens back to the Pegasus Arc with Kaiba vs Yugi. Still, the BEWD might not had been needed if Mocuba wasn't the shield and given time to shakeoff Noah spell.

What makes Noah pure evil? I'm only up to where Kaiba beats the last of the B5 so I know I'm missing out on some stuff but just how much worse can Noah be than any of the ather villains?
Pegasus kidnapped Mokuba, sucked out several souls and played mind games with everyone and he played that stupid game of ' now you see my Millenium Eye and now you don't'.
EvilBakura steals souls, ripped out Pegasus' Millenium Eye and licked the blood off, has sent innumeral people to the Shadow Realm, and clearly abuses normalBakura.
Marik/SuperEvilMarik kidnapped Mokuba, enslaved Joey and Tea's minds, sent several people to the shadow realm, including Bakura, Mai, and his own father and messes with people's minds.
As far as I know Noah has kidnapped Mokuba and used him against Seto (nothing new there), forced people to duel for their lives (been there done that), and is apparently cheating during duels (also nothing new). The only thing that I can think of that is any different than what the other villains are doing is that he's showing them the Kaiba brothers' past while doing it.

After Yami whips Noah's ass, (Yami's dishing out the beatings like rice pudding, in terms of duels) Kaiba vs. Gozaburo takes place. Gozaburo uses Necross Exodia, there's a explanation some pages back of this monster. All five pieces have to be in the GraveYard. Then, Battle City finals resume. That'll take up another whole season, if I read the episode guides right.

Hexlover, saying pure evil was for me, a figure of speech. Noah is jealous of Kaiba, though. That 'stone-turning move' wasn't needed for Mocuba because in Noah psycho mind, Mocuba hadn't done anything to him. So why turn him to stone? Plus, didn't Pegasus kidnap Mocuba because he and the Big 5 thought Mocuba would be the next in charge of KaibaCorps or something?

Your recollection is correct. Mocuba was next in line so Pegasus and the Big 5 was going to use him as a figurehead.

Speaking of Pegasus, is he going to show up again, or was "Duelist Kingdom" his last hurrah?

No, we'll see Pegasas again actually in Doom Saga. Or at least who may or maynot be Pegasas.

Pegasus kidnapped Mokuba,
EvilBakura steals souls, ripped out Pegasus' Millenium Eye and licked the blood off, has sent innumeral people to the Shadow Realm, and clearly abuses normalBakura.
Marik/SuperEvilMarik kidnapped Mokuba,
As far as I know Noah has kidnapped Mokuba
AndEvilBakura attempted to take over Mokuba's body at one point, only to be stopped by Tristan.
The kid might as well just paint a bullseye on his shirt and be done with it.
Noah isn't so much evil as selfish. He really doesn't understand that he isn't the most important being in the universe, and the rest of creation isn't his toys to be mangled if they thwart him.

Silly kid, everyone knows that Seto is the most important person in the universe.

Noah gets his li'l heinie smacked around more than...well, nobody gets their heinie smacked around more than Mokuba. That kid's going to need serious therapy soon. And a haircut.

Readster, you may wanna put Spoiler Tags on those, as not everyone has watched the sub.
Damn, I really hope this saga is over soon. Noa's dub voice irritates me to no end, and personally don't really care for this dueling format (deckmaster and all that) anymore. Waiting for Exodia Necros is the only thing I'm looking foward too.. This Saturday's episode was pretty good though. I just want the arc to finish.

A couple of pages ago, someone asked why Noah would bother dueling Yugi, given that he had, in fact *won* against Seto, by Seto's own admission.
He's ten. Despite Noah's vaunted intellect, he's still emotionally a spoiled ten-year-old, with a child's concept of "fair." And when Yugi called him on the fairness issue, Noah had to prove himself again. He couldn't bring himself to shrug and say, "Yeah, so?" the way a more mature villain could.
Also, Yugi (as seen several times in the manga) has an uncanny ability to convince people to play games with him, even when it's clearly not to their advantage to do so.

7200 Life points and a deckmaster stronger than a Blue Eyes vs 400 LP and a hybrid deck doesn't feel like a bad thing at all :)

Quick heads-up...Cartoon Network's airing the old-school stuff weeknights. Tonight was "Heart of the Cards," tomorrow, "The Gauntlet is Thrown." Duelist Kingdom, here we come!

Coolness. Also, I can't wait to see Yugi do a major-league smackdown on Noah.

I love the older episodes. I actually think it would be easier to use a dueling arena type system than a duel disk, and I would definitely watch duels on tv, like they do on this show. What channel d'ya think they'd show Duel Monsters battles on? Spike Tv? Tech Tv?? ESPN 17?

Plus the rules made a lot more sense. I find the sacrificing rule to be kind of confusing, there's a 1600 attack power card that requires a double sacrifice but there's a 2000 attack power card that requires none. And the rule about fused monsters not being able to attack on the round that they were created doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I can't figure out why Seto put these rules into play since they only hurt his normal strategy by making it very difficult to bring his trademark super power monsters onto the field. The only rule that really makes sense is that the victor recieves the loser's rarest card, if this rule had been in play in Duelest Kingdom then Yugi would now posses the Great Moth, King of Yamimaki, watever Makos rarest was, Harpy's Feather Duster, and Toon World.

From what I've gathered, sacrificing is required in real-time games. Besides, guys like Yugi and Kaiba gotta work harder to get their best cards out, and that makes for better stories.
