Phlox is a BuddhistThis article is only mildly spoilery. It was fun to read Billingsley's own interpretations of his character.
I hate to say it, but if the Xindi destroy Earth, Phlox is the one who's going to go, 'That was terrible. Now, my next assignment ... .'

Hee! The song!
On the other hand, having an episode practically to himself doesn't allow Billingsley to engage in his normal gloating in front of his harder-working cast members.
He even has a song for it (set to the tune of Harry Belafonte's "Day-O"): "Character actor have more fun; six days off and the check still come. Other people work, I lie in the sun. Character actor, he have more fun. Day-O, d-a-a-ay-O!"
My love just grows and grows for this man. Not in a creepy, stalker-ish way, of course. Just in a goofy-grin way. Hee.

I love that song. Singing it aloud now.
We know Phlox is interested in Buddhism (and Catholicism) already, of course, so it's nice to see Billingsley working to add that to his character.

I realized last week when I thought Phlox had lost his head that he is my favorite character on this show. Learning more about the actor only seconds that.
I'd like to sing along with you,
nelamm, but I don't think I could explain to my co-workers. Hee. Day-O.
I also liked this quote:
"In the first and second season, we were able to master every situation so perfectly that it just became routine. There have been episodes in which there has been a moral struggle, but when it comes down to brass tacks, we're gonna win.
"I have always been interested -- and am still interested, and will be interested -- in having us lose. For the most part, most of the explorers of the world lived short and violent lives. That's the nature of things, of course, but that runs into the demands of network television."
This is definitely something that's bothered me in early episodes. I hope the writers listen to our doctor.

Oh I totally agree.
Pippin's Real Life reports are also helping me to get a feel for the actor. His sense of fun really comes through in Phlox. It's so nice to know that he's truly enjoying himself!

Especially when other actors aren't having any fun. I'm very excited about tomorrow's episode.

Okay, while he's lying about in the sun, could he possibly write some episodes? 'Cause it seems like his take on the show is really great. What a fun guy.

Wow, I had go hunting for this thread. At yet I can't be the only person who absolutely loved seeing Phlox puff his face out like that. At that moment in the episode, I was all "Ho hum, bar fight." but then I caught Phlox out of the corner of my eye. I said "Cool!" right out loud, which is something I don't think I have ever done during an episode of Enterprise.

JB was on a Cold Case episode tonight. He was the file clerk at the police dept. Keeping track of all the reports. According to his character he runs a "tight ship". Heh. He pretended to be a cop so he could take the women and hunt them in the woods. AAA!

Let me just say: I love Phlox. He's got the attitude of Dr. McCoy and the bedside manner of Dr. Kildare. Plus, he's creative; gotta love those natural remedies he cooks up.

You know, I always thought that Trip would be my other Enterprise TV Boyfriend, but as of "Cold Station 12," I was proven wrong. They laid one hand on the good doctor and my head nearly exploded.
I Love Phlox.

You know, while regular Phlox (and John Billingsley) was admirable, Mirror Universe Phlox is strangely compelling and sexy. More of a character with a central core, somehow.
Somebody please tell me I'm not crazy?

You're not crazy. Angst is always hot. And Phleevil had a lot of angst: working under Evil Leaper, always wearing rubber (which would cause a rash with all the sweating), excessive worry of xenophobia being the cause of his one way trip out the airlock. Lots to worry about; more to love.
