Hi, i'm new to the board. I've been a fan of the show for a while but didn't become an obessive watcher until season 5 when jackie and hyde hooked up.
Tonights eppy was ok. it had its funny moments but for some reason eric really irrated me tonight. he was being such an ass and his apology to donna was so weak, i can't believe donna accepted it. the old donna from seasons 1-3 would have told him to kiss her ass. for some reason e/d have really started to annoy me this season i really wish the writers would focus more on j/h relationship for awhile because e/d have started to bore me with all their "we're in love and we're getting married" crap. durning tonights eppy i was booing them right along with jackie and hyde when they started making out in the circle. We get it...e/d are in love so can we please move on to something more interesting!
i to really wish the writers would address if j/h have had sex or not...it just seems stupid of them not to address it. i dont care if j/h have a "first time" eppy like every other couple on the show, i just think they should have an eppy that clarifies if they have had sex or not....to me it would be a hugh mistake if the writers never address the issue...its not like the audience is just going to forget the fact that sex is never mentioned between theses two especially when thier so hot for each other and both jackie and hyde consider themselves to be experts in the ways of sex.
anyways...thanks for listening to my opinions

Welcome, Shonnarae!
Ok, I did giggle when Donna slapped Eric awake, I'll admit it. Other than that: yes, writers, we know D/E are in love and are getting married and love each other and will always be together blah blah blah.
Even Kelso didn't bug me in last night's ep. And Fez driving Red around town? Since Fez is so one-dimensional this season, I was expecting to dislike his scenes, but I didn't, mostly because of Red's explanation to him of why Red acts like a prickly pear around him.
And you know, I was actually happy to see Roy! I love Jim Gaffigan. :-)

Ohhhh I was SO annoyed at last night's Eric/Donna crap! The beginning of the episode was totally setting up Eric realizing that he's so not ready for getting married and he and Donna need to get out and meet other people (well, Donna needs to meet other people, and he needs to be a kid for a while longer cause he's so immature), but no, it closed with a pansy-ass apology and a makeout session in the circle. BARF.
But I'm happy to see the return of the spinning wallpaper. I caught the episode where Red and Kitty eat the pot brownies in syndication and it cracked me up like nothing else. And I thought Hyde was pretty funny during the double date too. More Jackie/Hyde! Hell, even more Kelso/Brooke! Just say NO to Eric/Donna!

i just must say that i'm totally in LOVE with hyde and jackie and hyde together. and i totally agree that donna and eric are getting so annoying. i caught that same episode in sydication yesterday that someone was just talking about. the one where jackie is sleeping in stephen's bed and donna asks her to stay with her. the scene where stephen explains to donna why jackie called her unpopular (donna embaressed her by feeling sorry for her in front of a bunch of people) had to be the sweetest thing ever. i could not be more in love with him. my husband knows that if there was a stephen hyde in real life and i met him, i leave my marriage for stephen. (kidding, sort of.)

Topic? I really really hate the new Laurie. With the fire of a thousand burning nuns.
Has anyone seen the ad for The Butterfly Effect? Ashton need acting lessons (actually I read somewhere that Cameron Crowe just cut him from his new movie and advised him to take some acting lessons. Makes me wonder, you guys think that is why he got out of doing Punk'd? Because it is obvious that he is a bad actor and needs to eventually be taken seriously? I wonder if that is Demi's influence? I have too much time on my hands.)

Was nuLaurie even in last nite's ep? Whatever, agreed that she sucks eggs.
It constantly amazes me how much I love Kelso and yet dislike Ashton Kutcher. Maybe it's the overexposure, maybe it's him dating Skeletor, I'm sorry, Demi Moore, but he just bugs. OTOH, I can't get enough of Kelso. I like him and Brooke together, I think they are sweet.
Eric made me laugh but I can't bring myself to care about him and Donna as much as I used to.
"He mentioned the sisters.... Awesome." Hyde was hysterical on the double date, as was Jackie. "Stephen likes black things and breaking glass." Cut to Hyde beaming at Brooke. CLASSIC.

ITA. I used to think Kelso was the weakest character until I realized that the group needs someone that stupid around to make them complete. And I used to like Ashton after one interview I actually read online somewhere: that he used to act dumb and clumsy to make his brother (I think his brother had cystic fibrosis or another equally devestating illness) laugh when the pain became too much. Now I can't even stand to look at him on any magazine cover when I'm at the supermarket.
Last night's ep also rocked just because NuLaurie wasn't in it. Man, she does suck eggs, Pulpbomb! I've seen her a few times on MadTV and she wasn't that great on that either.

I normally can't stand Kelso, but ... yeah, I agree, I like him and Brooke together, too. The "We're having a baby ... and we have no idea ..." bit in last night's episode cracked me up.
Kelso may be dumb, but, in his own sort of way, he's starting to seem more mature than the others. Compared to the way Eric would react if Donna turned up pregnant, he's taking this with a surprisingly small amount of screaming. Who knows, he may grow up yet. None of the others seem to have any incentive to.

This show is struggling.. big time. I think the whole Red-has-a-heart-attack-plot-device to keep people around really stagnated the show. If they move on to college, if they actually have some "young people" stuff going on it'd be more interesting. Right now we have marriage talk, more marriage talk, and baby talk. Is this Thirtysomething? These kids are like 17/18!
Let's have them go on Spring Break! Let's have them hit the clubs. Some fun promotions by Donna's radio show. Let's get some sort of scandal going. Where's the youth? They did more stuff in high school than they do now. Fez danced, they went camping. They *did* stuff. It's currently very boring.
More of Red trying to catch them at stuff. More Kitty trying to get Red to take her out to eat. More Jackie/Hyde romanticky stuff.
And Kurtwood Smith (Red)'s dyed hair is absolutely driving me crazy. He looked better before! Why change the look now? Is he in a movie or something?
Show needs help, stat.

Jan 8, 2004 @ 6:06 pm
While I agree they're a bit young for all the marriage-baby-marriage-baby talk, I guess I figured the lack of doing stuff was deliberate -- an attempt to show that they're at loose ends without school? But now that I think about it, not only do I think a plotline of that subtlty is too much for these writers, but since we never saw much of school, it's not like they (the gang) aren't used to doing other stuff.

Wow I only laughed at two scenes during the show. The double date and after Eric and Donna started kissing(ick) in the circle. Jackie and Hyde's simultaneous "BOOOO!" and Kelso telling them "no groping in the circle!" followed by Fez telling Eric to "take charge" had me rolling.

Word. I want to see them go to the movies, get crappy fad stuff from the mall, deal with the struggle of now being adults but still having to live by their parent's rules to some extent, and realize that they are rookies in the world of adults and still don't really know anything.
Also, I want to see Donna compete with a new "hot" girl at the radio station, or get a partner for her radio show that'll cramp her style, all without bringing Eric into the equation. I don't really like Donna anymore, but I think that's because she barely ever gets a plotline that isn't joined at the hip to Eric.

What I *am* surprised about is that Ashton Kutcher was ranked as HIGH as he was. He's not pretty! To me he looks like a very mannish woman. I know that sounds terrible, but he's all lanky and doe eyed, and looks demonic when he cackles with his joker chin and his crazy-ass cheekbones. And frankly, he could be the nicest guy alive, but he strikes me as conceited, unintelligent and not a very good actor. He always plays Kelso, in every movie. And also, he called himself and Puff Daddy the "New Rat Pack"... excuse you, you cannot name your group, it's like making up your own nickname. It's stupid. You're no Dean Martin, no matter how much you say you are.
I'm sorry, I don't see it.
And it seems more fans like Danny Masterson looks-wise... why is Ashton being called the "hottie" on the show. Hell, Wilmer (Fez) is freaking HOT when he's wearing his everyday clothes.
Feh, Ashton Kutcher. Trucker hats. Snort.

After a long time lurking (like the show just rarely catch it on tv), I have a question. Can one of you pretty please tell me what Eric said? The details I remember are 1. Donna was on a date w/ Kelso's older brother. 2. The date took place at a hotel room. 3. Eric goes to interrupt it but changes his mind. Anyway, he says something along the lines of "I'm extremely unhappy. The only fair thing is to find Donna and make her as miserable as I am." Something like that. Anybody able to correct this for me? Thanks.
and thanks for helping me figure out who the cute familiar looking guy was in Win A Date. Topher is always so much fun.

I am a brand new fan of this show. In fact, I've only seen five episodes. With my fresh set of eyes, I have to say:
It makes me a bit sad to see the Eric and Donna fatigue on the board because right now I think they are adorable. All cute couples seem to break up or fade away. As Neil Young might say: it's better to burn out than to fade away.
Even this early on, it is evident that Laura Prepon cannot act.
I really, really, really don't get the Ashton Kucher thing. I will not be checking out that 'serious' turn in "butterfly effect."
And in case you're curious why I tuned into this show for the first time: it was an ad for "Win a Date With Tad Hamilton." Topher Grace is a doll.

That may have been the longest haircut a bald man ever got. Good to see Carlton's dad getting some work.
I really wanted to see them finish fixing the sink, to find out how pump sewage coming through the faucet could be caused by something in the piping under the sink. "Lower, Dumbass!"
NuLaurie - "I am not a whore!" Heh.
If Jackie had to do the community service project for school, why didn't the rest of the gang have to do it last year?
Is the contrast on my TV going batty, or did Eric seem sunburned, especially in the opening scene sitting next to Donna?

I loved the bloopers, too, but during the 'Eric vs Red Quiz Show' bit, wasn't Eric a bit ahead of his time talking about the Sith Lord? I don't recall that term being used in the original films.
Red sure likes to lecture ... when he found the police car in the garage, he lined everyone up and started in on them, even Kitty (who didn't have anything to do with the car and should have been exempt).
Still, my favorite part was probably when Kelso was defending himself after his mentor-cop figured out he'd taken the car. "I can explain that ... I can explain that ...", and then Little Jackie sits up. "Can't explain that." I'm embarassed to admit it, but I'm liking Kelso more and more this season.

They aren't terribly accurate when it comes to the Star Wars stuff on this show. I don't remember exactly which ep it was, but there's one where Eric is holding his Millennium Falcon and it's not even the one from that era, but one of the more recent toys. [geek]You can tell because it opens
with a hinge instead of the roof lifting off as in

Hee! I don't think I've seen that episode. Mr. Blevins thinks "Sith Lord" is an anachronism, too (actually, he said it was an "acroynm", but then he corrected himself), so given what you said, it doesn't sound outside the range of possibilities.
Well, accurate or not, I loved Red's descriptions. "Sits next to the furry guy." "Has a breathing problem." These were about the extent of my knowledge of the film for years and years, since even though I can accurately claim I saw it in theaters when it was first released, I was only a few months old at the time.

Although he didn't appear in the films until Empire in May 1980, Boba Fett actually appeared earlier in the "Star Wars Christmas Special" (Nov 1978) and had action figures prior to the movie as well (little: 1979, 12": 1979).

That's funny you should say that about their change in appearance because I thought the exact opposite. Word that Jackie & Fez have changed alot. Obviously Jackie, because Mila Kunis was only 14 or 15 when they started (you had to be 18 to be on the show, they asked her how old she was she said "I'm gonna be 18".. not a lie, she just didn't say
when, heh heh) so she did alot of growing.
But Hyde, imho, was more buff and had much better hair in the first season. It was long-ish, it was floppy and sort of sun-kissed. Now it's darker, and sort of brushed back and shorter, giving a 'helmet' look. Don't get me wrong, Danny Masterson is hot, but first season Hyde had a ridiculously toned body and great hair. Bring back the old hair! He looks like he has a receding hairline right now... though is still hot.
And I hate Laura Prepon's feathered-esque hair, I know that was the style, but her hair doesn't look as red (looks lighter) and it also looks sort of... well, not as nice as before. Eric has really grown up quite a bit and looks much, much more like a man than a boy.
