What do I have to do to get Becker cancelled? My mother-in-law was over for Xmas and she was watching it. I couldn't say anything because I didn't want to be rude but...I think I actually broke one of my teeth from grinding it so hard to keep myself from screaming.
And who do we have to blow to get Kevin James' King of Queens off of our televisions? It's now in syndication! I hate it so much that my hate has begun to hate the show independently of my brain.

What the hell? I was chosen to do Nielsen, too, but they just sent me $5! Jeez, they think just because you're an Okie, they can fleece you. Damn Jodes. But anyway, they sent it to me, like, 12th class mail, so I got it the week AFTER they had asked me to keep record. Makes one wonder, donnit?

On "Survivor":
I "get" the show, I think, and I even think some of the challenges (or whatever they're called) are innovative, but I am so not interested in listening to people bitch and moan and whine and scheme and plot. If it were just a straight-up game show, without the plotting and the alliances and all that jazz, I'd be a lot more interested
ITA. I'm actually really, really surprised the concept became so popular and lasted so long. I so had the show pegged as one that would flameout after the second season.
Also Word! to people who said that Happy Family has to go. And the saddest thing is that Christine Baranski and John Larroquette are both Emmy-award winning comedians and very, very funny. But even they can't save that debacle, which says an awful lot about the writing.
And as for Becker, I didn't even realize it was still on until recently when I set my VCR for the wrong channel and came home to find Becker on my tape. Why wasn't that show cancelled several years ago?! It was awful from the beginning, and, judging from the few minutes I watched it hasn't gotten any better.
Finally, I nominate any show which documents anyone's wedding, courtship, marriage, divorce, childbearing and the like (except for The Newlyweds which is genuinely funny). If I have to see or hear about Trista and Ryan again I will scream!

Count me in as another person who is amazed that the level of interest in Survivor is this high...how many years has it been on??
We're not even going to get started on James.
Back in the day when Pokemon was just campy enough to be funny, there was a fantastic episode when James decided he was "a flaming phoenix" (or whatever the equivalent poke-name is) and when he dressed up in an orange bodysuit complete with feathers, Jesse mentioned the outfit must have "come out of the closet." That was why I used to love the show--plus the cuteness. Sometimes I'll turn it on now when I'm excessively bored and it's just no good at all.

Buena Vista has announced the "Wayne Brady Show" has been canceled. Since the show won 2 daytime emmys last year, it came as a complete surpsised to me. I never actually watched an entire show but he didn't seem to be so bad. Details at the following link.

Is The Caroline Rhea Show still on? I always thought it was funny how she was supposed to replace Rosie, but the scheduling people glossed over that fact by not even airing her show and switching it with WB's show (in NYC, at least).
Another thing that I thought was weird was how she filmed her show in NYC, yet it didn't even air here! I kept searching frantically for it and the only channel I could see it on was another state's affiliate on satellite. Does anyone have an explanation for this?
What a shame b/c Caroline Rhea is actually a pretty funny person, but her show was really crappy, imho.

Can someone please pull the plug on Everybody Loves Raymond? It just sucks. I can't even elaborate because it's so awful.
YES! I always feared I was some sort of cultural ingrate or something, or I was missing a deep, inner level of sophisticated humor on that show because I found it absolutely blah. No laughs. And yet everyone seems to be obsessed with it. My God, when will it DIE???

ChinkyGirl, the plug got pulled on The Caroline Rhea Show awhile ago. But like you said, it is odd that for a show that was taped in NYC, it wasn't shown there. I don't have an explanation for it other than possibly the local stations refused to air it, except maybe at some ungodly hour like in the middle of the night.

Brock's back again but they dumped Misty for a new girl who is dumber than all three members of Team Rocket combined and her annoying younger brother. Still the point has been made and the WB should but it out of it's misery.

Once again 8 Simple Rules. After John Ritter died, instead of canceling it out of respect for the man, ABC simply brought back as a corpse of its former self. Then because ABC knows that Katey Segal can't support it by herself( I love Katey segal but its true) they brought in an endless parade of celebrities playing grieving relatives. Now David Spade is tonight. David. Fucking. Spade. For God Sakes end it.

Can anyone explain to me why Tru Calling is still taking up air space?
I think Fox was counting on it being a cult hit. They were hoping erstwhile
Buffy fanatics would be wooed by the presence of Eliza Dushku and were never expecting a big audience, but a loyal one. They certainly couldn't have expected big numbers with the timeslot. And the ratings have improved slightly with the last few episodes, so they may be proven right after all.
Yeah, it's a bad show, but since when has that mattered to TV execs?

Jigga huh?
Dangermouse was a terrific show, and I firmly believe was the progenitor for a lot of tongue-in-cheek cartoons like
Tiny Toons and
Animaniacs. Of course, as you can see by my screen name, I'm kind of biased.
On topic, though...I think reality dating shows have pretty much hit their nadir. OK, so
The Bachelor(ette) is a hit. Does that really mean we also need
Joe Millionaire 2,
Average Joe,
Boy Meets Boy (which was at least a fresh, if cruel and stupid idea),
Blind Date,
5th Wheel, and countless others? I'm tired of seeing vapid famewhores get rewarded for being insufferable asses.

Last thing anyone needs is new episodes of Oliver Beene. I'm still getting over the ones I did see last year. This show is not funny. I hate all the characters. I can't believe it's taking up the same space as King of the Hill, Arrested Development, Malcolm and the Middle or god, even the lame Ian Maxwell Simpsons, which are still better viewng than this crap. if there were a thread devoted solely to meh shows that are absurdly overrated and praised, this show would be the first to leap to mind.
The first thing I thought of when I read this was

Will & Grace. Someone at those stations needs to be harmed.

Oy, enuff with the "Queer Eye" already!
How can they keep doing the same thing every week: Find a hapless goof, insult everything he believes in, "gay up" his house and clothes, cringe when he shaves against the grain (scripted. Not all straight men do that), etc.? It's the same damn show every week. And my wife loves it. I don't get it.

Desperate Housewives hasn't even aired yet but I'm already rooting for it to go down in flames and I hope it takes its creators with it. You may wonder why I have so much antipathy towards a show that has barely begun production. Two words--General Hospital. I hold Charles Pratt and Bob Guza, the creators of [i]Desperate Housewives[/b], responsible for destroying General Hospital. I hope everyone else connected with DH find jobs and success elsewhere but I want Desperate Housewives to become the television equivalent to Heaven's Gate so that Pratt and Guza will never find jobs in TV again.

Everything with the letters CSI..., Law& Order, The Practice, & Everyone Loves Raymond---I can not stand that man's voice. It just grates on my nerves. King of Queens, Life with Jim, My Wife and Kids boring. Reality shows, all of them...I watched MTV's Real World & Road Rules when my son was a young teen...why are they still on? Dumbing another generation down? The talk shows & court shows. People really think they can act up in court.
No show should go into syndication until three years of being off the air. My boredom level is increased ten-fold. The same crap in the daytime & at night & late night gets stale real quick.
I know that doesn't leave much. But, live sport events and drama without forensics could be fillers. Men in spandex/lycra chasing balls & pucks...a definate begining and end. I can sleep through them without missing anything...recaps are done & highlights.

Whenever I hear people complaining about shows that should be cancelled, I think of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where all the advertisement billboards come to life. Lisa and an ad exec sing a song about just not looking, and they'll go away. I always wondered why people just didn't stop watching the show.
Then I remembered I've been watching Charmed since it began, and spent the last three seasons saying, "Next week will be better." Sometimes it is just too hard to not look. And someone needs to cancel Charmed, because every next week... just gets worse, most of the time. I do like Chris...

I've never watched 7th Heaven...what's so "good" about it?
I will give you the abridged version:
Nothing.
Ha, ha. OK, I realized this before I came to TWoP and when I found out the recappers and everyone else here felt the same way I fell in love with the site. In a nutshell 7th Heaven is supposedly a "family" show that is all about a minister and his wife raising their children in Smalltown, USA (Glenoak on the show). But instead of showing us "good, Christian values" the entire family (the Camdens) is horribly manipulative, condesending and ignorant. I would say that the parents, Annie and Eric, are the worst characters but really, every character on the show has had his or her moment. There are sexist episodes, episodes that exploit the mentally handicapped, since the war in Iraq several episodes have been centered around the idea that anyone who dares to question the president and his choice to go to war is an America-hating communist....the list goes on. Read the recaps, they are wonderful and give you a really good idea of how bad the show is.
