The first post watershed soap about love, teenage angst, betrayal, secrets and Cornwall. Shut up, ITV. You can dicuss Echo Beach and its companion and better show, Moving Wallpaper, here.
So? First thoughts?
Echo Beach - Seriously. Stop it ITV. Stop making bad shows. Badly written, badly acted (Martine McCutcheon and Jason Donovan are the biggest "celebrities" on this train wreck), bad storylines and overall - bad show. The first two episodes lacked any kind of.. quality, really.
Moving Wallpaper - Now this however, is good. Good writing. Ben Elton (is that his name?) is a very good actor. There were a lot of moments to laugh at. "Snow job?" "I want a team of lawyers locked up in a room day and night with only a milk bottle to relive themselves into!". Congratulations, after so many bad attempts at "comedy", ITV finally gets it!
So, two very different opinions. Gonna open a poll, to see which you like best.
Post your thoughts, views and reviews of the first four episodes.

I'm from the UK but haven't watched it yet, I've heard that the fake behind the scenes programme for the soap is better than the soap itself, but it rips the heart out of the soap and it pretty much sucks too.

Wasn't it supposed to be a joke? I thought the whole show was a pee take of soaps in general, crappy storylines and bad acting included.
If it was supposed to be serious then yes it sucks but if it was meant as a joke (which is how I took it) it wasn't too bab and it had Ben from Hollyoaks in it, who is just yummy.

Oh Dippy, I wish it was a joke too.

I'm not sure if this show is a piss-take or not, and maybe I'm extremely easily pleased, but I'm actually kinda getting into it now. *ducks to avoid tomatoes* I thought that tonight's episode was pretty good. It wasn't spectacular, but it's what I expect from a post-watershed British "Home and Away". Besides, I really enjoy watching "Echo Beach" for the in-jokes coming from the sister show.

I've seen bits of two episodes and my God, this is terrible even for ITV. No one on this show can act at all.
Is it any better with Moving Wallpaper (I haven't seen that)?

Is it any better with Moving Wallpaper?
IMO, it's better to watch the two of them together. Moving Wallpaper is really witty, they kind of have in-jokes about the soap as well, like Susy Amy wants her character to have a line, then a character name, and a backstory etc. and she sleeps with the exec producer to do that.
I really should care about the bad acting but I only watch because of the pretty.

Cant the whole town explode? Please?
This show bombs, and I want to be shot for even acknologing its presence. But, on the other hand, Moving Wallpaper is one of the best things ITV have done in a longg time. Apart from this years I'm A Celeb. They messed up the X Factor and Dancing On Ice, and now they've gone and destroyed - and I mean - DESTROYED it. Silly silly ITV.
But does anyone care? Because, to quote Demian, CANCELLED!

I watched Moving Wallpaper. Fantastic show and actually funny.
I tried watching this again. Nearly wanted to scream. The acting is seriously that dreadful. It's enough to make other bad soaps look good.

You know, I really liked the idea of these two shows, but after the first ones, I can't seem to make myself watch it. They're just not holding me. I suppose I could watch MW on its own, but that seems a bit pointless.
Yeah, totally CANCELLED.

I feel the same. I know EB is supposed to be a parody in it's own way but my God, it's an awful one.
No amount of pretty is going to make this show good.
