From the WB.com:
Depressed over the failure of his marriage, Luke (Scott Patterson) resorts to a self-help tape and suddenly realizes that he already knows who his soul mate is. Later, when his sister Liz (guest star Kathleen Wilhoite) returns to town and announces that she and T.J. (guest star Michael Deluise) are getting married, Luke finds Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and convinces him to attend the wedding. Meanwhile, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) is completely stressed out as opening day at The Dragonfly Inn approaches, and Rory (Alexis Bledel) pretends not to be interested when Lorelai tells her she overheard Dean (Jared Padalecki) and his wife Lindsay (guest star Arielle Kebbel) fighting. Paris (Liza Weil) rethinks her relationship with Asher (guest star Michael York) after a health scare lands him in the hospital.
Awww...Luke and Lorelai. Lindsay and Dean need to better rehearse their fight scenes. And why does Lindsay not have a job if they need money? I thought seeing Asher's grandaughter would cause Paris to break up with him, but oh well. Jess was vaguely likeable. Go figure.

Whoa. Luke/Lorelai progress. Except Lorelai clearly doesn't realize it's a date, and it's clearly all going to go terribly wrong.
The first Luke/Jess scene, where SP was obviously talking to a stand-in, was really disconcerting. Espcially when they switched to the other camera angle with the real MV and he was in a position that made the first camera angle impossible.
Speaking of MV, is he on drugs or something? Or just supposed to look like he is? He just seems... off.

Okay they had better not mess w/ us again! I want my L/L romance and I want it not dammit!
But I did love this episode. I giggled like a little school girl during all of Luke's scenes... he's so dreamy.

Oh my! I am so giddy! I have been waiting years for this to happen, Luke is so cute with his tapes and his standing to avoid lap dances...I know she doesn't realize it's a date yet, but I don't want it to go horribly wrong. The previews looked promising, but I know better than to trust those. Ah well, I am so happy now, and I have a whole week at least before my hopes are dashed. Yay!

Okay, who else is gonna have a coronary if the season ender has confusion and hurt feelings where greatness should reign in Luke and Lor world?
It's already making me crazy. Finally, so close. . .and I'm already pissed that it'll be thwarted!
Luke in love is a sight to behold.
"Do you see her face?"
Hope so. I ran and pressed my nose against the screen.
[ETA, after seeing kieyra's post - MV did look too skinny and ill. Wonder what's up?]

Jess looks like Edward Scissorhands with that stoopid jacket.
Shout out! I own the sweater Rory was wearing in the hospital.
Be still my java junkie heart. Although I must say Luke's "whoa" was kinda cheesy. But yay! for the date. Even if Lorelai doesn't get it yet.
I wish this dumb plotline with Paris and the Professor would be over. I am so bored with it.
I loved the four of them sleeping with the zucchini. That was adorable.

Wow... this came on suddenly and all, but I think I've become a Jess/Rory shipper. Don't ask me where it came from cause I don't remember ever really caring either way, but that little convo he had with Luke was soo...
*sigh*
And Luke and Loriali... I have a feeling something is gonna go terribly wrong. I could just feel it. Anywho, loved this eppisode. Had a smile on my face the entire time I was watching.

Didn't like the "whoa" either. Shutting it off in annoyance would have been more in-character, IMHO.
Other than that, I don't have much to add, because I'm still in SQUEEE-mode. Gah, it is ridiculous how excited I get over the L/L goodness.
Also, Jess didn't make me want to claw my eyes out this ep. That's a first.

Best episode EVER!!!!!!!!
Well, best episode of this season, anyway. Honestly, I can't think of anything I DIDN'T like about it, except maybe that they forgot about Sookie's foot last week, but that's nitpicking. Here is an episode I can shamelessly rave over. A+. Instant classic.
All the Lorelai/Luke scenes were fantastic. I love that we finally have Luke and Jess expressing their real feelings. I love that Asher's granddaughter is the same age as, if not older than Paris and Rory, and maybe Paris will finally be coming to her senses. I loved the zucchini patch scene. I love Liz- I hope we get to see more of her next season because I really liked the character. And Scott Patterson actually made the self-help thing believable, and really funny. I loved the "Can you see her face?" part when he just stopped and said, "Wow." And random observation- Luke totally stole Rory's "I'm leaving first" line.
Amy and Daniel really need to write more episodes together, because this was wonderful- funny, touching, romantic, everything we love about this show. If there was any doubt about whether or not Gilmore Girls is still good, this should erase it.

Awwwwwwwwww! Oh, first time poster here. Now, where wasI? Oh yeah. Awwwwwwww! I love Luke and Lorelai. Lilorphan, you're right. Luke in love is a sight to behold. But I just know they'll find some way to mess it up next week. It probably won't be anything Luke telling Lorelai how he feels and her rejecting him. It will be more like Luke working up the nerve to tell her and just about to do it, when Lorelai says something to him like how glad she is to have him for a friend or that she can't handle another relationship right now. And then we'll see Luke smile in support and know that his heart is breaking. Geez, I'm sorry to be such a downer! I'm just preparing myself for the worst because when It comes to Luke and Lorelai, the writers seem to delight in torturing us!!!!!

Lindsay and Dean need to better rehearse their fight scenes.
Yes. God, that was horrible. It felt terribly forced and badly acted.
But Luke's journey with the tapes made up for it.
Also, this exchange:
"They're good."
"Good not great?"
"Great."
"Great not fabulous?"
"Fabulous."
"Fabulous not MONDO fabulous?"

That was nice! There was one moment where Luke looked really relaxed and happy - it surprised me! I liked that Jess seemed happier - he was such a jerk last year, and when he last visited. Of course, that could have been wishful thinking on my part...
I was excited when I thought Paris was going to break up with Asher. That, I think, is the only way that the relationship could end well for her. I still don't like Prof Fleming much, mainly because of fear for Paris.
As much as I love the Luke/Lorelai 'ship, the self-help revelation was extremely obvious. It was cute, but obvious. Still, next week looks like it will be fun!
Would Dean really have an argument in such a public place? I don't know if Lindsey minds, but I thought Dean at least would be more concerned about people being, you know, next to the open door.
I missed the elder Gilmores. Even though there was an explanation (and it made sense with their storyline) I would have liked to have seen them a bit.

Oh, and I forgot to add- I like that Lorelai is being sensitive about Emily and Richard's problems. It was good of the writers to bring it up this week, but I think it's nice that Lorelai is acknowledging their feelings and waiting until they're ready to say something.

Wow, that may have been the best GP-less episode ever (not that there are many GP-less episodes, of course). That scene where he started quoting the "Love" tapes... wow, I haven't laughed that thoroughly in a good long while. Seriously, that was awesome. I'm one of the few people who really couldn't care less whether Luke and Lorelai ever "get together", but I must say that a happy Luke (more like "giddy" Luke at the end of this episode) is an entertaining Luke; so, I'm all for it if it makes him happy.
Has anyone else noticed that Luke is always at his best when Jess is in the episode? Now, for all I care, Jess could never get within a hundred yards of Rory and it would suit me just fine. However, I coming to hope for his future appearances just because of how well the Luke/Jess scenes come off now days.

I agree with everyone else on MV's appearance. When I first saw him I was like "What happened to tan yummy Jess?" Maybe he should be having those carrots instead of Rory. Tonight, his character seemed a lot more like him in Season 2, instead of some careless jackass. He kept showing that he cared what people thought instead of just blowing them off. I've missed that Jess. The last half of Season 3 made it really hard to be a R/J shipper.
For Lindsay getting all pissy about Dean being friends with Rory, you would think she would've have not chose to have a fight in front of Lorelai. I was surprised that Lindsay would be at home all day. I know Dean seemed to like the Donna Reed concept, but when you're young and broke, you don't always get what you like.
As for Luke and Lorelai....YAY!!!!!!
And also, "yarn balls." Dirty!

How much can I possibly love Luke? I love him when he is a grumpy, depressed downer. I love him when he is a sarcastic, snarky control freak. I love him when he is a secret friend to those in need. And I adore him with every molecule of my being when he is giddy with a newly-discovered purpose in life.
I haven't stopped grinning yet!

Great Episode. I'm totally a Luke/Lorelai shipper so I'm all over this.
- Jess looks like he's smoking crack.
- Luke and Lorelai: EEEEEEE! Luke in love is hilarious.
- Jess and Rory: So over it.
- Asher and Paris: Ewww. No chemistry. Needs to end.
- I actually laughed a lot at this episode. The fat video. The cats on Lorelai's doorstept. The Self-Help tape.
I feel like the whole season is finally coming to fruition and next year everything will be back on track.

I actually did a little dance at all the Luke/Lorelai parts. Seriously. They're just too darned cute together sometimes! The Shel-in-the-kitchen moment was wicked awesome, as was the last part with Luke asking her to the wedding. And the promos look good, but I'm with the others who aren't getting their hopes up.
This Paris/Asher romance thing can bore me sometimes. And did Rory really even do anything? I wasn't paying much attention to when she was on.
I thought Jess looked different, but now I see it since you guys mentioned it: he looks totally sickly. And I think the hair is longer.
Loved Luke giving Jess the tapes at the end.

It will be more like Luke working up the nerve to tell her and just about to do it, when Lorelai says something to him like how glad she is to have him for a friend or that she can't handle another relationship right now.
I'm already getting queasy, thinking about how Lorelai is going to blow this opportunity and send HappyLuke back into hiding. Grrrrrrrrr.
SP and MV are always good together. The scene where Jess finally mumbled that he had come back to town
because of Luke was touching.

I agree with everyone about the Luke scenes, I couldn't believe he worked up the nerve to ask her out. Love him.

Have we seen Paris and Asher having a conversation before, I don't remember seeing them together as a couple. I can't believe the professor is serious about Paris, but is she serious or just flattered? Because I thought she was going to break up with him. I really want her to be the one to end this relationship when it finally ends.

GAH! I missed the first thirty minutes AGAIN! Anyway, I may have missed whatever justification Jess had to act like he did, so did he have any justification? Because he acted like such a jerk in this episode, and I'm not a Jess-hater. "Thank you Luke, for taking me back after I was such a jerk to you. In my gratification I will go back to school and/or get a job." What ever happened to Sasha and Lily? I loved Sasha and Lily. And Luke took it really really well! He wasn't mad or anything like that, and at the end when Jess said,"I told Rory I love her," instead of Luke being,"YOU DO WHAT?!" he said,"You did what?" in the tone of voice as though that's a common relationship mistake that poor naive fools sometimes do not realizing how women work, like Jess had said something cliched like,"I assumed when she ment 'oh nothing' nothing was wrong," or some other thing you'd get in romantic comedies. Is what I just said confusing?
TJ reminds me of Sienfeld with his lap speech, obsessing over nothing. "What's up with that?" It's funny because it's true, you know.
YES! L/L SHIPPERS UNITE! I'm glad that there is some romance but the self-help tape was really cheesy (on purpouse, of course, and funny, but they did it too many "you can see her face" so I didn't like it.) I couldn't stop making fun of it. After a few,"Do you see her face?" I said,"Well, if you do, you're an obsessed stalker and it should be fairly obvious, stupid."
I've noticed a trend. In Tick,Tick,Tick,BOOM! Lorelai was talking about the anvils (some people thought that it was foreshadowing for the surprise ending) and in this episode when Paris and Rory were in the hospital (which I am pleased to 0say was quite original and every time I thought,"This is so going to happen," it didn't happen. Asher didn't break up with Paris, it wasn't a soap drama scene with Asher having cancer, his granddaughter was not his girlfriend that would meet up with Paris with a big confrontation or something like that, etc.) Rory said some type of joke, I can't remember it but it included anvils. Am I looking way too into this?
On the scenes from the next Gilmore Girls...they've been plugging the Jess and Rory scene since Tick,Tick,Tick,Boom. Is it finally going to happen? She better not go away with him! I mean, aside from the fact he's a jerk, even Luke said,"You're still stuck up over her? She's old news!" and Rory would never do that. I hope they keep Jess in GG, but not as Rory's boyfriend. I yearn for Sasha and Lily like some other people yearn for Marty.
I missed the second half. Can anyone give me a quick recap of it? The first half was good!
Lorelai, Sookie, and Michel are doing some Dragonfly stuff and Sookie says Jackson is,"sleeping with the zuchinnis." She means that literally, he's sleeping in the zuchinni field to make sure they're not cold. Everyone goes over to him and they decide to take some stuff off the to-do list. Everyone falls asleep and they wake up refreshed.
Paris calls Rory, saying that Asher is in the hospital. She considers breaking up with him since he might die soon anyway but doesn't. Asher talks about how special Paris is and they decide to go to England together. His granddaughter (who looks the same age as Paris) shows up.
Luke was listening to his self help tapes which told him how to find his soul mate. The guy said,"When *bla bla bla* thing happens, do you see her face? When you need a frien, do you see her face?" et cetera et cetera and Luke says,"Woah," realizing who his sould mate is. Jess, Luke, TJ and some other guys went to a bachelor party with strippers and mud wrestlars and TJ asked Jess to walk Liz down the aisle. Jess refused and a fight broke out. Later on Luke talked to Jess, and found out what that he had said,"I love you," to Rory and Luke started talking about his self-help tapes and the episode ended with him giving them to Jess.
The scenes from the next Gilmore Girls show Luke and Lorelai on what appears to be a date and another scene with Rory, Dean, and Jess. Dean leaves looking disgusted and Jess says something along the lines of,"Let's run away together!"

You know whats really awesome? I have yet to see one post where someone goes "Oh man, they're putting Luke and Lorelai together. They are soooo not meant for eachother." Everyone just knows that its going to happen and that its going to be fan-fucking-tastic. I'm so happy right now. The episode rocked, the ending rocked, the previews rocked. It rocked, ok? It really, truly rocked. I know, enough with the rocks. But atleast I'm not having the urge to throw such rocks at the television screen like I usually do after a GG episode. Way to go Amy & Dan - ya'll need to write together way. more. often.

Thanks so much NewbiaTheElf. Stupid kids I had to babysit!
The first half started with Lor freaking out b/c cats were on her doorstep and she thought she was going to be the cat lady since she just failed in another relationship. This translates to her not sleeping and leaving 20 messages of things to do at the inn. She goes to Luke's at 5 in the morning b/c she drinks all the coffee in her house and he lets her in and makes her a healthy breakfast. He also agrees to go to the inn and tour since he's an investor. While they're both there, Sookie tries to set Lor up with the new vendor so Lor puts her arms around Luke to pretend that they're together and get rid of the vendor guy.
Not much happens with Rory, except she is frustrated with Paris using her as a way to see Asher (she hangs out with Rory after class until everyone else leaves). Rory clearly thinks Paris is going to get heartbroken and is wary of the whole situation.
The last part I saw had Luke's sister (Chloe? Or maybe that was her ER name) telling him she was getting married and that Jess wasn't coming. Luke visited Jess in his dump of an apartment and yelled at him.

Aren't you glad that they never showed Asher touching Paris, muchless kissing her? They ARE sparing us from seeing that horrible concept.
I loved that Luke would not sit down for fear of creating a lap.
I love that I don't miss Digger even though I had started to almost like him, yet I cannot fathom that Lorelai has not found Luke to be attractive from day one. He has the best profile on tv--really, check out his nose. It's a thing of beauty.

Was that the dullest strip club ever shown on television? Geez, they should have just gone to a ball game since it was such a lame place, but even still, Jess brought a book? He's like a male counter-Rory - one that no one really likes.
I love the idea of Luke/Lorelai together, but the way he asked her to go to Liz's wedding rubbed me the wrong way. For him, it's clearly a date and for her it's not. It's like being told you're getting a great surprise present and having it turn out to be something you dread.
Loved sleeping with the zucchini.
That was such a sweet scene.
Really, besides from learning to cook all day and bringing Dean lunch, what exactly does Lindsey do all day?
Think of big ticket items she can coerce Dean into purchasing for her while convincing him that she is not required to make a monetary contribution? I've know couples who married young - not one of them isn't in a two income household.
eta - Was anyone else humming "Home to Skid Row" during the L/J scene in Jess' apartment?

We had enough of that in
Ted Koppel's Big Night Out, I still have nightmares.
Speaking of Paris and Asher, I was kind of glad to see Paris wanting to end things before they got too serious and then she kind of backed, he's still old.
I loved the teaser with the cats, as a single woman, I too have those visions of cats and being all alone, and I am only 22.
I thought the funniest thing was when Lorelai and Luke pretended to be a couple for the poultry guy and just the way she had to crank his arm around her was priceless.
I've never thought CuteDean was the greatest actor, but maybe he should only interact with Lorelai or Rory, because when combined with Lindsay, it just becomes more wooden.
I really want to tell Lindsay to get a job. GET A JOB!

She spends far too much time at the tanning booth. My god she's orange! And a horrible actress, too.
This was such a great episode. I loved Luke hiding the self-help tapes, all the Inn people in the zucchini, and all the scenes between Luke and Jess. Although, if the wedding isn't for another week, why is Jess already at Luke's?
And Luke and Lorelai. Eeee! He was so cute asking her on a date, and please please please let it go well. Is next week the season finale?
Edited because I'm going to admit, right here, right now, I'm getting my hopes up for Luke and Lorelai to get together. We're talking sky-high, people. I've never cared about any TV couple this much, and maybe I'm a crazy lady (sans cats, though), but I adore Luke and I want him to be happy and I want him and Lorelai to be happy.

I married my husband when we were 20 and 21, just a tad older than Lindsey and Dean. We both had a good idea of what we were getting into, but I knew a few Lindseys, since we went to a college where lots of couples married young. They want a "husband" and a "marriage," in quotes, not a husband and a marriage. Lindsey wants to be a cute teenager AND a wife. She wants a cute boyfriend-type guy to play with, AND a townhouse. In most cases, the Lindsey either grows up or winds up leaving, and this Lindsey is sure not growing up.

My god is that Asher & Paris subplot so snooze worthy. I didn't think it was possible to make Paris Gellar boring. Annoying, frustrating, entertaining as hell, but never boring. Yet, Amy & Daniel were able to do it. What's worse is this non-story has been dragged out for most of the season. End it now! End it now!
I liked, didn't love, the rest of it. Hopefully the Luke & Lorelai hookup isn't derailed, before it gets started again. The show really seems to be struggling this season with finding some direction for Lorelai & Rory on the romance front. This was still substantially more interesting than anything in the 1st half of the season.

I just realized the one thing that bothers me about this episode, which is that it makes last week's seem so contrived. How convenient that Luke just happened to be getting his divorce finalized around the same time Lorelai broke up with Digger (and said breakup seemed not only forced, but boring).
I don't mean to be a downer, I've been on the L/L train a long time and I'm very glad to see the show coming out of its horrible slump this past winter. If L/L get together or, hell, continue to get more than three minutes together per episode, I just want the writers to handle it with some subtlety and fer gossake do it right. I want the self-help tapes to be the last cheesy aspect, darn it.
ETA: In the interest of fair & balanced reporting, I should mention that I loved the entire zucchini schtick, even Lorelai making Sookie explain it five times, and I generally have a limited tolerance for teh quirk and humor based on repetition.

Speaking of MV, is he on drugs or something? Or just supposed to look like he is? He just seems... off.
Whether or not Milo is on drugs I have no idea but I think the problem here was just bad, bad, bad hair. Flat, too long, parted for cryin out loud. Yikes! Apart from that, by the end of the episode I was reminded why I was all for Jess in the beginning. So thank you Amy for making an attempt to clean up the mess you made of him. Luke's attitude during that conversation made it that much better. I like them both so much more when they get along and he made some great points about Jess' behavior towards Rory, his mother and the world in general. I wouldn't mind it if Rory did go off with him over the summer if only to get closure on the issue. Certainly she doesn't need to be spending any time with Dean who clearly needs to work on or end his ill conceived marriage.
I didn't notice the wooden acting by Dean and Lindsey because I was too busy yelling "Get a freakin job already Princess!!"
Also, I thought it was kind of fun for them to have the DeLuise brothers playing brothers and the little shout out to their dad was great.
The Professor? Totally played Paris. I have no doubt. He knows he is too old for a 19 year old girl and also knew that his collaspe was certain to call her attention to the problems of a geriatric uh, man-friend. Played her. Like a violin.
I don't think Luke and Lorelai are bound to be derailed. I do think that Lor will be hesitant because of the whole friends ==> lovers thing but I have faith in Luke now that he has acknowledged to himself what we've known all along. He's a sexy manly-man under that flannel. It's time he uses it and she won't stand a chance because he is exactly the person she needs to balance her out. Yay Java Junkies!!

Really!!! just tossed the dude out of the "chop shop" with unstable angina??? Hope he didn't take Paris home and do the horizontal mamba with her, eh, dead man on top! This show makes me insane, really is Jackson so mentally challenged that he'd really sleep in the veggie bed to ensure some fruits are not going to get frost bite? Is Stars Hollow the alternate Stepford? Everyone being neat little couples, is not realistic, nor is repeating the same boyfriends for infinity from age 16 through college et al. Rory needs to actually become involved with being a Yalie, and Luke needs to see where Lorilie head's at before chasing her for a relationship. Jeeze. Oh, why do I bother to watch this wacked out world.

her "Don't touch my stomach" comment. Playful, or foreshadowing?
Mostly I thought it was playful. I may be a freak, but I also took it as a reference back to her dream where Luke rubbed her stomach while she was pregnant.
I hate Paris & the prof. Squicky. Please end it, writers.
Well, Lindsay is very pleasant, isn't she? I felt for her when she overheard Rory bitching about her, and when Dean chose to keep talking to Rory, but she really sucks. Her husband is working late so he can make money for the house
she wants. Why doesn't she try getting a job, or doing some volunteer work, if she's so bored?
This was the very first time I ever liked Jess. I think I need to check my temperature.

Wonderful episode.
But I LOVE cats, darn it. I have three, I am single, and I do not, by any means, consider myself a loser. The "cat" plot spurs me not to defend my own choices but to defend cats as a species against pop culture's all-around shabby treatment of them.
My happily married parents have a cat. I have married friends who own cats. Cats are beautiful, graceful animals, perfect for those of us who enjoy the companionship of pets but find dogs, while adorable, a trifle too needy. Enough with the cat owner stereotypes, already!!
Lindsay, honey, you would be a lot less bored and a lot less dependent on your obviously indifferent husband for a little excitement in your life if you actually -- had -- an -- IDENTITY! of your OWN! (Grrrr...)
I appreciated the final scene in which Lorelai bonded with her friends in the zucchini patch. Those moments when Lorelai is written as a good friend and a more giving person than we sometimes see are first-class for me.
Partly because Rory has disappointed me so much this season. Paris and Lane are so much more interesting and so much better acted that I've wished more than once that one of THEM was the teen protagonist.
(But this may be a WB thing. Since "Buffy" left the network, has there been an appealing teenage female protagonist on that network? I'm not talking supporting character, like Smallville's Chloe; I'm talking the teen female who stands at the center of things. From the general buzz, they all seem pretty ineffectual and unlikeable.)
Where is the Rory who would rather read at lunch than discuss the euthanasia of homecoming? Who comforts a boy she doesn't even like when she sees him get his heart broken at a dance? Who can actually make a "zinger" work? ("I don't like people with weird names." "Well, 'Lem,' what can I say?") Bring that girl back, and cut the zombie loose!
But the one character who absolutely never disappoints is Luke. To paraphrase "The Best Years of Our Lives," Luke should be put in mass production. Without question, he has the tenderest heart of any character on the show, but he wears it in such an unsentimental way that he's unfailingly disarming. Who wouldn't love him? (Sigh) I was so pleased with the heavy dose of Luke that I, too, almost forgot to notice that Kelly Bishop never showed up. (Oh, well, she'll be back.)

Did anyone else think that the reason Asher stressed the word "old" was because he overheard Paris ranting by the desk? Even though I believe she said it in the quieter post-refreshment rant?
I don't know how close that nurses' desk was to his room, though.
TJ just annoys me. Hate him digging at Luke, even if it's supposed to be all fun & games. Neither of them can have forgotten that TJ called Luke a jerk, after all.
I was also waiting for him to knock down Jess in the cheesy bar. And then he almost did (or actually did, nice cut to that scene). I don't like Jess' character anymore but man, TJ had no right to get all up in arms.
Hated Jess' hair too.
Oh, and was it also just me, or when after Jess showed up at the bar and sat down, and it sort of looked like he picked up the beer next to him (and that looked like it either just appeared or it was the guy's next to him), that suddenly we get a shot from a different angle and Luke is looking at Jess like something just happened that we didn't get to see?
Does that make sense?
Maybe Luke was wondering where the beer came from too.

Did anybody find it Lorelai calling the cats "bastards" funny? Yeah, I'm a geek, but that's how my dad and me always say it, dramaticy and what not.
I think I almost liked Jess. That hasn't happened since early in the third season. Huh.
I keep trying to root for CuteDean, but man, grow a pair and tell your wife to get off her ass and get a job! What happened to the sweet pre-marriage Lindsay? Someone needs to tell the writers that making her a bitch and CuteDean a pussy is just boring.
I know Dean seemed to like the Donna Reed concept, but when you're young and broke, you don't always get what you like.
To be fair to Dean, I believe that when he said he liked The Donna Reed concept, he liked it because of the family aspect. He used his mom as an example because she would work and still come home and cook dinner. The point being, his mom actually had a
job and didn't just sit around being bored all day.

I am still giddy and giggling. Wonderful episode! Luke and Lorelai, right from the beginning: from picking her up off his front step to his arm around her (I love when Lorelai pretends she and Luke are a couple; always funny); from the picking-of-twig off her hair to the asking-out. Yes, I was disappointed with the obvious look on her face/tone of her voice that showed that she was none-the-wiser, but, hopefully, it'll all lead up to some great realization process and maybe soon the L/L ship shall sail! I mean, the trailer! The gorgeousness! The dancing! Yeah, y'all don't listen to Promo Guy anymore, but my expectations are still high.
Luke and the tapes: someone upthread said that his "whoa" was out-of-character. Was it really? I mean, we had him making fun of the tapes, shaking his head at them, etc. He didn't think they'd work, but when Tape Guy asked him to think of that special person, it just...I don't know...made him realize. It was sweet. But I wanted to throddle Tape Guy's neck.
Rory and Jess. Meh. Never got into 'em. Jess did seem better than S3-Jess, and him being there for Luke was sweet. But, just leave. Get over Rory. I think I don't want those two to get together because of L/L. I mean, if those two hook up, Rory will be dating her step-cousin! It just freaks me out.
Paris and Asher. Did anyone else think Asher was not being genuine and that he'll dump her while in England? His lines seemed so phony; I couldn't believe Paris bought it all! But, then again, I'm just a suspicious person.
Michel! "We need 10 references because people are imbeciles!" V. akin to "People are particularly stupid today, I do not wish to speak to them". Is why I adore him!
Jackson and co. sleeping with zucchinis? Awww. I wanna sleep with zucchinis because it seemed so darn comfortable!
That is all.

Jess must go away. Dean must get divorced, but stay the hell away from Rory. Rory must have a life at Yale. That is all I ask.
Well, maybe not all. I also ask that Luke and Lorelai get together on the show. And that I be allowed to sleep with zucchinis and Lauren Graham in the really real world.

I should mention that I loved the entire zucchini schtick, even Lorelai making Sookie explain it five times, and I generally have a limited tolerance for teh quirk and humor based on repetition.
I thought it was pretty good, but I liked the anvils one better. Though this one had the word "zucchini."
I think the problem here was just bad, bad, bad hair. Flat, too long, parted for cryin out loud.
Oh God. I mean, if you have hair that long, you don't part it on the
side.
Did anyone else think that the reason Asher stressed the word "old" was because he overheard Paris ranting by the desk?
That's what I thought, too.

The funniest line all night came from my husband as he watched Luke and Lorelai in the Inn's kitchen. To quote: "Just throw her on the table and lay her already!"
Milo's hair was longer and that made him look skinnier to me. He probably couldn't cut it because of the pilot he was shooting for ABC.
I have always loved the Luke/Jess scenes and agree that those are Luke's best scenes.
I don't like ragging on an actor's ability, but it was painful to watch Jared and what's-her-name. Regardless of the state of their marriage, whether he made a mistake in marrying Lindsay, Dean did ask her and should do whatever it takes to make it work. Lindsay should too. I really don't like it when the writers make one of the partners look bad when both parties are at fault.
I'm not a major javajunkie, but I really got excited for their eventual pairing. "Giddy Luke", sigh.

I have yet to see one post where someone goes "Oh man, they're putting Luke and Lorelai together. They are soooo not meant for eachother." Everyone just knows that its going to happen and that its going to be fan-fucking-tastic.
I am actually not a Java Junkie and although I'm all for Luke-centric episodes (seeing as he is my TV husband) I'm not a huge supporter of this ship. But that's okay -- I'm used to being the minority.
I loved the scene with Lorelai, Sookie, Michel and Jackson for reasons that I can't articulate.
I agree with thinking that Jess looked awful. And the Dean and Lindsay stuff was pretty bad too. They're making her into such a caricature. And Dean's hair just gets worse every single episode he's in. Can't they have a young male character with nice hair (oh wait they did and now he's in the OC)?
Not much else except I loved SP in this episode. I thought he was fantastic.

Did anyone else have Emily flashbacks to "Forgiveness and Stuff" when Paris was ranting at the hospital staff? I'm not sure if it was a homage or what but Paris and Emily are similar characters in spirit.

I didn't mind Dean's hair once I saw the horrible mop of hair Jess was sporting. Seriously, it sucks and I was distracted the entire time because of it.
I love Luke, and I love that Luke loves Lorelai. 4 years is about the longest time I've EVER seen a tv show (much less the WB) go without hooking up two characters (even Xander and Willow hooked up in the 3rd season). Now of course there has to be a pregnancy scare next season because the WB can't let one of those get away, the bastards. No, I'm not bitter over Everwood.
I don't think Fleming overheard Paris calling him old...he IS old, so he can say that. Plus, I think if he had overheard, he would've been more understanding that Paris wanted to end things with him, instead of trying to reconcile things. I had hoped that Paris would freak when she met his granddaughter, or vice versa, but they all seemed...cool with it. Ick.
