One that would be fun to do a riff on is Erica's unfinished line, "Most sisters share clothes, but you two..." Put it over a photo of Kinks being Kinksy, and maybe fill in the blank at the bottom. Heh.
I like that one...although I think it'd be better not to finish it- leave it to people's imaginations...kinda like Kinks on the show.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to return to lurkerdom.

Yeah, I agree, Diet Coke. Especially if that quote was used over the Sisplendor picture, which as kariyaki says is the coupliest photo ever and leaves no doubt about what's going on. Heh heh.
kariyaki, your dream was so sweet. You're losing your edge! (S'okay, same happened to me--I despise children and yet I love the Kinks lovechild. I even thought Baby Mimo was cute, and I never think babies are cute.) Aw, Bianca with a mini-Bianca. I really do hope that in a few years, they can find a little girl who looks something like Eden and hopefully has some real acting chops to play Miranda and let her grow up onscreen in real time. Because of the circumstances of her family, and her conception, she's going to be one hella interesting kid in a very unusual family and AMC should not rush through that.
Oh, and you rock for telling your friend about Kinks. How did you bring it up? It really is so fun to clue people in (when you know they'll be cool).
kariyaki
Mar 21, 2004 @ 2:37 pm
Well, my friend is always asking me what's happening on AMC. She doesn't watch (has never watched) but says that the way I describe it makes it sound really interesting (I have this knack for that, which is why I've managed to hook a countless amount of people on shows that I watch). So... I told her--complete with illustrations.

I'm just dying over how you started off light and then built up, and am trying to imagine just how the progression of pictures went. (I hit my friend hard right out of the gate with the puppy-dog-eyes scene.) You should make a slideshow or something! Set to an appropriate piece of music...

You are a dirty dirty girl. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
*blushes* And I thought I was doing such a good job of hiding it. *snicker*
MysticO! I was wondering where you were! *hug*
I guess I'll grab a seat by you on the sled and we can be clueless together, because I'm a Lianca fan and I wasn't offended by Eden's comments, either.
I'm there beside you both, it didn't bother me at all. I feel like she answered a direct question in the most diplomatic manner possible. And word to actors having to be careful about throwing their support directly behind any ship, because they never know in what direction the writers will take a ship or character. I remember Martha Byrne taking much shit from her fans for appearing to support a Simon/Lily pairing in an interview a few years ago (which, due to the stink that fans raised, never went anywhere). Got to be careful, and I think Eden was careful in her response.
kariyaki, that story is hella funny. I did the exact same thing trying to show a friend why it is believed, by some--not
me *ahem*, that there is something a little wonky about the relationship of two actresses, who shall remain nameless. *cough* I first read some interview answers aloud, then took her on a tour of the pictures on my hard drive. It was hilarious. "Well, they're good friends, and when you're good friends. . .
WHOA, that picture's a little. . .all right, yeah, OK, there's something going on." Tee Hee.
And I had the weirdest dream last night.
Me too! But, weird in a good way. MiMo wasn't there, though. I was walking across a bridge next to a harbor, when all of the sudden I heard a woman's voice calling out, "Hey, excuse me, miss?" So, I turned around and looked out across the water, and Amanda Peet was sitting in a small row boat, looking at me. She said that she didn't know how to control a boat and was a bit scared. I told her that it looked like she was doing fine to me. Then, two seconds later she crashed the boat into a yacht and screamed for me to go onboard another yacht that was moored right next to me to ask for help. So, I went onboard and walked past three guys, who appeared to be crew (why I didn't tell them, I have no idea) and walked to stairs leading to the bridge and said, "Excuse me, is anyone up there?" So, then I heard the sound of high heels on the wooden stairs, then caught of glimpse of sexy black boots coming down the stairs, and then I looked up and it was Alicia Minshew in a pair of tight jeans and a maroon turtleneck sweater. I told her that a woman had just wrecked a row boat and told me to come onboard for help. And Alicia said, "Just
fabulous! I told her not to go out on that thing. Great, just great!" So, then I shrugged my shoulders and left, and walked to a carnival. Leave that one to Freud. But, it was nice, I mean Amanda Peet and Alicia Minshew. . .that's a lot of pretty.
ETA:
Skiffy, I, of course, wish that my subconscious was as direct as yours. Amanda Peet and Alicia Minshew getting it on. . .ummm, ummm. Damn my subconscious mind and its obsession with over-determined symbolism. Feh.

Oh,
Skiffy's just playing with you. She knew what she was doing when she invented "girlfister". Ignore her protestations of innocence. Hee! It took a couple of us quite a while to warm up to using "girlfister" precisely because it's so very, very, very dirty.
onewomanshow, like you, my subconscious is generally indirect and obsessed with symbolism. (Kinks amiably arguing over a grocery list? The hell?) However, I'm pleased to report that I finally had a dream in which Bianca was all concerned about Kendall's trial, and I was Bianca for a moment, as she gave her GF comfort snuggles. It was actually a lot like the Sisplendor Lap of Love, only Kendall was sitting further up and my/Bianca's arm was around her waist. Of course, my subconscious is still stupid, because while I do think Kendall's sexy and all, I would've preferred to be Kendall giving Bianca comfort snuggles so that I could feel up the Rack-o-SORAS and Glorious Abs. Maybe next time.

Hee. It's standard McTrash. She tortures her favorite characters and actors endlessly--the idea being that it gives them screentime and loads of dramatic material. True enough, and no soap actor really wants to hear about their character being completely and totally happy for long, but McTrash has never learned how to tell when it's Too. Much. I have to admit I still kind of chuckle whenever I think about the amount of shit she put her favorite Guiding Light supercouple through. They finally managed to have a big wedding and then he fell off the yacht during their honeymoon. Snerk. Also, Alexa cracked me up with her "prayer" before using the phone at Chez Hot Doctor David's. I feel the same way. I don't hate the SL yet, but I'm apprehensive about it. But I'm so Alicia's and Eden's bitch that I'd watch them do anything, really. And I think I will like all the character drama it will give to Erica, Bianca, and Kendall.

Yup, that's true. Alicia and Eden could read the phone book and I'd watch. If nothing else, I think it'll give us some of the Kinksiest Kinks that ever Kinksed.
Let's start with Kendall finding Bianca at the crash site. Probably no CPR--damn--but I figure that we ought to get Kendall cradling an unconscious Bianca in her arms and weeping over her. Yup, I know what you mean, but here the definition of "double post" is just when two posts appear from the same person in a row, even if they're on different subjects/replying to different posts. There are lots of times when you'll post and then see after your post that someone else made a post in the interim that you want to reply to also, and in that case, you just hit the "edit" button and add your comments in. Don't worry, I promise we're not ogres or anything here and the rules are few and really not that much trouble once you get acclimated.

This is exactly how I feel on the whole Finding Mimo storyline. I'm seeing so much backlash on it (especially in the OLTL thread) but I am honestly looking forward to it.
Sure, I hate that Kendall and Bianca will be cheated out of Mimo's first formative months etc, etc but I'm a sucker for the drama that it entails which is why it's sucking me in. I will also watch Alicia and Eden do ANYthing (I downloaded
American Dreams for God's sake and I'd never seen an episode before in my life) and if it they cross their butts over to OLTL for some episodes, I will certainly be following them over there. But only under that one circumstance and only through SoapNet. There ain't no way in hell that I'm picking that suckfest show back up nor am I going to watch through the network. ATWT won my heart years ago and it doesn't have reruns. It gets top priority in that timeslot.

whether Kinks has gotten their kid back or not, I'll be fine. I'm hoping that the anticipation is worse than the actual outcome will be, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe Crazianca won't go quite as berserk with her girlfister by her side. Here's to hoping. *crosses fingers*

Well, being raped is totally different from thinking your child is dead, plus this time Bianca's loved ones will be aware and there from the get-go. So for those two reasons, I don't expect a recurrence of Crazianca. Plus, a lot of Crazianca also stemmed from her cracking under the strain of trying to make everything appear normal when it wasn't and protect her mother, which isn't really possible here since everyone knows what happened and she's rejecting her mother. That said, I would really appreciate seeing her damn therapist finally make an onscreen appearance, not that I expect it to happen.

U-huh. Look, there's a unicorn! Heh heh.
Crazianca will only hold back for the
brainstorming which, in a perverse, perverted and hailed twist, will give her much more power to go nuts. Erica's hair will stand on end - not that we'll notice - and Babe will soothe her back to normalcy. Maggie? Maggie will make Bianca mutter in the streets.

Hey, Kinksaholics, thought I'd delurk long enough to chime in: I hate, hate, hate the whole nasty storyline looming on the horizon. Hate. It. Enough to consider abandoning the show--except that I get drawn back in by the Kinksy goodness. Plus I'm looking forward to seeing Kendall smack Erica around.
Oh, and how's this for fanwanking: Babe saw a speed-dial button on Dr. David's phone marked "hospital" and hit the botton--thus getting the PVH nurses' station instead of somebody who could actually help. See? Then she's not too stupid to dial 911. No? Ok then. I can't believe I'm even attempting to to make Babe less stupid, but she's actually endearing when she's away from (as in, not screwing or getting yelled at by) her gay husband and his brother.
For the record: I loathe Ryan. I wish Screechy McFrankenbrow would just step away from Greenlee, stop grabbing women and shoving them around and go wrap his stupid motorcycle around a tree and put us all out of our misery. I'm serious, I liked Carlos better than that creep and Carlos was a complete waste of skin.

Mimo has a huge head.
StageBabyMimo got a promising future in TV and movies, then. Heh. (I read somewhere that many actors have heads a little too big for their bodies, literally.) Speaking of Mimo's appearance, was anyone else trying to tell what color her eyes are? In the one really good close-up shot of Mimo, her eyes seemed to be like a really deep blue--almost black, but not quite. Which makes no sense, unless I'm completely misremembering Michael's eye color. I know about recessive genes and that blue eyes are scientifically within the realm of possibility for a child of Bianca and Michael, but...
See, that's the backlash that I don't get.
What I can't understand is the OLTL backlash--most of them don't watch AMC and never have, and because they don't know Bianca or Babe at all,
overall the story should be less upsetting.I admit I'm less than thrilled, as mentioned, but I also know that this is a soap and constant drama is the very nature of the genre. Mostly I object simply because I know it'll make me cry, and I hate crying. Doesn't mean I won't watch and worship at Eden and Alicia's altar. They couldn't make me cry if they weren't so damn good, and if I didn't care about their characters.

Mar 22, 2004 @ 1:27 pm
Newborns always have blue eyes, I think. They "develop" quite some time later into whatever color they're going to be - it can be months.

Thanks, Toomanyblondes. That's interesting. I had no idea, but then I generally avoid babies and zone out during baby talk! Hee.
kariyaki
Mar 22, 2004 @ 1:41 pm
Yeah, grey or blue is the color of most newborns' eyes for the first day or so. Their real eye color develops soon enough. And if that didn't happen, with Asscicle's blue eyes and an obvious blue recessive trait in Erica (because of Kendall's eye color), blue eyes for Mimo would definitely be believable.
What I can't understand is the OLTL backlash--most of them don't watch AMC and never have, and because they don't know Bianca or Babe at all, overall the story should be less upsetting.
I don't know, maybe the OLTLers are so upset because the crossover only involves their reprehensible characters. They have no one to root for in this scenario. On our side, we have Kendall and Bianca heavily affected which really hits close to home for us. For them, it's the scuzzy Paul and Kelly (recent recasts to boot), not to mention that only Boobe factors in on their side. Not a plus, since she's only been likeable around Bianca.
The Kinks lovechild and their parents won't be crossing shows--that we know of.
Black Knight
Mar 22, 2004 @ 1:48 pm
Oh, Michael had blue eyes? Why was I thinking he had brown? I'm horrible at these details, obviously.
With Olga crossing over to OLTL, I think at some point down the road Eden will cross over as well. Not so sure about Alicia, but I certainly hope she does, and it's certainly plausible enough that Bianca would take Kendall along with her, them being inseparable and this being their lovechild and all. This SL is apparently going to go on for awhile, so ABC isn't going to announce all the crossovers at once.

On the topic babies eye color. It could take several months for them to change. My nephew is 10 months old and the little guy has beautiful greyish green eyes. Both his parents have brown eyes so who knows when his eyes will change. Or will they? Maybe my sister has a deep dark secrect. Hmm...

Mar 22, 2004 @ 2:07 pm
I'll de-lurke from the OLTL side to attempt to answer why I dislike this story so much, but admitedly will watch on OL. I occasionally (very occassionally) tune into AMC so I know the characters. I don't have anything against the concept of a cross-over, in fact if done correctly, it might have made me tune into AMC more if the time could be found. This concept ultimately will not achieve that result. I don't care about Paul and to the extent I did I enjoyed the old Paul more than NuPaul. I've loved Kelly for years, but her conscious and knowing theft of another's child is an obstacle that I don't think I'll easily overcome, not to mention the implied damage that she'll do to cover up her crime. I can't stand Todd so his involvement in this mess is just one more reason to tune out. I loved the concept of Kekekid and that is the one child they've killed. So basically I have nothing to invest in or root for. The couple I do care about is trashed and ultimately left childless and I have yet another dead baby to deal with. I get to watch wonderful bonding scenes with a baby that I know will ultimately have to be returned. If the IIC were smart they would realize that the only way to make this work from OL's side is for Kekekid to have lived.

A few favorite moments from today's episode:
1. Babe's line "Damn circuits!". Cracked me up.
2. After JR came out of Babe's car and walked back to Ryan, he SO wanted Ryan to give him a big gay manly hug. Just that little look he gave him. Hee!
3. Kendall: "I want my sister! I want my sister!"
Not so favorite moments:
Well, of COURSE Babe tripped over the phone wire and ripped it right out beyond repair. Ugh. So lame.
Also lame - Jamie and Paul in the hospital arguing about the helicopter. And Babe being in David's cabin but then leaving.
All this "so close" shit so they can draw out the "drama" bugs my ass.
I think Boyd and Aiden need to bring me a few more rounds of drinks so I can medicate myself to keep watching. Maybe they could do a little floor show for me too. Some naked boy wrestling to distract me from this stupid storyline.

Naggie can't even cry or make me believe she's sad.
Kendall can go at Erica as often as she likes and i'll be a happy camper.
NuPaul gives me the creeps. The guy is so mean.
How powerfull to hear Kendall plead: "I want my sister, i want to see my sister."
Reggie my man, you can do no wrong...his little words of wisdom to Erica were right on.
Frankenbrow and Jr should be a couple. They were kind of cute standing one in front of the other with the pink fuzzy dices...
Alexa did a very good job today. Babe was scared and concerned but always in control.
Ok now, Babe knows she delivered a boy, so the knowledge is planted in her mind. Me think that Baby switch won't take years to solve. Even if he druged her and she slides into a coma for a while, somewhere along the way she's going to have flashbacks.

Loving the Rebecca Budig WE Network show ad "Full Frontal Fashion" right on the TWoP pages! Pretty little pinger. I wish she played Bianca.
I clicked the link and it takes you to WE where I found:
http://www.we.tv/article?CID=key%3D458%26tzOffset%3D0I am going to watch and see if it sucks like Hoover. Love the title ... too bad about the "Fashion" part.

If anyone can tolerate another eye color post - my son's (9 mos.) doctor said that 99.9% of babies' eyes reach their permanent color by six months. I assumed my little guy's would be brown like my husband's, but when they never changed from the blue he first had, it was a nice surprise.
But, if Mimo's are that deeply blue, I'll bet they'll change over to brown. Just my opinion.

I don't usually think that babie's look like their parents for a while, but they did a good job matching Babe's babe to her - yes, yes, I know it's not really her child but I've suspended my disbelief just to watch this show.
Poor Bianca. I don't know if I have the strength to watch her heart break.

How cute was Mimo! She was just laying there watching Babe give birth.
Mimo: Oh my, is that what I looked like coming out of my momma? Ugh. Uh anyway, after y'all finish up over there can you come and check in on my momma, she's passed out.
Right on, Kendall! I'm so damn glad she let Erica have it. The differences in parenting between Krystal and Erica were huge. Krystal was going on and on about her precious Babe while Erica just sat there all stoic. Pathetic. And you can say whatever you want about Cornpone Krystal but she's got mad love for her Babe. Me like...me like a lot.
Jamie and his asinine idea of NuPaul taking he and Nagster up in the chopper. Jamie.Shut.Up. I'd only love the idea if the chopper went down with all 3 of them.

The Erica smackdown was delicious and spot-on, but I am sick and tired of Kendall angsting over Frankenbrow and Greenlee. Why, why, WHY? Kendall, look at Aidan!
A bit of a flat episode today, I think, but both Babe and Krystal were pretty damn good. Oh, how I hate saying that. Sniff.
J.R. and the fuzzy pink dice cracked me up.

I think the reason for the backlash from the OLTL side is that the Llanview characters are basically all the villains in this story and the AMC ones are the victims.
Kelly and Paul are taking babies from Babe and Biance. Kevin is the cheating, neglectful bastard who has driven his wife to be in such a desperate place. Todd's just a bastard... which I really don't mind, that's who he is after all but he needs another baby drama like he needs a hole in the head. Basically, everyone in Llanview is going to wind up reamed for this.
The AMCers will get their kids back... eventually and be vindicated because they were wronged.
And my show, with characters that I know and care about is basically a town full of baby-stealing reprobates who are only awaiting their just desserts when the TRUTH comes out.
I'd say that's why I resent the storyline.

I am so in love with baby Mimo! She's adorable!! Babe's little guy was cute, too. And they did a great job on Bianca's makeup. That (minus the pretty, I'm no ER) was exactly what I looked like for about a week or so after losing too much blood giving birth. She had the dark circles and all.
Tomorrow is going to suck, but you know I'm still watching. I've already stocked up on my tissues for the inevitable tear fest Bianca and Kendall are going to set off in my house.
Loved Kendall ripping into Erica today. And I actually liked Krystal bonding with Erica over their girls. Imagine how touching the JR/Tad scenes comparing this to Dixie could have been with someone else playing JR. I know Tad's all about helping JR (and Krystal) with this right now, but I hope we get some scene of him alone where the similarities really hit home. I need some serious scenes from Tad to counter the walking VD ad his life has become recently.
And, because it can never be said enough, I love Reggie! He loves Erica so much, but he had to let her know she was wrong, and MJ played that so well.

This kinda pertains to AMC, and I thought it was funny. Kevin is going to name Babe's baby Ace. Yes, you read that right. Ace. The hell? Kelly must be desperate for him to not wonder about the baby to let him name it that. And his other kid is named Duke (for short, but still) so he will have Ace and Duke? I know he didn't name Duke, the kids mother did, but I'm just sayin... Lets hope that Babe and JR get the kid back before he is old enough to know his name, I think Adam might be opposed to a grandchild named Ace.

For once I didn't mind that,
CKD, because it wasn't what Kendall was truly upset about. She was complaining about Gryan because she couldn't bear to let herself think about Bianca. When David called her off, and Kendall started torturing herself (and killing me) with her imaginary scenario of Bianca alone and scared, all I could think was that it would've been a lot kinder of David to have let Kendall go on ranting about Gryan. Poor Kendall. She is totally strung out from Bianca-withdrawal symptoms.
Some good Kinksy moments. Kendall's "I just want my sister! I just want to see my sister again!" Her mention that she had been with Bianca when Bianca bought that purse. Of course she was, them being inseparable and all. (Plus, imagining Kendall and Bianca on a shopping spree put a silly grin on my face.) And her "I love Bianca so much!" to David. When Erica opened up Bianca's wallet to find the photo of herself and Bianca on top, who else was wishing she'd flip through the photos so we could see the one Bianca must have of Kendall? (Guess Bianca's being
just discreet enough about Kinks' forbidden love that she knows not to put a photo of herself and Kendall on top first. Hee.)
Kendall's smackdown wasn't as long as I'd hoped it would be, but it was very well-done and Alicia and Susan both rocked. I liked how Erica couldn't manage to say a word, just really looked like she was shrinking more and more into herself with every barb Kendall threw at her. Though I hate Erica and she deserved every word Kendall said--except, in fairness, the "drove her out into a storm" bit because when Bianca and Babe left, there was no indication that a storm was coming--I have to admit that I gave Krystal points for being kind to her (there's justifiable cruelty, and then there's pointless cruelty). But I loved Reggie. MBJ just rocked when Reggie so quietly and sadly asked Erica why she couldn't have just let Bianca alone. Erica earned a "Shut up" from me immediately afterwards when she told Reggie to bring "her baby" home.
Paul's a snake in the grass. Babe was being so sweet and grateful, and Paul was seeming so happy and nice and sorta basking in the glow of a baby being born. Then he steps outside and his whole demeanor changes completely. He's being completely calculating and hateful. It's not just that he was being two-faced with Babe while planning to steal her baby, but it's also that he knows what bad shape Bianca is in.
Girl should be dead already--delaying getting her to a hospital so he can stage a helicopter crash first really isn't going to help matters.Babe ripping the phone out was contrived, of course, but at least it also seemed like a very Babe thing to do.
JR is sooooooooo gay. I was completely cracking up when he was all backed up against Ryan. And then he turns around and shoots Ryan a teary look. Gay, gay, gay. I will admit, though, that while JY is a horrible actor, at least he is actually capable of making his eyes water, unlike Susan. I really don't understand why Susan doesn't use the tricks of glycerin and so on, unless it's that she refuses to admit to herself that she cannot cry, or even well up, on cue. (It would explain why she keeps making such bad episode submissions year after year for her Emmy reel...) But it's beyond ridiculous in a plot where she thinks her pregnant daughter might be dead, and even more glaring when she's surrounded by actors who can cry or at least get watery eyes.
No wonder no one's found Bianca and Babe yet. Why are JR, Ryan and Tad all hanging around the one place that they know for a fact Bianca and Babe aren't? They know the car was swept away by a flood. Go look elsewhere, you idiots! I died of laughing when JR was searching the car like Babe might be in there. And now they're all heading up to the falls, brilliant searchers that they are.
What Greenlee did with Jack, telling him about falling into the mineshaft, was very tricky. Her heart was in the right place, and I understood what she was trying to do, and luckily for her, Jack seemed to take it the right way and responded well. But it is by no means a comfort tactic that she should try with most other people--in particular, Kendall, who is utterly fed up with Greenlee's history of "me me me" and would not see this as anything else, especially when she is out of her mind with worry over Bianca. Kendall's well of understanding is dry right now. (And yet it appears Greenlee may try exactly that tomorrow. Oh Greenlee. You'll be lucky if Kendall doesn't shove you right back down the mineshaft.) And there was an element of "me me me" about it--it's not that Greenlee was trying to draw attention to herself, but she has very little empathy, so she has to draw on her own personal experiences to be able to connect with others. Very Greenlee.
