Oh, kariyaki, I have to quote this from your recap (it was all hilarious as usual, but naturally I loved this best)...

They further bond over this latest development and when I say bond, I mean BOND. Their forbidden love couldn’t have been more obvious if they’d had sex right there on that love seat. Well, it probably could’ve. But damn, that was hot. I mean, wrong. I mean, hot.

That pretty much sums it up. It's oh so very wrong, but oh so very hot. Hee! No wonder so many are on the KinkSled.

Oh, and for non-OLTL watchers, so they can keep up: Yesterday, Kelly and Paul made a deal. She specifically asked him to steal a baby out of the hospital where he works. And then she sold her own aunt up the river to boot, essentially offering Paul $30 million if he will steal the baby for her. Fuckers, both of them.

Bwa! I can't wait to get home so I can go spy on the Kinks war again. Sadly, a screen full of dancing bananas and whatnot doesn't exactly fly when you're supposed to be, y'know, working. Why do I need a job again?

I also have Sisplendor in the Grass to look forward to when I get home. And Greenlee/Bobby! Which reminds me, their brief little scene at the end of yesterday (Wednesday)'s episode? Hilarious. I loved that Erica, smooth criminal that she is, seemed to think that quickly turning around and tugging down her baseball cap would somehow erase the fact that Greenlee and Ryan had already seen her. The little bro and I felt the need to replay that a couple of times to laugh at the absurdity of it.

Speaking of which, should I be disturbed that my 14-year-old brother has not only been sucked into AMC, but willingly so? Not that I'm complaining -- this show is far more enjoyable when there's somebody else to yell things at the screen with -- but, dude. Last I checked, soap operas and teen boys generally don't tend to mix. Hmm. But he gets all kinds of points from me for singling Greenlee out as his favorite, and he rips on Ryan, which never fails to warm my heart. Die, Ryan, die!

Oh, and guys? Your faux signatures are cracking me up. Kinks is love, indeed. Hee.

Just got back from catching up on all the fun over at Eden's board. Wow, I thought it would be bad, but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. Those humorless people really are getting all huffy over Kinks. They are SO earnest and SO serious in their objections! It's just too easy to get them riled up! I'm sitting back and giggling my ass off at how you all are toying with them. Especially the bammers. Now there are some very delusional perspectives there.

I would like to encourage all the hardcore Liancalites and Bammers to welcome the flexibility of Kinks. Lianca and BAM are roads to bitterness and disillusionment, because obviously AMC has chickened out on the big gay Lianca love story, and has lamed out on the Lianca/BAM triangle. But Kinks? It's just all there. Text and subtext. Yeah, this Sled is very comfy. I just got myself another gin & tonic, and I'm settled in to enjoy the rest of the ride. Ahhhhhh......

mirashima, I had the same experience with my brother. I see it happen a lot with guys, actually--they at first mock the soaps (yet somehow seem to know all the characters' names and plotlines), and then they give up the pretense altogether. The soaps are full of beautiful people, so there's an obvious shallow appeal to teen boys on that basis alone.

kariyaki, all your rewriting was definitely worth it. Because that? Is gold. I snicker every time I reread it.

In some ways I'm digging the thought of Kendall being so worried about her girlfister. Certain scenes will break our hearts, but I'm trying to think of the more positive scenes here--scenes like when Bianca is found alive, for instance. And who knows, maybe Kendall's fear for Bianca will help ease the pain of thinking Miranda's dead a little. I mean, she'll have been faced for hours with the serious possibility of losing both of them. And as devastated as she'll be over losing Mimo? Well, losing Bianca would kill her. No comparison. Bianca's the person she loves most in all the world, the only one she trusts absolutely. She's never had that before. So what I'm saying is, in the middle of all the grief and heartbreak, we ought to get a really fantastic scene when Kendall sees Bianca for the first time after the rescue. One that leaves absolutely, positively no doubt that they are doing it. Heh. Kendall's going to throw her arms around Bianca and never let go. *swoon*

Well, today's show only had one purpose and that's to set up next week's
traumas. Hmm... McT has a plan, who knew?

Aidan was adorable, not that it really makes any sense that he's hanging around his ex-fiancées husband, but whatever. I'll overlook it because he's a pretty, pretty man. Maria? I'm not liking her so much right now but she and Anita do the sister thang well (and I'm glad there's no SisYay there.) Ah, McT had Maurmund gloriously reunited in their wuuuuuuuuuv at the end! How romantic! I'm sure this doesn't in any way suggest that something will go horribly wrong for them very soon.

JR/Binks: I really don't know how I feel about their scenes today. It was out of the freakin' blue, that's for sure. I was glad to hear that JR is aware of how much of a putz he is, just like he criticizes his father for being. Good to know. Not so pleasant to know, is that Bianca is still hyper-aware that she's a big ol' disappointment to Mama Kane. I mean, we knew that but I think McT was clubbing us with that message so we'll be sure to understand just how painful it will be to Binks, when her mother tears into her Monday. Swell!

Erica: Aw, McT had Erica swoop in and save Jack! That way, when Erica is so fucking psychotic and evil that she drives her pregnant daughter out into a thunderstorm, we can just look back to today and know that Erica's not all bad! See? McT has a plan! (weeps) I'm so bitter right now. Why couldn't they leave Mimo alone? How am I gonna get through Kinks in pain? I. Want. Erica. Dead. Grrr...

Well, the writers couldn't have set up the Bianca/JR conversation any worse--all of a sudden he's upset at her about a conversation she had with Babe months ago?--and certainly could've found a better way to introduce the topic really at hand, but that said, I liked their scenes once JR calmed down. Gee, what a surprise, JY does better around Eden and has chemistry with her. AMC really does need to turn Bianca and Kendall into promiscuous bisexual incestuous sisters and have them hook up with everyone in town. Not only would it be the funniest thing ever, and kick the ratings sky-high, it'd allow AMC to take maximum advantage of the Alicia/Eden halo effect. Forget this stuff of the Sisters Kane each trying to settle on their One True Beard Love in between brainstorming sessions.

Stuart is so sweet, and dead-on in a lot of his wisdom (even if AMC does overdo the Wise Old Man thing), but as an Oracle of Fate, he totally sucks. Dude, just look at Bianca's life to date. Now DAYS's Celeste would be much more accurate.

I rolled my eyes at Erica's interviewer ambushing her. That would never happen because Erica's publicist would make it clear beforehand that certain topics are off-limits. Well, it's certainly going to contribute to her losing her tenuous grasp on self-control. And Bianca's obviously fraying at the edges too. Erica's tired of keeping her mouth shut about Bianca's baby; Bianca's tired of Erica being upset at her for choosing to have her baby. Bad combination. Monday's confrontation looks like it's going to be an ugly one.

Could AMC have made this day any sunnier? Oh, look, Storm of the Century coming!

I actually liked the Aidan/Edmund interaction, as bizarre as I find it that Aidan's suddenly glued at the hip to the Santos sisters. I don't for a minute believe Edmund and Maria's little reunion at the end signals smooth sailing ahead for them, but I did like that he stopped his pity party, and Anita's advice to Maria was actually pretty good--it was just phrased in really shallow terms, which annoyed me. That's okay, I still like Anita.

ETA: Erica Kane's Las Vegas act? It sounds hysterical, if Datalounge is correct, but...hmmm. If that's happening, Kinks must indeed go slam the fuck off on Erica's ass and drive her outta town.

I was confused at Anita telling Mauria that she needed to hot herself up. Was I the only one who thought Mauria looked better in lounge pants and a t-shirt? I'm so low maintenance.

I'm extremely low-maintenance myself, but I think Eva's edging past the stage where she can get away with it. I didn't think Maria looked bad in her t-shirt and lounge pants, but she did look better once she put a bit of work into her appearance. Plus, although it was poorly expressed in the shallowest of terms, I think Anita's spiel was more about Maria not taking on the role of a desexualized caretaker.

Oh, forgot to mention that I snickered when Jack was saying something about how the board should consider everything he's done over the years. What, did he mean his losing every case he's ever tried? They should've thrown him out on his ass for that alone.

Yep, once he settled down, I got what the writers were trying to do. But choosing JR bellowing at Bianca outta nowhere really wasn't the best road to take just to get them talking about their uber-powerful parents. That said, I'm always down for a little character exploration. It's cool to have JR vocalize that he's scared of being a daddy because he's afraid he's learned too many bad parenting skills from his dad. It humanized the little twerp a bit, if nothing else. Also, it was cool seeing JR and Binks remember they are friends. They do have a lot in common, in a way.

Monday's confrontation looks like it's going to be an ugly one.

You said it, man. Erica was spewing venom at Binks. Lucci continues to rock but Erica needs to be tossed into a wood-chipper. I wonder how Erica will feel about the last things she says to Bianca, before Binks goes missing, were absolutely horrible and self-absorbed? You think that will break through her fog? Ooh, I hope Kendall goes ballistic on Erica's ass. I still feel awful for poor Kendall having to worry about her GF and lovechild. That's gonna be heartbreaking, man. But, like you said, it's gonna be hella sweet when Kinks are reunited.

But choosing JR bellowing at Bianca outta nowhere really wasn't the best road to take just to get them talking about their uber-powerful parents. That said, I'm always down for a little character exploration. It's cool to have JR vocalize that he's scared of being a daddy because he's afraid he's learned too many bad parenting skills from his dad. It humanized the little twerp a bit, if nothing else.

Word. It would've been so much simpler to just have had JR be out of sorts because of some comment Adam had made at breakfast that morning or something. This was just bizarre. Hey, let's run it through the Pervy filter. He's really upset at Bianca because he noticed Babe being all over Binks yesterday, and it reminded him of the Bianca/Babe convo months before, and made him jealous and suspicious of what might be going on behind his back. Also, it was cool seeing JR and Binks remember they are friends. They do have a lot in common, in a way.

They're in the same generation and it does make sense to have them establish their friendship again. I also like it because between JR and Bianca's friendship, and Babe/Bianca's friendship, and the fact that Babe's going to see Bianca with Mimo right after Bianca gives birth to her, and therefore see that Erica's dire warnings at the shower aren't true, all means that it's a lot less likely that JR and Babe will try to hold onto Mimo. Whew.

I think that any regret Erica feels will be of the "shit, everyone's mad at me" variety last expressed by Greenlee after her courtroom stunt.

Absolutely. Which is why it's so ridiculous that AMC insists on making them interact with two people that a) are simply not trying b) have been horribly bungled. BAM and Kryan are horrible failures, but not because of Eden and Alicia. BAM was never hot, but they did use to have a certain sweet chaste chemistry; Kryan was hot back in the day, even though I've always despised Cam Math. But nowadays? Liz is bored, Cam Math has been watching too many tapes of Maurice Benard, and Naggie and Ryan are written unappealingly. Meanwhile right there on the side are the Perfect Significant Others Lena and Aidan, with whom they have all kinds of sizzling hot chemistry. There's only so much one can ask Alicia and Eden to do. As it is, they're forced to carry every scene they're in with the Guppy-Mouthed Fools.

On the bright side, between Kendall, Babe, and Lena the Nagster has now been completely shoved into a corner. Bianca talks to Kendall about everything, it makes sense that she'd talk with Babe about her pregnancy, Lena's got the love thang covered. Naggie is beyond redundant. McTrash put it as well as anyone (gasp) for once with her comments about how Bianca has enough on her plate and is in love with Lena besides. Of course she isn't looking to complicate her life even further by chasing Naggie around.

Dude, I am actually ashamed of my Kryan shipping past. My only excuse is that back then, Kendall had NO ONE that liked her except for Ryan. She needed someone. Now everything has changed. Kendall is practically the town hero. Even Opal likes her (and she really REALLY hated Kendall, especially the fact that Palmer was allowing her to be Petey's nanny). Kendall no longer needs to settle. She's grown a lot in the two years since she's been back in town and is too good for Ryan now.

Actually, he didn't. Ryan has never liked Kendall. Loved her, yes, in his shitty, rotten way. Liked her? No. And that was always my problem with Kryan, and why I was ripping my hair out when I realized that Alicia's wonderful Kendall was going to be stuck with Fucking Cam Math just because he was the town stud and it was basically a requirement that every woman sleep with him. (That, by the way, is the only reason I'm glad Bianca's not bisexual. Because if she were, AMC would totally hook up Bianca/Ryan--you can tell just from the scenes they've had in the last few months that the writers would love to but don't dare--and have Bianca and Kendall fighting over that asshole Frankenbrow.) I hated how Kendall chased after him while he yelled at her constantly and treated her like dirt.

But as you say, she's in a completely different place in her life and can do so much better. The problem is, she hasn't yet realized that she is in a completely different place in her life. Thanks to helping Bianca out, the whole town is looking at her much more favorably...but she doesn't realize it (her conversation with David about how she's a pariah).

Okay, I agree with you on the Ryan's like vs. love feeling about Kendall. He was the only one who tolerated her presence. And he hooked up with her because he has this latent hero tendency of rescuing damsels in distress and trying to show them the error of their ways.

I really do wish Kendall would open her eyes and see herself the way Bianca and the bulk of the town now thinks of her: as worthy of existence. Kendall's whole problem is the stigma that Erica's beaten into her head that she shouldn't even be here.

Now she doesn't even have any romantic prospects (MALE ones, anyway). Boyd's gone, Aidan's sniffing around Anita, even if Ryan were around I wouldn't consider him a viable option so he's out too. I won't get kicked off the party boat for suggesting JR, will I? I've always wanted them (excluding the Shaggy actor one) ever since she first made out with him in the park and then later in her apartment, getting caught by Petey.

Bianca, and her baby, will go a long way towards helping, but it is going to take time. Kendall's insecurities are too deep-rooted and long-standing. Heck, she's still having some trouble with the idea of Bianca wanting her around even when she doesn't need Kendall. Mimo's "death" ain't gonna expedite matters. Kendall's probably going to view it as some sort of confirmation that she shouldn't be here either. Bianca's making a real effort to try to get Kendall to start approaching life more constructively--though I wish AMC would have her stop with the Ryan-fluffing already, and that he would just hurry up and sleep with Greenlee so that Bianca will turn on him--and I liked that aspect of their conversation yesterday, how she kept stopping Kendall from falling into some of Erica's bad patterns. But once again, Mimo's "death" is going to make Bianca a little too preoccupied to be working on Kendall's overall character development.

I guess it'll be interesting, in a sad, warped, twisted, painful way to see just how Mimo's "death" will mindfuck both Kendall and Bianca. In addition to the above-mentioned impact on Kendall, this should just about finish off any ability on Bianca's part to enjoy her happiness without always looking for the cloud of doom. It's not something she's ever been that strong on in the first place--see her comments to Lena their morning after, and that was before the formula-stealing, Voldemort, and the baby-swap. I can see it now, Kinks in couples therapy.

Noooooo!!! Damn McTrash and AMC to hell. To HELL, I say. And if this is true, the whole cryptic remark about how Tad would fall in love with someone that would surprise the audience is just pure BS. Of course, what else did I expect. McTrash wants the character SHE created to fall for the most popular actor, and to be on the front burner for ever and ever, and screw any history, or fan feeling, or logic, or anything. Damn her. Wow, I'm sorry. I don't know why I care so much, but my Timone obsession has probably been even greater than my Kinks love. I'm just devastated if this proves to be true. Hate!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the kind words to my post at Eden's site. I would've posted it here, but I thought it was pretty much common knowledge at this site. I felt I was speaking for all TWoPers. Well, in my own, random way. Kinks is love

I wanted to FF through this whole episode, just on principle, but I liked most, if not all, of the dynamics that I saw today. I dislike Edmund, but loved his scenes with Aiden. And the beer. Hee! I hate Maria, but really like Anita, and liked Anita telling Maria how she sucked. Erica was only watchable when she saved Jack, but fortunately, that was most of the episode. Ryan, as always, sucked, but Greenlee was too adorable in those scenes to ignore. I just LOVED her flirting with Dork guy. And finally, Bianca and Stuart completely outweighed the idiocy that is JR. So, instead of being a show that I FF from beginning to end, I ended up watching about 95% of it. I like the fact that the good actors outweigh the bad actors.

Oh, and for the record, Tad belongs with Simone. The end. End of story. Enough said. Man, it's going to suck being a shipper to a couple that has no chance in hell. It might make me realize what the BAMmers go though....oh, wait, sorry....I was out of my head for a moment there.

So I had to go over and read all the Kinks stuff on Eden's board. And damn if I just coudn't resist the impulse to read the BAM board. My eyes!! Are they watching the same AMC? I saw something about one of the episodes this week being all about Maggie, and I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what day I missed. But they take this all way too seriously. Do they think everyone over here is out macking on their sisters? Even if I had a sister, I wouldn't dream of turning Mr. KerleyQ in for her, but I still can enjoy the hell out of the Kinks. They're the best part of the show right now, hands down.

Erica may be a screeching harpie lately, but I did appreciate what I saw of her speech at Jack's hearing. It gave me some hope that, even though she's irritated with everyone for failing to make everything all about her, she can still see the big picture and realize that she loves these people. Now if only she'd start showing the same courtesy to her daughters. Not to mention the big old honkin' apology she owes David for her little outburst at the clinic. (And please tell me I didn't miss some part of her speech at the hearing in which she switched lanes and blasted Jack, or I'll have to take this all back.)

From waaay back: teenage boys and soaps. In high school, DOOL was huge among the guys, they've got an appreciation of the pretty and the histrionics on soaps just like us. Plus, it's fun to watch in groups and you get a daily hourlong dose of (mostly) good hair, makeup, and wardrobe...it doesn't take a genius :)

ITA the SL is going too fast, I'm so not ready for the crushing blows and gut-wrenching acting from Eden and Alicia. But on a positive note, maybe this will resolve itself at light speed too. (lalalala..) [/denial]
