Sigh........you're right. I'm just enjoying attacking Erica's anger cover story too. Heh, I'm mad.
I understand completely. And usually hypocrisy sends me 'round the bend, but I guess in this case, because it's mostly fake, it doesn't bug me as much.
I figured they were off christening Binky's new crib but I didn't know they'd go through the trouble of christening every. single. room. Hee! *Ahem*
I doubt they see it as "trouble." ;-) And given how long they've been gone, they must be christening each room twice.
ETA: Spoilers...by way of MediaDomain...me in italics.
Week of March 15:
Erica stunned Bianca when she said that their nightmare won't end now that she (Bianca) decided to keep Michael's baby.
Later, after Bianca asked Babe to take her somewhere away from Erica, Erica accused Kendall of causing problems by influencing Bianca not to abort the baby.
Meanwhile, the raging storm forced Bianca and Babe to take shelter in a cabin, where Babe delivered Bianca's daughter, Miranda.
Looks like I was right about Erica going on a tirade that upsets Bianca enough she goes into early labor--asking Babe to take her away from her psycho mother is a pretty good indicator. Damn, no Kinks in the delivery room together. That sucks. Instead poor Kendall's finally getting yelled at by Erica--when Erica started in on David for "influencing" Bianca, I knew it had to just be a matter of time before she got around to Kendall for the same--while her girlfister's off giving birth to their lovechild. Hopefully Bianca at least gets to see her girl alive first.
Week of March 22:
Babe asks the wrong person for help.
Paul, obviously. Bianca must be in bad shape during/after the delivery, blood loss and whatnot, I'm guessing, so Babe asks medically-trained Paul to come up to the cabin for help. Then he drugs her and induces labor...

Why is Reggie cheating on Joni? Hmph.
Imagine me sulking right along with you.
I'm pulling up a chair on this one, too. For the entirety of those scenes, all my mind could process was "Not Joni...Not Joni....Not Joni..." I don't get it. He and Joni had chemistry out the wazoo, and they could both act. What was the point of getting rid of her? And then to bring on the daughter of a character that we rarely see (and lately only see when he's being a sanctimonious ass), and immediately decide they're going to be a couple is ridiculous. How sweet would the scenes of Joni supporting Reggie during the whole trial have been?

This is Erica at her absolute worst. The way she's reacting is purely selfish. As if Bianca's ordeal and pregnancy are a personal affront to her. She can't face the fact that Bianca is a better person than she is. Bianca loves her child in spite of what happened to her and Erica could never allow herself to unconditionally love Kendall. It's downright ghoulish.

Word, Freya. And you know what, the thing is, I actually don't think it's so horrible in itself that Erica can't love Kendall unconditionally, that if she'd had the opportunity way back when, she would have aborted Kendall. Having her rapist's baby is not something that most women could do. Where Erica goes horribly, horribly wrong is in: 1) the way she's been jerking Kendall around for years, promising love and then taking it away 2) making Bianca's decision a referendum on her own. It's not. Bianca is Bianca, Erica is Erica, and when one says "tomato" the other is likely to say "to-mah-to", so it's no surprise that what's right for Erica is not right for Bianca, and vice versa.
All that said, I think Erica's reaction is entirely in character for her, and generally being written very well. She has always made everything all about herself.
That wildfeed...EEEEEEEEEEEEE! The "Kendall shows Bianca a house" bit has me interested, even though Bianca tells her to get it for herself. It sounds like we're going to see a set for that. We haven't seen a set for the house Lena found Bianca, and we know Bianca hasn't moved in yet, and she's going into labor weeks earlier than her due date, so she probably still won't have by the time Miranda's born. And at that point, I firmly believe Kendall's gonna insist that Bianca move in with her. No way would she let her grieving girlfister live alone. Yeah, I'm not letting go of the idea of Kinks living together. I just know y'all are so surprised.
And needless to say, the thought of Kendall's head in Bianca's lap in the park just puts a smile on my face. It's so romantic. I've got images of rainbows and birds singing and all that shit. I'm swoooooooooning.

I'm still digesting the baby switch spoilers. Count me in as pissed that Kendall won't get to see Mimo born. Bastards. But from the spoilers from the fan visit to the set, Bianca and Mimo make it to the hospital so maybe we'll get our Kinks there? Crap, now I'm getting depressed again. That park bench isn't big enough for Kendall to lie down with her head in Bianca's lap, so I'm guessing they're on the grass. Siiiiiiiiigh.
Mystic0, I'm guessing that an unconscious Bianca and dead baby arrive at Pine Valley hospital, forcing Kendall to worry about her girlfister at the same time that she's grieving over "Miranda." Unfortunately. Then once Bianca is out of danger, and wants to know where the hell her baby is, Kendall will have to break the news to her. Sob!

Um, let's see--to prove I can talk about something other than Kinks for a damn second...someone at AMC totally reads this board. A little while ago I was complaining about how in dialogue, Bianca and Kendall are always referred to as Erica's "youngest" and "oldest", even though she only has two children. And yesterday? There's David referring to them correctly, as "younger" and "older." Shout-out!

Dudes, I keep forgetting to post about the little gem of a convo I had with my Grams. She weighed in on the Kinks wedding shower thusly:
Grams: You know, I really blew it with your Granddaddy.
Me: Huh? What did he do now?
Grams: Well, I just watched all that Kendall is willing to do for her pregnant girlfriend and I realize something...
Me (slightly fearfully): What?
Grams: All these years what I shoulda been doing is cruising the family reunions to pick up chicks! Hell's bells, your Granddaddy wouldn't have changed a diaper if he were bribed with three hookers and a quart of the good stuff...
That, ladies and gentlemen, fully explains why I can never, ever be normal and why I have no problem shipping sisters.

Thanks, randomperson. Jeez, still Bianca's hospital room--I'm really worried about her overall health now. (I was wondering, because I'm so morbid, whether McTrash really rubs salt in by having the doctors tell Bianca that she won't be able to have more children.) Hopefully it's just a loooooooong couple of showtime days.
I'm kinda interested in the constant mentions of the hospital sun porch, while no mentions of the hospital chapel, which is the more cliche place for these situations.

Today's AMC: Ryan is a monkey's ass, only less attractive. Erica would have been funnier with a trucker's cap on and then we could have pretended she was Ashton Kutcher, only not. Talking about Erica's problems with alcohol while downing a scotch (or whatever that was)? Priceless.

Black Knight,
I've taken it as a given, ever since I heard about Mimo's 'death', that the docs will tell Binks she can't have anymore kids. McT is not fucking around this time, she's gonna stick the knife in Bianca break that mofo off. I was thinking about it the other day and decided that there have been some subtle hints (possibly). Like when Bianca said that this might be her only shot at having kids and when she was fretting to Maria about if the damage she had done to her body during her anorexia-induced near death could affect the baby. I'm reaching, I realize, but I think McT is going for broke with the Binks torture, gloves off. The one question that kept popping up in my mind during her scenes was, "So when are Rizzo and the rest of the Pink Ladies showing up?" I got chiiiills, they're multiplyin'. . .
Bwah! I thought the same thing, man. Oh, and a hee! to your entire post.

Mar 10, 2004 @ 6:23 pm
You know, Mystic0, that's the problem with this brain-sharing. Sure, it's great when we agree on the same positive stuff, but it's depressing when we confirm each other's ideas about the morbid stuff. I thought about the same possible hints of foreshadowing that you did, and combined with what we know McTrash likes to do...sigh. I agree with everything you said. Are we sure that the set is Bianca's hospital room and not a room at Oak Haven? On the bright (ha) side, if Bianca is told she can't have more kids, that should make her inevitable bitch-slapping of her psycho mother even more vicious. Oh, Erica's so dead. Bianca already has enough for a smackdown with the whole "Erica wanting her kid dead" thing, but add in Erica precipitating Bianca's early labor and Bianca not being able to have more kids as a result? Erica, if I actually liked you, I'd say run.
Let's think about the wildfeed again, 'kay? Mmmmmmm...

In the spoiler section of SS: Report that SOW says McT is OUT!
From SOW re: McTavish
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing Change:
There will be a writing change at AMC by summer, I promise you that.
McTavish is not long for the world...and new EP Julie Carruthers is
looking at new writing teams as we speak. But, come late August, you
will NOT see McTavish's name in the credits. A new head writer will
have their material on the air by that point...
Everyone was surprised about McTavish coming back in the first place
right!? Well, with that actually happening...no one should be
surprised when everyone bids her adieu later this spring.
Frons re-hired McTavish because of her storyline projection that she
submitted, Bianca's rape. Well that storyline is done with and Julie
Carruthers wants to take the show elsewhere...so, yes, believe me,
there will be a writing change announced.
Actors on the bubble:
Juan Pablo -- OUT!
Mia -- Amelia Heinle's contract expires in June. AMC will not renew
it. There's no story for her!
Liza's story is about to heat up in a big way. She's not going
anywhere. Julie Carruthers loves her -- they worked together on Santa
Barbara.
Olga Sosnovska is leaving due to a mini series in London.

I don't think these are from SOW. They were posted by a so-called insider at coffeerooms and then somehow got attributed to SOW and passed to other boards. Sorry.
Black Knight
Mar 10, 2004 @ 9:25 pm
Yeah, the wording's all wrong for SOW. Definitely an internet gossipmonger, whether reliable or not. We all know about Soapboy's veracity (or lack thereof), but I have no idea about coffeerooms. I doubt it's true, though, much as I'd love to read that McTrash is gone. There are just too many things "off" about this particular report, especially the claim that this is occurring at Julie Carruthers's behest. The EPs of the ABC soaps, under Frons, have been totally de-emphasized. The headwriters are the top dogs at the shows, and after that the chain of command skips right up the ladder to the network level, where Frons and his minions interfere and micro-manage to varying degrees for each show.

Question for Sledders: If it means no Kinks... would you take this deal? McTavish and team kicked to the curb?
It depends. There are worse writers than McTrash out there. Yes, I could live without Kinks. But if you were to tell me that it was a choice between McTrash and Guza/Pratt (of GH), for instance, I would take McTrash every single time. Now if you were to tell me that it's a choice between McTrash and Agnes Nixon, then I'd take Nixon every single time. If it were some writer I'm not familiar with, then I'd have to ask to see their bible. In short, I can't give a definitive answer--it all depends on the replacement writing team. This is by no means the worst AMC has ever been, and I can't deny that, putting Kinks aside, I find that AMC is overall more watchable now than it was under the previous regime, or under several previous regimes (including McTrash's last stint). It's easy to see McTrash as the root of all evil--and she is evil, a cancer even, as
jase-bot calls her--but I really learned my lesson when I cheered her dismissal from GH, only to watch the current regime...well, there really aren't any words harsh enough for what Guza/Pratt have done to the show. Or I can look over at Days, which is almost as bad. I'll take McTrash over James E. Reilly (JERk, as we call him on the Days board), too.
The question of Kinks is kind of a non-issue, though. Yes, the Pervy aspect of it can be taken away (though Alicia and Eden would probably keep up the eye-shagging, heh), but regardless, Bianca and Kendall are sisters. I know the sister thing is the subtext these days, but it can become maintext again. They're Kane Women, it's an important relationship, it's not going away. As I've said, I've wanted Bianca and Kendall to form a sisterly relationship for years. I was thrilled when they were headed that way a couple of years ago. There was no subtext then, I had no idea that it would ever turn into this SisYayriffic relationship, but I loved them anyway. Now, I suppose that a new headwriter could not only get rid of the Kinks, but also never have Bianca and Kendall interact anymore, but you know what? That's definitely a headwriter I would not want to see at AMC, because it'd be really clear to me that he/she wouldn't be a headwriter that understands soap operas at all. Family is the heart of a soap opera. The Kanes are one of AMC's core families. Bianca and Kendall have probably the strongest, most unbreakable familial bond on the show. So a headwriter who would not have them interact and be involved in each other's lives is a headwriter who obviously doesn't get soap operas, families, characters, interaction, or continuity. It's been proven over and over on daytime--de-emphasize your traditional core families, and you've got crap. A soap writer who doesn't understand the importance of the families isn't going to understand anything important about anything else. (Note that this does not necessarily mean that a soap writer who does understand the importance of the families will understand anything else--McTrash certainly doesn't, she has a zillion writing crimes against her--but it's a useful way to quickly identify some of the hopeless writers. I've never seen a writing team that was bad at families write a decent soap opera.)
On to today's show. I like Reggie. I like Danielle. I liked that she noticed his hotness immediately, and I liked the "shared experiences" camaraderie that they were able to convey without having to exchange a lot of anvilly dialogue
talking about how they have shared experiences. It was just there, an understanding between them. That's nice, and props to MBJ and the actress. However, I regret to say I don't see any chemistry between them. I can buy them as friends, and I think they'd be cool as friends, but romance? Right now, not feeling it.
It was really cool seeing Tom again. Like Tonya Pinkins, he just slipped right back into the character like he'd never left. I liked his low-key scenes with Jack. Yay, Tom!
There seemed to be a spark between Bobby and Greenlee for the two seconds they looked at each other today, though that may be partly wishful thinking on my part because I really want Greenlee away from Ryan. Tomorrow will give me a better idea. The problem though is, if Greenlee's away from Ryan, then does Kendall get stuck with him? Because if I have to watch one of those two being sacrificed on Cam Math's altar, well, as much as I love Rebecca/Greenlee, Alicia/Kendall is more important to me. Damn.
And, while I do think Aidan and Anita have chemistry (though I haven't given up on Kaidan), I realized today I'm
really tired of him interacting with women who are emotionally tied up with other people. It's no wonder he hooked up with Mia for a little while, because in this one way, he's rather a male Mia. Hasn't he gotten burned enough times already that he should know by now to stay away?

Ripley, CK, and BK:
Sorry this is rather late, but I don't get "on" til late in the evening.
But, YES, YES, I get all the rationale for the Kinks closeness, but it still doesn't compensate me for the exclusion of Lena. And WTH isn't Bianca ready by NOW to have a complete relationship with Lena?
Many posters, especially on the SS, have started lobbying TPTB at AMC to at least write a meaningful, loving exit for Lena. Which reminds me, someone on the SS said she wondered if the writers even realize that Binks has never actually said the words "I love you" to Lena! I wonder, too, about the mindless, gutless wonders.

MysticO, I also want to chime in with love for your grandma. I spit my precious alcoholic bevarage all over my computer, and I don't care.
Wheeeee!!! Only 9 more hours till the Kinks! That wildfeed stuff is insane. The sled will be overflowing tomorrow. I think it'll be a wild ride because the sled will probably make frequent stops to pick up new Kinks minions. "Dark Father, I have seen the light!"
Also, I haven't been watching the Ryan/Greenlee crapfest, so does Jack know that Greenlee has tumbled into a mineshaft and that she's now okay?

I think being eight months pregnant, while her sister was facing a murder conviction for months, has a lot to do with it--it takes long enough to recover from a rape without having all of that added in too. Bianca didn't tell Lena about the baby until Thanksgiving, which was a very necessary step for her to take before she could start dating Lena again, and that happened to be the day Kendall was arrested for murder.
It would have been easier if Bianca and Lena had had a real established relationship prior to the rape, but they didn't. Their longest stretch of "together as a couple" was less than 72 hours. With most couples that have to deal with a rape affecting one of them, it's a question of getting back to where they were before, and having a long-standing pre-existing relationship helps (not to mention much more comfortable, established familiarity with each other sexually--whereas with Lianca they spent at most two nights together). With Lianca, there's been the added burden of having to build the relationship almost completely from the ground up. They've been working on it, but almost entirely offscreen. That's the real problem, not Lianca's pace, which has been entirely sane and sensible for the difficult situation they find themselves in. So the writers suck, but we knew that. If we can go by Olga's post--and granted, she's phrased a few things weirdly lately--Lianca's going well. I'm not sure I understand how, exactly, unless they officially reunite right before Bianca goes off to disaster, and then a lot of Lianca comforting afterwards follows, but I guess we'll see.
txm79, Ryan let Jack know Greenlee was okay. I don't think he mentioned the mineshaft part, though.

Delurking to add ( and Hope I got this right) :

I love you. I was just thinking that it'd been a while since I'd gotten a Kenlee fix, so that will
definitely do for the time being. Thank you!
mirashima - bless your Kinks-loving heart for that. I will order an extra round of drinks on the Sled for you! I was able to get that missing clip from a friend, but thank you SO MUCH for your offer.
You're more than welcome. Any Kinks fan is as good as a friend of mine, and friends don't let friends miss out on pervy Kinks goodness! I'm glad you were able to catch it.
I'm tentatively a Greens/Bobby shipper for purely shallow reasons. Like 1) They both have cute dimples! 2) Bobby doesn't tower over Greens. 3) They are both pretty. 4) It gets Greens away from Ryan. Yep, shallow!
I'm so with you on all four of your deliciously shallow points. Bring on the pretty! And, uh, kill Ryan. Pretty please? Kendall doesn't deserve to be stuck with him either.
I found something cute at that site that
PleasTuchMeseum linked. I didn't want to hotlink, so I uploaded it at PhotoBucket, so just to point out -- I am not trying to take credit for it or anything, I swear! It came from the above-quoted link, mmmkay?
Anyway, yeah,
here it is. Criminally adorable, they are. Now they just need to get Eden to do a tell-all on
her nickname, because we know she has one, and "Harvard" ain't it.

Step away from the worry stone, Tad! STEP AWAY FROM THE WORRY STONE!
I love that Adam was subjected to Liza's booty call. Heh.
Yay Tom Cudahy!
Reggie's new love interest: verdict is still out. I was too distracted by all her skin showing when there was fake snow on the ground.

Word to everything you said BK. That's why I have a little bit of an issue with Lianca fans having an issue with the Kinks relationship, at least in its nonpervy form. Kendall is the most important person in Bianca's life right now, and rightfully so. Plus, even though Lianca fans don't want to hear this, the relationship between Kendall and Bianca is far more important to the future of AMC than either Kendall or Binks' relationship with any love interest. The nature of soaps is that love interests are a dime a dozen. The family relationships are what soaps revolve around.
By the way, for the benefit of those of us who are stuck at work reading PBP of today's episode, could some of you maybe give us a few more details of the Kinks scenes than we usually might get? Please.
