Word. Bianca only went along in the first place because she was still in some shock, and once her brain started functioning again, well, that was that. Jack was being completely fairytale in his assessment and I'm sure she could tell. Tad had established an airtight alibi for Erica, so her confession no longer helps Kendall's case, and Kendall would have been tried again, with a weaker defense and proof of her lies from the first trial. And statistically, the prosecution's odds of winning are vastly increased with a second trial. Bianca wasn't going to take the chance or put her girlfister through any more.

One part of the ep that cracked me up was when the Kane-Montgomerys are first talking in the briefing room about Bianca being guilty, and then Tad sticks his head in and everyone shuts up. Jack gets rid of him and the family immediately huddles again to decide on strategy. Classic. I loved when Bianca asked Erica for her opinion and Erica paused briefly before saying, "Listen to your sister." It's interesting on a couple of levels because, 1) Erica would never have dreamed that she'd ever advise that Bianca listen to Kendall, and 2) it's an interesting subtle acknowledgment on Erica's part that Kendall's opinion carries more weight with Bianca, that the Kendall/Bianca bond is stronger, and it had to be a bit of a bitter pill for her to swallow. Erica wanted to be the one who killed Michael, the one who saved her daughters, and she also assumed that her daughters were trying to save her. She couldn't do the first two things, and she turned out to be largely incidental in regards to the third. For Erica, that's an adjustment.

Reggie needs to wear shirts like that more often. Nothing wrong with robbing the cradle...I did so enjoy Reggie, Bianca, and Kendall nearly having a group hug and standing by each other lined up in a row like cute little sibling ducks. I adore that crazy family.

When I was rewinding the tape to watch, I hit play right as Bianca was apparently kneeling down. I was like, "Whoa!" Then I realized it was the couch when I watched all the way through.

Susan Lucci is doing really well with this stuff. I thought it was funny when Kendall and Bianca were holding hands, and Erica was watching and the camera focused on the hands and then showed Erica's face. I know it was a "Look at how my daughters have bonded" moment. (No, not that way) but of course I thought of it as Erica seeing and realizing the incestuous love. How I love this show and my sick mind.

What I would have liked to see in the flashback is Kendall running out and seeing that Bianca had just killed Michael. That would've been cool. But who knows, maybe we'll see it eventually.

I wanted to see Kendall's face as she recounted the incident to Bianca and Erica and am happy they didn't do a voiceover scene. I also want to see the flashback of Kendall's initial reaction to Bianca killing Michael but I'm glad they didn't do it today.

Word! I forgot to mention that earlier, but once I realized she wasn't really Greenlee, and I didn't have a clue who she was, I thought maybe Greenlee had a long lost twin sister, and she was going to be the one to find and rescue Greens from the shaft... in more ways than one. Then they could live next door to Kinks and...

[OT]I don't recognise Anita from Saved by the Bell, but that reminded me. Simone was on an episode of Boy Meets World. She played a smart, pretty girl who tried to get into Eric's pants when she was supposed to be tutoring him. She also gave him the test answers and told him he wasn't smart enough to learn it on his own. She encouraged him to use his good looks to help him get by in life. The moral message came when Feeny chided her for writing Eric off as being "just a cute boy" when she'd worked her whole life to get away from being "just a cute airhead". She looked sufficiently chastized at the end.

Yup, there's no reason we can't have both, and I'm very hopeful that we'll get both, kariyaki. But AMC's decision to only show Kendall's face as she recounted the incident yesterday reminded me of Jonathan Demme talking about how he directed The Silence of the Lambs. The original script had called for flashbacks to be seen during the big Clarice/Hannibal sequence in which she tells him about the lambs screaming, showing Young Clarice running around with the one lamb in her arms and all. And Demme called the script writer, Ted Tally, after shooting the scene with Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins and told him that it had been so powerful that if he'd cut away from that scene to show flashbacks, he would've had to turn in his card as a member of the directors' guild. In short, sometimes you just don't cut away from actors to do flashbacks.

That's what got me about the big Kendall-confesses scene yesterday, and why I rewatched it like five times in a row at home. I really wasn't paying much attention to the dialogue at all, which was mostly exposition and had no surprises. It was all about the emotions for me. Kendall's heartbreak at having to tell Bianca she did kill Michael. Bianca's numb self-loathing for having blocked out the event and devastation at the hell Kendall went through. Erica's despair. Though of course, dialogue-wise there was definitely some good stuff, from Kendall's "I love you and I think I would've killed for you" (thinks? well, she probably didn't want to upset Bianca even more) to Bianca's repeated "please forgive me"s to Kendall's final tearful vow that she wouldn't let Bianca be hurt. The three actresses kicked that scene outta the park. Awwww.

I'm looking forward to the courtroom theatrics today. I noticed that, Kane-Montgomerys aside, the only one who seemed to notice something was up with Bianca running to the judge was Myrtle. She jumped up and looked concerned--it'd be interesting if she had guessed the truth all along. I also thought Livia didn't look too surprised--she looked surprised that Bianca was confessing now, but not all that surprised that Binks was the killer. Especially since Kendall probably refused to let Livia put Binks on the stand.

I had to laugh about the whole mistrial thing because actually, from Kendall's POV, it would have been better for her if the judge hadn't declared a mistrial. As the case stood, the jury would've returned an acquittal within five minutes and then she would've been safe forever, thanks to double jeopardy. Good one Jack, always dispensing that helpful legal advice...no wonder Bianca knew not to listen to you.

The direction was a little funky today. Bianca turns around to face the peanut gallery, the camera moves over a little bit, and you can see Palmer and a few others shuffle over to stay in its line.

Then there were the reaction shots as Bianca went through her monologue. I was screaming at a few of them: "Aaah! Get Mia off my screen!" Ditto, Naggie. There are some people I can't abide looking at because of their incredibly selfish behavior in this whole mess.

"Do you want to have a drink?" Is Naggie now trying to date Lena?

I can't believe Exeter and Tarzan were at first pushing for Murder One charges against Bianca. Are they insane? Do they really think they could attempt to prosecute the pregnant rape victim and still have jobs afterwards? Actually, they'll be lucky to keep their jobs as-is with the way the investigation was run. Exeter was only just appointed to it, so he may get off light but Tarzan did a piss-poor job. And since Dax Griffin has been let go, I'll be looking forward to the "you're fired" scene Tarzan is sure to get.

At any rate, Hannah earns my love once more for believing in Bianca and offering to "share her opinion" with the poor unfortunate judge that would draw that case. Go Hannah!

Also - I thought that Bianca found out that she was pregnant after Michael had disappeared. What was up with her telling Michael about the baby?

I realize that this ep (the trial portion anyway) was brought to us by the makers of sap, but I still liked it in all its sappy glory. I adored the Lianca schmoop. I was 'awwwwing' at Lena's teary eyed shots. She's so domesticated and sweet. All of her heartfelt fretting just made me want to hug her. Love ya, girlfriend. Dug the Kinks/Reggie scenes. They're my favorite TV siblings ever. Kendall was the perfect GF once again (as was Lena). "She's not going anywhere without me!" Kendall you are so damn cute. Jackson is a sweetheart. I so want an Uncle Jack, don't care that he's kinda useless.

I may be a sap, but I loved seeing the whole town sitting there in the courtroom rooting for Bianca. It was sappy and cheesy, but it warmed my heart. I almost cried.

I laughed my ass off when Greenlee stepped into the falling rocks. Because that's the best way to go in that situation. Although I am glad, actually, that they chose now for her to be stuck in the mineshaft. I'd hate to have seen her running around trying to make Bianca's confession all about her.

The only court drama scene that I really liked today was the end when Reggie put his arms around Kinks. The three of them...I tell you, I don't know what it is, but scenes with those three being all love-y and familial just get me crying. I'm such a baby sometimes.

I like and believe Erica's non-reactions right now, but I bet I won't like the inevitable breakdown that is sure to follow. Maybe I will, though, if Bianca and Kendall are the ones she does it with. Since I can practically taste it already, it just feels so...regurgitated, like we've been through this a thousand other times with Erica.

Whatever. Boring episode for the most part. And it caused me to flip channels and I caught site of the creepiest twins in the world on B&B. *shudder* So I'm mad at this episode. Except for the sibling lovefest at the end.

Great reactions and scenework from Jack and Lena today too. That's so much harder than doing "the speech." they both looked so worried and fretful and then proud and still worried.

And Lena seemed to convey her total love for the reemergence of the (idealized)Bianca she fell for - The truthful and brave and courageous one.

Yeah, that's why I liked it too. It wrapped up the whole SL, finally, no secrets left. I liked that Bianca admitted all the ways in which she'd screwed up, took responsibility, apologized and determinedly did the right thing this time. I liked that Bianca very gently tried to tell Kendall that Kendall should never go to these dangerous extremes for anyone. Kendall won't listen, of course, and will adore Bianca more than ever, but at least Binks tried to explain the concept of boundaries. (Not the boundaries that rule out hot incestuous loving, though.) All of this could have been avoided if Kendall and Reggie had just told Bianca six months ago what she'd done, as much as I understand why they didn't and love them for it. Add me in to those who melted during the group sibling hug.

I was surprised at Singer's hard stance, but that meant plenty of amusing stuff with Livia telling him she'd bury him in post-trauma stress syndrome paperwork, and Kendall looking like she was about to jump out of her skin and go apeshit. The judge and Livia rocked. I wailed when Livia said goodbye and left the room after the judge did. Please, don't leave us, you two! I know we see Livia at least a couple of times more, but still. I'm desolate.

Erica--I'd tell her to shut up, except she actually didn't say much at all. So, instead, I just have to tell her to grow the fuck up and realize that there are more important things than the fact that she disapproves of her daughter's decision to have her rapist's baby. I'm not giving her points for speaking up in chambers and saying she'd confess because Tad had already given her an airtight alibi, so Erica's confession would've been worthless. It was a meaningless gesture. Jeez, what a cold, self-absorbed bitch. But it's okay because Kendall, Reggie and Jack made up for it.


As was I. And I also snickered at Kendall getting down on her knees before Bianca. Hmmm, maybe that's why Erica left, so she doesn't have to acknowledge the SisYay.

Naggie was just weird today. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be some sort of damage control now that she realized that Lena wasn't going to be sent to jail for murder after all. Heh. Loved her grumpy look when Lianca were hugging. Give it up, Nags. Your boob-shirt is not working.

I'm feeling more and more optimistic about Anita--the actress is still doing well with shitty material, is still likable, clicks well with her family, and is still cute. I snickered when Maria had Brooke hauled out by security--Maria's totally wrong, of course, but the look on Brooke's face was funny.

If Olga leaves (NOooooooooh!), then I'd be on board for a divorced NuNita/Bianca pairing. Bring on the pretty. But I wouldn't be watching with my current level of intensity. I am so Olga's bitch.

I liked that it got everything in the open and I like seeing everyone together, but then with the love saving us all stuff and Bianca walking all through the courtroom to her admirers, bleh. I loved the mini group hug of Kendall, Bianca, and Reggie. That was precious and made me smile at the TV, and I think the TV smiled back.

How long has Greenlee been in the mineshaft of delirium in Pine Valley days? It's like 2, right? It feels like it's been 3 months.

Yeah, this is Greenlee's second day in the mineshaft. Rebecca's probably very happy because it means she would've had a much easier work schedule than everyone else this month, for all that she's been on nearly every day. Courtroom/group scenes take a lot longer to tape.

Fat chance.

I love Clueless, so Rebecca's semi-channeling of Alicia Silverstone for Alternate Greenlee cracked me up. I did like what Alt. Greenlee had to say at the very end, though--I don't remember the words now, but the gist was basically that Greenlee needs to be nicer, but she shouldn't change everything about herself, either. More that she needs to let down a few of the walls and let other people see what's likable about her. So like Kendall's growth over the last six months, Greenlee can grow and still be Greenlee.

Let's face it, the mine has had enough of Greens. Her chucking a rock at it was the last straw. Fight back, mineshaft, you ain't gotta take that!



That was pretty groovy. All the Kinks stuff rocked. I liked the sorta silent communication thing Bianca did with Kendall, when they had that moment where Kendall nodded that it was ok for Binks to out little Kendall Jr. to the world. The fact that I was getting fed up with Bianca and that I actually liked the scenes with Michael just shows how much this show has screwed me up. Normally, I love Greenlee but her scenes bring me to snore (shout out to L Word forum). Olga usually lets her eyes do the bulk of the work and in an out-of-focus shot, that doesn't work as well, so she had to fall back on other techniques.

It's a sign of a good actor when they don't zone out while in the background. Courtroom eps, or other large group eps, make it pretty easy to spot those who do. AMC, to its credit, has a huge number of actors that stay in character whether the camera's focusing on them or not.

Thank goodness Walt toned down his head-nodding, too. He did start a little bit while standing next to Eden, but very tiny head nods, for once. I almost wonder if someone had talked to him in advance and specifically warned him not to do that. That speech was hard enough without someone nodding his head maniacally. Eden must've rolled her eyes when she got the script. She did have the hardest part in trying to make all that "walk all over the courtroom talking to people" shit work because it's a totally unnatural and unrealistic set-up. And Eden's all about the naturalism in her acting.

Word CK. It was cringe worthy.

I only watched the first half of today's show. So when Assicle and Bianca were interacting did he look bruised up? Did the incident with David actually happen? Was that explained or ignored?



I agree. It seemed a bit forced to me. But I will re-watch again tonight and try not to make any harsh judgements.

Bianca said that Michael looked kind of shaken up or something when he answered the door. As far as we know the incident with David did happen--David did have that bruise, Erica did get Michael's gun and shoot Adam with it later, the timeline fits, and so on.


It's also forced in that it's out of character for Bianca. She's no longer as painfully shy as when she first arrived at sixteen a few years ago, but she still doesn't like public attention. Bottom line is, she'd never walk around making a long uninterrupted speech to various people, especially with some non-friendly faces in the room. Someone like Erica would do that, but not Bianca.
