Here are AMC's Emmy submissions for the pre-nomination panel (thanks, Mystic0). My comments in italics:
OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
EPISODE # 8634
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JULY 8, 2003
Bianca comes home to Myrtle's in the middle of a black out; Erica is haunted by images of Richard Fields; Michael traps Bianca; Kendall comforts Erica; Michael rapes Bianca.
This is a "special" ep and that usually goes over well. The one weak point is Susan's scenery chewing in the first third.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
FINOLA HUGHES AS ANNA DEVANE
EPISODE # 8608
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JUNE 2, 2003
Anna and David's worlds collapse when Leora dies during surgery; Anna says goodbye to Leora.
Pretty good chance of a nomination for this.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
SUSAN LUCCI AS ERICA KANE
EPISODE # 8603
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: MAY 26, 2003
Erica is horrified when she is confronted by Michael in her office; Michael attempts to rape Erica; Kendall knocks Michael unconscious.
Poor choice by Susan here--she had better episodes. But then Susan has a long history of picking the wrong eps to submit.
OUSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
DAVID CANARY AS ADAM AND STUART CHANDLER
EPISODE #8733
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: NOVEMBER 25, 2003
Adam confronts Babe about her schemes; JR tells Stuart he is going to be a father; Stuart reassures JR and reminds him of Dixie; Adam and Mary spar.
Poor David--he didn't have too much last year to work with.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
VINCENT IRIZARRY AS DAVID HAYWARD
EPISODE # 8632
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JULY 4, 2003
Anna takes David away from the Martin Fourth of July celebration; Anna tries to convince David to drop his vendetta against Tad and Joe; David expresses his feelings about Leora's death.
Good chance of a nomination for this.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
WILLIAM deVRY AS MICHAEL CAMBIAS
EPISODE # 8634
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JULY 8, 2003
Michael traps Bianca during the black out; Michael tells Bianca his hatred of Erica, Kendall, Jack, Alexander, and Lena; Michael becomes angered with Bianca; Michael rapes Bianca.
Excellent pick--he was creepy and got to show a real range from "nice" to viciously enraged--I bet he gets a nom.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
CAMERON MATHISON AS RYAN LAVERY
EPISODE # 8694
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: OCTOBER 1, 2003
Ryan holds a press conference at the Valley Inn; Ryan re-introduces himself to friends and foes; Ryan informs everyone about Alexander's will; Ryan announces he has control of Cambias Industries.
Blech. If he gets a nomination, I'll scream.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
REBECCA BUDIG AS GREENLEE SMYTHE
EPISODE # 8652
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: AUGUST 1, 2003
Greenlee interrupts Jack and Erica's wedding; Greenlee announces she is Jack's daughter; Greenlee vandalizes Roger's grave.
Very good chance for Rebecca--she had what, two-thirds of the dialogue? And it was an entertaining ep.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
ALICIA MINSHEW AS KENDALL HART
EPISODE # 8687
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: SEPTEMBER 22, 2003
Kendall finds Bianca at the abortion clinic; Kendall expresses her feelings about her conception; Kendall tells Bianca she supports any decision she makes about her baby.
Probably the best choice Alicia could have made in terms of the work she did, but the other supporting actresses will be submitting eps in which they had much more airtime--see Rebecca's ep above, for instance. Supporting actress has largely turned into Best Actress II.
Black Knight
Feb 22, 2004 @ 6:28 pm
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
ALEXA HAVINS AS BABE CHANDLER
EPISODE # 8744
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: DECEMBER 12, 2003
Babe unknowingly falls into JR's trap; JR confronts Babe about her affair with Jamie.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
EDEN RIEGEL AS BIANCA MONTGOMERY
EPISODE # 8649
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JULY 29, 2003
Maggie questions Bianca; Bianca is haunted by her rape; Bianca tells Maggie that Michael raped her.
Like Alicia, the best choice Eden could've made. It'd be a huge upset if she doesn't make the final five.
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
MICHAEL B. JORDAN AS REGGIE MONTGOMERY
EPISODE # 8630
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: JULY 2, 2003
Reggie takes Jack's gun; Reggie heads to the Habitat site; Reggie holds Luis at gunpoint; Reggie and Jack bond.
I'm excited about this one--I think MBJ stands a good chance of a nomination. The Reggie/Jack stuff at the end made me tear up.
ALL MY CHILDREN * ABC
JACOB YOUNG AS ADAM CHANDLER, JR.
EPISODE #8733
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: NOVEMBER 25, 2003
JR tells Stuart he is going to be a father; Stuart reassures JR and reminds him of Dixie.

EPISODE # 8590
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: MAY 7, 2003
Erica visits Jack in the hospital; Mia, Edmund, and Maddie have lunch in the park; Maria and Aidan make love; Bianca and Lena have a romantic morning together; Michael threatens Lena; Bianca slaps Kendall; Lena steals from the Enchantment safe; Chris and Flanders fight; Maddie witnesses Chris's shooting; Flanders points his gun at Maddie.
Yeah, they picked this because of the outdoor remote, which was very well-done. There were also a couple of nice artsy shots of Lena and Bianca in the mirror and Lena stealing the formula out of the safe, which was intercut well with Kendall/Bianca. And a split-screen shot of Kendall and Bianca on the phone. On the downside, there's the freaking Maiden porn. Do they think they'll get credit for this?

Any one else find the Ryan/ Greenlee psychic connection a crock of shit? I mean the pairing of them is too offensive to my senses. ick!
As long as it takes him away from Kendall so she can come to her senses and move on to someone else (more Kinks and/or some handsome sexy man who can act), I'm fine with the pairing.

There's a trailer for
Mean Girls out. Now before, I was wanting to see this movie because of all the ex-AMCers in it (Amanda Seyfried [Joni], Jonathan Bennett [JR], Lacey Chabert [Bianca]) but after viewing it, I want to see it even more because it looks absolutely fucking hilarious. And it looks like Amanda has a really big part! Go her.
Here's the trailer but you need QuickTime to view it.

Well, will fan fic do? It's all
Mystic0's fault, really, but I actually sat down and tapped out a Kinks fan fic during some slow days at work and in between unpacking the zillion boxes from my move. (fervently hopes that employer doesn't have any of that spy software) Mostly in the hopes that it'll break the ice and convince one of the better fan fic writers out there to tackle Kinks. Heh. I'm not sure how I feel about posting it on Eden's board, nor do I have the time/energy right now to put it up on the web (besides, I'd be tempted to turn it into a full-fledged Kinks website, and I am going to draw a line

Since you blame me for everything anyway, Dark Father told me to tell you that he thinks a Kinks website is a *really* good idea. He'd prefer lots of nice screen caps and a complete pervy episode guide with commentary. He thinks it would be an effective recruitment tool. He promises that our compliance in this endeavor would secure us the most comfy sled Hell (He said to capitalize that, by the way. Hmph, how demanding!) has to offer. If that won't do it for you,
Black Knight, he promises to make sure that in the future all of Cam's scene directions will be sent to Eden instead. So she'll be taking her shirt off all the time for no good reason, while being really,

I'll think about it--but for the same reason as posting it on Eden's board, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. We're happy in our Pervy little thread and no one tells us we're going to hell (like we need to be told), but the greater internet world? Hrrrmmm.

red eyes, red nose, tears, chin quivers all on cue--shit. No wonder AMC always has Bianca so miserable. They aren't going to waste that kind of crying ability.
Someone from here must've been at Eden and Elizabeth's Brokerage event today, as someone asked Eden what her secret to the chin quiver was! Eden said that there's no secret, that's just how she cries. She gets upset and it just happens. That its always been like that ever since she was a little girl. :-) And that it must be "some kind of muscular thing". AND THEN she proceeded to DEMONSTRATE! :-D
She said she hopes that it's not annoying to people! As IF!

AND THEN she proceeded to DEMONSTRATE!
Hee. Show-off. (hand her the Emmy, quick!)
Mystic0's right, Mom of Eden needs to be pitied. If she can only get the chin quiver when she's upset, and if she can just turn on being upset, and therefore the chin quiver, for an impromptu demonstration--well, poor Mom of Eden just obviously had no chance against Eden while Eden was growing up.
I watched the OLTL teaser again tonight so I could drool over a certain shot in slo-mo one more time, and then I rewatched the end of Friday's ep. I'm still impressed by the close-up shot after Bianca sees herself in her flashback. Red eyes...the camera pulls out...a tear forms...the camera keeps pulling out..."No,"...the tear hangs as the camera keeps pulling out..."It wasn't you," as the tear falls. That was real. Damn. I don't quite know if the tear that was hanging in an earlier close-up was real or not, but I don't know why they would've bothered when Eden clearly doesn't need any help in generating a real tear on cue.

That was some bit of acting, Eden can cry with the best of 'em. Much better than Lucci's constant snot-sniffling and hair-flinging to distract us from the fact that there is NEVER ONE TEAR!
And not that I am the type to say told you so. . . but Ha! I knew it! Vindication is mine!

Now now, be fair. Susan managed real tears in her eyes for the first time in her, what, twenty-plus years on Friday...heh. It'll be interesting to see how she does today, since Bianca's confession is certainly potential grist for scenery-chewing, depending on how Erica is written.
I was reading the paper this morning and the Writers Guild winners were announced last night. For the daytime serial category, AMC and OLTL were the nominees (I guess they don't want to nominate more than two because there are so few soaps that more nominees would represent a significant percentage), and AMC won. The list of writers reads exactly the same as the list for the daytime Emmy prenom submission, so they must've submitted the July 8 ep. Shocker.

I finally got to watch Friday's episode last night, and agree with how great the Kane clan's performances were. They really made Liz's performance stick out, and not in a good way. Her inflection when she's reading her lines, and it is reading her lines, since I don't really consider most of her dialog to be "acting" drives me insane. I finally figured out who Liz reminds me of. Sarah Michelle Geller in the episode where she's playing the Buffybot. SMG was deliberately camping it up with the robotic sounding stilted delivery. Liz unintentionally sounds the same way.
Black Knight
Feb 23, 2004 @ 1:14 pm
I actually thought Liz was fine on Friday. It's not that she's performing, exactly, it's more that the bitchy jealousy thing they have her doing happens to match up well with the bitchface she always has going on these days. But then I'm biased because it also gives the HPF a chance to bare her claws and I love seeing that side of Lena. Like
SkiffyPup said, Lena's "What?!" was hot, as was when she threw down the CD (hey, be careful Lena, that's Bianca's very favorite CD ever...) and pointed her finger in Naggie's face. Heh.

Interesting, kariyaki--thanks for the info. I'd looked on the WGA site but came up empty. That was a great ep, but only because of the acting. As you pointed out in your recap, Alicia and Eden had to pull out their best turd-polishing skills to make that dialogue workable. But then, who knows what OLTL submitted as theirs.
I was just thinking last night how happy I am that the dialogue for Kinks has gotten so much better since then.

Those pics of Eden are all kinds of yummy. The woman is a stunner. I could'nt take my eyes off of her in the scenes today. But then again I can never take my eyes off of her. Like I stated before, I am so her bitch. On the subject of Michael's murder, I knew the minute that Megan Mc"Rape-her"Tavish said she knew from the start who the murderer was that Bianca had done it. The woman can't seem to help herself. She enjoys inflicting pain and misery on the character of Bianca. First she rapes her, then makes her pregnant from said rape, now murderer. Although I don't think it was murder, more like a mercy killing...she took us all out of our misery offing the bastard. To bad someone could'nt do the same with Ryan. Cam Math, I implore you, GET OFF MY SCREEN!

I'm glad you reminded me of that. I'd forgotten that episode was great (not only because it was the birth of Kinks) because of the ACTING not the writing. In that case, it was an odd choice. They were depending on the judges to not see through the actresses' great performances and realize that the dialogue was rather subpar. Kinda risky. Now I
really wonder what OLTL submitted.

I am such a geek. I let out the biggest "Whoo-hoo!" when the judge ruled for a mistrial.
Ditto, I was right there with ya in geekdom. I'm not too clear on where they are going with the legal stuff but I'm glad Kendall's off the hook. She cracked me up watching Binks at the end. She knew Binky was mulling something in her brain, just by looking at her. They were all dumbasses for thinking Bianca was gonna keep quiet. Binks letting her GF live under public suspicion even if Kendall's never tried again for offing Mikey? Please, not gonna happen. I liked that last shot at the end, Lampert looking all intimidating and formidable, while Bianca looked all doe-eyed, small, and terribly young. Hee, poor Hannah. She'll never escape the Kanes.
On a crabby note, the direction of this ep (or maybe it was the pacing) bugged the crap outta me. They hit the after-the-commercial reset button too many damn times. Particularly with the Reggie not confessing with Jackson stuff. I love them both but I'm tired of visiting that well. I do love Reggie's protective brother act and cooed at him when he hugged Binks.
I loved Opal/Palmer/Adam (even though Jill was having trouble with her line readings). David earned my never ending devotion for snarking on Ryan. Love you, David! The new Anita actress still seems competent, so I'm still not picking on her. Yet. The Greens stuff is starting to work my last nerve but Rebecca is still making the best of it she can. Greenlee's look of horror at Gidget!Greens was vaguely amusing. Edmund? Zzzzzzzzz.
The Kane women were still the best thing going today. Alicia kicked ass all over the damn place. Poor Kendall, she tried everything she could think of to confuse the issue and I felt for her when she had to confirm that Binky did it. Alicia was just wonderful today. Erica's confusion about what the hell was going on and whether Bianca was lying or not was sorta funny. Lucci did the best she could in her scenes. Eden rocked it, as usual. She had a helluva lot to convey and did a great job of it.
Beloved Pervy on high, we got some good Kinks today! I don't even know where to start. The SisYay was flying so fast and furious it defies listing, so I'll leave the complete breakdown of Kinky goodness to other sledders until I come down from my pervy high. Though Erica watching Kinks fawn all over each other on their couch of love deserves to be mentioned immediately. God, that was inappropriately funny.

I just finished watching the ep, and, wow. Wow. I'm just stunned. There is a lot of good stuff to talk about that was occurring all through the ep, but that scene where Kendall finally told the truth...amazing. Unbelievable. Alicia and Eden killed me. They had me crying from the moment Kendall began, "I love you," and kept me crying all the way through to the end of the scene. (I couldn't believe it when AMC stupidly cut to Maurmund crap, instead of to commercial, after that.) Susan provided fabulous background support while saying virtually nothing. It was the most powerful scene I've seen in a very, very long time and all three actresses deserve some kind of ensemble-acting Emmy for that. AMC could win an Emmy for best soap opera for this year on that scene alone. It was a beautiful emotional payoff for seven months of story and interaction. It was...I don't even have any more words.
Later I'll get my head together and gleefully talk about the SisYay to end all SisYay, and what I thought of Greenlee's Ryan-less scenes, and Anita, and Bianca having the sense to put an end to this entire mess, and all of that stuff. But not right now. That scene is it, that is why I watch soap operas. Damn.

I can live with the WGA win because Megan's problems lie in plotting rather than dialogue. Her dialogue isn't great (only ATWT really has that with any consistency on daytime) but it's rarely truly awful and occasionally it sparks. Since they only see a couple of eps (and the acting there was great) I get it. She's a hack mainly in the way she lays out plots and the asinine choices she makes. Are they gonna cross Nora over from OLTL to defend Bianca using the "Hey, I killed by [attempted] rapist, too, so Bianca should get off" defense? How much more interesting this would be if Kendall had been protecting Erica all this time. Or if the entire town really had done it together. That I would have enjoyed.

I wish I had your enthusiasm, but I was bored stiff today: it was repetitive and dumb. Meh.
Kendall's not out of the woods, by the way: she could be charged with all sorts of things (along with Reggie, Boyd and Erica) - though the D.A.'s office may take the extenuating circumstances under consideration, weigh the pros and cons and decide not to file.
Kinks was good, but what's with the I'm-not-going-to-flex-my-muscles-and-neither-are-you hug? It's weird.
kariyaki
Feb 23, 2004 @ 4:31 pm
I found most of the episode to be rather dull as well. For instance, I was ONLY watching the murder trial stuff. Maurmund and Greenlee Gets The Shaft got no attention paid by me.
Also, scenes like Opal/Palmer/Adam were on strictly for exposition and I only noticed them because Adam and Palmer amused. "Could this mean the end of the Cortlandt/Chandler feud?" "Noooooooo."
I also found the David lecturing Ryan scene to be lacking because in Greenlee's eyes, David ALSO betrayed her. Yet there he is, lecturing Ryan about it. Whatever.
Actually, even the Kane Women scenes were expositiony. They weren't telling us anything we didn't already know but the only reason they were great is because of the actresses. They can take boring, repetitive dialogue and spin it into gold.
So really, the only stuff I liked was the Kane Women acting and getting all excited about Kendall getting the mistrial.
And lastly... has Michael Jordan always been that ripped? Before, he would always be wearing those baggy basketball jerseys so I couldn't tell, but that form-fitting long-sleeve T he was wearing today had me thinking impure thoughts about young Reggie.

Hee! Well, I have two things working in my favor, I'm a whore for all things Kane-Montgomery and I've watched soaps my entire life (Thanks, Grams!). So basically, I don't expect to be blown away every day and generally focus on the stuff I like. If I get at least one scene that either moves me or that amuses me, I'm pretty content. I'm easy like dat, yo.

Are you trying to say there's no 'Too damn pretty to go to jail' rule?
It was a beautiful emotional payoff for seven months of story and interaction. It was...I don't even have any more words.
Yeah, that was some good stuff. It solidified a lot of things. It was cool seeing how Kendall felt and seeing just why she did the things she did. Even though we already knew it, I didn't mind getting shown it. It was a nice way to cap off the winding down of that part of the murder mystery. It being a good showcase for some kick ass acting was a plus too. I thought it a very necessary scene to have. Not enough can be said about how great a job the actors are doing with the material they are getting.

How about... there was a miniscule amount of blood on the sponge Kendall used to clean and it showed up when the cops sprayed with Luminol.
Black Knight
Feb 23, 2004 @ 5:08 pm
Was it actually confirmed that it was blood? I remember Bianca saying, "Is that blood?" and starting to move towards the wall, but then Erica stopped her and told her they should get out of there. Has it ever been addressed at any other point?
I thought it a very necessary scene to have. Not enough can be said about how great a job the actors are doing with the material they are getting.
Very true. I mean, you can't have all this wrap up with a brief, "I saw you", and then an "oh, ok," and end scene. Yeah, the dialogue was expositionary, and it's the acting that made the scene. The connection and emotions among all three Kanes were tangible. I still love that AMC had Erica silent the entire time that Kendall and Bianca talked--I don't mean that in a malicious way, even though I generally hate Erica, I just mean that it was right. It was one sister covering for another, and Erica watching one daughter about to go down in flames. Yeah, I knew what was going to happen, I knew how the scene would go, but then that's true with 95% of the scenes I watch on soaps. Especially given that I'm a spoiler-whore--I'm certainly not watching for surprises. I'm looking for acting, chemistry, emotion, connections, interaction, involving characters I care about. Eden, Alicia and Susan delivered in spades. Like you,
Mystic0, I'm a sucker for the Kane-Montgomerys.

Is it wrong that I giggled merrily when Ryan told David he was leaving town? I mean, I know that's not possible, but it was delicious to mull over for that brief moment.

Yeah, that was my take too. Beastmund I don't care about. The Ryan psychic connection is as bullshit and poorly acted as ever. I would've liked the second look we got at Anita if it had been in a different episode--the actress is definitely cute and so far I still have the impression she has some acting ability. And she and Eva seem to have a bit of a nice sisterly bond--as in
sisterly, not Kinksly--going on. I do have trouble looking at the two of them and believing that they're sisters, though.
I felt sorry for Rebecca because, except for the Ryan stuff, she had good scenes and was doing her usual good work. She just had the bad luck to be juxtaposed with the Eden/Alicia/Susan trio. Mary looked great in that red dress.
I'll talk about the Kane Women stuff in another post later. Hee.

Since I don't watch every single day, today (well, the Kane women, anyways) was really great IMO. I've been watching the last two or three weeks steadily, though, but today felt like a good pay-off. And maybe it's time to move forward, past this SL, on to bigger and better things for the Kane-Montgomereys. Finally.
Oh. I kind of like Anita. The jury is still out, but that's the prelim verdict.

Binks taking Kendall's hand and dropping to one knee... did I dream that?
Thank Pervy, y'all thought so too. The couch wasn't a let down though, ever since the first
brainstorming session, the couch has special meaning to Kinks. Hee! Man, the Kinks today! Out. Of. Control. Kendall's "I love you! I think I would kill for you!"? Whoa. Erica looking on at them, outside of their intensity, gave a slight voyeuristic vibe. That whole sequence, when Binks started to apologize, just veered into this whole hyper-intimacy deal, what with the music swelling in the background and all. I think my pervy filter shorted out before the ep even ended. Hee!
And taking a left turn, too! Hee.
[stubborn] It could happen! [/stubborn]
I'll talk about the Kane Women stuff in another post later.
Oh, I just bet you will. ;) There's a lot to be hammered out about where the Kane Women are headed. I'm sure Erica will either push aside her issues about the baby until after Bianca's legal fate is decided or maybe the fear of losing Bianca will help Erica see the bigger picture and actually deal. The important thing to come out of all of this (for me anyway) is that Kendall/Reggie/Binks have really formed something that I think will stay true and endure. That simply rocks, man.
Oh. I kind of like Anita. The jury is still out, but that's the prelim verdict.
Thanks for stating my opinion on Anita so much better than I managed to. (Off to buy that "Proper conversational skills is for losers!" t-shirt I've had my eye on.)

I'm okay on Anita so far. Although, when I first saw her, I was like, "Why is Greenlee talking to Aidan? I thought she was in a mine shaft." Seriously, yo, Anita looks like the love child of Greenlee and Simone.

I've been loving all the Kane women stuff. AMC is so lucky to have such talented actors in Alicia, Eden, and Susan.
I love Reggie.
I don't care too much about Edmund and Maria, although the new Anita is doing pretty well.
Greenlee in the mine is getting old, but I loved that even in Greenlee's head, Mia is still stupid. I liked Simone hitting her in the back of the head.
And I don't understand why Ryan is still on the show. Why won't he just go away?

Ryan saying he's leaving is a tease. I was all, "Please. Let my dream come true."
Today bored me too. Yeah, the Kanes are great and all. All three of them. And we got some Kinks ... and the Anita girl is hot (you can never have too many good looking brunettes.) and, thank god, doesn't do girlfister with Maria (it's only acceptable for Kinks, people.)
We got some Livia and some Judge Lambert ...
Reggie grew up overnight (I just started noticing the change last week.)...
Why am I bored? I forget. But I am. Time for the baby and for the characters to get on with their lives. Poor Greenlee- Shafted for the entire month of sweeps.Boo frickin' hoo. Who thought up this most craptastic of storylines? Who ever you are, I hope they fire your ass and promote Pervy.

According to a new SOD special when Luscious and Lil Budig have to work late, they relax by singing duets together. Eden says she loves to sit amongst the Grand Tetons and ponder things. I had to put the magazine down because I was laughing so hard and thinking of the sled team.

but that form-fitting long-sleeve T he was wearing today had me thinking impure thoughts about young Reggie.
Definatly have to agree with that one! I was on the verge of tears while watching the reggie and bianca interaction. I'm glad that the actors are making this stuff pretty entertaining even though it's alot of the same stuff just being repeated over or dragged out which i think we'll be seeing more of.

especially at the part where [Amanda is] wearing a tanktop and gets a kickball bounced off her boobs
Yeah, that was lovely. Great link,

That said,
Skiffy is right -- Anita is HOT. The actress is pretty good, too.
Pervy topped himself today with Binky getting down on her knees in front of Kendall. Their PDA is getting less and less discreet. Just the way we like it!

Greenlee could fantasize herself into any gorgeous coat, and she imagined that monstrosity? The Punisher is what you guys call the wardrobe person right? Very apt description.
I love that Reggie knew all along it was Bianca and helped Kendall. They could've chose any other character but making it Reggie just cements his place in the Kane/Montgomery family.
Oh. I kind of like Anita. The jury is still out, but that's the prelim verdict.
I don't mind Anita, but the dialogue they are putting her mouth is a stupid as can be.
Binks taking Kendall's hand and dropping to one knee... did I dream that?
I thought that's what it was and I about died, when I thought Binks was genuflecting at the feet of the goddess that is Kendall, but no she just sat down on the couch and the camera followed her at a weird angle.
Oh, stop being silly! It was clearly Adam's blood flying aaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way from courtyard to mantle. No fanwanking needed. ;)

I'm not sure about Anita for two reasons.
1. She used to be on Saved by the Bell the New class which is just very uncool.
2. I fast forward all of the Maria/Edmund and family scenes and so I haven't a clue why she's in Pine Valley and I don't really care.

I can't even listen to music without thinking about AMC.
In honor of today's Kinks scenes, I present lyrics to 311's Amber.
Amber
Brainstorm
take me away from the norm
I got to tell you something
this phenomenon
I had to put it in a song
and it goes like
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
you ought to know what brings me here
you glide through my head blind to fear
and I know why
whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
You live too far away
your voice rings like a bell anyway
don't give up your independence
unless it feels so right
nothing good comes easily
sometimes you gotta fight
Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
launched a thousand ships in my heart, so easy
still it's fine from afar, and you know that
whoa, brainstorm take me away from the norm
whoa, I got to tell you something

I love that Reggie knew all along it was Bianca and helped Kendall. They could've chose any other character but making it Reggie just cements his place in the Kane/Montgomery family.
Word. I think that's really been the big benefit of this particular SL, for all its faults and whatnot. It's really firmly established the Kane-Montgomery family. Kendall and Bianca now have an unbreakable bond. For all Erica's vagaries, former black sheep Kendall's place in the family is finally secure. Reggie no longer only has a relationship with Jack. AMC's now got a really strong family unit that can move forward with in other, hopefully better, SLs that will take maximum advantage of all the chemistry between the actors and all the various relationships and bonds and dynamics. That moment when Reggie and Jack showed up in the room, and Reggie and Bianca hugged tightly (awwwww) and then we had the three siblings standing in a row and "Mom and Dad" facing them, I thought to myself that this is one hella cool family. And it's going to be real interesting when Greenlee comes back, because now she's more of an outsider than ever.
So, the Kane Women. I noticed that at the start AMC reused Alicia's brilliant reaction shot from yesterday, but then Alicia went and topped it twice. I knew Kendall was not going to give up the fight easily and sure enough, she held out until past the halfway mark. I loved everything she tried, from attempting to rush out to plead guilty to trying to convince Bianca that she was imagining things. I see Kendall has something else in common with her mother--Bury! Forget! Deny! as her standard advice. Hee. Erica's reaction was to be expected as well: first assuming that Bianca was covering for her (and Kendall smartly tried to build on that), then confusion. I loved when Tad came in and gave Erica her alibi. At that point on, Erica just quietly fell apart inside. She knew one of her daughters had to be guilty. Great understated work by Susan.
And the Kinks! Hee. First, Alicia's reaction shot when Bianca said that she was remembering. Even more devastated than the previous reaction shot. Then the look Bianca gave her when she realized that Kendall knew that she did it. Very intense, and an interesting hint of a smile on her face, even. And as
Mystic0 said earlier, the scene in which Kendall admits the truth just turns really hyper-intense. Erica has her final line of the scene very early in and is just absolutely quiet afterwards, while Kinks are focused on absolutely nothing and no one else except each other. I doubt they even remembered Erica was still in the room. Kendall had such trouble admitting the truth (yet avoided bursting into flames). The handshagging. The intense declaration of love. The tearful apologies. The music too--first sorta-romantic music playing while Kendall explained everything, and then a drastic change to a somber, serious "Love of my life"-type music when Bianca began speaking. The music director so sees the SisYay. There was another great music moment later, when Kendall took Bianca's hand to walk her out of the room, and bells started chiming as they looked at each other as they left. It was like a damn wedding. Hee. Food for thought: Kendall and Bianca left the room ahead of everyone else, but everyone else beat them to the courtroom. Now just where did Kinks go in the interim? We know it involved clothing because Bianca put her coat on afterwards. Ha! And word to
Mystic0 on the couch of love. Bianca so looked like she was going to kiss Kendall. Hee.
The whole Kinks courtroom stuff was cool because it was like the Kinksday ep in reverse. First Kendall escorting Bianca past the reporters. Kendall this time being the one to keep constant physical contact with her sister--I about died when Lena and Naggie came up and I saw Kinks had their arms slung around each other's waists, and Kendall keeps her arm there. They're sooooo a couple. And then when Bianca goes up to the judge and confesses, Kendall gets a shocked reaction shot just like Bianca did. And that reaction shot was the best reaction shot yet from Alicia. Kendall's just shocked and devastated and heartbroken, again. Damn.
Few other comments: Pervy, fabulous job on the Kinks, but listen to me, no more MoYay. Tell Susan to keep her hands off Eden's face and to stay an appropriate distance from her. Ewwww. And the judge's reaction to Bianca was nicely complex. Yes, she's serious and no-nonsense, but I thought there was a very, very slight hint of something softer, too. Perhaps it was Bianca's big doe eyes.

I have to chime in right along with you guys on Anita--she seems OK so far. But, they need to not head down the Aidanita route here. Just no.
It cracks my shit up to no end that Pervy, Alicia, and Eden have all decided subtext is no longer necessary. I'm just waiting now for some actual acknowledgment that Kinks is doing it. I'll take Bianca having another preterm labor scare and David advising "Now, you need to take it easy until you have this baby. That means ease off on the 'brainstorming' with Kendall, OK? You don't want the hormone surge to start the labor process."
Gee, look, Greenlee's still down a mineshaft. You know, there's a reason I always try to make sure I have a fully charged cellphone when I leave home--I've learned from soaps that bad situations from which you need rescue invariably occurr when your cellphone is out of juice or out of your service area. (I'm assuming Greens' phone is out of juice or something.)

KerleyQ,
My cash is on the baby delivery when Bianca goes in the stirrups and someone asks Kendall to go to the waiting room and she says, "Oh, please. It's not like I haven't seen it before." Then Bianca laughs and they hold hands. *sigh*
Seriously though ... all Kinks aside, LENA had better be there for the delivery. I'd hate to see it be all Planet Zorch and fudgescicles and ... like, you know, shallowcakes.

I FF'd through some of the early Greens-in-mineshaft scenes, but my friend told me they hadn't brought up the issue of her cellphone at all. I just choose to fanwank that it broke in the fall. Of course, that brings up the problem of how Greenlee fell without breaking something, but what the heck. Maybe she just drank a lot of milk as a child.

Actually, the first thing Greenlee did was check her cell phone. She couldn't get a signal.
