David Canary's rankings for 2003, for instance--yes, he's low, but I also believe he got a significant uptick in appearances in the last few months (but only kariyaki can confirm that)
And I shall do so. Actually, Adam started out the year pretty strong because of the Shaggy/Borie storyline. But once they fired the Shagster, he was back burnered for the bulk of the year. Then he jumped up from 3 appearances in September to 14 in October once they involved him with Palmer and the Asscicle storyline, not to mention JR's return catapulted him back up there as well. And he's remained consistent with his appearances since.
Who isn't engaging with Kendall? Other than Ryan, that is.

Juan Pablo. I fall asleep every time he's in a scene with her. Through no fault of Alicia's, of course.
I too am really not a big Tad the Cad fan, or even a particularly big Tad fan at all. I do see and recognize MEK's considerable charisma, excellent comedic timing, acting ability, and so on, but for some reason I'm still left cool towards him anyway. His particular brand of sexiness just isn't something I respond to personally. But I know he's enormously popular, a longtime veteran, a doll in real life, and I don't mind him getting screentime. I certainly don't need to FF him (except perhaps in scenes with Krystal).
Regarding Vincent, there was actually a rumor that one of the network honchos wanted to see him paired with Eden. His idea was squashed fast, of course, and it's rumor, but frankly I wouldn't be surprised if that one was true. His salary's hefty and ABC will want to use him or lose him. But Alicia and Rebecca already have so many men around them, and Eden's playing a character who's 100% gay, thereby not leaving any other options for Vincent on the canvas other than the older women. Yes, there's Amelia and Terri, but they're considered B-list actresses and someone like Vincent generally does not get paired with the B-list. It's the same reason the TIIC will insist that Cameron be paired with Alicia or Rebecca no matter how gag-inducing we find either couple. Gotta love actor politics.

As far as MEK, I'm probably the only one who doesn't find Tad the Cad amusing. Well, I do find him funny, but I'm never, "Damn! That Tad/Whoever love scene was HOT!!", ya know?
I don't either actually. The only scenes I saw him have where I thought he had smoking hot chemistry with the woman was him and Anna. And all they did was talk and/or argue. If they had been allowed to do ANYTHING, they would have had to vacuum me up with a wet/dry vac.
And on a lesser scale, Liza. But I don't find him and Smoan hot, ditto him and Krystal.
I crush on him because he's so charming and effervescent. If he didn't have that going for him? I wouldn't look twice at him.

can come in handy, though, because the directors tend to use the slow pan over to the actors, so when the music starts I know to shield my eyes before I have to see anything.

Word. While I do love Aidan, the younger guys on this show are severly lacking the dynamic-ness of the women. DC and VI are both great but they're mostly out of the realm of romantic leads for the younger leading ladies.
I completely agree, but on the other hand, since the only other soap I watch is GH, I have to admit there's something refreshing about AMC having a disproportionate number of strong, dynamic women as compared to men. Sigh.

SFHagood, unlike Britney, Boobe actually seems to possess two functioning brain cells.
Speaking of "background" music, I was just thinking of commending AMC for their sparse use of ::dramatic organs:: and the like to set up commercial breaks or segue from scene to scene. I do like the occasional use of the abbreviated 'Tad the Cad' jingle though; I just don't always appreciate the scenes which inspire it.
Adding to the Who Sparks with Tad? commentary: I don't think Tad & Smoan are hot (I never really found MEK to be good looking, however, recent viewings of his younger days pictures gave me a better appreciation for what people were ga-ga-ing over back then) but I do believe they're cute and hellafunny together. I think MEK and TI have a similar appeal. IMO, they are both stronger at comedy than dramah and both inject a sort of naturalness into their characters – which I don’t think is necessarily
"Acting" – that just makes you root for and like them despite yourself. Putting them together only magnifies their appeal, at least for me, making Tad and Smoan a nice, fun, hookup couple without the skank. As long as we don’t get RunningThroughTheFieldsInLove!Smoan, I'll take Timone over Not!Dixie and Liza (assuming she never gets her groove back) any day.

Add me in as a vote for the Tad/Simone camp. I think they have a nice easy chemistry and I like the way both the actors and characters mesh together. I find them an appealing pair.
The only other woman I've ever really and truly liked Tad with is Brooke. Yes, I know I'm all alone on that one.

Forgot about Brooke. (And isn't that AMC's problem also?) I guess I didn't list her because we aren't being served up Tad and Brooke at the present time. I do like the recent bemused parents scenes, but their romance is only a vague memory for me. I guess I was all about Tad and Dixie and getting Dixie away from evil Adam at the time, using up my available AMC memory cells. Gotta leave some of those for Ryan's Hope, Loving, ATWT, GL, and 1990s OLTL and GH you know? :)
Topic? I really hope Lena uses her spine in an acceptable manner (read: verbally bitchslap Maggie without Bianca knowing it) tomorrow.

Lena never sets a foot wrong dealing with someone else in front of Bianca, no matter how angry or distracted or whatever she might be. Bianca throws her off her game in some ways, but not in that. It's pretty amusing. Whether it's Erica or Maggie she's talking to, the HPF always comes out smelling like a rose to Bianca.
I'm sure Maggie's going to wind up looking like a bitch as usual again and Lena will wind up looking like a selfless saint, even though both will be arguing from completely selfish motives. Hee. Not that I actually expect Lena to come right out and say "Stay here and tell the truth about your pregnancy". Too obvious. It'll be "do what you think best" blah blah blah and she'll leave it to Maggie to annoy Bianca. The only opinion Bianca is really willing to not only listen to, but follow, on a regular basis is Myrtle's. It's kind of amusing that Erica's never figured that out, though Myrtle's smarter than to let Erica manipulate her into influencing Bianca to do something Erica wants.

I suspect Myrtle's not the only opinion that Bianca would follow now that she's joined at the hip or whatever other part of the anatomy with Kendall. I suspect if Kendall asks Bianca to jump, Bianca will go out and buy a trampoline.

Meh, today's AMC was just the latest in a series of bland, boring, sucky episodes. Tad used to amuse me, but I don't like him with Simone and I'm already bored with the notfunny!funny schtick.
I'm looking forward to Lianca tomorrow - when am I not? - and expect things will go just as BK predicts because Lena can't read Bianca worth a damn, but knows how to make herself look great and mature especially when she's next to Maggie. Not that it take a whole village for that.

Hee. Much as I love Kinks, I think it's still largely a 50/50 power struggle between the two of them. Bianca's ignored Kendall's opinions quite a few times--usually when Kendall's trying to protect Bianca, which is one of Bianca's biggest red buttons--and when she does agree to something Kendall says, Kendall's usually had to argue for it. (It goes both ways, too. Neither of them are able to just bat their eyelashes at each other and get what they want--except when one of them is proposing a long
brainstorming session on the couch, of course.) That said, Kendall's batting average is still better than everyone else in Bianca's life, with the exception of Myrtle.
I agree that it's easy to look mature next to Maggie--but where Lena's special talent comes in is being able to insult Maggie while looking mature, classy, gracious...I still snicker thinking of her "You're too sensitive" line that Maggie knew was catty but Bianca took as reassurance. Not to mention the smirking at Maggie while standing out of Bianca's eyeline. Go, HPF!

Oh, we should all emulate Lena in this area. She practically gives seminars... deflating La Kane, mid-rant, several times, dissing pre-Kinks Kendall, and more recently (during McT’s tenure), deflecting Maggie during the Thanksgiving Day Bathroom (Mis)Match Up. Classic. But I have to slap Lena with a handicap for the upcoming

Back to the Chuck and Donna topic - Chuck was Phoebe's grandson and was involved in one of the original AMC teen love triangles. Donna at one point was married to Palmer when he was actually a regular on the show. IIRC, Emily Ann was the daughter of one of PV's fave villains Billy Clyde Tuggle and ex-hooker and Donna's best galpal Estelle.
If ya'll continue to talk about my Tadley as if he's not THE MAN, I will be forced to cover my eyes and repeat "la la la, la la la" whenever I read this board! I remember him as the young studmuffin (with that big poofy 80s hair) who was shampoo boy at the Glamorama and worked his caddimagic on all the PV ladies and he will always be THE MAN! I do, however, wish he'd stay the hell away from the Mom o' Boobe.

boris. I followed through on my original intent to just watch Kendall at the end, and the previews, and screamed in horror when I saw Maggie's pigtails. That deserved an advance warning! Lena's hair is problematic too, but compared to the Magster? Gorgeous in comparison. And I see Bianca's wrapped herself up with her shawl. The good is that that shapeless middle section will be covered; the bad is that the rack will be covered. Damn.
While FFing to get to Kendall, I also noticed Maggie's dress. I mean, I saw it before, during the NYE-midnight-kissing episode. But, was it just suddenly 50 times brighter today or something? Ugh.
A slo-mo examination of the final moment of Kendall allowed me to conclude that Aidan grabbed her, Mia slammed the door, and Edmund for some bizarre reason stopped the door from shutting, and then let it shut. Wow, Edmund's dumber than Mia! I forget if Mumbles had a hand on Kendall too, but sadly Greenlee's tiny tiny muscular arms were definitely across the room. I wonder if Alicia was thinking, "Wow, from that rather neat gas leak explosion to this unbelievably poorly-staged crap. What happened to the production values in the intervening few weeks?"

It also had the unfortunate tendency to be, uh, ill-fitting. The only thing that kept me from unvoluntarily cracking up from the Jaime/Maggie scenes was Liz hiking that sucker up frequently. That's also a good sign of a bad dress, you can't keep it up, so to speak.
As for tomorrow, they seem to be keeping Maggie firmly in the teen department with regards to hair. I know that Mia tried working the "sexy pigtail" angle, but it really didn't work.

I'm all for MEK getting some screen time and if he's not with Dixie, I'm okay with Simone. They're cute and amusing. Not digging on Tad and the Senior Skankette (not to be confused with her daughter, Junior Skankette). Are we supposed to find it hot that Tad went to bed with her just to get the goods on Boobe? It just makes me think less of him, actually, and I've always loved Tad.
The rumors about a Tad/David/Krystal triangle bore me to tears since I don't like her enough to care who she ends up with. Adam/Krystal could be interesting, even though it would sort of be a rehash of Palmer/Opal.

Just back from vacation. Caught a few episodes (including the 31st). Not sure I will even watch the tapes as the rest of the SLs have seemed to progress at less than a snail's pace. Why, tomorrow is still New Year's Eve night! It was still night when Kendall opened the door and it will still be night when the
"shootout" occurs, and it will still be night when Maria saves Edmund's life. Does that mean it will also still be NYE night when Binks goes over to tell Erica and finds her with Jackson? No wonder they weren't at the PVI party. I hope she changes clothes first. Her current outfit alone would send Erica over the edge.
Tomorrow's previews? Lena's hair is a mess. I prefer to think that it got that way as she was laying on the couch with her head against the pillows with Binks on top of her as they were engaged in rediscovering the joys of kissing each other. Then Maggie walked in and...suddenly Bianca's wearing a shawl. (Binks taking Lena back to her apartment was her insurance that things wouldn't get too far too fast. She knew Maggs the guard dog couldn't be off her post too long. JP should have hired her to protect him.) As for the triangle...what to make of Maggie's line today (paraphrased), "sometimes, no matter how much you love someone, you just have to realize that they are already with the person they were meant to be with". Go Lianca!...cause surely she wasn't refering to JR and Britney...I mean Babe.

2deadcows, love this phrase. I'm trying to figure out how to use this in my performance evaluation goals for the next year at work. Instead of saying "I want to improve my ability to play the "bad cop" and scare the hell out of somebody", I can focus on suave arctic intimidation skills.
The new couple I will not FF through? Liza and Brooke. Love them. Get rid of Liza's few moments of jealousy and those two could be long term gems together...snarking their way through Pine Valley and messing with the minds of many a PV woman (and man). Better yet...let them conduct chemistry experiments with each other and add to the lesbian canvas in town. Another couple formed with no newbies and no additional salary needs. Let them be the acerbic dyke couple in town.

Kendall is charmed with some sort of magical luck that saves her ass. No matter what bad situation she's in (that she usually got herself into), she comes out unscathed. Bianca? The anti-Kendall. She has the worst luck ever. She doesn't have to go looking for trouble, it just finds her. The Lesbian Job, ladies and gentleman, and this time? God's really mad.

I think Bianca would do pretty much anything for her sister at this point--telling Erica to confess to Michael's murder if she was guilty in order to save Kendall from going to jail instead was a big turning point for Binks, as she didn't want her mother going to prison even when she thought Erica truly had murdered her girlfriend--but I don't think that's necessarily the same as doing anything that Kendall asks her to do. Fortunately. But Kendall does also have a way of managing to present her latest harebrained scheme as the One and Only Solution that I can see ultimately getting Bianca into mucho trouble down the road. Not that, as you say, Bianca needs any help in letting trouble know where to find her. I don't mind, as I definitely want to see more Kinks partner-in-crime stuff as the years go on. The pregnancy plot SL was stupid but their dynamic is fun--AMC can certainly come up with better things for them to work on. Give 'em some corporate hijinks please. What with Kendall being so distracted, even Lena must be having some trouble keeping several major companies afloat. Are we to believe that Erica's ouster from Enchantment and Kendall's legal trouble has had no effect on its image, stock price, sales, etc? It's really a perfect opportunity to let the Kane sisters turn their attention to business once the murder mystery is resolved.
Word on hating Tad for his actions yesterday. Simone does deserve better. I don't think he slept with Krystal for the annulment papers; he slept with her because he wanted to. Either way it's icky, but I almost find the latter ickier because Simone's so much better than Krystal. How dumb is Tad?

I was distressed by Tad and Smoan just because he hadn't seemed to have taken a shower or changed the sheets. God, that grosses me out.

Just saw on SON (i know, i know) that Anita Santos has been cast, and it's a chick that used to be on that primetime soap with Finola Hughes, Pacific Palisades...and there's all this back and forth that Christian (brother of Neve) Campbell has either been cast as Bobby Warner or someone else...Gee, never thought he'd be on a soap! Personally, I'd rather see his Trick co-star J.P. Pitoc (who also showed up on Six Feet Under last season)come on to AMC! HUNKALICIOUS!
But I did see a recent pic of Christian where he looked pretty good himself...I just hope the rumours about him playing Ryan's rapist brother Braden or false...Why in the hell would AMC bring ANOTHER rapist on board?
Oh, yeah...because McT created Braden, and she is intent on infesting her twisted psyche into this show!

Oh dear God, that shoot-out scene was hilarious. Ryan is bouncing back and forth from behind some hedge, meanwhile the whole thing is rocking like it's about to fall over. Fake snow is spraying everywhere.
The choreography wasn't bad, though. Especially at the end where the guy took a shot at Edmund and Mauria. Until Edmund collapsed, I couldn't tell who had been shot.

Hi, I've been lurking on this board since, well, the Lianca kiss in April when I started watching the show. I just wanted to congratulate y'all for totally calling the Maggie and Lena's reactions to Bianca's decision. I was laughing out loud during that whole scene (to the total confusion of my roommates) because it was all going just as you had predicted.
On other notes:
Was the guy who pulled the gun on Greenlee, Kendall, and Mia the one Ryan tied up like five minutes before? Good job, Ryan. Nice.
I loved Erica's straightening her dress and turning the light on when Bianca arrived. "Oh, no, I wasn't about to have sex with your uncle." And writing that, I am reminded just how bizarre this family situation is.
I choose to believe that Aidan's little glance back after he kissed Mia on the way to make his "distraction" was directed at Kendall. Because I refuse to believe that the last thing he would do before risking his life would involve Mia at all.
As for yesterday's Tad/Krystal scene: Ew! And at the very least Tad should tell Simone and let her make her own decisions. This way he's just acting like a tool.

That was exactly what I was thinking at first, but I actually liked that scene. Mainly because Eden really can conjure that insane look pregnant women get when talking about their babies. She's *really* good at that. I would have prefered Binks telling the manger story over seeing it anyway.
I really liked today's ep. Jerica! Yay! (shut up.) I even loved the Lodge of Inprobability and Inappropriate Laughter today. Greenlee regained my love by kicking Ryan. Ryan showed his true colors of being a worthless, cowardly jackass for the whole world to see. Mia/Greens/Kendall doing Charlie's Angels? Had me rolling. Aidan being all hot and competent? Yum. Edmund's complete non-reaction at first to hearing Maria was captured? Rolling again, was I.
As for the B/L/M's stuff, Lena going in for the kill at the end rocked. Dayum! I gotta give it up to
Black Knight for totally nailing exactly how the scene would play out. Mad 'spect to you, yo. Lena even got a good zinger in on Mags. "You sound like you are speaking from experience." Burn! I'll leave the dissecting of these scenes to finer minds than mine but I actually think they were decently written and well done ('cept Liz had some trouble with her line readings at first).
Just to hit a Lianca point real quick, does anyone else groan and giggle whenever Lena plays the 'friends' card? I *still* take this as a passive/aggressive move. For one thing, all the evidence points to how completely laughable it is, her suggesting they are just friends. She's wearing the ring, they made out on New Years, she promised to wait for Binks, ect. The reason I take it as a p/a move is that you only say something that obviously questionable if you are fishing for it to be disputed. Lena, sweetie, that's not gonna work. Bianca will keep ignoring it or side-stepping it. I really hope Lena saying she would give Chance a call if Lianca doesn't work out was totally a joke and not a subtle nudge. Because if it was a 'I can get other action. I'm hot, you know', it didn't work too well from the way Bianca burst into laughter. Plus, you can't make your kinda/sorta GF jealous with a man you've both been blasting on for being a loser. Not a good idea. Besides, I think Lena was joking, right?

Damn--I honestly thought we were going to get to see Erica's confession to Jack on screen. Can't they through us a bone and give us some details? It's been how long now? Speaking of how long it's been, shouldn't Bianca be like 6 months pregnant now? I'm thinking it would be pretty hard to hide it.

God, the 6 Stooges in the Lodge story is sooooo annoying! Especially the head Stooge - nice job tying the guy up, Ryan. Dumbass. Guess he only knows how to grab the women. Why couldn't his dumb ass be shot? I wish everyone had turned their guns and snowshoes on him and blasted him out of our misery.
But I liked how Maggie's immaturity was contrasted with Lena's maturity today. And Bianca's WTF looks to Maggie's freakouts were great. I also liked how Bianca grabbed Lena into the hug - it looked more natural than previous ones, grabbing her around the waist. Yum. I hated that she apologized for it though, and we had to sit through the stupid "that's what friends do" bit. Ugh. Yeah, like friends kiss each other like that. Remember how you kissed each other, girls? Not that long ago?
I wish Lena's hair would go back to how it was on the morning after their big night of lesbo sex. She looked so great that morning.
Oh, and it was weird that Bianca and Maggie changed their clothes. Lena looked odd sitting there still in her NYE clothes.

Bianca was raped right after the 4th of July. In the real world she'll be due at the end of March/early April. She is about two weeks behind me, and I am 7 months pregnant now and due at the beginning of March. I am pretty big now. There is no way I could hide it or wear ugly sequined dresses.

At least today wasn't the borefest of Monday, there was plenty to laugh at from Maggie's usual bad wardrobe to hijinks in the cabin.
Maggie honey, I had a shawl in 1976 with the photos to prove it, but at least then I had the excuse of my mother dressing me.
The whole Aiden/Edmund/Ryan hero crap had me laughing my ass off, as did the three girls taking down the baddie. And for once, Greens told Ryan to shut his piehole and shoved him to boot, that's my girl. All the fight choreography was pretty hilarious. It's always good to have something to laugh at.

regis. Lena's hair was also fabu during the airport and airport aftermath ("our friendly bellhop" - that knee dip cracked me up) scenes. The hair/makeup people should be shot for wrongs they have since inflicted on Lena/Olga. That said, Olga seems to be the adventurous sort when it comes down to trying new hair styles - she's gone through more looks in the one year she's been on the show than I have in the past five.

Did the Edmund/Mauria scene remind anyone of West Side Story? It seemed like the director was trying to replicate the scene where Tony and Maria see each other and run to one another with open arms but Tony gets shot right as they make contact. Dude, that scene makes me cry everytime. I'm such a wuss. AMC fell way short if that's what they were going for.
I must admit, although this show has been sucking serious ass lately, I liked the shootout scene. The way they were holding their guns was bothering me though. But whatever, it was a nice change of pace - a little action for once.

Oh good I didn't miss anything. I left the room for five minutes and came back to see Jack tell Erica that she shouldn't have worried about telling him and I thought I missed the damn thing. Then I realized they have been so sparring with the details up to now that they probably wouldn't bring it up so close to Kendall's trial when hopefully this entire storyline will get wrapped up.
God, I hate Mia she actually got pissy about Aiden pulling Kendall out of the way of a bullet. Shut up, Mia.

I HATED the bed-hoping at the lodge. Hated it. Just when you think things are going to go in another direction MCCRAPISH drags us back for another round of same-ole-same-ole.
One thing I LOVED was when Tad told Jamie about DOTTIE THORNTON! Whoo hoo...I lurved me some Dottie...(but not with Andrew...yuck).
Anytime AMC can take me back to the good old days I am a happy man!
