Sadly, I don't think Bianca would smack Maggie. We'd get a priceless WTF? expression, followed by a "what the hell is going on?" chat. And I do think, as mentioned, that it'd bring an end to the Bianca/Maggie living arrangements. Given Maggie's behavior during the Champagne Incident, I do wish Binks'd exact a little payback. Maggie was just so unnecessarily and unjustifiably cruel.

And then Bianca can move in with Kendall! Whee!

(Don't get me wrong, I do want to see Lianca living together, and I'm sure if Bianca rooms with her sis, Lena will park herself on the sofa again and be a defacto third roomie, but they're not ready yet for that step. After a few go-rounds of reunion sex and some talking, yes. Besides, imagine the fun when Lena comes to pick Bianca up for a date and Kendall can play the Concerned Older Sister.)

I've always held this against Maggie, that was the worst thing she's ever done to Bianca and I've never forgiven her for it. That bitch. I'd love to see Bianca get a little revenge, but sadly, it will never happen. Not with McHack around and her lovin' Maggie ways.

hehe, oh what fun that would be!

Kendall: "Listen, Lena, you better have my gir..sister home by midnight or I'm gonna kick your ass."
Lena: "Oh fuck, and I thought Erica was bad!"

Anyone know what Liz's educational background is?

Liz went to Syracuse, before transferring to Fordham in NYC. She's currently on leave from there. She's educated enough to know how to use spell check.

BK and Skiffy thank you both for pointing out the nightmare of Liz as spokesperson. I shutter to think of her trying to talk about the love triangle and Maggie's sexuality. Many of the photos taken of Liz in the press seem to have her making some sort of goofy face. I imagine her squirming like a 5 year old, and occasionally interrupting with a *burp* noise while Olga and Eden elegantly talk about the storyline.

Christ on a pony, I hate when I get here late and there are eleventy million things to 'word' or reply to. Dammit.

And second, notice Kendall's huge laugh and shining gooey eyes when Bianca said something that made her and Reggie burst out laughing.

(happy sigh) Yep. Actually one of the things I like best (besides the pervy nirvana) about Kinks, is how fucking sweet Kendall is. You really only get to see this side of Kendall with Binks. She wasn't blowing smoke up Binky's ego when she was telling Bianca how proud she is of her sister, how proud she is to *be* Binky's sister, she really means it. Kendall just glows around Bianca and it's damn nice to see Kendall truly happy and secure about someone loving her. No matter what fuckery Erica or Kendall's 'Flavor of the Month' romantic interest puts Kendall through, she's got at least one person she can count on to support her. That's awesome.

Regarding Liz's post, the one thing that really irked me is she's one of those actors that (intentionally or not) projects that she's doing someone a favor by bothering to talk with them. You know that "I'm bored so I decided to make your day better by deigning to bleat at you." tone. Yes, I'm being catty but I hate that shit.

and Eden's Girlfriends comments kind of hit the nail on the head

Is this interview online anywhere?

About today's ep: Simone? You redeemed yourself a bit but you're still on probation.
Black Knight
I remember one time, shortly after Henry's introduction, when Liz gave an interview gushing over the couple. She tripped up and made a comment about Maggie having been asexual all those months beforehand, and got roasted for it.

In all fairness, I do think she's a sweet girl who's worried about her job and knows that one of her SLs or pairings has got to catch fire if she wants to stay employed, and the only one she's had any success with is BAM. Unless Olga leaves the show, I imagine Liz's last chance is the relative of Ryan's. If that doesn't take off, bye bye. Tim, Henry and Carlos (sort of) are already Maggie casualties.

ETA:

Last I checked, the people on Eden's board were hesitating to type it up because of copyright concerns, though I haven't checked back recently to see the status (since I already have the magazine and all). There wasn't a lot of new material, and Eden mostly sticks to being serious, but there are some nice comments when she talks about Olga, Liz, and the fanbases. The Lianca SOW pin-up poster is up on her door, though I think that's already been mentioned elsewhere. Oh, and in keeping with our discussion a little while ago, she talks about the pressure of being a spokesperson. Funniest bit, I thought--the interviewer said that the million dollar question was when Lianca were going to get back together, and Eden said it was worth a million dollars to her too. Hee. Not that she has any preference or anything, no...

I don't have the mag here, but I'll see if I can post some highlights when I get a chance.
CKD
Why was she roasted for that? Aside from displeasing a few BAMmers, why would a comment like that be cause for controversy?
Mysticks Muse
Is there a transcript somewhere of the champagne incident? I've heard it referenced, but don't know that much about it. I assume it involves Maggie being an ass.

That's why she was roasted--it upset the BAM fanbase. I remember the hysteria on Eden's board the day the article came out, the BAMmers talking about how they'd been working so hard campaigning for BAM and then Liz goes and invalidates it all by saying that Maggie had been asexual all those months with Bianca...blah blah blah...eventually people calmed down, but it was ugly at first.

Mysticks Muse, I'll look for the transcript. I'm pretty sure the site I know of was still active at that point in time, though it's since stopped. Yes, Maggie was an ass. A huge ass. A cold, unfeeling, bitchy ass...you'd have thought Bianca had tried to rape her. Seriously. I understand gay panic, but this was just over the top.

Exactly! I hate that shit too.

Maggie was an ass during the champagne incident. Letting a drunk Bianca drive home was stupid and just mean.

I think it had something to do with the bammers being upset that they had spent all this time pimping Bianca and Maggie together and then Liz gets this new storyline and says that her character was "asexual" before...I guess they got the feeling that Liz was saying that her new storyline was great because she could finally get out of asexual hell...which is the storyline that Bammers were pimping.

WORD That was just ugly and over the top.
Black Knight
Maggie was an ass during the champagne incident. Letting a drunk Bianca drive home was stupid and just mean.

That was the exact point that I knew for a fact that Maggie wasn't Frankie. (There had been speculation for awhile that Maggie would eventually be revealed to be Frankie.) When Bianca caught Frankie in bed with JR, Frankie did the mature, responsible, and hella brave thing, in calling Erica and letting her know that Bianca was running around alone and upset. Maggie just booted Bianca out. If she didn't want Bianca in her room because she feared cooties, fine, at least take away her keys, call a cab, and send her to the lobby to wait. Yes, Bianca's responsible for her stupid decision to get in her car and drive drunk (and she took complete responsibility for her actions immediately--it was Erica who blamed Kendall for everything), but still...friends don't let friends drive drunk and all that.

I'm still annoyed just thinking about it. When Maggie made that snarky comment to Lena about never hurting Bianca, I was yelling at my screen about the Champagne Incident.
dizzeelizzee
Is there a transcript somewhere of the champagne incident?

I'd like to read it too, hope you find it BK.

Yup, Frankie braved Erica's wrath to make sure that Bianca was safe. Maggie could never be Frankie.

Apparently, I have a lot of unresolved anger about this incident as well, I was yelling at my screen too.

Hmm, I think I know where I can find a transcript.

God, Greenlee is so annoying me. Saying "It's all her fault!" when she was badgering Kendall about the fake baby? Ugh. Props to Simone for bailing on the lynch mob.

And also whose fault it is that she doesn't have any friends if she turns on them at the drop of a hat?

I hate Erica's purple satin party dress with the pink bow. It's too little-girlish and totally inappropriate for testifying in court.

Boobe and Boobe Sr. bore me to tears. The paternity test-switching is beyond stupid (the guy is a pilot, not a doctor!) and I hate Krystal with Tad.
Black Knight
What's the line from A Streetcar Named Desire? "Deliberate cruelty is the only unforgivable thing." Yeah, I've always believed that. And it so applies to Maggie's behavior. (My own link to the transcript site I'm thinking about is on my hard drive at home, so I have to wait until tonight to look. If someone else can find it in the meantime, go for it. And imagine every line of Maggie's said in the nastiest voice possible, while poor Bianca is just so confused and very, very apologetic. Until the end, when she finally got nasty too--yay!)

On a cheerier note...
Kendall just glows around Bianca and it's damn nice to see Kendall truly happy and secure about someone loving her.

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. I loved that even though Kendall broke away from Frankenbrow to supposedly "go check in on poor stressed kid sister", it was Bianca who was making Kendall laugh the next time we saw them. That's as it should be, given Kendall's on trial for her life and all. Bianca knows how to handle her (ahem), and Kendall just seems happier around Bianca--as you say, she glows (ahem again).

And I would love to know what Eden and Alicia were actually talking about--they were in the background, so they wouldn't have been spouting dialogue, they would have just been chatting. SOD, give us a joint interview, dammit!

What a shock. Did they have up the scene immediately beforehand, when Bianca's about to lean in and kiss Maggie?

I don't have the mag here, but I'll see if I can post some highlights when I get a chance.

That would rock. Thanks, muchly.

Champagne Incident aside, Maggie got on my last damn nerve when she threatened to leave town every other day. Bianca had the patience of a damn saint. I'd have told the bitch to just go already. The last of my Maggie like died when she reemed Binks out over being pissy to Trey, who Maggie had known for all of two seconds. Maggie was a shitty friend in many, many ways.
TartnotSweet
Every few days, I notice a writer named "Chip Hayes" in the credits. My secret fantasy is that he is Pervy. Whenever I see his name in the credits I get all giddy and hopeful for some great Pervy moments. With a name like that, I figure he's either Pervy or a stripper moonlighting as a soap opera writer.

Great minds think alike! I could give two damns about Kinks ( a combination of residual Bianca disdain and no eye for picking up non-verbal cues) but I did catch Monsieur Hayes in the credits recently and I remember thinking "Hmm.... haven't seen that name before, maybe he's responsible for the subtext TWOPpers pick up on." Or I could be wrong and he could just be the dude who writes all of Babe and Krystal's cornpone dialogue.

I was planning to mention it yesterday, but was it just me or was most of Ryan's testimony hearsay? "Well when I was skulking around in the bushes I thought I heard Mr. Devane accusing Dr. Hayward of poisoning Michael Cambias, etc, etc" Singer ( who grows on me a little more each episode. I love his humourless smirk) should have been objecting his ass off.
CKD
No, BK : none of it was avaible, but just about everything else was. When I started the AGR, I didn't know who any of the characters were but had, interestingly, heard about the BAMmers. I decided to "school" myself and read/watched as much Baggie stuff as I could find. I read all the transcripts - by the way, those who want to read the Champagne Incident suff: go to the TV Megasite and do a search by date - and the only vid I could not find was that one. Maybe they took it down for, erm, space .

ETA: TartnotSweet : you're right about Ryan's testimony. I can't imagine it would have been allowed under the "excitable utterance" exception to the hearsay rule, so I assume it got in the same way all the other legal stuff gets on AMC: a donkey wrote it.
Black Knight
TartnotSweet, yes, most of Ryan's testimony should never have been allowed. Hearsay hearsay hearsay. AMC did at least have Singer object, and Livia make a bullshit justification that the prosecution had opened the door, and the judge ruling that Ryan could carry on. So this trial is continuing in its pattern so far of not being legally correct (duh), but at least making more of a nod in that direction than the average soap trial. I suffered through Erica's trial for murdering Frankie, and the Alcazar murder trial on GH, and this current trial is L&O in comparison to those.

CKD, frankly I thought the worst part came a couple of weeks after the Champagne Incident, when Maggie showed up in court for Binks's sentencing hearing, and Bianca thanked her for showing up (it was the first time they'd seen each other since that night). And then got kicked in the teeth again when Maggie bitchily told her that she was only there because the prosecution had called her, or something.

That was really the start of Bianca's stint in C-plot hell. She'd been featured quite a bit up to then, what with her relationship with Frankie and the murder trial and forming a relationship with Kendall. But the Champagne Incident destroyed the Bianca/Kendall bonding, and Bianca turned into a wimp and plot parasite for all the intervening months until FEM began.

I had competely forgotten about this until just now. I remember now, Bianca sweetly thanked her (Bianca is way too nice, I would have been pissed at Maggie and not said a word to the bitch) for coming and Maggie huffs and puffs and says that she was only there because they made her. What. an. ass.

Liz went to Syracuse, before transferring to Fordham in NYC. She's currently on leave from there.

Stewie, thanks for the information. You wouldn't happen to know what she was studying, do you?

On another site, I found and watched every single BAM scene. What was the missing clip? The Champagne Incident. Gee, I wonder why?

Why indeed.

I haven't seen much of the pre-FEM BAM scenes mainly because I came late to the party, but I was under the distinct impression (from lurking on that other site) that Maggie could really do no wrong to Bianca. So, while my preference is the Lena and Bianca pairing, I gave the BAM pairing a certain amount of the benefit of the doubt. Now that I'm hearing all this crap that Maggie put Bianca through, I think I'm scared to even lurk over there... very scared.

Curious though, did Bianca and Maggie ever discuss that Champagne Incident? How did they reconcile their friendship after that incident in order to become best friends now? Or, was that another TZ moment?
fearless
Ok, I found it. Bianca shows up at Maggie's room at the PV Inn with two bottles of champagne.

Bianca: Hi.
Maggie: Hey.
Bianca: Are you alone?
Maggie: Yeah.
Bianca: Well, it's kind of weird, right? I mean, today?
Maggie: Frankie's birthday. Come in.
Bianca: Oh, thanks.
Maggie: You know, I've been playing "what if" since sunup.
Bianca: Right. Well, we can't will Frankie back, but sort of feels like she's here sometimes, right?
Maggie: Yeah, sometimes. Can't wait for this day to be over.
Bianca: No way. Come on, it's your birthday, too. Let's celebrate.
.
Bianca: Is it me, or did this go awfully fast?
Maggie: Well, today is a very special day. And the one thing Frankie loved was a party!
Bianca: Oh, God. We should eat something.
Maggie: Oh, no, you're not sick. The bathroom's back there.
Bianca: I'm not sick, and I don't want to be sick, ok? For you.
[Bianca gives Maggie a cupcake with one candle in it]
Maggie: Aw. Bianca: I brought another
one. [candle] I was hoping that you wouldn't think it was too creepy.
Maggie: Oh, you brought one for Frankie, too.
Bianca: Yeah, because, you know, sometimes it's like she's still here.
Maggie: Yeah. Definitely put it in.
Bianca: I'm glad you don't think it's too weird.
Maggie: Hello. Who are you talking to? My family defines dysfunction. Mmm.
Bianca: Make a wish.
Maggie: Like that'll work.
Bianca: Oh, my God, are you channeling Frankie? She s really anti-wish, too.
Maggie: Bianca, we're realists. Come on. Wishing doesn't get you anywhere in our family, you know, and begging doesn't, either. Fighting works sometimes, but, well, running -- running works the best.
Bianca: Well, I got Frankie to wish.
Maggie: Sure, but did it work?
Bianca: Yeah. Yeah, we both got our wish for a little while. So, come on. Live dangerously. Just make a wish.

Bianca: Open your present.
Bianca: I didn't know what else to get you.
[The gift is a picture of Frankie and Bianca in a frame]
Maggie: Thank you.
Bianca: It must be like looking in a mirror, huh?
Maggie: No. Frankie and I were completely different. Ah, Frankie was lucky, Bianca -- in spite of everything that happened.
Bianca: How?
Maggie: She had you.
Bianca: No. I was the lucky one. I'm never going to get used to missing her and feeling like she's still right here.
Maggie: I guess that's what love does.

[Bianca strokes Maggie’s face – Maggie jumps back in disgust]
Maggie: What are you doing?
Bianca: I -- I --
Maggie: Well, don't!
Bianca: Um -- so, what's wrong?
Maggie: I -- I’m not gay. I thought you knew that, Bianca.
Bianca: No, that's -- that's not it. I -- um -- you just -- you --
Maggie: I what? What did you think?
Bianca: Nothing, nothing! I -- you just look so much like Frankie.

Bianca: Look, I’m -- I’m not used to the alcohol, ok? I just -- I mean, the bottle's --
Maggie: Oh, so, "I get drunk and I don't remember a thing?" That's so lame, Bianca!
Bianca: That's not what I’m saying, ok?
Maggie: Ok, forget it, then.
Bianca: Look, I thought that we were friends --
Maggie: Well, whatever you forgot -- oh, just forget it! I don't -- I don't go that way!
Bianca: That's not what I’m saying. I -- I don't do that. I don't force --
Maggie: Oh, whatever, Bianca.
Bianca: Look, we were both missing Frankie just now, and I guess that I just --
Maggie: Oh, the emotional bond that you had with my sister -- yeah, that's great. So spiritual. Is that why you came here to party?
Bianca: Why are you saying these things?
Maggie: You know, I don't -- I don't even like my birthday. You know, Frankie didn't, either. I was just going along for the ride, so you know what? Why don't you just --
Bianca: What, you're going to kick me out now?
Maggie: Yeah, I am! Just go! Go on, get out!
Bianca: Fine. Fine. But you know what? This is your mistake, ok? I wouldn't try to --
Maggie: What, to kiss me? Oh, you're trying to kiss Frankie, that's it! Ugh!
Bianca: Fine. Look, I’m sorry.
Maggie: Whatever.
Bianca: Before she died, I was going to make a big deal about Frankie’s birthday, ok? She told me that you never had one when you were growing up
Maggie: Well, you know what? She's not here!
Bianca: Ok! I understand! I get it, all right? You're not her! I get it! You're not her! You're nothing like her!
Maggie: That's what I keep trying to tell you!
Bianca: Fine, fine, fine. I was trying to be friends with you, for her sake, ok? But I just --
Maggie: Well, forget it! Good, forget it and just go and stay out of my face!
Bianca: Don't tell me to go. I get it, ok? You got your wish! You'll never have to see me again!
Black Knight
InTheRye, after the courtroom hearing scene already discussed, Bianca later ran into Maggie at the hospital. She had briefly discovered her spine, so she told Maggie that if she kept going the way she was, she was going to wind up all alone. Yay. Maggie was all freaked at the idea that no one was currently speaking to her or liked her (she'd just had a big fight with David before running into Bianca, because David had had the unmitigated gall to sign her up for a class that Maggie needed to take that was filling up very quickly--the horror, right?--and David had basically told her off as well).

After that, Maggie ran into Bianca at BJ's. Some girls (that year's class of Obligatory School Bitches) were being rude to Bianca and Maggie showed up and chased them off. (rolling eyes) Bianca thanked Maggie, Maggie said some friendly things, they briefly discussed the Champagne Incident--I don't remember Maggie apologizing, and I think Bianca apologized some more--and they agreed to be friends. Then they decided to go to prom together. It was all reeeeeeaaaallly glossed over--I got the impression AMC had realized they'd made a big mistake with the Champagne Incident, and that Bianca was the only reason that anyone cared about seeing Liz Hendrickson onscreen, and so they had to get Maggie back in Bianca's orbit fast. Whatever. So the BAM friendship started, and they ended up going to prom with JR and Borie.

Thanks fearless.

How could anyone push for a Baggie pairing after that? At least Maggie's acting true to character lately. The character should have disappeared off the canvas months ago.

I still think the worst thing McTavish did for Eden's Oscar chances was to have Elizabeth making the goldfish face in the scenes where Bianca told about the rape. Those same scenes with Alicia or even Rebecca would have been awesome. I suppose that McTavish knew the audience would never believe that either Kendall or Greenlee would keep Bianca's rape a secret, since it would obviously be in Bianca's best interests to at least tell Erica, while coming from such a weak shallow character as Maggie, it's at least semi-believable that she would keep such a harmful secret because she didn't have the strength of character to deal with Bianca being mad at her for telling.
CKD
Yup, that clip - Maggie saves Bianca from Big Bad High School Assholes - was mysteriously available. *cough* I don't think any of them are up anymore though.

Damn, just re-reading that clip makes me want to smack Maggie into the next town. Stupid freak.
SkiffyPup
You said Oscar. Hee!

Word to the fishface. Guppy shots. So not compelling. I cannot imagine being interested in seeing these old scenes, except as research. Even when I see caps of the postrape scenes, I notice Eden's dynamic expression and the guppy's ... you know. I have seen enough Maggie to last me a lifetime of yawning. Eden better be careful, or she'll be letting them have Liz escort her to the backburner again!
Mysticks Muse
Oops. Emmy. That's what I get for goofing off the last hour reading Oscar previews in hopes that LOTR finally wins something. I'm bad, but I didn't want to start another brief before Monday.

Seriously, the one episode that really stands out for me that was just ruined is the one where Bianca is telling Anna about the rape and Maggie just looks...high or something. Here Bianca is telling Anna about this extremely painful thing that happened to her and she's crying (Eden's got the chin quiver goin' on) and I'm distracted by the spaced out look on Maggie's face. She looks like she's off somewhere else or something. It really ruined what would have otherwise been an awesome scene.
Black Knight
I think a lot of it was desperation, Mysticks Muse. As much as I couldn't stand how Maggie had behaved, a couple of months into the BAM friendship I tried to put it out of my mind and support the couple. I just didn't think AMC was going to give Bianca anyone else for a love interest, and I had (and still have) a lingering fondness for Bianca/Frankie.

I still think the worst thing McTavish did for Eden's Oscar chances was to have Elizabeth making the goldfish face in the scenes where Bianca told about the rape.

I doubt it'll matter one way or another. Eden may or may not get the Emmy, but it won't be because of who was opposite her in that scene. There are certainly times when it does make a difference, but the focus is so entirely on Bianca/Eden in that scene that it doesn't matter. It's essentially a long monologue with a couple of brief reaction shots and a couple of lines from Liz.

I think the biggest reason why, from a writing point of view, that it had to be Maggie was because Bianca wouldn't have talked on that level of detail to anyone else. Not because of some particularly strong bond or trust, but because she actually didn't care all that much what Maggie thought, nor was she particularly worried about protecting Maggie's feelings, so she didn't have that additional pressure. She would never have told Lena or Erica, for instance, that she had wished she was dead. She did tell Jack that, largely because she wanted to hurt him. (She might've told Kendall for the same reason, back when she had some misguided anger towards Kendall over what had happened, but that window is past now.) And most of the possible other characters would've been injecting and interrupting long before Bianca was finished, and just generally destroying the flow of her monologue.
fearless

Yeah, you're right. It was desperation. I never, ever thought they would bring someone on for Bianca that was mature and sure of her sexuality, so I pretty much went with Maggie, since she was the only option. Olga came and changed all of that for me, though.

Black Knight, I agree with you about why Bianca chose Maggie to tell about the rape. They hadn't been that close since January, so it wasn't because they were the bestest of best friends like they are now, so I always thought that it was because she didn't feel pressured to worry about how Maggie would react. Maggie would just listen and not judge. Maggie didn't have all of the rape baggage that Erica and Kendall did and she didn't have any intimacy issues with Maggie like she did with Lena. Lena was her lover so it would make sense not to feel comfortable telling her about the rape. Maggie was the logical choice.
Mystic0
Yeah, I agree the Magster was the best choice for all varied reasons listed. No way would Bianca have made it past the first sentence if it had been Kendall, Erica or Lena. They'd become unhinged and Kendall, in particular, probably would have hit the door and went looking to kill the bastard immediately.

But if we had to recast that scene, my wildcard would have been Greenlee. I know there would be no reason for Binks to open up to Greens but a lot of why Maggie got clued in was just timing. If Binks hadn't been hung-over and weary (and on the verge of losing it altogether) Maggie wouldn't have been told either. Ok, I really have no good argument for choosing Greenlee. It's just too tempting to want to see how someone that emotionally stunted and socially retarded, would have handled things. Totally nonsense SL wise but I'd liked to have seen Green's reaction and just what she would have done.

(that year's class of Obligatory School Bitches)

Hee! That's so true, they flew in a new batch every year to make Binky's life hell. Now that I think about it, they even followed the Binkster to PVU. Hopefully those days are behind Bianca. Although it would be fun watching Kendall beat this year's Shannon (wasn't that the head bitch's name?) down. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

That makes perfect sense.

fearless, thanks for the script.

Maggie: I -- I’m not gay. I thought you knew that, Bianca.

See? This is just another reason why I cannot stand the triangle pimping from that certain fanbase. How many times does Maggie need to declare her heterosexuality? I'm fairly confident that all this triangle talk is nothing but emotional/jealousy on Maggie's part... but if TPTB do go off course and take the romantic route, I'd rather gouge my eyes out that watch. That said, February should be interesting.
Black Knight
If Binks hadn't been hung-over and weary (and on the verge of losing it altogether) Maggie wouldn't have been told either.

Yeah, I agree. Maggie knows because #1, Bianca got drunk and Maggie happened to be the one there when Bianca was drunkenly mumbling, and #2, she stood in front of the door when Bianca tried to leave, which sent Bianca off the deep end. Erica knows too for much the same reason--the storm freaked Bianca out, she flashed back, told Erica when she was not at all in her right mind. Same thing happened with Kendall--she almost told Kendall when highly excited and angry and jittery because Kendall had grabbed her arm.

Now if Bianca had been able to talk about the rape for the first time while in a reasonably sane state of mind, it most likely would've been Myrtle.

Greenlee listening? Ohhhhh boy. Actually, I would've been worried that AMC would use it as an excuse to change Greenlee into a saint.

ETA:
How many times does Maggie need to declare her heterosexuality?

Actually, at that particular point, it was rather easy to see it as gay panic. The problem was that Maggie was so unbelievably cruel and nasty to Bianca. The transcript gives a sense of that, but you really have to see the scenes and how Liz and Eden played it to get the full idea. Bianca just looked so damn confused and lost and apologetic, and Maggie was just vicious, vicious, vicious in how she said all her lines. It was like watching a puppy get kicked.

But in later scenes, especially the ones with Henry, to which someone posted the transcripts a while back, AMC really slammed the door shut on Maggie's sexuality for me. In those scenes, Maggie made it clear that if she were gay, she would be with Bianca, that she loved Bianca--just not in that way. And that she wished that she could have been what Bianca was hoping, but she just didn't have those sexual feelings. Very definitive. But that was before McTrash showed up, of course.
bonobochick
Greenlee is pissing me off! I want to reach thru my TV and smack some sense in to her. And don't get me started on Mia. Her stupidity and jealousy are astonshing, not to mention her lack of both loyalty and decency. When Aiden dumps her ass, watch her whine it was Kendall's fault and not her own.

I am really hoping Binks will take control of Fusion and toss all of those self centered delusional bitches back in to the gutter.
fearless

Seriously, Maggie was vicious. And Bianca was trying to apologize and she was all drunk and upset and it really was like watching a puppy get kicked. I felt so bad for her.

That scene is what sealed it for me too. She said she wished that she had felt something sexual for Bianca, but that she didn't and that she felt sexually for Henry "big time". Her words, not mine. I just can't see Maggie wanting to have sex with Bianca. It just wouldn't fly with me. I just don't think that way about those two, it's not believable, especially since Lena came on the scene and show us what it looked like to have woman really desire Bianca, in every way.
2deadcows
...so I assume it got in the same way all the other legal stuff gets on AMC: a donkey wrote it.

Bwah!, CKD. But I don't think it's just the legal stuff. Don't let it be said that AMC isn't all about 'equal opportunity' -- jackasses brainstorm plots and monkeys fill in the details.

It's gotten to the point where I dread seeing Greenlee on my screen because I just know she'll do something unforgivably stupid and self-destructive. Why is McHack so hell-bent on destroying my favorite characters?

Folks, I need your help.

I accidentally tuned in to AMC for the last couple of days after not having watched AT ALL in ages, and I have some questions...

A) Livia's back, but where are Tom and the rest of her family?

B) I thought Michael was dead, so why was he having drinks with Ryan in Kendall's house (at least, I think that was Kendall's house they were in)? Incidentally, I thought Michael was hot, so I really wouldn't mind it if he actually was back on the show.

C) What happened to Brooke's daughter Laura? Is she still on the show?
SkiffyPup

Oh, and in an effort to avoid PToS, I'd like to add that I really wanted Rebecca to take that tan coat off so I could oogle her in that tight red dress. (Mute button in hand.) And Franken's suit ensemble and coat was fantastic.

rumors from Eden's board via some amc site I can't recall right now:

Wil deVry (Michael) is off to the west coast and the show is not pursuing trying to keep him in any way.

Nothing confirmed yet but it looks like Mia may be on the chopping block.

Next week, we find out who killed Michael

The JR/Babe/Jamie story has months left in it. Looks like Jacob Young (JR) will be around awhile.

Some major romance on the menu next month for Bianca and Lena.

No Dixie recast.
Queen B
I kinda liked the little Tad/Liza flashbacks today, but it would've been more fun to hear some of the dialogue. And then they wreck it by cutting to Tad with mom of Boobe. I don't necessarily like Tad and Liza together, but things were still ruined by cutting away to him with her.
Black Knight
A) Livia's back, but where are Tom and the rest of her family?

Tonya Pinkins has said that the last time Livia was on, she was referred to as Livia Frye Cudahy, but that this time around her character name is simply Livia Frye, and that that's all she knows. We will be seeing Danielle Frye soon, though, and she will be paired with Reggie.

C) What happened to Brooke's daughter Laura? Is she still on the show?

Laura accepted that Leo wanted a divorce so he could be with Greenlee, and left town. She did not return for Brooke's wedding to Edmund, but I don't remember what the excuse given was.

And SkiffyPup answered B already.

I really hope the rumor about Mia being on her way out is true. There could be some credence to it--we know that Mia comes across where Aidan's stashed the reverend, and if she turns him over to the DA, I don't see any way that Aidan's not going to dump her ass. And at that point, what reason is there to keep her on the show? Who else is there to pair her with? And Fusion is basically dead whether Bianca actually shuts the place down or not. Time to dump her.
Mysticks Muse
Do y'all mean these scenes?

2/17/03:
Henry: Because you're gay.
Maggie: Oh. So that's what's been going on with you?
Henry: Hey, you know, whatever you and Bianca are into, it's no big deal.
Maggie: If I were Bianca’s lover, I would not be ashamed. Bianca happens to be a great person. A great person. I have done a lot worse -- believe me, a lot worse -- and Bianca and I are just friends.
Henry: It's really ok.
Maggie: No, it is ok. But there's nothing going on. We're just friends. There's nothing -- believe what you want to believe. You know, I really don't care. But I'm not gay.
Henry: Ok. You're not?
Maggie: Not that it matters.
Henry: Right.
Maggie: You know, and I've seen how people have treated her. I mean, I've felt it spill over me, but I've learned that people in this world are really, really stupid, and we don't have to let that affect us.
Henry: Right.
Maggie: And you know, who really cares what people think about us and how we work with each other? I mean, all that matters is how we feel about us.

4/4/03:
Henry: You opened up to Bianca. You're close with her. I mean, when I first met you, I thought you were her lover.
Maggie: Bianca was just Frankie’s girlfriend when I first met her. You know? I mean -- I didn't know my sister was gay until after she passed away. Frankie was gone, I came here, and I looked just like her. Bianca was drawn to me. Naturally, right? And I was curious about her, about Frankie. And I wanted to know about her, about her life, and Bianca was closest with her.
Henry: And you never considered --
Maggie: No, I did. I considered it. Bianca was the first person who ever really got to know me, the real me. You know, I mean, she knew about my dreams and my fears. And I learned about her, too, and it was amazing. It was great. I mean, it was scary to get to know someone like that. Frankie left me this incredible gift.
Henry: So, what happened?
Maggie: Ultimately, I wasn't who Bianca needed me to be.
Henry: Frankie?
Maggie: No, I wasn't gay.
Henry: Well, that must have been hard -- for both of you.
Maggie: It was like hitting a wall of truth. Because I had feelings for her. I won't deny that I did. They just weren't sexual.
Henry: And this is? I mean, what you have for me.
Maggie: Bigtime. And you know what? Right now, right here, everything is perfect with you. Because I can be -- I can just be me. You'll accept me for that.

Yup, those are the ones, Mysticks Muse. Liz played the January boathouse scenes in an ambiguous enough way to leave the door open, even though Maggie said she was into guys, and I remember us commenting on this board at the time about how if AMC wanted straight-Maggie to work, they needed to get to Liz because she was acting like a jilted girlfriend or something in the scenes that were supposedly to clarify Maggie's sexuality once and for all.

But after Lianca really got going, we got the above scenes with Henry, and Liz stopped playing subtext. Eden, OTOH, had dropped the subtext as soon as the January scenes aired, something for which I was always grateful. I figure she was as sick as I was of playing unrequited love/desire--she implied as much in an interview at the time.

I just can't see Maggie wanting to have sex with Bianca. It just wouldn't fly with me.

Yeah, exactly, especially in light of the Maggie/Henry scenes and Bianca's good looks. I know denial can be powerful, I've been there myself, but I'm really expected to believe that after all this time Maggie still wouldn't know one way or another if she has any sexual feelings for Bianca? Or I'm to believe that she's just suddenly developed sexual feelings for Bianca out of thin air? Please. If Bianca had been doing the ugly-duckling thing all this time and just suddenly turned into a swan, perhaps I'd buy it, but remember the bikini Bianca wore once in an ep with Maggie? (Someone posted a pic of it here once. I remember the prudish AOL board complaining over that ep, and Eden's rack. Snerk.)

They complained? They complained about Eden's gorgeous rack? Now, THAT is the very definition of freak. Was it a general AOL board, or Eden's forum specifically?

If a romantic Lena/Bianca/Maggie "triangle" does happen, I expect a retcon. Maggie will tell Bianca that all during her relationship with Henry, and during their separation, from January to Voldemort, she was thinking of Bianca, still had "confusing" feelings for/about her, blah, blah, blah. . .retconcakes, but didn't pursue those feelings because she did in fact have feelings for Henry, too and Bianca had Lena, all was well, blah, blah, blah. . .bigolecrockofshitcakes.

Unbe-fuckin'-lievable is what it is. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Hate the Earth and everything on it, but you've gotta love the Rack-O-SORAS. Sheesh.

It was the AOL AMC General Discussion board. They objected because they felt it wasn't appropriate for Bianca to be wearing such a revealing bikini. Maggie was in a more subdued one-piece suit, IIRC, that was deemed much more appropriate.

You have to remember this is the place where, when Eden and Olga did their View interview, one poster said that he immediately got down on his knees and prayed the entire hour for their souls. And only one other poster spoke up and said that was freaky. Yeah. (In all fairness, I checked back last summer and Lianca seemed to have become quite popular.)

Congrats, onewomanshow, on your Loyal Viewer status.

Having watched today's show, a couple of comments:
Simone did redeem herself somewhat. As soon as someone, I forget who, mentioned the point about the pregnancy being part of Kendall's defense strategy, Simone changed her tune. "Group grope"--hee, Kendall. Being trisexual is tough sometimes, huh?

Whoever Kendall is protecting, that she knows Bianca saw, it's certainly not Erica. Otherwise Kendall would have thrown a fit over Erica incriminating herself on the stand, instead of just being all happy and moved over it. We've seen time and again that Kendall spazzes at the mere mention of Bianca as a suspect. But Kendall clearly knows Erica didn't kill Michael, which means she must know who did. And there is no one besides Erica and Bianca that Kendall would cover for. I still think the silhouette Bianca saw was Kendall's own, but we'll see.

I would've been rather impressed with Erica's performance on the stand if she hadn't been in that godawful purple satin thing with the pink bow. Good lord. Silly me, here I thought she would change into something more appropriate for her testimony.

I know there are all kinds of legal inaccuracies going on with the witnesses, but I'm just really amused at Exeter's face every time a witness screws him over. But then again, he's being naive to think that the defendant's boyfriend, mother, and so on aren't going to do their best to protect her on the stand. At the rate Livia's going, she could probably get a dismissal of charges once the prosecution rests its case. That means things are going a little too well for Kendall and it should all be blowing up shortly. Gee, I wonder who will cause the trouble? (glaring at the remaining Two Fusion Trolls)

I'm completely pathetic, but I rewatched the Kendall/Bianca/Reggie background stuff from yesterday's ep again, trying to figure out what they were saying, and I did figure out the first bit. After the initial laughter, Alicia told MBJ not to look at them, and MBJ turned away. Then Alicia and Eden started chatting. Now I really wish I knew what they were talking about. But Eden's face is turned away from the camera, so it's pretty much impossible. Damn.

Can someone recap the attempt to grope Kendall for me? I missed that first bit. I gathered that Erica joined the fun, and won the game of touch the belly but I'm just interested in knowing how it played out.

Mia is such an idiot. Gah! Could she be more gullible? When the Divine Mr. Devane drops her sorry ass, because you know he's going to, I will be doing a happy dance.

Krystal. Boobe. GO AWAY!!!!! moving on...

I did like MEK's angry scenes today.

I liked the Tad/Liza flashbacks too, and I agree that I would have liked some dialogue. I guess that was a precursor to our Tad the Cad weekend.

When I was first trying to suss out if I wanted to watch AMC or not, I actually thought that BAM was the reality. I took a while for me to catch on that it wasn't. After all this backstory, I don't see how BAM could be an option at all, but then our friend Continuity can currently be found in the room next to Edmund.

I think I have a Barbie outfit like what Erica had on today. No, really. She was ridiculous, but I did like the little Don't fuck with me shake of the hair towards Tarzan.

I'd like to volunteer to slap Greenlee. But only if she takes her coat off first.

Jack is such a Livia fan girl. He's sitting there thinking "Maybe if I did my hair like Livia, I'd be a wicked smart lawyer too. How does she do it?"

Nothing confirmed yet but it looks like Mia may be on the chopping block.

It's about fucking time! Though, I may miss making moron jokes and poking general fun at her. The same way I miss Borie.

This is relevant to comment on:
what reason is there to keep her on the show? Who else is there to pair her with?

Exactly. She's fucking slept with everyone and she's more useless than a condom at a lesbian whorehouse. Time for her to GO.

Laura accepted that Leo wanted a divorce so he could be with Greenlee, and left town. She did not return for Brooke's wedding to Edmund, but I don't remember what the excuse given was.

I don't remember either but I remember they mentioned Laura because they'd had her send some skeevy ridiculous wedding gift. Hold on, lemme look it up. I remember it getting mentioned in the recap...

Okay, here it is: "There’s a 'something new' gift from Laura– a stick-on heart tattoo for Brooke to 'put someplace that’ll surprise Edmund.' Jeesh. Can’t I go one day without having to think about those two having sex?"
KerleyQ
When Greenlee first came on the show, I used to be so annoyed by her. She was such a one note villain. Then RB really added in the layers, and I loved her. Now it's like we're back to the one note bad girl. I know Fusion is so important to her, blah blah blah. But, she cared about Kendall, and even if she thinks Kendall is "stealing" the company from her, she wouldn't want to see her fry for killing Michael. Yeah, you know she's faking the pregnancy, but it's also what may keep her from being convicted. Let the trial go on and worry about exposing her once she's been acquitted.

Erica and Kendall made me all sappy today. I'm really starting to buy that Erica does love Kendall. Although I am wondering when she's going to put the pieces together now. She definitely knows Kendall's not pregnant, yet the pregnancy test was positive, and Kendall is SO sure the DNA test will show the baby's Michael's. Do the math, Erica. I know it's too much to hope for, but I would love if, in the interest of character growth, Erica's reaction was more in line with how Jack acted when he figured it out. But, I'm sure McTrash will opt for making her look like a huge selfish bitch about the whole thing. "Get me fired will she?"

ETA: Mia--Shut the fuck up! Is it too much to ask for her to meet Paul Cramer, decide he's cute, follow him to Llanview and have an unfortunate encounter with the Music Box Killer??

Can someone recap the attempt to grope Kendall for me? I missed that first bit. I gathered that Erica joined the fun, and won the game of touch the belly but I'm just interested in knowing how it played out.

Kendall refused to let Greenlee, Mia, and Simone touch her belly on the basis that she doesn't like to be touched. Greens and Mia hammered the theme of Kendall faking her pregnancy, someone mentioned the importance of it to her defense strategy. At that point Simone started trying to get G&M to back off. G&M tried the tack that if Kendall just proved her pregnancy to them, then she would have their support. Kendall pointed out she has no reason to trust them. Erica showed up and Kendall told her that she was cornered and they wouldn't let her leave. Erica had a great bit of snark: "Is a courthouse really the best place to hold someone hostage against her will?" Simone piped up again that she was against all this. Kendall commented something fairly bitchy about Simone being the voice of reason, but fortunately Simone didn't take offense. Erica stated she didn't want to be any part of it, Simone said the same.

Then Greenlee started hitting the theme with Erica of how knowing Kendall was a liar would be better than her being pregnant with Michael's baby. Erica seemed to react to that, while Kendall looked guilty. G&M pointed out that Kendall won't let them touch her belly. Kendall re-stated her objection to being touched. Erica moved towards Kendall and told her that G&M had a point, because when she was pregnant with Bianca, she never minded friends touching her belly. Kendall rightly pointed out that she didn't see any friends in the room. Finally Erica beat Kendall down into agreeing to let her belly be touched. Greenlee made a grab and that's when Kendall busted out her line about not being up for a group grope. There was some more arguing because Kendall said she didn't trust G&M to tell the truth that she was pregnant even if she let either of them touch her belly. So Erica broke the stalemate by asking if Kendall and G&M both would trust her to tell the truth. Everyone agreed, Erica touched Kendall's belly, and then did the huffy act of "how dare you be pregnant with his child?" etc. to throw off G&M.
