READ BEFORE POSTING:

This is not a fan site. While it's fine to be a fan, it's not a requirement to be one to post here. A diversity of opinions is welcome here. Fan fights and pissing contests are right out.

The topic in here is Adam. Not you, or other Idols, or random fans/detractors. If you post a Tweet or blog excerpt, it should be used to talk about Adam. Just posting some fan's amusing comment about Adam isn't enough; use it to discuss the topic.

Most importantly, please read the Rules & Announcements thread, especially the second post. This is supposed to be a good place for everyone--not just the fans--to post.

Wish I could hear the Adam/Kris/Kara conversation behind Randy and Matt. That reminds me, where does one look at the Idol Extra interviews, where they show the clip of the contestants talking about the bootee? I love those clips. Sweetest things ever.

Ah! Towards the end Kris clearly says "National Enquirer" with quote fingers! Am I going crazy? I mean, I figured they had heard of it but to hear him mention in a convo with Kara and Adam, damn I want a transcript. It kinda looks like Kara is comparing Adam and Kris by her hand motioning.

I've watched that video a couple of times and Adam definitely says something about them being roomates and then him and Kris both say "we're feuding," followed by Kris doing the air quotes around "national enquirer."

And add me to those of you furious by the judges' refusal to acknowledge his amazing vocals or display any indignation to him being in the bottom three.
Oh and feeling good studio is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard.

He was bottom 2 or whatever after Satisfaction, RoF and FG.

He was number one after Satisfaction, no? That's how he made F13.

It is very, very fortunate that Adam will get two songs next week. Once BSC rock-out, one power ballad. No compromises. Trust your instincts, dear.

There’s a musical called [title of show], about these guys that write a musical. You probably haven’t heard of it. Adam probably has. Anyway, these guys have to decide whether to appeal to the masses or write what they believe in. There’s a great line from a song totally applies to Adam’s strategy this week: “I’d rather be nine people’s favorite thing than 100 people’s ninth favorite thing.”

Think about that one. No compromises, no regrets. If you lose after that, you still win. And also, you won’t lose.

babyshark58, I wouldn't include Satisfaction since that was only for suspense bullshit (they put Danny and Tatiana in the same position as Adam and Norman; they couldn't have been punishing Danny as well, now could they?). I can agree with RoF and FG because from what I've gathered from casual viewers online and In Real Life, those performances were either "gay" or made Adam "look gay."

No, he wasn't. It was semi-finals group 2, when he ended up the top vote getter and sailed to the Top 13. Him grouped with Norman was just a lame attempt at "suspense" on TPTB's part, both were the polarising/theatrical ones in that group.

I couldn't make anything out! But Kris clearly rolled his eyes when he figured out Adam was The Huff and that he'd have to choose between those two groups. The one with Kris in it was obviously the bottom, so Adam would have to choose against him if he were to be honest. It makes me think that Adam and Kris both thought Adam got The Huff because of their so-called "fued." That's what I'm thinking, anyway.

It's funny but I had a premonition going into last night's show that Adam would be in the bottom so it was surreal watching it play out. Never for a second did I think he'd actually go home, though. If he was really in trouble, Paula would've needed an IV drip of Xanax and a NASA diaper just to get through it.

And let me tell ya, having him seem that close to elimination was the best thing that could've happened to Adam. He no longer appears to be the frontrunner, taking a lot of heat off of him, yet his fanbase will be fired up. Better this happen now than later.

Next week is rock week and, come ON, he will kick all kinds of ass. It'll be orgasmic. Not worried at all for Adam.

He was bottom 2 or whatever after Satisfaction, RoF and FG. What other motives could TPTB have? They're punishing him in each instance for daring to step out of the AI comfort zone.

What? I don't remember him ever being in the bottom at all before. If he were in the bottom after "Satisfaction," then he wouldn't have made it past the semifinals at all. He wasn't in the bottom after "Ring of Fire," either.

Well, thanks to the producer's manipulations I can tell you that I will no longer be splitting my votes between Adam and Allison and even Kris. They now ALL go to Adam (sorry Allison, I love you gal, but I gotta support my boy), and for the entire two hours to boot.

Wait, maybe that's what they want ......all of us to vote non-stop for two hours.
Exactly. This may be getting Knollish, but since it only relates to Adam I think it's relevant here. I could conceivably believe that Adam came in third/fourth in votes last night, mostly because Allison and Kris are still around, but I am always suspect of the phrase "your bottom #" because Ryan could talk his way out of that if it ever became necessary. As I wrote previously, I think they want Adam to win, and he will have the best chance of winning against Gokey because he will most likely pickup votes from Kris and Allison fans. He probably would not pick up votes from most Gokey fans.

The Anti-Huff was actually kind of brilliant on their part. First off, Adam came off looking like a great guy, which has never happened with a Huff before. By placing him in the bottom group, nearly everyone is talking about the outrage of him being there, rather than the usual arrogant/douchey/stupid/perjorative that normally gets applied to the person who has to choose. They overshadowed the move with Adam being declared in danger. Second, Kris' first appearance in the bottom was completely drowned out by Adam's so he doesn't get the same "bounce" in votes that Adam does but he does get kinda subconciously seen as being a "loser." Third, Allison in the top 2 allows for complacency. The people who hate and see Adam as arrogant would have continued to hate him whether he picked a side or not, whether he was the Huff or not. Voters with strong opinions on contestants don't change those opinions this late in the game. Building up the breadth vs. depth of his fanbase was done entirely for the casual voters and vote splitters, because as much as I think Adam is far and above the most deserving winner, I can easily see where he wouldn't be getting as many votes as Danny on a week to week basis.

If so, did they have the B3 just to include Adam? Also, is it just me or is the B2 Adam phenomenon overshadowing Matt's anticipated elimination? Kind of shows how ridiculous Adam being in the B2 seems...
Yes, yes and yes. AI gets press, Adam's fans get whipped into a voting frenzy, tips the casual fan towards voting, and TPTB get what they want.

I thought Simon was way too chipper last night for Adam to be leaving. Considering that he ususally salivates dollar signs in Adam's presence, it seemed like a good sign that that he wasn't out but there was going to be some massive fuckery going on. As shitty and humiliating as it must have been for Adam (along with the rest of them, it really was awful), this "scare" may be what secures him in the finals.
The weirdest part for me was how calm Simon was over Adam being in the bottom 2. Dude didn't even flinch. Paula too. Things that make me go hmmm.
He made one of those inscrutable faces... like the pseudo wink to Cook during last year's finale. Simon totally knew what was going on, and he knew that people would be nutso about the result.

Was Daughtry ever in the bottom 3 before he was the shock boot?
Yes, when there were 7 of them left and Taylor was forced to choose a group. Like Adam, Chris also had a highly rated performance that night.

this is completely different from other Huffs (Melinda, Archie, etc.) in that he didn't know whether he was safe or not, thus he wasn't passing judgment on the worth of anyone else's performances. He wasn't a B3 choosing fellow B3s, or a safe contestant choosing the safe group. He just tried to group himself with the evidence he had to go on: the judges comments.
THIS.

Of course, this may be a sign that they don't want Adam to win, and I could be talking out my ass. YMMV, of course. ETA: I'm dumb

Feeling Good studio version = excellent

Adam being in the bottom 2 last night was my second best TV moment this week right behind UpChuck going home on DWTS. His shock just tells me that he believes everything he reads.

I even think he made the smart move to choose. He would look bad no matter what he decides and choosing side immediately while at the same time saying he loves them all and giving the justification of his choice - he had shown that he is
- honest and not phoney trying to appear the goody2 two shoes
- lack of bullshit
- not a wimpy person that is indecisive
- Able to make informed decision
- Secure and confidence enough to know that he had delivered a good performance esp when you considered the judges feedback and not apologetic to show it
- In good relationship with other contestants that he knows that he would not offend the others to state his opinion

I think he was stupid to choose. Especially as he's watched before. The smart thing would be to say 'I have no idea where I belong because I thought we all did well last night.' End of story. As it is, he just looked like an ass.

As a musical theater hater, I'm not a fan of Adam's performances at all, but I've always seen him as a sweet and modest guy. Last night was the first time he's seemed arrogant to me.

the Huffed contestant has never won

Taylor won. I think that the argument is that TCO is never the Huff.

His shock just tells me that he believes everything he reads.

I didn't see shock. I saw a guy who realized what was going on, let out a "Wooo!" and then applauded the top two. To me, it doesn't exactly compare to Daughtry standing in the bottom 2 with Katharine and completely dismissing the possibility that he could actually go home. Chris was shocked to be in the bottom, but outright stunned that he was eliminated. I liked the guy and am still a fan, but THAT is someone who believed everything that he read.

Adam tugging on his ear is very interesting. It definitely doesn't look like fidgeting or fixing an ear monitor or anything. Instead, he was clearly pulling on his ear and looking directly into the camera. I wonder.

My little fantasy is that Slash was watching last night's show and freaking out at the idea of mentoring an Adam-less Top 4.

So, Gokey blathered on last night about watching performers and what they do and trying to take part of that and get it in his performance, and then Ryan asked, "so you study other performers?" When cakeboi answered, "I have and I'd rather not mention who," did anyone else think he was "not mentioning" Adam?

Just me?

Okay, then.
