Well, thanks to the producer's manipulations I can tell you that I will no longer be splitting my votes between Adam and Allison and even Kris. They now ALL go to Adam (sorry Allison, I love you gal, but I gotta support my boy), and for the entire two hours to boot.
Wait, maybe that's what they want ......all of us to vote non-stop for two hours.
Exactly. This may be getting Knollish, but since it only relates to Adam I think it's relevant here. I could conceivably believe that Adam came in third/fourth in votes last night, mostly because Allison and Kris are still around, but I am always suspect of the phrase "your bottom #" because Ryan could talk his way out of that if it ever became necessary. As I wrote previously, I think they want Adam to win, and he will have the best chance of winning against Gokey because he will most likely pickup votes from Kris and Allison fans. He probably would not pick up votes from most Gokey fans.
The Anti-Huff was actually kind of brilliant on their part. First off, Adam came off looking like a great guy, which has never happened with a Huff before. By placing him in the bottom group, nearly everyone is talking about the outrage of him being there, rather than the usual arrogant/douchey/stupid/perjorative that normally gets applied to the person who has to choose. They overshadowed the move with Adam being declared in danger. Second, Kris' first appearance in the bottom was completely drowned out by Adam's so he doesn't get the same "bounce" in votes that Adam does but he does get kinda subconciously seen as being a "loser." Third, Allison in the top 2 allows for complacency.
The people who hate and see Adam as arrogant would have continued to hate him whether he picked a side or not, whether he was the Huff or not. Voters with strong opinions on contestants don't change those opinions this late in the game. Building up the breadth vs. depth of his fanbase was done entirely for the casual voters and vote splitters, because as much as I think Adam is far and above the most deserving winner, I can easily see where he wouldn't be getting as many votes as Danny on a week to week basis.
If so, did they have the B3 just to include Adam? Also, is it just me or is the B2 Adam phenomenon overshadowing Matt's anticipated elimination? Kind of shows how ridiculous Adam being in the B2 seems...
Yes, yes and yes. AI gets press, Adam's fans get whipped into a voting frenzy, tips the casual fan towards voting, and TPTB get what they want.
I thought Simon was
way too chipper last night for Adam to be leaving. Considering that he ususally salivates dollar signs in Adam's presence, it seemed like a good sign that that he wasn't out but there was going to be some massive fuckery going on. As shitty and humiliating as it must have been for Adam (along with the rest of them, it really was awful), this "scare" may be what secures him in the finals.
The weirdest part for me was how calm Simon was over Adam being in the bottom 2. Dude didn't even flinch. Paula too. Things that make me go hmmm.
He made one of those inscrutable faces... like the pseudo wink to Cook during last year's finale. Simon totally knew what was going on, and he knew that people would be nutso about the result.
Was Daughtry ever in the bottom 3 before he was the shock boot?
Yes, when there were 7 of them left and Taylor was forced to choose a group. Like Adam, Chris also had a highly rated performance that night.
this is completely different from other Huffs (Melinda, Archie, etc.) in that he didn't know whether he was safe or not, thus he wasn't passing judgment on the worth of anyone else's performances. He wasn't a B3 choosing fellow B3s, or a safe contestant choosing the safe group. He just tried to group himself with the evidence he had to go on: the judges comments.
THIS.
Of course, this may be a sign that they don't want Adam to win, and I could be talking out my ass. YMMV, of course.
ETA: I'm dumbFeeling Good studio version = excellent
