READ BEFORE POSTING:

This is not a fan site. While it's fine to be a fan, it's not a requirement to be one to post here. A diversity of opinions is welcome here. Fan fights and pissing contests are right out.

The topic in here is Adam. Not you, or other Idols, or random fans/detractors. If you post a Tweet or blog excerpt, it should be used to talk about Adam. Just posting some fan's amusing comment about Adam isn't enough; use it to discuss the topic.

Most importantly, please read the Rules & Announcements thread, especially the second post. This is supposed to be a good place for everyone--not just the fans--to post.

That said, I thought that fatigue and nerves affected Adam’s performance. Several times he had to fight for the note. Of course, his experience and talent helped him win those fights, but still. Compare the live performance with the rehearsal and you can see that the live was stiffer, less free and open.

Omg. You can compare...Look what I found.

jadedoptimist thanks for sharing that. Love the new interview, Adam looks fantastic. Oh boy, he had to mention RoF again, didn't he? Fourth time and counting. Obviously Simon's critique and the audience response shook him to the core, and he's never. fully. recovered. Or it simply was the game changer, as everyone mentions, so he has to acknowledge it as the moment it was for him, in terms of how to win.

And here's the weekly Miles Siggins on the IICHY outfit. Hmm, jeans and a t-shirt might have been interesting for that:
Top 7: Little Twist
This week was yet another one of those situations where we had a central piece to focus on, that piece being the amazing suit jacket, (that we actually used for the tour photoshoot) from Just Cavalli. The shoulders were incredibly dramatic on it, so with the rest of the outfit we thought we should keep it very classic. Actually, as the song was pretty stripped back and raw, Adam had originally wanted to be very simple, in ripped jeans and a tee, but I managed to persuade him to go this route. Though, in truth, it didn’t take much! The English Laundry tie with the skull and amazing diamond ring from Love and Thorns gave the outfit Adam’s little twist.

Omg! I just went to iTunes and now you can download some of the group numbers (so far, video only). Yeah, I know many find them corny or whatever, but I love them! Adam always looks soooo cute and soooo damn happy, I wanna eat him up like a cookie! *heart swells like a delirious balloon.* They don't have the Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground) video yet, but they simply. must. offer. it. soon. very. soon. It is the best one yet. And yes, I know that over at IDF you can download all that for free, but those files are incredibly large-I practically need an extra hard drive to be able to accommodate all that.

in reference to the TV Guide article, which has Simon gushing all over the place over Adam, but says he could be at a slight disadvantage in the finale because Danny is the "safe" choice and Adam is the risk-taker.....Well, I think Danny could be at an advantage because you (Simon) give it to him asshole! Seriously, why is it that Simon sings the praises of Danny every week to the high heavens, but in the past few weeks has seemed kinda mediocre on Adam?? But then, in the press, Simon heaps the praise on Adam but downplays Danny! WTF! In the press Simon obviously loves Adam. Why, oh why, then is he not showing it to that degree on the show? Yes, he gave Adam the standing ovation, and that was freaking awesome, called him a star after Tracks of My Tears, etc., but now we are in the home stretch-show some crazy love Simon! If Danny is not a star, as he says in the article, then why praise him like that? American Idol is Adam's record of his rise to stardom, and we get bland remarks from Simon?!

Also, don't really understand all the talk about Adam and his weight. His face has always looked normal to me, def not pudgy. And his body weight is normal. Yes, he is tall, but Adam is not big at all. In my opinion, he even looked kinda slender in some of the group performances (ref Can't Get You Out of My Head). If he lost any weight, he would look weird. I think he's perfect. And I like his hair no matter what he does with it. After all, it is just hair and I am not the style police-it's all great by me.

I think Simon knows he has to be very careful in how he critiques. Too much over the top praise could create a backlash. Too little is also a problem. For real, I think he would love to let loose and gush all over the place for every performance. He loves Adam.

If we were to travel back in time to the Rat Pack's glory days, Adam is the only one who would be good enough to open for any of those gentlemen. I thought he really caught the spirit of the theme. The showmanship was perfectly calibrated for television too. Theatrical? Give me a break.

dream, great find. That's interesting and lends credence to his brother's statement that Adam was always creating something new when listening to the radio.

I found him very Judy Garland tonight. Randy probably wouldn't have liked her shows either, heh. Too theatrical.

Pythonite, ITA. Adam was the only one who really showed Rat Pack style--that swagger to the front of the stage!

I feel that he managed to combine a bunch of his "tricks" in this one short performance. Starting slow, building to a faster, more swinging mid-section, big glory note built up and then magically diminished. Both the pure ballad voice and the rock voice. With a touch of Adam showing how "out there" he could be, but just a touch. The way he sang "I feel . . . good," just killed it. And to get back to my first point, that kind of expression in the delivery--pure Rat Pack.

I thought everybody else (except maybe Matt) brought a good performance this week. But, different league, entirely.

This weight issue is kinda silly, imo. He has a round face but I happened to notice *cough* when he was dancing last week during the group number that his bod was looking very good. That's all I'll say on the subject before I embarrass myself.

Thanks for the TV Guide scans, dream. I've never really believed Simon when he says he doesn't care who wins. I think he does and he has to know that the show would be better off with Adam for the very reason he states. Adam is a star. Danny not so much. I even wonder how well Danny would do here in America but I don't think he has anywhere near the international star potential that Adam does. How many times is Idol going to run across someone of Adam's caliber? Simon should definitely hope Adam wins.

ETA: Also Adam sells a whole lot better than Danny. You can't tell me the almighty $$$ doesn't factor into this.

Adam was so happy and smiley during the package with Jamie Foxx it almost made it worth having him take up time that could have been used for a second song....I did say almost.

I still think that Adam was just worried about Simon's reaction and that is why he looked so intense, I also think after the whole Mad World debacle (in terms of the show running over) that Adam was very conscious of the time and how close they were to running over again (fire those idiots who direct and produce this show, please, 5 songs in one hour and they still go over the mark?!), at one point at the end when he is standing with Ryan you can see him sort of focus on something past the crowd and look a little worried and I'm betting that had to do with the fact that time was running out and yet again they hadn't gotten to through the recap/voting numbers.

I wonder also if he was more nervous about Simon et al's reaction because of the supposedly last minute change to one song, we'll never know of course but I wonder if he had planned to do one more ballad/conventional performance and this one as his more out there performance but then had to go with only one, he could have been quite worried after RoF that this was pushing it too far again. In fact I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when Simon basically defended his theatricality rather than taking him to task for it, to me that shows exactly how far Simon has come from RoF in terms of seeing Adam as the real deal. I don't think Adam really had Simon on his side until ToMT and especially Mad World but since then Simon has been chugging the kool-aid with the rest of us but it may be that Adam being a seasoned AI viewer and avid googler knows how fast that wind can change and knew this was a risk.

From the MTV live recap
8:53 pm - Once again, “Idol” saved Lambert for the end. Predictable.

8:54 pm - Adam Lambert is singing “Feeling Good,” normally an “Idol” death sentence. But he’s singing Muse’s arrangement. Interestingly enough, he didn’t give Muse credit.

8:55 pm - Sorry, “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” This might be the most campy moment of TV in 2009.

8:56 pm - Things that are shorter than Adam’s penultimate note: The Plain White T’s career, “Anne of Green Gables,” The Invasion of Iraq. Wow.

8:57 pm - Randy calls out how Broadway it was. Kara says it best, “You’re shocking in a good, confusing and shocking and sleazy and superb and way over the top but I like it!” Paula said she feels like she’s watching the Olympics and he’s the Michael Phelps. So be careful there, Adam. Your destiny involves getting caught using a bong and then you’ll be romantically attached to a homophobic beauty pageant reject. (Somehow I doubt that last part will come true.)

8:59 pm - Simon Cowell: “Best entrance we’ve had all year.” It’s true. Adam’s strut down the staircase was pretty killer.

9:00 pm - Phone number montage.

Sigh, I’m worried about Allison only because Simon damned her with faint praise. At least the phone number montage showed off an especially meaty section of her performance. Matt Giraud, meanwhile, sounds like a whining cat. And of course, they showed Danny’s only good 15 seconds.

But what did you think, readers? Wasn’t it delightful to have an episode without Lil Rounds? What exactly was Paula wearing tonight? Is Danny worthy of all the praise? (Better question: am I unfairly dissing the dude week to week?) And how the hell did Adam Lambert get mainstream America to embrace camp in such a major way??

How indeed Adam? How indeed.

Adam Lambert gets America to board the Camp Express because he's a fucking vocal genius. Anyone with less ability would have been crucified long ago.

I said it in the recap thread. It was as if Adam threw a gauntlet down to the "too theatrical" naysayers and said, "you want to talk theatrics, bitch? How 'bout this shit?"

That glory note was also OTT theatrical. My mouth actually sagged open when he went up a half-octave at the end of it. God DAMN.

I was able to download the iTunes live performance, and it's awesome. No cutaways to the judges, the camera stays on Adam. I cannot wait for the studio version of this. The whole thing is fantastic.

Call the Waabulance, Jim Cantielo. Like anyone had time to give anyone credit for anything.

Wow, I am still in awe. He is so playing all this just right; just the perfect time for a performance like this. The vocals are always insane, but last week he was called a bit "boring" by some, and then he comes out last night and really stirs it up. Funny that Simon points out how he is in it to win---he truly is. And he is really working to keep all the sides of Adam Lambert in rotation. This guy has crazy appeal and he is striving to keep everyone interested and invested.

Yes, he seemed so serious at the end, but I think the timing of the camera shots had a lot to do with it. I also think he knew that he had stepped out of the box and was genuinely nervous about the judges reaction.

He really should kill with the two song format next week.

And, I have to add that I keep reading about how he did the Muse version. It really only sounded like Muse in the very beginning; by the time he was down the stairs it definitely felt completely different.

Hmm Adam's little "autographed" iTunes photo says "thanks for all the LIGHT", in caps like that. That made me smile and kind of made my heart hurt at the same time? As in, thanks for buying my stuff and being a supporter and bringing light into this big stressball pressure-cooker extravaganza I've gotten myself into? Probably worrying for no reason. Again.
iTunes video is great, much like last week it benefits from better (read: more Adam-centric) camera angles.

I loved that. I don't think that he meant it in quite such a dire way, though. :) It made me smile, too, but no heartache here. I'm sure he's under a lot of stress, no doubt about that, but he seems to be handling it well.

Mind you, it's a little cheesy to have an autographed PDF, but it's cool that they threw that in there. :)

Yeah, it makes me wonder why they don't show THAT version on the show. I'm guessing they all get better camera angles on iTunes videos than they do on the show.

Whoever writes that MTV blog is an idiot. A (probably) gay performer automatically equals camp. How ridiculous. That writer wouldn't know camp if it attacked him/her in a back alley.

My dad’s reaction to Adam’s glory note: “Damn, I’d give my right nut to scream like that.”

Ummm.....ok.
