If you were a fan of MTV's now defunct reality show featuring Rob Dyrdek and his bodyguard and friend, Big Black, tune into Fantasy Factory. Premiering Sunday, February 8th at 9PM, the show, the premise of which I admittedly don't understand, will feature Rob, his cousin Drama, and a bunch of guest stars (Jackass' Johnny Knoxville) in a building called "The Fantasy Factory". Housed within the building is an awesome skate plaza/Rob's office. Expect a bunch of crazy things to happen, as is customary with Rob and his crew.
Check out the official website: Fantasy Factory. Also cool is the fact that the show's theme song sounds like something written by Rob himself. If you watched R&B, you know that Rob was often belting out cheesy songs he had thought of off the top of his head. The show's theme sounds just like one of those, but set to actual music. It's awesome and appropriately catchy. ETA: Apparently the theme song is by a band called Aldo Nova. So Rob didn't write it, but I'm sure he could have. ;) Also, I don't know if it's healthy for me to be so excited for the possibility of a cartoon based on Rob, Meaty and their friends. Shucks, and I wanted to start the thread. Anyway, here's the description I found on Futon Critic:
ROB DYRDEK'S FANTASY FACTORY- 9:00PM ET/PT After the success of "Rob & Big," ingenious skateboarder Rob Dyrdek is ready to become the Willy Wonka of Skateboarding in, "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory." The Fantasy Factory is a 25,000 square foot industrial-complex-turned-funhouse designed to expand the reaches of Rob's skateboard empire, known as Dyrdek Enterprises. The heart of the Fantasy Factory is Rob's office that sits atop the world's first indoor concrete skate plaza -- a place where anything Rob imagines can become reality. Rob continues to chase down his dreams in his own outlandish way, whether strapping on bouncy stilts to take on Lakers' Lamar Odom in a game of one-on-one basketball(a potential investor for Rob's co-owned restaurant), or enlisting longtime friend and skateboarding superstar Danny Way to help break the world's land-speed record on a skateboard. Rob's cousin Drama returns as Rob's nave, beat-upon whipping boy and personal assistant. As Rob fills his new digs with zip-lines, foam pits, skate ramps, and a "T Rex" (a cross between the Batmobile and a Stormtrooper), Rob will also look to fellow action sports friends, including Travis Pastrana, Paul Rodriguez, Steve Berra, Ken Block and Danny Way, to help him on his journey to make as many fantasies as he can come true. Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory is executive produced by Jeff Tremaine, Rob Dyrdek, Ruben Fleisher, and Shane Nickerson. Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley and Lauren Dolgen are the MTV executives in charge of production. If you're new and have accidently stumbled upon this thread, I have to say this: watch the show. Yes, Big Black was equally as funny as Rob, and he will be missed. But Rob is hysterical to watch, and Rob & Big was nowhere near the flaming car wrecks that have littered the MTV schedule. He's not a douchebag like Bam Margera, and he's not a whiner like that Life Of Ryan kid. Also: he has two bulldogs. If you've seen Lola (The Osbournes) or Tillman (Greatest American Dog), you know that the breed is hysterical to watch. And addition to "veteran" Meaty, who defined "undisciplined" on R&B, Rob got a puppy named Beefy. Look at this picture and tell me you wouldn't watch it. Seriously, while there might be a drop-off due to Big's absence, I think this show will rock. |

Holy crap, I remember Aldo Nova. How the hell did they even come up with them to do the theme?

Bulldogs are a big plus. But what happened with Big?

Stinger97...it's okay. I was waiting to see a commercial before making a move. And the credits are very nice, though I think I've heard the song somewhere else before.

Here's a video I found at the DC Skateboarding website with Rob and a few other dudes. It's a pretty cool look at the Fantasy Factory, more so than the tour that Rob gave in another video. You get a few up close and personal shots, which are awesome. There's also a "murdered out" car at the end that I'm going to assume is Rob's. Oh, and you see Zorb balls in a few of the shots! I hope his crew goes Zorbing in an episode!
