Eric says: "Oh, lovely/sweet freedom." (Thanks, IMDB) Could I love him more?

My swedish is not that good but that sounds right to me. He definitely says "frihet" (fri pronounced like free and het as let) which means freedom.

I thought it was paying protection money, not escape money. I never thought Sam was/is going anywhere.

Just to clear up what Erik says, I know a couple have already tried but there seems to be some continued guessing, so... (I'm totally one who refuses to believe that Lafayette is dead, so I understand why you'd want to hear "lafayette", but sorry, no.)

Erik says "Åh, ljuva frihet!" which means just what's already been said: oh, sweet freedom. And I'm swedish and 100% certain, sorry.

On to the episode, I thought the ending felt kind of strange. I understand that they were setting up story lines for next season, but it just felt like they went "There, that's your killer, now on to something more interesting!". Not that it wasn't interesting, it just felt like the climax was in the wrong place and quite ignored. Oh well.

For me the episode didn't feel too light on BS, but I've never managed to like Bill even a little bit, and Sookie's been losing points with me lately too, so I guess I'm biased. I do agree on the constant overdose of Jason, but then again I don't like him either so don't listen to me. Did love Rene though, so like Arlene I've got terrible taste in men!

Lafayette can't be dead. The attack was two weeks prior to the discovery of what is presumably his foot in the backseat, and in the Bon Temps heat, a dead body would be well decomposed 14 days after death--probably to the point of bone showing. So, whatever happened to him, if the foot does in fact belong to him, he can't be dead. At least not at the hands of Bill 2 weeks prior.

I think Tara's my favorite character. I love her so.

"Your hair is like the sunset after a bomb went off." BLE.

My must HBO always force me to wish my life away?

I never noticed Rene all that much until this episode, when his smokin' hottness overwhelmed everything on screen. Damn, but that man looked fine in his psychosis. He can stalk me anytime.

Based on the credits, I'm convinced Lafayette is coming back. Adina Porter (Lettie Mae) was removed from the credits while Nelson Ellis was still there. Yeah, yeah, Lettie Mae had no screentime this episode, but there have been other episodes when certain characters haven't made appearancs yet remained in the credits so this is my story and I'm sticking too it. I refuse to believe Lafayette is dead.

I don't think there was much balance at all. I would guess that Jason had way more screen time than Bill or Sookie. Some weeks it felt like the Jason Stackhouse Show to me. While I don't want to see The Bill & Sookie Show, they are supposed to be the main characters, yet I feel their storyline became secondary to Jason and Tara. This is just my opinion, its all in the way you view it, and not everyone sees the same thing, of course.

As I prefer watching Jason, Tara, and the Fangtasia crew to anything Sookie or Bill, I'm quite fine with the focus on Jason. For me, he's the character I relate to most, not because I'm dumber than a box of hair dye, but because his mistakes and flaws are so achingly human. He's a spoiled, stunted, selfish tool, but also striking sweet when the moment hits right. I was 100% sold on his love for Amy and his affection for Eddie, and his interactions with those characters revealed a very different side of him. Gran was the one person who always believed in him, and he spiraled out of control after her death; he's spiraling again with the loss of two people he was willing to open to open himself up to caring about. I relate more to those kinds of behaviors than Sookie's hot and cold routine.

On the other hand, I'm finally somewhat intrigued by Bill. Not the character persay, but when his house of cards is going to topple right on he and Sookie's ridiculous love story. She should have stuck to her guns after he killed the Ratrays and covered it up (rather poorly) -- she lives in a fantasy world where his violent nature is a thing of the past when in reality it's a system of behavior he works his butt off to conceal from her. For all his talk of mainstreaming, Bill slips up just like any other person only with deadlier consequences. Sookie may love Bill, but I will give up on her entirely if she has no reaction to his "feeding" and turning innocent people.

Overall, I like this episode but it felt a bit anticlimactic.
Kudos to Michael Raymond-James as Rene who was all kinds of awesome in his craziness. AP brought her A game to this episode and I liked Sookie again.

NOOOOOO!!!! Rene can't be dead. That was his red toe-nailed foot in Andy's car. But maybe he's just almost dead and not really dead. It was clearly a vamp or some other supernatural creature that came at him -- maybe Maryann or her pig...Maenads are attracted to bars because of the drinking and debauchery. And judging by the sumptuous food and the luxuorious house, Maryann is a sybarite extraordinaire.

Nelsan Ellis said in an interview last month that there was going to be a cliffhanger regarding Rene, so I'm holding on to a small sliver of hope, however delusional that is on my part.

Just love Rene character. See Lafayette, IMO, can be on camera for 10, 20 or even 60 minutes and carry the show. Not so, Tara and Jason. Don't get me wrong, I am second to none in my admiration for RK and RW's talents. But I'm in the camp with those who believe they are getting too much screentime at the expense of Bill/Sookie and Eric and Pam.

That was exactly my reaction. I feel like we were cheated out of Bill/Sookie's reunion. It felt like it was cut short because way too much time was spent on Tara, a story line I'm already getting bored with. I wanted more dialogue, and yes I too wanted to hear ILY's. Even though I think Bill more than proved his love for

Yes, the Bill/Sookie scenes were waaay too short for my taste. I would have liked to have seen some makeup sex though the kiss was very satisfying. I get that this is an ensemble show but in theory at least. Tara and Jason are getting far more screen time than the supposed leads. Their scenes go on for four and five minutes while the Sookie/Bill scenes last two minutes max. The writers also give us a lot more explanatory, backstory dialogue and insight as to Tara and Jason's motivations and feelings. We're left to our own devices for everyone else.

AB needs to do a better job of balancing in Season 2. And if he's going to make Tara and Jason the focal points of the show, he's got to raise Jason's IQ by at least 20 or 30 points. No one can be this dumb and be believable. I'd rather see Tara and Jason be pushed into the background a bit, their scenes shortened so we can get more Eric, Pam and Terry Bellefleur. AS and KB are awesome. I howled when Pam and Eric dumped Jessica back off at Bill's. Poor Bill there he was sitting there playing a little ragtime ditty and he's got his party face on all set to greet Sookie and BAM! Reality bites hard when he realizes it's Jessica...

We had a BIG foreshadowing of a Hoyt/Jessica hookup, and also an Arlene/Terry match. LOL! I would love to see Hoyt bring Jessica home to meet Maxine. For that matter, it would be a hoot if Jessica turned Maxine, who would make an awesome vamp.

I predict that if Bill/Sookie/Eric/Pam have to go away on vamp business, Jessica will be having house parties and orgies next season in the Compton mansion that would put the Tacky Trio tio shame and make even Eric and Pam blush.

Dragons and Werewolves and Elves, oh my! (I'd love to see Sam as a dragon -that would be awesome - and Sookie has an Elvish look about her - and didn't Bill ask her what she was in the 2nd ep?hmmm...)

I've slept on it, and I REFUSE to believe Lafayette is dead - my theory is that it was Bill who rushed up on him and fed enough to get the edge off, but didn't kill him because he knew Lafayette was Sookie's friend - and that's what I'm sticking with until summer '09 - the state of Denial - come live there with me!

I laughed at the way Arlene was handing Sookie the flowers, too, and I was nervous - I thought she was gonna somehow blame Sookie for everything - glad that didn't happen - Rene was going to be her 5th husband, right? and she's not even forty yet - man, that woman is a broke - down truck and a dead dog away from a country song - I hope she and sweet, sweet Terry DO get together - I think they would be very good for each other.

And I say this as a straight woman - Tara in that bikini was - GUH - it looked perfect on her, and that color, against her beautiful skin, was a work of art - but Tara, I fear for you, girl - but no- Lafayette will be back, awesomer than ever, fortified with vitamin V - there's no need to fear, LAFAYETTE is here! (he will be back, he will be back...)

So the butler guy pockets Tara's phone but then in the next scene when Sam asks her if she got his messages we are left to wonder if she even has her phone or if the butler is keeping it.

This bothered me, too, at first. Then I thought about how it could have worked. My theory is that the butler saw the phone call and the messages, took the phone, deleted the messages, and then replaced the phone where it was originally. Thus Tara has her phone and was able to call the people who have been wondering where the heck she is and find out what happened to Sookie while at the same time not getting any of Sam's messages as she tells him out on the patio.

I saw that scene a little differently. Bill "thought" Sookie's name in a strong way right before he collapsed, and Sookie snapped to attention immediately. No, he didn't kick Rene's ass, but perhaps he helped wake her up so she could take care of herself. Both Sam and Bill helped her, and Sookie handled the rest. Bill's sacrifice definitely proved his love for her, which she seemed to need.
I saw this scene the same exact way! Sookie definitely snapped away after Bill called out in vain to her. She was out, then she was energized. He really did try to get to her and I loved the burning death walk.

Was Sookie in Rene's head though? He kept saying get out of my head or thoughts or something like that when he was after her in the graveyard. So, was she listening to his thoughts so completely that she really was in his head? Looked like he tried to shake her out of his mind. I also really loved all the dirty talk he was thinking when he was after her!

I doubt that Bill fed on Lafayette. Even though they gave the appearance of it and Bill mentioned feeding and all, I think it's just trickery. Although, Bill's need to feed to rejuvinate might have been too strong to worry about who it was? Nah, I'll stick with doubt.

And I don't think it's a coincidence that MaryAnn happens to be driving a RED car. Heck, if I were the Devil, that would be my color of choice. All the tempting fruits, plumped bedding and pool of refreshment all points to the 'come over to the RED team' to me.

I also think Sam is abandoning Merlottes, Sookie w/ Bill and Tara w/ MaryAnn all because of MaryAnn. Take the money and run Sam run.

There goes Belflour(sp?)-or-the-old-sheriff-being-the-real-killer twist.

That leg was too feminine to be Layfayettes. Then, again we're talking about Layfayette. I refuse to believe my second favorite character of the whole show is dead too. Please, don't let that be.

Rene, Rene. Call me a sadist, but I thought psycopath Rene was hotter than regular-fake-Cajun-Rene. Was I the only one who wanted to hear the rest of Arlene's story about the crazy things Rene did too her in the bedroom? Rene was the male eye-candy for me on the show, and he will be missed.

So, they're taking sex-fiend Jason to the next extreme with this religious angle?...I already don't care.

Hello, to Tara's potential boyfriend and his strumming-the-guitar-technique.

Blood and gore makes me laugh. It's the subtle things that always get to me. That buzzing effect they did with MaryAnne freaked me out. Which leads me to this question, WHAT THE HELL IS MaryAnne?

I called bs when Bill didn't combust into a fireball. Clearly, I've been reading to many vampire literature to know that went against every vampire rule.

How come Sookie's busted face made me feel a little sympathy for her? Tara will be the reason for me to like Sookie. That scene of her consoling Sookied made me say awe.

I was pissed when Arlene was interrupted and didn't get to the bedroom details. So, you're not alone! And, I bought that Bill didn't combust fireball style as he did say tell Sookie that Vampire deaths don't happen "that way." I think it was a conversation in which she was asking about how it happens when exposed to sunlight, IIRC?

I really liked this episode! It was seamless, the transition from closing out old storylines and introducing new ones. That's got to be hard to do with such a large cast, each needing screen time. My only fear is that we will get too many characters/storylines and end up with dialogue that is cut too short (and need to guess at their inner emotions or motivations) and/or characters we don't get a chance to care about. I don't feel that way yet, and I'm hopeful the writers will continue to strike a good balance.

I had a hard time understanding Sookie - it could be her accent - in her reconciliation scene with Bill, she sounds like she says "my LOVE is too short", but my head tells me she would have said "my life is too short". I replayed this scene many times, but I still can't be sure.

I loved the Shirley Temple movie Sookie was watching when Bill arrived. "I knew you were alive Daddy! Everyone told you were dead, but I didn't believe them. Don't ever go away again!". (Paraphrased)

Pam, Eric and Jessica - wow. They light up the screen everytime. How much fun to play Pam - rolling her eyes at the men. I am anxious to know how Bill will explain Jessica to Sookie. Will he tell her the (awful) truth? So much for their little celebration. When Bill told Sookie, "vampires are always in some kinda trouble" he wasn't kidding!

I was meh on this episode.

There was too much packed into it, and it made the pacing seem off--especially for a finale. I'm not a big fan of Tara. I like her in smaller doses. Also, too much time was spent with MaryAnn (and her suspiciously glossy and grand house) and Jason (that beautiful but gorgeous fool). If he's going to rush into yet another stupid decision, I'd like less of him on my screen for now.

I was hoping for more Eric and Pam. Couldn't they have two scenes? What a waste of two great actors and great characters. I don't want to see them flit in and out like this in Season 2.

Yeah, this was outside of Fangtasia when Sookie told him she had a dream that they were having breakfast, and he burst into flames. He told her it wouldn't happen quite like that, and he wouldn't burst into flames, "at least, not right away." So the sun obviously holds danger, but he had a window time where he'd just sizzle before burning up entirely.

I refuse to believe that it's Lafayette in Andy's car, and if it is, he's not dead. He'd have been missing for two weeks, and if he'd been dead that whole time, his foot would be a lot grosser than that. I'm hoping if he was the one Bill had fed on, he'd kept him around, "V"ed him back to alive, then left him somewhere he'd be sure to be found. He's not dead, and I'll keep believing that until I'm explicitly told otherwise by the show. And if he is dead, he'd better be a vampire or a ghost and haunt the shit out of Bon Temps.

I completely understand his little fit at the bar about the marriage thing (which I think was more about everyone openly discussing Bill and Sookie getting married two weeks after he and Sookie had themselves kissed rather than vampire/human marriage in general) and think he actually hasn't shown enough hurt/anger.

I don't think it was just that - it would make sense for him to have growing resentment of the application of vampire rights when he himself is an "other," a shapeshifter, someone who still needs to live in hiding and not tell anyone for fear of how they will react.
