Thanks for the new clip.

Judging by the feral grin on Miguel's face in response to something one of the judges says, I'm guessing he gets a pass next week. He probably does just fine dancing on his own. But, tactically, it's a big mistake. How can he be considered a "Star Dancer" if he readily admits he doesn't partner? Not too versatile.

Nancy is completely over Janelle and Nick looks like he's throwing in the towel. At this point, it's a horse race between Mochi and Cody. I think they both do well in this challenge. Based on the comments, I suspect the guest judge is complimenting Mochi and I think Vincent is talking to Cody. I get the sense Vincent is starting to feel the Cody love (now that the mask is off).

Couple of thoughts:
1. Is the winner known yet? Did they film the final selection, or will there be a "live" show to declare the winner. I find it difficult to believe the identity of the winner is still secret if it was revealed to the dancers already. SYTYCD leaked through the rehearsals before the tapings. Of course, I haven't looked for a true spoiler.

2. It looks so much like a Cody win, that any other result will seem manipulative. And yet, for drama purposes, something has to happen to derail the Cody express. I don't know what that is going to be, but there's going to be something. The producers don't have a supposed "America Voted" excuse for a less talented dancer or lesser performer on the show winning. I think Mochi could have given Cody a run, but the injury should hold her back.

3. Anyone know what the lag time is between challenges. I doubt they really let them sit around for a week. I can see a day to recuperate, maybe. So, a week might be. Monday - Audition challenge. Tuesday - callback. Wednesday - rest. Thursday - audition challenge. Friday, callback challenge. Saturday - rest. If so, fatigue should affect everyone but Cody, who given his Broadway experience probably has more stamina than the rest of the remaining dancers. Janelle, for example, should be dead on her feet by now. Okay, she was dead on her feet in Modern Meltdown. I don't see her getting any more life into her cheerleader frame again.

imo only, based on the extended preview, I think this week's win will come down between Miguel and Mochi because we see them struggling AND we're getting their backstory. Struggling and a backstory is always a sign of winning or losing, and since Miguel was smiling his asshat smile, I think he's up for a win.

Nancy's comment that one of the dancers "is kinda cold" is probably directed at Nick, since he's the one who they constantly beat on for having "no fire". I think it will be between Janelle and Nick for the elimination. Please lord, not Nick (sob! bites knuckle).

Cody is being set up for a reality check, because in the preview Janelle says that Cody's skill at everything is "pissing her off" AND then Cody confessionalizes that he's looking forward to another win. Uh oh! cue the hubris edit.

The ultimate prize is Cody's to lose. But weirder things have happen in reality shows, as has been pointed out...

Actually he says, he's looking forward to another chance to try to win. Which is basically what they all have, every week.

Yeah, plus, Miguel going on and on about his great sense of natural rhythm during the Stomp challenge didn't stop him from winning, so I don't think the edit means that Cody will be in danger...unless Nancy was talking about him when she said that someone's dancing was cold. I think that Cody will probably get middling praise this week even if he is the best so he doesn't look so much like a front runner. However, if he doesn't do as well as usual then I could see the judges giving him a reality check of some sort, whether it's deserved or not. I do think that Miguel or Mochi might pull off a win though. I think Nick will either do very well or go home, because he was talking about how he was next to leave in the beginning of the preview. That could set us up for being surprised that he actually won something, or be his set up for going home. Janelle really needs to leave this week, but I could have sworn that I caught a glimpse of her in the music video challenge (next weeks) in one of the previews for the whole season.

Like some others, I'm curious as to whether the winner has been picked yet. If so, I definitely don't think Nick or Janelle won based on their bravo blogs. In her last one, Janelle said something about 'not expecting to receive props from the judges for anything that she does' (never mind that she won two challenges) and in a couple of Nick's blogs he complains about how what he does is never good enough for the judges. If there are three finalists, then I'm pretty sure they will be Mochi, Cody and Miguel.

I agree, but on the Bravo boards, many people think that the judges are biased against Janelle, Miguel and Nick, and that the whole thing is rigged for Cody to win. So the producers may not need any excuses to justify a Miguel or Janelle win. However, I really can't imagine Cody screwing up badly enough to not be a finalist so if he leaves before then, it will probably be because of some lame reason made up by the judges.

I agree with your picks. I think we'll see SIUAD try to pull some Top Chef nonsense on us. Cody will be the Hung character, the judges will praise him but then there will be a question of whether he "dances with his heart" (aka "cooking with soul") and the judges will note that Miguel dances with such joy in his heart and passion is just as important as technique, blah, blah, blah. All the sudden this competition will be about who can prove THEY HAVE THE MOST PASSION rather than the most talent.

while there is a lot that is not known, we do know some things:
1. Cody does make it to the final episode, as his mother's dance school website revealed. Since the website was exposed, the message has changed in order to be in compliance with whatever agreement the contestants signed.
2. The contestants have practically no down time at all. From several contestant interviews, I believe that they started shooting the show during the last week of November. Also, during Modern Meltdown, the electronic device that Miguel et al use to receive "email" shows the date Dec. 9, 2007. So, in effect, six challenges were filmed during about 12 days.

I admit that I'm a rookie (compared to others on these boards) when it comes to Bravo-analysis and divining the tricks of the producers, but I'll weigh in anyway on my predictions for next week.

I think Cody or Mochi wins the challenge. In the preview clip where Nick is telling Cody that he (Nick) is the next to go home, Cody counsels him to go over the top, "because the judges can't fault you for that." I think Cody is a quick learner and I think one piece of advice he's taken to heart is that the judges want him to emote more. They want to see more expression on his face and in his dancing. I think he's basically telling Nick what he intends to do and will do in the challenge. And I think the judges will reward him for it.

I can't see Miguel being rewarded for refusing to partner with someone regardless of how well he dances. As for Nick and Janelle, I pick Janelle as the next to go. Something about the comment in Nick's blog where he says "never bet against a southpaw" or, words to that effect, makes me think he will be around for the video challenge. Besisdes, if this is a partnering challenge, Nick should have more experience than hip hop/cheerleader girl.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that no one goes home this week. Jerry says in his blog something to the effect that "5 will become 4....or will they?" Since Nicole self-eliminated in the first ep., they have a cushion. Maybe they need 5 dancers for the last challenge. Maybe the judges will be deadlocked on the bottom two, so they'll give each the go ahead ("Nick, you have amazing technique but no fire; Janelle, you're spunky as hell, but your dancing is unpolished....)

fribbles I think you are probably correct about the non-elimination this week. I have been pondering about how they would address the early elimination of Nicole. A week's (or one challenge) reprieve for all the dancetestants makes a lot of sense.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed you are right, fribbles. I don't want to risk losing Nick this week. I'd like to keep him on my TV screen a little longer.

There is a lot of negativity coming from Janelle's blog though. I don't think she makes it through to the finals. If not this week, then next week ...

Here is another preview clip from the Latin challenge. Oh dear, Mochi really struggles. I still think she wins the challenge, though.

The finale is taping tomorrow. I sure hope that we get some spoilers, now that everyone is paying attention.

I sort of knew that the finale would be taped later...but I'm wondering if it's a 'live' finale where the actual competition took place earlier, or if the last finalists will actually be dancing and performing their final dances and being judged 'live'.

Since all the judges are watching the episodes as they air, I'm wondering if what they see in the episodes will affect how they judge the final. That just wouldn't be fair, I don't think.

Not fair, sure, but perhaps if they see how stank and horrible Miguel's personality is, it'll color their judgement of him...negatively, it can only be hoped.

Mochi looked very wan in the preview snippet at the end of last night's show. I hope she doesn't flame out. Everyone except Oscar must be exhausted, which gives Oscar an unfair advantage, imo.
