A previous poster mentioned the lack of a leading black character. At least there's an Asian-American one. I think it's a TV rule that you can't have both.

It's funny...my god sister said the same thing on Monday (mind you, I just finished watching the pilot online). For one, it's ABC, and ABC has been notoriously bad about putting minorities in leading roles (GA and PR aside). Thus I don't expect them to put a woman that looks like me in the lead. Additionally, I feel that if they had a black woman in the lead, they would have really shoddily done home life/work storylines revolving around her (ie, Black Tax, black women finding it harder to marry, etc). In a way I'm glad that there isn't a black main character because I'm almost sure that her storylines would make me shake my head so much until I develop whiplash.

In any event, I have to say that I enjoyed the show and will be watching again tonight. I won't lie, I like mindless entertainment since I have to save actual brain power for grade school. Sure, there are a lot of similarities to SATC---but I loved SATC so it's kind of ok with me.

I didn't mind Mia's tactics...the ex fiance didn't dispute that he would have done the same things. He's just a sore loser.

I felt bad for Juliet, but applauded when she told her husband about himself and put him on alert for revenge sex. That's going to be a torment in itself--him waiting for that day to come is like emotional warfare. Immature, but I love it.

I agree with those who said that Zoe should have known better than to hire that girl. References and background check aside (because who is to say that that stuff didn't happen off screen), no intelligent woman would hire a girl that looks like that to be a nanny--and a live in nanny at that--in a home with a husband who seemed to be a stay at home dad. Oh hell to the no.

Lastly, I like Caitlin--though her SL is a bit Samantha-esque with whole lesbian thing...but it could work.

I hated Juliet's revenge sex angle. Just because her toolish hubby is cheating, I don't see how it's ok for her to do it too. Miranda Otto really rocked that last scene though, especially as it was in such contrast to the one just before it in the kitchen with the girls. Drinking wine has never looked so sad.

Lourdes Benedicto?! That would be like if I went gay for Carlos Mencia!

Ouchie.
Caitlin's half-thrilled "She kissed me! She wants me!", half-stunned "What the hell did I just do?" reaction was hella cute.

I thought so, too. And usually I find Bonnie Sommerville annoying.
Especially when she accidentally honked her horn. Hee.

Heh. Insert "Is that what the kids are calling it these days?" joke here.

I liked the Pilot, didn't love it, but I liked it. I rarely watch a Pilot and think "I must must must watch this show every week" and this was no exception...but I enjoyed it enough to put it on the DVR and I'll give it a few episodes and see what happens.

I did really like the whole Caitlin lesbian bit, especially since it seemed she was just going to tell her friends about it. I would have been bothered if she tried to keep it a secret and was sneaking around, but I think, if she casually tells her friends (as she appeared about to), this could make an interesting character.

Watched the pilot online due to curiosity.. since this show is a replacement for my favorite show Dirty Sexy Money. Didn't like it. I usually like Miranda Otto, but for some reasons her character just seems dull, a forced fusion between Bree from Desperate Housewives and Miranda from SATC. The wardrobe is awesome, though.

The whole speech after the red head found out her husband was cheating was really annoying. "we're so successful and wonderful that no man will ever be able to deal with us." There are men out there who are OK with successful women. Maybe it's because these women are successful and obnoxious that they have problems.

Okay, well, I watched the pilot. It wasn't a great pilot, but I will say I will give the show a few more chances. However, I have to say that I can understand why the network held onto the show until now. I doubt the show would have made it through premiere season with all the other shows to compete with. Now, with slim pickens out there, people are tuning in. Like I said, I'll watch a few more times, though after watching this episode I'm thinking a few will easily dwindle into one. Anyway, watching this show makes me ever so curious to see what the Brooke Shields version will be like.

I watched the pilot. Still have the second episode to watch, but not sure I ever will. These women are boooorrrring! I got so sick of the Blackberrys and deal-making and wha wha wha over their nannies and that redhead who sounded like she was trying to be a new Bree Van DeKamp. The women seemed to go through the role-playing of being successful businesswomen, but they don't seem to have the teeth for it. Far too whiny. Far too much time spent sending silly text messages and not enough actually managing or doing real work. I expected intelligent wheeling and dealing and something more than Mia crashing a golf date in a cute outfit.

Oh, and a Catholic priest so supportive of his sister who wants to go gay? In what universe?

The "four Miranda's" comment up above is the perfect description of this show. I don't see that much individual characterization here -- all four are rushed driven women living in NYC, climbing varied corporate career ladders. Where's the artistic one who craves a place away from the city to satisfy her muse? Where's the depressed one who sees herself on a daily treadmill? Where's the party girl?

Exactly. They're a bunch of cookie-cutter women. No writers, artists, actresses, a woman who hates her job, or anything remotely interesting to build on.

I disagree. The Church has an official position, but priests are human beings with feelings and opinions they might feel free to express to a beloved sibling.

I agree. There are many in the Catholic community who are not 100% in favour of the churches stance on gay issues, priests marrying etc clergy included. Ok well, not many but some. Caitlin is lucky to be related to one of them.

I usually like Miranda Otto, but for some reasons her character just seems dull, a forced fusion between Bree from Desperate Housewives and Miranda from SATC. The wardrobe is awesome, though.

Except for LL's sleeves though. Ugh. I agree on MO. So far her character seems to be a cobbled together version of other uptight, prefection seeking TV wives who have fabulous clothes. MO is a great actress. I'd love to see her be given her own original character to grow into and not just be a rehashed version of other TV characters.

I just watched the pilot, and let me say that I had one WTF? moment.

The kitchen scene. It sounded like the redhead was actually blaming herself for her husband cheating on her. "Do you know what a man gives up to be with one of us?" Say Whaaaa? And that was before the excuses that she gave for staying with his cheating behind.

I lost serious respect for the character at that point. Why doesn't she take the hint from men, and not apologize for being successful?

Yeah, talk about walloping us over the head with the mother of all cliches. Women can either be successful in love or successful in their careers. They can't ever have both and they are idiots if they think that they can. Lord.

Just been catching up online and I have to say that I liked it.

Mia's bf was douchey for dumping her after loosing. He said he wanted someone to come home to and not be the stay at home. I guess it's all right for him to feel that way, but he had to know that she was career driven when he met her. If he had won and Mia had lost she wouldn't have dumped him. She'd just try harder next time and go out and get a bigger and better career.

And what Juliet said about these men growing up with an image of what their wives would be like and getting something completely different is so true. Not to rant, but men need to wake up and realize that women can win and be successful and be lovable. Honestly, it's not written in stone that women can't have a successful busy career and have kids and have a husband who doesn't resent her for it. I know, preaching to the choir.

Also, these women are supposed to be heads of corporations. Not just successful women, but the top, the best. It takes a lot to get there and to stay there. For me, it's not just success in a career, it's the jackpot that these woman have scored. I have worked for a some women like this and I feel terribly for them (well, I don't really feel bad for the women on this show) because the men and people in their lives don't know how to deal with it. This really is the first time we've had women running Fortune 500 companies and I don't know if either sex knows how to rework old paradigms. And i don't know if viewers do either. I say this as the daughter of a very successful VP who grew up resenting her mother for working so much, but realized that I never resented my father for the same thing, even though my mother had to work twice as hard for everything she ever got.
