Taping is tomorrow, then?

Contrary to a lot of thinking, I don't think that Channing is one of Nigel's faves, and another week of (weak) ballroom for Phillip and her could be all she wrote. Especially with the samba -- I think it's one of the ballroom dances that can look REEEEALY bad w/o a ballroom person. Think Evan/Randi or even Hok/Jaimie. It's a hard dance to fake well (though Katee and Josh, while certainly overpraised, did pretty well). Plus I just think that Channing and Phillip seem not just to be lacking a connection, but seem to actually have kind of an icky connection. My personal jury's still out with Phillip -- liked him in auditions, but he does give off a bit of a smug vibe. I'm trying like crazy not to assume arrogant, because that's what so many did with Danny.

It will be quite interesting to see the Russell/Noelle connection. And I venture to guess it will be NappyTabs. Just a feeling.

I'm trying to do the same. However, while Danny was given the arrogant edit and then displayed no arrogant behavior--at least not that I could see--Phillip has an arrogant edit and a damning clip from Vegas week. Slightly different boats.

I'm dreading the day Mollee and Nathan get a sexy dance. I felt like a perv watching the 10 seconds of sexiness that was incorporated in the disco; I don't believe I could handle an entire dance.

ITA, Reia. If anything, Danny always seemed kinda shy and backward to me, which can be misread as arrogant by some. Phillip, otoh, does have a smarmy quality, for lack of a better word. The whole spoken-word poetry thing seemed kind of super-self-important to me, but mileages vary and all.

I do wonder how Karen will fare with HH. She might do much better with NappyTabs, if her HH is so-so. I don't remember her doing hip hop in any of the Vegas clips. And oddly, I find myself kind of rooting for Legacy (because I hadn't been much of a fan until this last week) with contemporary. I wonder if he and Kathryn will end up being one of those kind of special couples?? I guess I've never seen a season where so many of the couples feel...off...to me. Maybe they'll build a bunch of chemistry this week. Still bummed about losing Ariana. While I didn't wish Noelle ill over her hurt knee, her free pass last week just didn't sit right with me. I wish that Russell was paired with Karen.

Here's a little insight to the world of Ballet dance: if a dancer, say "Danny"-like, acted the way Brandon or Janette did (loud, obnoxious, over-confident) then they would never book jobs. You can NEVER outshine the choreographer or principals, it just doesn't work like that. In the Ballet world there are a million younger kids willing and able to work for less. Now, do I think Danny had the right to be arrogant on SYTYCD?

Yes, he had more passion, talent, and technique than any other person on any season. However, he was just an introvert, and TWTB sees that, and wants them to play up for the cameras, idk act "cute" w/e. Same with Kayla, just a natural introvert, and a lot of people gave her the arrogant edit. Now, do I agree with Kayla being the strongest dancer on that season? Hell no. She was dull, and danced with no passion. Jeanine deserved that win.

I read somewhere Phillip's father passed away during Vegas week, maybe that contributed to his lackluster attitude, but he hasn't appeared to be over-confident, that might be his personality. Now, Peter is another issue...he is beginning to get on my nerves. And Ryan, his whole bit about working out, really? Reaching deep there aren't you?

Looking forward to Kathryn in the Stacey Tookey (still lukewarm on Legacy), Ryan and Ellenore AT, and Russell/Noelle Hip Hop. Peter and Pauline were given a gift by pulling Wade this week and I am on Team give Phillip some more time. I hope he and Channing do well in the Samba as it's my favorite Latin dance.

It's funny that you say that, because last season I had to keep reminding myself that Kayla was a contemporary dancer not a ballet dancer. It is just a different mindset, and you are right, you might try to stand out when you are dancing, by your dancing, but that's it. I never thought Kayla was arrogant, just kind of super-focused and maybe not very interesting. I get tired of the 'arrogant' edit--especially when it's used to try to pull down someone with superior skills, like Danny. Such bullshit. How do they know what he thinks about himself.

I never thought Kayla was arrogant. "Vapid" is more along the lines of what I thought. I thought she had good technique, but I never felt anything from her. I also never thought Danny was arrogant. With him I got more of an "introvert" vibe. But, I thought he displayed plenty of passion in his dances.

Anyway, back to the spoilers.

Super excited to see a Wade piece. Hopefully this will allow Pauline to avoid the bottom again. Wade is pretty good about choreographing to his dancers strengths. I am interested to see what he can give to Peter and Pauline.

Ridiculous that Nathan/Mollee have a Bollywood. Right after a Disco? I cry foul on that. I am betting I can recite the judges comments on this without even having seen it yet.

Channing/Phillip drawing a Samba seems ominous. I am neutral to slightly positive on both dancers. But, they might really need a miracle to avoid the bottom on this one.

I am ambivalent about Bianca/Victor in a Tyce piece. Mainly because I am ambivalent towards Tyce's Broadway numbers. They had good chemistry last week though, so maybe they can pull it off?

Excited about Ellenore/Ryan doing an Argentine Tango. These two are great performers. Great choreographers. This has a lot of potential. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Curious about Legacy/Kathryn Contemporary. Stacey Tookey is a good choreographer. I am, surprisingly, really hoping Legacy can pull this off. I think I am still feeling a lot of residual goodwill towards him and Kathryn from last week's routine. Will be great to see Kathryn in this.

Jakob/Ashleigh Waltz is kind of a snooze. I don't like her, and this dance won't really show off his best abilities.

I am hoping, hoping, hoping that Russell has the Jamal Sims piece. I think I might die a little inside watching Russell dance another NappyTab piece. He is so much better than their choreo. At least he won't end up in the bottom again. (Right?) Interested to see if Noelle can still dance.

Kevin/Karen Hip Hop: Well, he is bound to look better than last week. Interested to see how Karen does.

The Channing/Phillip Samba is going to be both painful and awkward to watch. I'm likely going to turn away from the screen, not because I don't think Channing is beautiful, she's amazing, but because of the fact that these two have no chemistry and just seem awkward with each other.

This sort-of coincides with Jakob/Ashleigh, where there's no chemistry either but they don't seem nearly as awkward/reluctant to work with each other as Channing/Phillip do. The Viennese Waltz is right down Ashleigh's alley, but I get the feeling that Jakob will shine and she won't.

Nathan/Mollee Bollywood is going to be an eyesore too, but since they practically seem to be the judge's favorites this season, they'll get nothing but praise even if they dance the routine terribly.

I'm looking forward to the Ryan/Ellenore Argentine Tango. They've got brilliant choreographers to help them, and I think Ellenore is one of the strongest girls this season. Also looking forward to the Stacey Tookey choreographing again, although I'm not sure how Legacy is going to go.

I love how it's only been one week, and Nathan & Molle are already "that couple".

Looking forward to the AT, the Wade, the Tookey, the Jakob, the Karen and the Russell. Like, almost everything. That's weird. Mostly though, I'm just looking forward to seeing how well Karen will handle her Hip Hop, how Jakob will handle the Viennese Waltz and if Russell can actually manage to make NappyTabs look good. I'm assuming AT, Wade and Tookey will be some of the standout routines, as long as Ellenore can handle latin ballroom.

Victor/Bianca and Channing/Phillip are just... meh. I don't think any of them will make the top 10, TBH. Overall, not a big fan of the tappers, although I do enjoy the style.

Trandrew at Idol Forums said that Legacy blew folks away in the contemp. As a fan of Legacy- I am happy about that.
He also said who is out. With something that big- should I spoiler it in the spoiler forums?

Bianca and Phillip are cut. Really surprised by Bianca's cut.

Kind of bothered by the fact that all of the cuts made by the judges are minorities.

seltzer4's on it. I'm surprised (but not unhappy) that Nigel is willing to cut two of his three tappers so early. I kind of expected them to cut Ashleigh, Kevin, or some other foddery type that could easily get through to the Top 10 on fanbase alone when it gets to the voters.

Since Legacy did great, I really hope that Kathryn shined alongside him.

She's obviously going to be safe this week anyway, but I want to see her continue to pick up momentum. If for some reason she happened to be the other girl in the B2, it would be a step in the wrong direction.
