Hee! Actually, I must admit: I am dating both Jeff Goldblum and Damon Wayans. (And curemode, w00t! for the Ultravox namecheck! As if posting in the Scott Baio thread wasn't enough to out me as a total '80s geek.)

Are you really? Or are you pulling out collective legs? Because frnakly I am jealous of the Damon Wayons dating. Nothing against Jeff Goldblum, but if I had to pick one......

Besides, I was born in 1965 so Damon Wayons is closer to my age.

Ok, so I looked Scott up on IMDB, (if you go there, be warned, there is a spoiler in the Trivia section) and his parents immigrated from Italy, he grew up in Brooklyn and went to what sounds like a Catholic school. Maybe I've seen one too many movies/tv shows with stereotypical Italian men from Brooklyn but he really does seem to regard women as background scenery as far as I can tell. Women just don't stand on equal ground in his mind. Any marriage he embarks on is completely doomed to be unhappy because it could never be a true partnership, it will totally be on his terms only. I just get the feeling he grew up around a lot of machismo and bought it all hook, line and sinker. Not to mention the character of Chachi was a pretty overly-sexed kid with the ladies. I think he has a really, really skewed vision of...just about everything.

After about the second line out of Johnny V's mouth all I could think was "This guy has got to go!" You can tell Johnny V. is an emotional piranha, sucking all of his identity from being "ScottBaio's" friend. Being "ScottBaio's" friend is probably the biggest thing he has ever done in his life and the only thing that makes him feel important.

When Johhny V. went in to pull Scott from the autograph signing you could tell he was getting a big power play high. And the way he turned into a touchy twelve year old boy when he got into a pissing match with Erin was embarrassing. I was waiting for him to say, "I know you are, but what am I?" It seemed like a sign of Scott's co-dependent relationship with Johnny V. that he didn't just say something to let Johnny V know he wanted to stay. Scott didn't have to leave.

I was hopeful when the season previews showed Scott breaking up with Johnny V. (The real love story here may be Scott and Johnny V.) It does seem like he sabotages Scott's life in order to keep him in a place most beneficial to him. Don't get me wrong - I'm not absolving Scott of his responsibility in this relationship - I'm just saying when you get in a relationship with an emotional piranha, they don't let go of their life source easily. I'm sure Johnny V. will try to manipulate him and guilt Scott in a major way. Time to get some grown up friends. I think one of Scott's first steps towards adulthood is getting rid of his dead-weight, enabling, co-dependent friend, Johnny V. And good luck with that.

Am I nuts, or was Baio's mom often featured in sitcoms as well? I seem to remember her...but it's hazy.

Haha, you are one busy '80s geek then! And as my name probably tells you, I've been known to enjoy some Euro '80s music as well.

Keeping this on topic, I rewatched the episode and I take back about 30% of the venom I launched at Scott. He doesn't seem so much a "jerk" as someone who just hasn't grown up.

Nah, sorry, nutgoodie, just joshin'. No Wayans or Goldblum on my dance card...my guy keeps me plenty busy as it is! ;)

Loved the story about Henry Winkler and his gracious attitude toward waitstaff! I once met Jay Thomas(Murphy Brown) in this same capacity, and he was very nice as well, even stood up to shake my hand!
Oh well, wonder if Scotts show will be shown early today?

The show will be on at 12:30 PM today. It looks like from now on it will be a half hour show.

I know someone posted that Renee (Renee Sloan) was "Michelle" in the book about living with Hugh Hefner. (ick) Apparently, that's her. From the imdb link above, she was also Pamela Anderson's understudy on "Baywatch". Renee Sloan
Too bad she didn't stop the plastic surgery while she still looked pretty good.

After watching this second episode, I just have to say why he shouldn't be doing this. It's a giant waste of time for him. As was said a while back, some people are simply not meant to get married. I believe he is one of them. If you genuinely look at marriage as that much of a death sentence, 8 weeks of coaching, advice and celibacy isn't going to change you.

And Johnny V? My god, I've never seen anything so transparent in my entire life. I have three words: Hire. A. Hooker. Because if Scott ever finally wises up and dumps your ass, that's the only action you'll ever be seeing in your fugly world.

I realize that the situations on this show are set up but this episode was so contrived that it was hard to even think about him as being anything other than an actor.

Oh look...it just happens to be a bachelorette party. Oh, Julie is performing her standup routine...who would have guessed that?

I'd get more worked up about Johnny V if I thought for one second that he was "real". Don't get me wrong- he may be Scott's real friend, but it just seems obvious to me that his behavior and role on the show are completely scripted. I don't buy his act at all.

Can't say that I think Johnny V is an act if only because I cannot imagine anyone would want to be that guy on televison (even cable) as themselves unless they really were that guy and therefore totally oblivious to how pathetic their entire life appears to be...

But he very well could be that guy because there are plenty of moronic annoying people in this world...for real. The only thing is they don't know they are moronic annoying people. And since Scott became friends with this guy as a kid he may not realize what a douche bag Johnny V is because he is so used to him. Plus when you meet someone as a kid and grow up with them and remain friends you tend to overlook negative characteristics in other people. But you know, maybe if this is for real and Scott watches this, he will see what a tard Johnny V is and dump him for good. The guy is just a loser in every sense of the word.......unless this IS all just an act.

If it is an act with Johnny V., If I were Scott, I would be scared to death to cut ties with him. I get the vibe he would murder Scott. In a "if I can't hang out with him, nobody can." sort of way.

He creeps me out big time.
