I have to say Phil's head being crushed by the car elicted a "HOLY SHIT!" from me but...I expected a lot more.

I yelped "Whaaat?" at the screen, but I think I actually admire the audacity of it now.

(Notice that Tony, Carmela and A.J. all popped a little fried Ourosbouros into their mouths near the end? The cycle continues ...)

Phil's death was cinematic. And very gross.

So no answers. But at least Tony didn't die....

They made Uncle Jun look horrible. No teeth..ick.

And Hunter!! I was just asking about her in another thread.

All in all I think I liked it. To be honest it needs to sink in for me.

Edited because after reading the posts here and rewatching the ending, I'm putting myself in the Tony dies as Meadow walks in camp.

I still don't like the ending because I wanted the show resolved. But 48 hours removed as given me the necessary perspective to create an answer to my original question: "What was that?"

That being said, I'm sad for everyone involved with Sopranos that they made the Seinfeld finale look good.

One of Tony's guys shot Phil as he was saying good-bye to his wife, who was sitting in the car. The grandkids were in the backseat. The car rolled over Phil's head.
