do believe that Kate read all of Sawyer's letter out loud back in Season 1.

And I don't recall all of it, but the way it was set up - you first thought the letter was from the child of one of Sawyer's con victims. Then you realize, it's from Sawyer himself, as a child.

I think Sawyer has plenty yet to resolve, with Kate/Jack, Jack/Juliet or however that works out.

I may be in a minority but I don't blame Locke - it seemed to be part of the cosmic plan. But I want to know what Ben meant by saying Locke "brought" his father to the island. It better not all be somebody's dream - I'll tell you that.

And I agree Ben is a wonderful character - deliciously hateful. I looked ahead to a synopsis of next week's episode and he gets some flashback time.

Just curious to see what Sawyer II had written as a child.

Snoopy Katie found it when Sawyer returned from the raft and read it. Sawyer made her read it aloud. Can't remember what episode it's in but it was read completely.

It's in Episode 1.08, "Confidence Man."

And I agree with those of you that think that Ben totally conned Locke again, using EyelinerGuy, but I don't think that he sent Rousseau down there. She doesn't work for anybody--my money is on some plan to get Alex back. That was the last time we saw her.

Whatever plan Jack and Juliet are working on will get ruined by Locke's tape.

I think it was ruined by the fact that Juliet asks Jack if they should tell her right in front of Kate. Is she purposely trying to ruin it because that was just stupid. I hoped Kate would say "tell me what?" after Jack left, then yank her shoulder out of the socket again until she spilled it.
I wonder who Cindy had to kill?

I guess we know what they watch now.
And once again I don't know whether to love or hate Locke, but his character is almost always interesting.

I like my Locke crazy and unpredictable like in S1.
While he had a point about not being behind the trigger that killed James' mum and dad, what kind of stupid-ass MOCKS the man about how his mother begged him to take her away from her crap life etc?

He may have known his son didn't have it in him to kill, but he sure misjudged Sawyer. After seeing what a completely revolting man RealSawyer was, I would think he would want to dump that name and go back to James.

Love that Sayid is instantly skeptical of any newcomer. He's apparently the only one of them that has learned anything.
Ditto, which makes me think he's not long for this world. Can't have too many logical, intelligent people on the island.

Rousseau made me laugh tonight. Wonder what she's going to blow.

Oh, and the whole denying of the post-coital Sawyer snuggles? Rude! She really doesn't love him, it was all post-traumatic sexy caged-heat syndrome.
However, (more speculation):Once he dies, she is so going to be hatching Sawyer the Third. After that episode with Baby Mama #1 and all the recent super-sperm activity, it's a done deal.

I can just imagine how gleeful the writers were with that whole Black Rock scene:
Locke: Rousseau.
Rousseau: Locke.
Locke: What brings you here?
Rousseau: (all nonchalant) Oh, just picking up some dynamite.
Locke: Crate's in the corner.

Brilliant and hilarious.

Looks like Ben was setting up Locke to lose whatever tie it is Locke has with the island, in a way. If purity is so important to the Others, Locke's killing his father in order to avenge himself seems too evil to pass muster. He wouldn't be 'one of them' anymore. Good way for Ben to still remain top dog in terms of island-power, but have Locke as a useful tool within the society.

But Ben was also putting a lot of trust in Locke by telling him of Juliet's mission. Either he was sure Locke wouldn't tell, or he didn't care if Locke did. Something is going to go down, but it must have to do with more than pregnant women.

I guess the point of writing Kate as such a pathetic tattletale is to set up her choosing between Sawyer and Jack for the umpteenth time, when Sawyer returns with the tape recorder and reveals Juliet's secret. Then Jack can say "but we have a secret plan! it's really secret! trust me against all the evidence!"

And why are the Others moving around every episode? I would be pissed at Ben too if he made me leave hot water and electricity for permanent camping.

Josh Holloway deserves the Emmy for his performance tonight. It was gut wretching. Terry O'Quinn deserves an Emmy too.

Amen. Though I don't want them both to be nominated, because then they will cancel each other out. Phenomenal performances. And for all his creepiness-yet-appeal, the actor who plays Ben deserves acting accolades as well. He has been wonderful all season.

I found it very off-putting that the kids were there for the sacrifice of Locke's father.

Loved the scene with Rousseau. Great to see the weird Black Rock again too. A dash of smiling Desmond. All in all, a great episode.

So what do we make of Naomi's claim that the ENTIRE plane was found and all of the bodies were inside?

Lies? Massive coverup?

Very interesting and quite possible.

Wasn't James' original Season One letter written on 1982 World's Fair stationary from Knoxville, Tennessee? Not notebook paper?

Am I being nitpicky? I'll go away if I am.

Yes, Sawyer's letter was read aloud in Season 1, but for those of us with faulty memory and who haven't bought the DVD, it would have been nice to hear the whole thing again.

I must be crazy (supported by the fact that no one else has mentioned this) but I could have SWORN that there was an Other milling around in the background that looked just like Dr. Shephard Sr. He was especially noticible in the background during the scene where Ben is telling Locke that they're all packing up to leave but that he can't come.

Anyone else notice? No? Just me? Ok then.

RealSawyer was acting pretty darn strangely the whole time, seeming to try to deliberately goad first Locke and then Sawyer into killing him, almost as if he was working hand in hand with Ben to try to lure them to the dark side. It doesn't even quite make sense if he thinks he's in Hell. I'm wondering if somehow, he could be a true believer working with the Others. Don't ask me how they could have gotten a self-serving con man to become a devoted solider to their program, especially if they would have had no reason to even approach him before Locke & Sawyer crashed on the Island a couple of months ago, but it wouldn't be the first time recently that we've seen an Other do everything he could to get the Losties to kill him, and that didn't seem to work out all that badly for him, somehow.

But if it were to turn out that "RealSawyer" is working with Ben and everything he says is just part of the scam, there are at least two very interesting things that might suggest. First, while we have to concede that he's Locke's father (unless the flashbacks are all some kind of Island-generated false memories and after all this time we don't really know shit about these people after all), but there's every chance he might not even be the real Sawyer after all.

The other thing is that he repeated the story that they found flight 815 at the bottom of the ocean with all the bodies accounted for. Now that sounds like a bit much for even these Others to be able to fake. Just like it would be a lot easier for Ben to just falsely claim that Juliet's sister's cancer had returned and then show her a tape of her alive & well & tell her he "cured" her rather than to actually give her cancer & then cure her, it would be a lot easier for them to just arrange for someone to just show up from the outside world and tell the Losties that their plane with all their dead bodies onboard had been found. But of course that means that parachute girl, who also has the same exact story, is also part of the Others' nefarious plot.

And I'm sorry, but I haven't been closely following all these threads so I don't know how much this has been discussed before this week, but the question that's really been bugging me for the past month is why are the Losties still living at the beach? Why haven't they all moved into the Others' nice comfy recently abandoned bungalows?

For those that want it, here's Sawyer's letter in it's entireity:

Dear Mr. Sawyer, you don't know who I am, but I know who you are and I know what you've done. You had sex with my mother, and then you stole my dad's money all away, so he got angry, and he killed my mother, and then he killed himself, too. All I know is your name, but one of these days I'm going to find you, and I'm going to give you this letter, so you'll remember what you've done to me. You killed my parents, Mr. Sawyer.

Also, to clear up another nitpick--in that same episode, Sawyer was about to burn the letter with his lighter, but then changed his mind.
