So great. Junior running the game. Junior writing to Cheney. And most of all, Paulie's white shoes. Chase is going out at the top of his game.

Wow, the Godfather allusions are coming fast and furious now, aren't they?

Poor Junior.

Young Asian man with severe anger management problems and a history of gunplay.

Unfortunate timing, to say the least.

However one of the greatest, most operatic episodes of the series - a horrifying look back; and the future promises only decay, a loss of dignity, and inevitable death.

For those who were confused about casting, Ken Leung plays Carter, the kid who is in the same mental institution as Junior. Different person than the guy who plays gthe Cleaver director. An additional note: Junior tends to call him "Anthony," which is not the character's name, but is an interesting comment on their relationship.

What possible good does it do for Tony to "get out of town"? He's got to come home eventually, and if the feds have a case against him, they can wait as long as it takes. Also, all of a sudden Tony has a gambling problem? He's never had one for seven years.

I am starting to think that Tony may have the early stages of some type of mental disorder. He was acting so strange this episode. NOTHING HAPPENED. If it weren't the for the fact that I love Paulie and Jun this might qualify as the worst episode ever!

Three things I wanna discuss:

1 What did Tony say exactly about his Dad, that he didn't know if his dad was proud of him? He also seemed to get depressed when beansie and Paulie discussed the old days, why?

2 What were the reasons that Tony considered whacking Paulie? Besides his talkative nature and the fact that he might have told Johnny about the joke, there must have been something else but I'm missing it.

3 What did Paulie mean when he said "when it's my time will I stand up"? Was he asking whether or not he'll remain loyal if the feds try and flip him?

"Remember your sunblock." Think Tony ever told Carm about the skin cancer?

So what was the bit about Jackie Aprile? Had the cops decided that he was responsible for the body?

Really great episode tonight. There were so many funny moments/touches (Paulie's shoes) and yet it was an incredibly depressing episode. The whole part on the boat was very tense, just a virtual knot in the stomach. And of course Junior at then end with the cat was heartbreaking. Amazing episode tonight.

Thought the episode was great, but I have question. Did Johnny Sack ever reveal to Tony that it was Paulie who told him about the joke, or did Tony figure it out? I forget. And was Tony trying to get Paulie to confess so that he had a reason to whack him?

Was that meant to show how far he had deteriorated? A once proud mob boss now finding companionship with a cat?

a horrifying look back; and the future promises only decay, a loss of dignity, and inevitable death.

Can we go over that, what exactly signified those things?

Maybe it's me, but it seemed like there were a couple of "Godfather" shout outs:

1)Tony admiring his tomatoes in the garden (like the ones Don Corleone admires just before having a heart attack)
2) the NY shooting of I-can't-remember-his-name in the street (as when Corleone got shot in the street).

If that was really the intent, it's especially interesting following the Godfather-like christening in "Stage 5."

Also, I thought the flashback to Big Pussy's death was heavy handed. We all knew Paulie was worried about getting whacked when Tony suggested they go deep sea fishing -- did it need to be so explicit?
