» Things That Truly Weren't Fair

I thought Jade should have gone home over Furonda, frankly. Jade was badgered over her bad attitude incessantly. She was in the bottom two before that three times, I think, every time for her attitude/personality, and dragging her along to the final three when everyone knew she had no chance in hell of winning was just cruel. Yes, she made good television. Yes, she took good photos, for the most part. But Tyra would never let a 26 year old win, even if she wasn't above putting one on the show, and given how her personality was constantly harped upon, with no signs of a redemption arc, it was clear at that point that no matter how much she changes her attitude and no matter how well she performs, Jade would never win, or even make the top two, and she was there purely for entertainment value, which was unfair to Jade. I'm no fan of Jade, but she was pretty much a joke during the entire competition, much like Kelle, and I felt bad for her, even if she was in fact awesome television.

The difference between Kelle and Jade is that Kelle was being humiliated and treated unfairly by the judges and Jay. Jade was just embarassing herself with her behavior.

had one of the strongest portfolio's in ANTM history.

Her portfolio would have been just fine, IMO, had it not been for her horrendous Bloated Fairytale, Squinty, Batlike Ice Queen and Taylor Hanson OP Bikini. Those photos are crimes against modelling.

Yeah I have trouble when it comes to Jade. Usually the house bitch is rid of or goes through a redemption arc about halfway through. Jade did neither because she was legimately a kick ass model. Great pictures, strong personality. Yes, she was a bitch and had a huge attitute problem, but I don't think that Tyra and Co. kept her in the competition for the entertainment value. I think they kept her in because she had an incredibly unique look (which in my opinion, helped greatly because at 26, you could write her off as "old", but she didn't really look "old", just different), was damn fierce, and could possibly reach a point where she realized what a uberbitch she was and change.

I think when it hit the final 3 and she still had no signs of changing her attitude and she was faced with competition that took pictures that were as high of quality, or in some cases of higher quality, as her own and had the sparkling personalities, she was the weakest link.

I don't think Jade was a joke. Well, yes, Jade was a joke. In the personal, living conditions, relationship-aspect of the show, yes. But in the competition, she wasn't a joke.

Her portfolio would have been just fine, IMO, had it not been for her horrendous Bloated Fairytale

If you take away all of the other photos and you were an agency looking at her photo, it doesn't look like a blow up doll. By itself, it looks like a playful, light-hearted picture.

Squinty, Batlike Ice Queen

I don't think it was necessarily squinty. I mean [Jade]the eye makeup was really difficult to work with[/Jade] and she was just giving a normal fierce look and the makeup made her eyes smaller.

and Taylor Hanson OP Bikini.

Eh. Not an incredible shot, but not terrible. She looked great in the suit and her expression was pretty serene, if not blank.

Those photos are crimes against modelling.

After eight cycles of hamsters, I'd hardly say that those were crimes against modelling.

I do agree that Jade a)was a great model and b)had strong, unique features. However, seeing as Tyra puts to much emphasis on personality, I don't see why she was kept around for so long. Look at Brandy - she was completely beautiful once you took away the clown hair, and very modelesque. She was eliminated before Noelle, who was a complete mess, and Lluvy, who had striking features and was great post-show but couldn't take a good picture while on it, just for having an attitude problem. One could argue that if Brandy didn't threaten to actually hit Tatiana, she would have been saved, but I don't think so. Lisa, who like Jade was received by the judges as a good model, was eliminated for being arrogant, and Lisa didn't have a history of being in the bottom two for being a bitch the way Jade had. Cycle 6 is actually particularly guilty of being all about personality - Mollie Sue, whom I don't like but took good pictures, and Leslie, who was exotic, beautiful and took fantastic pictures, were both eliminated for not showing enough personality. And by the top five, after being called out on it numerous times, it was pretty clear Jade just wasn't able to, or wasn't willing to, change her attitude.

I wouldn't have as big of a problem with this - Jade certainly deserved to be in the top three - if Tyra was more consistent. And I know I'm out of my mind to expect consistency from Tyra, but a guy can dream.

I kind of have a mixed opinions on whether Jade should have been in the final 3. Her age and attitude should have been a factor for an earlier elimination for her, but she did take good photos.

Sara was easily my favorite that season and I would have to agree that she did have one of the strongest portfolios in ANTM history. As much as I liked her I didnt think she was "developed" enough as a model to make the final three...I pretty much new she would be eliminated on that episode.

Has anyone else noticed that the girl who does better on the runway ALWAYS seems to gets runner-up??..well, with the exception of cycle 6 and 8...

Also, I dont know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but I was shocked by Brittany's elimination on C8. How could they keep Dionne over her? Her portfolio alone should have saved her whether she was yelling about the cab driver or not..I thought she had so much model potential that its not even funny.....It's always the guest judge that messes everything up....

And Cycle 5, remember? Twiggy said Nik's walk was too bouncy. IMO, of course it would be bouncy. Nik had breasts. Compared to Nicole, who was basically flat-chested, so Nicole didn't have anything to bounce.

I loved Nik's runway walk, which might be unpopular. I liked the bounce.

I don't know what shocking about Brittany's elim. The entire go-see challenge but especially the meltdown after the go-sees outside where she could be heard by the folks inside pretty much sealed her fate no matter how greedy Dionne may have come off looking.

C8 Brittany was eliminated because, in spite of her strong portfolio, she couldn't book a job. Plus, throwing that fit right outside of Priscilla's was obnoxious and unprofessional. I mean, up until the go-see challenge, I fully believed Brittany should win C8, but after that, I agreed with the judges. After all, Dionne with her bad posture, crappy walk, inconsistent, mediocre portfolio and asking the designers to keep the clothes, still got some designers to book her.

I think it was a combination of Brittany not really clicking with the designers and the stress of not being able to find the places in a timed competition. I mean, I truly believe that Brittany could book a job in a real go-see, because a) there would be no time constraints. b) there would be no cameras. c) there would not be a bunch of stress because she's competing on a reality show.

Go-sees are most definitely a timed thing. You don't have all day to go to them. Plus Brittany's walk is probably the most terrible walk of all time. Not even ANTM history, but of all time...

Well, let's give credit where credit's due here. Not only could C8 Brittany at least manage to not tumble on her face every time she walked, the fact that she had a bad walk wasn't really her fault after she WON THE WALKING CHALLENGE. That's like giving your dog a treat for pissing on the rug.

That was actually really unfair to her. I mean, if no one told her the truth about her walk until the go sees, and she even won the walking challenge, how was she supposed to improve?
