I agree. I also agree with the Kenneth from "30 Rock" comparisons. Here's what it sounded like to me:
Have you ever had a seriously emotional argument with someone right before you had to make a "public" appearance somewhere, or watched someone who did - like having it out in a car before going in to see the family, or in a parking lot before dinner with people one doesn't know very well. There's a screaming, unresolved rage behind the words, but on top is a strangled and forced cheeriness, with the emphasis on the wrong words and ending sentences where they almost sound like questions. I imagine this occurs become there's an emotional disconnect between the social situation and the real emotions roiling underneath.
I'm not implying that Todd Oldham is barely holding back some rage issues. Just that his weird vocal delivery sounds like he is. I'm sure he's nothing more than the happy, cheery, supportive muppet we've been shown.
