» Todd Oldham: The Host With the Most
Network Executive

Meet Todd Oldham, famous designer, House of Style alum, and this show's Tim Gunn. Dissect his every utterance here.

Does anyone remember when Todd Oldham (and Isaac Mizrahi) did these Home Shopping Network-type things through Nick and Nite? Back when Nick at Nite was actually classic TV, and not relentless episodes of Roseanne and Fresh Prince?

Maybe it's just me, but Todd O was not looking so good in his cameo appearance. Maybe he just more airbrushed and touched up in Todd Oldham for Lazy Boy commercials.

No! Not that voice! I think he has this show confused with an acting job. And what's with the rubberface, has he had work done? His plastic surgeon should be shot.

Is he trying to be Tim Gunn? Because seriously, Todd, just give it up. No one can be Tim Gunn except for Tim Gunn.

Also, I can tell that his voice is going to get super old, super fast.

He seems adorable and I sort of want him to hook up with Tim Gunn, but his voice is a little weird. It's a little too up and down.

Upon hearing his voice, I was waiting for Todd to tell me how to get to Nordstrom's and not to spit off the side of the escalator. I think it will take some getting used to. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with the show long enough to do so.

I liked the little pep talk he gave the dismissed designers, it was a nice touch and it certainly seemed like the only genuine emotion he had the entire episode.

But I'll agree with the voice issues. It's a bad sign when you can tell they ADR'd half his "lines." It's like he's the bastard vocal child of Tim Gunn and Padma Lakshmi. Sing-song-y with all the odd inflection.

It felt tour-guide-like.

I don't think Tim is looking be anybody's Daddy. (Is that the kind of hook-up you meant?) Maybe he could teach Toddy about speaking in public, though.

He talked like Mickey Mouse!

I found him oddly horrible and adorable at the same time. Its like, he's not a real person, but something Bravo bred.

He only does that horrible inflection when he's reciting the scripted intros.

I found him quite personable when he was just talking to contestants.

He looks ... different. I remember him from House of Style, and maybe that was a long time ago, but something's just not quite right.

And his cadence was very tourguide-ish, but I'm putting it down this just being a new thing for him. I think (hope!) he'll get more relaxed as the series goes on.

He was more relaxed when it was just him and the designers. Is it stage fright maybe?

And I love that he's not a judge. I hope we'll get to hear more of the constructive criticism bits in future episodes.

I wanted to like this show so much, but then there's Todd Oldham...he's unwatchable and makes Katie Lee Joel seem natural on camera. I don't care about his funny tan or the fact that he looks like he has no front teeth when the camera shoots him from below, but I do want a host to at least seem as if he/she isn't reading a script from cue cards.
