I haven't seen mention of this yet. But the commercial for Yaz birth control pills. HAAAaaaate!!!! There are four women sitting around in a club or restaurant or something (for some reason it looks like they're sitting on some stairs) And one brings up this Yaz birthcontrol pill. Which...okay?

I hate that commercial for the same reasons you do. The smug doctor chick is the worst. I do like laughing at the obligatory black friend though, only because she looks like Michael Jackson.

Gah, why do people insist on putting Anna Kournikova on commercials (at least, I think it's her on this commercial I just saw...)? She always looks so, so smug, and I just saw her in a Nike commercial where everyone is singing "I Feel Pretty" as she walks by, practically glaring at everyone! Yeah, I get that she's supposed to be tough and competitive, but I hate that everyone's so awestruck by her smarmy, rude face.

That is not Anna Kournikova - it's Maria Sharapova.

And I kinda like the commercial - she's ignoring the choruses of everyone just saying she's pretty and actually delivering on the court. She's kind of the anti-Kournikova in that she gets all these endorsement deals, but is really a great tennis player who has already accomplished a lot more (actually winning titles and a Grand Slam) than Kournikova ever did.

After reading this and watching the commercial again. I'm wondering if they were indirectly making fun of Anna. Or maybe she was trying to get people to stop thinking she's just another "Anna Kournikova" and she's only getting attention for her looks. That maybe why at the end they stopped singing and realized she could actually play.

Shut up, Katie Couric. I hate her "look how earnest I am! Won't I make a spectacular anchorwoman?" advertisement.

Ha ha. No. Who decided that she would head the news team? Was it because sometimes she made a frowny face when she interviewed someone on Today?

I've watched CBS News since I was but a wee lassie. Now it's "hello there, Brian Williams."

Who should just go away now? Jon Lovitz, in the Subway commercials. Not that I hate him, but I'm starting to find it hard to believe that a couple of months ago (it seems longer) I did a post about how funny I found him and the commercials.

It was true at the time, before I'd seen the same 4 or 5 ads over and over and over and over. Oh, and over. I mean, some of them are cute, but they're not exactly the zenith of wit. Actually, only the first couple were mildly amusing, the rest (like the unfed zombies, the man-whose-food-falls-out-of-the-cupboard) aren't even a little bit funny. John L. is a truly funny guy, but enough already. Please, we're Subway-ed out.

But here's the part when I get all crazy angry. One woman says "Er, ok. Wow.(?)" and the verbal diarrhea chick says something along the lines of "Finally putting that medical degree to good use." With this little giggle.
Really? This is what years of study and possibly hundred of thousands of dollars or debt have brought you to? You can recite the "warnings and directions for use" section of any medication?

The scream-inducing part for me is when she euphemistically swarms "it can even help with that time of the month." She's a doctor! She can recite package inserts! She can probably describe explosive diarrhea in detail, but she can't say menstruation or period or any other MFing option. I'm surprised she didn't mention "female troubles."

Heh. I just saw the Yaz ad again and noticed there's a fairly lengthy section in the middle of the Fake Doctor Warning Rant where the shot is mainly of the back of her head with her hair pulled forward to completely obscure her face. I guess you can only do so many takes of a ditzy actress screwing up doctor talk before you say, "Fuck it, turn your back to the camera, bimbo, and we'll wing it."

It's not a person, but that brownie-thing on legs in the pizza ad? Needs to go away and never come back. It does what I thought until recently was impossible: Makes me lose my appetite for chocolate.

Especially after it leaves its gooey mess all over everyone and every thing it touches. Looks gross! Just ewwww!

I hate that Yaz commercial, for the above reasons, and one more: I live near Boston, and "Yaz" does NOT mean birth control to most of us up here!

Oh, and I hear "Eat Flesh!" every time Lovitz says the Subway slogan. Seriously- if there's a shirt out there that says that, be SURE your spokesman doesn't!

I went to Subway for lunch today and that was all I could think. I ate my sandwich anyway. But I grimaced a little while doing so.

That commercial really is disgusting. It looks like the chocolate block smeared feces on everyone. There's too much of a Mr. Hanky thing going on. I second (third?) your ewwww!

I too find the "I Feel Pretty" Maria Sharapova ads annoying. The idea that we're supposed to notice Maria's talent and skill would be much more convincing if it weren't obvious she's being featured because she's a 6 foot blonde beauty. Is it her talent that convinces companies like Nike to feature her or her beauty? Imagine that same ad with Amelia Mauresmo, an equally talented tennis player. It's not going to happen.

My first thought was, "Why did they name it after an '80s band?"
