Nah, im still not convinced that there wont be a tibette reunion, whether its gonna be a hasty affair or a whole season(6)of them getting together and staying put is another matter. IC will make most of her award winning actress by pairing her with the ''star'' for as long as possible, but this relationship is all about Bette changing (trying ?), (Jodie too, so her character will probably evolve with someone else). We'll get a similar situation to s1 with Bette's dilemma while Tina will be on the other side of the spectrum (the irony.everpresent) It gives an oh so convenient opportunity, so we will probabaly see, a tibette where its all about the rekindling of passion/attraction, (like the first stages of the falling in love that we never saw )...it will be more juicy 'cause it will be illicit. The viewers clamoured for a solid relationship, No cheating....man, IC does have a wicked sense of humor! Bette will be in the same sorry place that she's been for 4 seasons, Tina will be getting all the fun :)(with or without Bette i hope), and Jodie will see and know, and she will send Bette packing back to Tina but not before briefing her on how it ought to be done! *Maybe*

It would be logical (head) for Bette to go back to her original life plan and have the family she'd planned for. Logical for her to do the best thing for her daughter. She does love Tina - she loves her a lot. This would be a good life. I'm afraid that her heart however is really tied up in what she can't have or control (heart) - the person who doesn't actually make sense for her to choose. Jodi~~~ Cannonball

Cannonball after I thought about this statement and what has occured I just don't see it. Bette has been working overtime on her relationship with the NSFA. But not because she wanted to, but because she was pushed to by Tina, Phylis, and Joyce. More than once Bette was going to wash her hand of Jodi but was pushed to continue. Remember when Phylis said "what are you going to do to get her back Bette" Bette has this look of bewilderment on her face. Then she goes to see Tina and Tina pushes her in more than 1 conversation to continue with Jodi. So to me, I saw Bette's heart kept telling her enough is enough, Jodi isn't worth it, but then people kept filling her head with the opposite.

the reality is that what our hearts want don't always make sense. Sure it would be easy for Bette to go back to Tina. ~~~Cannonball

I agree that what are heart wants doesn't always make sense. Bette's heart is with Tina, and in all honesty it doesn't make sense, because of what they went through, but I disagree that it would be easy for Bette to be with Tina, they have gone through alot and have alot of things to work through.

I believe like winter said that TiBette will reunite, but it may very well be at the very end, depending upon further seasons. Jodi was brought in to teach Bette about herself and the funny part is that it has been Tina that has actually taught Bette not Jodi. But Tina wouldn't have been able to accomplish this if Jodi never came along. All through season 4 Bette has been using her head, telling herself that she must make this relationship work, at all costs, so she didn't feel/look like a failure again. And when Bette goes to Tina (porch talk) to vent her feelings and confusion, Tina pushes her towards Jodi. Bringing it up repeatedly during the conversation. Bette is going to listen to/do whatever Tina says, Tina tells her to persue Jodi. Bette persues Jodi, Tina tells her to do something spectacular for Jodi. Bette does something spec.....er um...well you get the idea. What I found most telling was the last 2 minutes of the season. Bette hours from her *cough* tractor pull calls Tina. She was calling Tina for an out..IMO, if Tina told her out right that she loved her and wanted her back or told her she was crazy and shouldn't go through with it. Bette would have been out that door so fast, Jodi would have seen nothing but tractor dust. But Tina is abstract with what she says and you see this on Bette's face she doesn't know if Tina was saying it to her or not, so Bette calls for an out but instead was just left more confused.
So in season 5 rumor has it that Bette tells Tina she wuvs Jodi...awwww..not. But Bette has to say she loves Jodi or a triangle wouldn't work, there would be no contest (not that I see a contest, but anyway) but from other spoilers out, in episode 11 Jodi decides to fight for Bette...hmm well if Bette was so in-wuv with her she would have nothing to fight for.

My question is what is going to occur to make Tina persue Bette? Does Tina find out all the screwed up shit Jodi was doing to Bette? Going back to last season, every time Bette was going to tell Tina what Jodi was doing they were interupted.

ETA: About IC being smitten with MM, I do see this too, but I also see she is smitten with JB, and it didn't stop her from putting Bette through the ringer for 3+ seasons. So I really don't see that as a factor, on how the story will playout

Bette was devoted to her father, who was renowned in whatever his field was, and also a cheater. Bette is following in his footsteps, and will have to decide if she will abondon her soulmate (Tina) as her father did (her mother). She saw the deep regret her father had on his deathbed; the question is if she will remember and learn from it. IMHO, of course.~play
I agree this makes the most sense in light of the relationship we saw in season 1 and 2 but then in seasons 3 Tina after coming back with the baby to her " hooome" left Bette emotionally and then left her to explore her sexual interest in men and then they had to deal with the babynapping and find a way back to parenthood partner ship is season 4. Yes they still seem to have feelings for one another and we saw jealousy and resignation on both of their parts ( and if MM had been hot we might have understood the Jodi pull) but even I a loyal Tibetter am not sure that Melvin's behaviour with Bette's mom will really be the crux of anything with these two any more. For one thing I don't think the writers and this includes IC even think about the storyarc from the beginning any more - they wing it and that seems to be the sad truth of how the Lwork lost it's way IMO.

Linda100-Of course, we love that you’re passionate about the show and understand that you’re curious to know what’s coming up in season 5, but please try to be fair and not jump to conclusions or read between the lines of what someone's absence might mean for the course of the show, as they're entirely separate.

This statement from them actually gives me hope that Tina and Bette are going to be reunited. IC and Company seem worried at what the viewers are speculating is going to happen in Season 5. Maybe they have been reading some of the posts that I have where people are wondering whether to watch or not if they really think that Bette is going to choose Jodie.

I'd love to think that their statement is indicative of the outcome of S5. However, I think its more that they are afraid fans aren't going to watch seeing how they released some footage clearly showing JoBette together in E8 plus all the sprack points to the fact that Bette is with the NSFA until E12. Bette "loves" her. She takes the fall for some gun thing for Bette. She is everywhere in the S5 sprack. Clearly, this is upsetting a large faction of the OurChart supports because there is a big TiBette base the only 5 times I've visited. Therefore, I guess I'm saying I wouldn't put it past them to insinuate for people who are unhappy to "wait and see" what the season brings to try to soothe some upset fans regardless of whether or not the plan following through on the show. Stringing along TiBetters is an art that IC and Co. have perfected. If they aren't together at the end of S5 and there is a S6 I'm absolutely positive the same thing will go on during the hiatus next season.

Thank you for posting the blurb about Laurel and OurChart. Interesting. Does anyone have any further information to explain what that was all about? I have only read a few interviews with the cast, primarily Laurel. From these I find her to be an endearing mix of warm, honest, and real. From the little I know, she has consistently been very accessible and giving with her fans and the show. And from hearing what some of the fans are like, I give all the actors who are so generous and available a lot of credit .

Just curious why the statement from OurChart, and why Laurel is choosing to not be a part of it (this season?) when heretofore she has been so available to promote the show and interact with the fans (as have others of course). Not the biggest question there is, but the statement does make me curious. I appreciate any insight anyone wants to share since I am really out of this loop.

On edit: rereading the blurb, they suggest that it's related to privacy and downtime. That is quite understandable and probably all there is to it. My dial-up is grateful.

What I'm really looking forward to this season is seeing JB/Bette back in rare form, as IC has suggested before on that other site. I'm looking forward to seeing some reminders of S1 & S2 Bette. Brang on the hawtness.

First of all, DITTO. Secondly, say the fuck what? When did IC suggest that, cause that's something I'd love to hear more about. JB's cut screen time during S3 (due to pregnancy) and S4 (due to overgrown cast and death of Tibette) disappointed me as a Bette fan. I really do not need to watch Max fuck in ways I want to erase from my memory for 20 minutes while Bette has a 0.02 second encounter in a car. I don't think it's right, but since Laurel was practically dropped out of S4, it's hard to complain about that. It seems IC is busy at OC mostly addressing upset Laurel fans or Shane fans or whoever.

So that little blurb from OC suggests that Laurel chooses not to do a vblog? LMAO. I guess she's visited the site and knows what's up.

Thanks for updates and such, Linda.

What? You mean the milk cartons? Why would anyone be disturbed by their fans making milk carton images with their photo on them?! I'm sure we'll still get a vblog with Laurel answering the first impressions question. I think the post was referring to the vblog at the Hammer museum with the "cool" ones. Meh. Good call, Laurel!

Hey Frick :)
Seriously though it makes more sense to me to have a tibette reunion, and its Not wishful thinking on my part.
Its not just about whos in love with who. The representation of the masculine and feminine traits that were intrinsic in the characters from the beginning, the influence of Melvin upon Bette, the lack of the female figure in her upbringing. If one looks at Tina's journey and evolving, it embodies the paradigm of the woman in a relationship, the loss of the self, the search for autonomy. What does Jodie represent with her notions on children and monogamy ...? In ep 11 we saw Jobette's inability or unwillingness to reach through the invisible wall/the gap that was erected after the fight in ep10...the ego/unyielding... theyre too similar to be compatible...compare those Jodie/Bette scenes to the Bette and Tina scene on the steps, the close-ups, the intimacy.... the implication in the comparison is that the relationship between Bette and Tina would never have survived a few weeks if Tina was similar to either Bette or Jodie or didnt embody the female approach by sacrificing (if you will) the ego or the self for the greater good of the relationship. Bette is trying to change her behaviour, for the sake of the relationship with the more masculine Jodie, getting tips from Tina, listening...Tina has been in a relationship with a man that had her in a less traditional female role then was her role in tibette's relationship. Reading tibette in this vein, they are closer to the goal of their becoming a good match/fit then they ever were, personal developement moved them more towards each other then apart, ''dialogue'' between them more balanced, the respective contrasting masculine/female energies more androgynous.

bfan, I agree with a lot of what you say, they have both made some boneheaded moves along the way. And sadly, the storyarc breaks from season to season. <sigh> Bette's MelvinDNA is just the basis - he modeled for her how to be controlling, and I think Bette finds it difficult to live in a true partnership because she just hates to compromise. It's going to be hard for her to stay with anyone, period, unless she can acquire this skill. If not, she's gonna find a reason to leave everyone, unless the person is okay being overruled all the time. Which Tina put up with in part of S1.
I'm starting to brace myself for disappointment. Again.

New poster here. Been lurking quite a bit...

Tigerlady, ITA, and with entusiasm, on your take on the mind vs. heart ordeal. Still, I can't help but get the IC chill down my spine when I think of the "twists" that might be in store for S5...

Actually, it would appear that both the Wrap podcast and the Q anyone sessions were done on the same day at the Hammer. At least as far as MM's (you can see the preview at the end of LH's latest QA podcast) and KM's (wearing the same clothes as in Wrap Hammer podcast) are concerned. And, since Laurel Holloman was not on call for that scene (as officially confirmed on the Hammer podcast thread by IC), that would exempt her from participating in both podcasts... And this is where I find the moderator post a bit suspicious, because, IMO, it would have been much easier to simply reaffirm what IC had stated to justify Laurel's absence from the podcast/s. Whereas mentioning the "privacy" consideration ends up adding fuel to the fire instead of putting rumors to rest.

Yup. My only "want" as a viewer is out with the tentative, begging, sad sack Bette, and in with the more secure Bette. Bette is an emotional beast and I love that about her and that will never change. And I don't or won't mind watching her struggle to sort out all of these relationship minefield issues but only if it comes from a position of strength versus weakness. Maybe having two senoritas actively interested and vying for her affection will cause Bette to tilt her pimp hat just a little more HuggyBear sideways over one eye. I dunno. But I'm with you Hawtsawce. I'm clicking my glass with yours for a hot ass Bette Porter toast. Cheers.

I'm perfectly fine at this point of the series and at this point of the entertainment narrative with the events that have led up to S5 for Bette's story line regarding her love interests. If and when Tina and Bette get back together it has to mean something and be worth something. Based on the story being told over the last 4 seasons it really can be a meaningful reunion and I'm still in to see how it all plays out for Bette.

I'm sure we'll still get a vblog with Laurel answering the first impressions question. ~ frickingfrack

Actually, my interpretation of the OC Editor's post was that Laurel didn't participate in any of the recent so-called podcasts, including the first-impressions Q&A. It's hard to know exactly which one she was referring to though, since it was posted in the If You Could Ask Ilene 1 Question thread (with the heading, About These Podcasts), instead of in the comments for the Q&A podcast, or the comments for the Kate/Leisha/Mia/Rose/Marlee podcast on location at the Hammer Museum. I got the feeling that since it was posted in the If You Could Ask Ilene ... thread, the editor was taking it upon herself (or, at IC's direction) to answer in the thread that IC usually posts in, for whatever reason you might want to infer. And, yes, it does seem to me, elsewhere, that they might have just left well enough alone and let IC's previous post about Laurel not being in the scene that day at the Hammer Museum speak for why she wasn't in that podcast, except it doesn't explain why she isn't going to be in the first-impressions podcast, if she isn't, because I don't think it was absolutely necessary to tape those on the same day they taped the one at the Hammer Museum. Kate's and Leisha's were indoors, and it's hard to tell where they were (even though, as you point out, Kate was wearing the same clothes in both). I could be wrong, and she might be in the next podcast -- the one right after MM and (I think) Clementine Ford (who, by the way, is wearing different clothes and different hair than she was wearing in the Kate podcast -- indicating it's a different day/location). And, BTW, frickingfrack, I sorta thought the "Have You Seen Me?" milk cartons with Laurel's face on them were kinda clever, but I can see where one might be a little disturbed by that ...

Sadly, I think it will be just the opposite. Pimp hat will come in handy when she runs out of tissues. I'm expecting crysmiles galore!

Ooh, behave! :) Must remember to return to page 1700 every time I read shitty sprack. Thank you!

Anyone else find this really really funny? No? Just me? Fine. Carry on.
