» Ratings & Scheduling: Like Reading Tea Leaves
Stalker

Feb 1, 2006 @ 1:33 pm
I thought it'd be better to have a seperate thread for ratings and scheduling. I'm glad that the WB is putting Supernatrual after Smallville. I've said countless times that the two shows are very compatible and it would make more sense than Supernatural with GG or Smallville with Everwood. Finally the network uses common sense.

Manddoo posted the ratings for Vengeance in the Media thread.

From: MediaWeek
"Over at the WB the Thursday news remained positive, with Smallville at a 4.2/ 6 in the overnights (#4), 5.07 million viewers (#5) and a 2.3/ 6 among adults 18-49 (#5) at 8 p.m., followed by Beauty and the Geek at a 3.5/ 5 in the overnights (#5), 4.42 million viewers (#5) and a 2.1/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#5) at 9 p.m. Both series are likely to continue next season on the CW"

An hour of "That '70s Show" on FOX edged The WB's "Smallville," 3.3/5, for fourth"

That's so weird how That 70's Show is beating Smallville. I never found that show funny.

That show is still on? Wow, I really do live in a bubble.

wow, i hadn't heard about the moving Supernatural to behind SV. That's awesome. And yeah, I totally agree, they seem like they'd have a chance if they were paired up.

A small qualm I have about Supernatural is the lack of female characters (I know why they don't have them but still) but other than that I'm ready to give it the chance I never gave Everwood.

I actually like the fact that there's no female regular on Supernatural. It makes it stand out from all the other shows on the WB. It makes me feel like I'm safe from the annoying love triangles that plague the channel. Plus, a girl would just take time away from the prettiness of the Winchester Brothers.

Hasn't Smallville been beating That 70's Show in the ratings in previous weeks? I was kind of hoping for a significant ratings drop this week, because of my serious problems with what "Reckoning" did to the characterization of Clark Kent, but I'm not surprised that there wasn't one. On the surface "Reckoning" was a really good episode.

ETA: Why is there no episode on the last Thursday in February? What are they airing instead? I'm assuming it's not a repeat since it's still sweeps.

K-site has different numbers for last night's episode. They are even better.

#4 Four Kings (8:30-9)  NBC 4.9/7 (4.8/7)

#5 Smallville WB 4.2/6 (4.4/7)

#6 That 70's Show (8:30-9)  FOX 3.6/5 ® (3.9/6 ®)

#7 That 70's Show (8-8:30)  FOX 3.4/5 (3.7/6)

I'm quite surprise Smallville did so well despite Survivor's new season starting yesterday. Whatever is happening this year, it's really good for the show and it's reflecting on the ratings.

Smallville beat That 70s Show last week, which is no surprise with all the hoopla over the 100th episode, but most weeks it comes in behind FOX though it's been close.

The WB have scheduled a movie (Just Married) for the final Thursday in sweeps. My guess is they don't see the point of putting Smallville up against AI which I think is due for one of two forays onto Thursday that day.

I learned something after I watched tonight's Grey's Anatomy. If Smallville ever got the post-Superbowl slot that episode will have one of the following in its opening scene;

a.Lana modeling various lingerie.

b.Lana and Chloe naked and making out with each other in the shower.

Because football watching males will change the channel otherwise.

That reminds me of when Alias had the post Superbowl slot. All the ads were of Sidney in lingerie, and the opening scene was of her modeling lingerie for some sleazy guy. But the scene ended with her strangling the guy and asking what was wrong with the first one she had on. It was like an indictment of the mindset. Somehow I feel that Smallville would glorify that whole thing. Isn't that why Lois is there?

How could I have forgotten her? How can you do a sleazy opening scene without Lois!?

An hour of "That '70s Show" was fourth in households for FOX, although The WB's "Smallville," 3.1/5, beat it in total viewers. UPN trailed with "Everybody Hates Chris" and "Love, Inc."

I wonder what the viewers number is. Anyone?
