Exciting! If that's true then there won't be too many hiati/whatever the plural of hiatus is.

Specifically from "Boy in the Shroud", the read I got was "kids in foster care suck". It's not an opinion I've ever heard of before either; is it a mutant form of "don't hang out with the street kids"? I remember it being a little off the first run through with this episode, like the show was going with more of an "Ew" instead of "Aw" attitude towards children in the foster system. Maybe it was something they did (badly) to set up the Cam/Bones loggerheads scenario, for otherwise it seems somewhat out of left field.

28 episodes? Whoot! Do you think they might even show them, say, in consecutive weeks?

What other series have 28 episodes? Isn't 23-24 the norm?

Right. There are usually like 22 or so. 28 really seems a lot; not that I am complaining, though...;-) Maybe it's a reading mistake? Given the extra with PuP, there could be 23 episodes and somebody's bad handwriting made it look like 28???? Just guessing.

Aren't they supposed to start shooting the new season in June anyway? Does that mean any day now?

Gel, I think you might be right. The "foster kids suck" theme might have been a plot device to give Brennan and Cam more issues than just work and Booth, something on a more personal level. Maybe that's why they tried to even it out a bit in the Headless Witch (because that's still how I feel about that episode) after they had decided to tone Cam down a bit?

I was reading an interviwe with DB and I came across a very interisting bit of information:
Next season, Boreanaz will have a greater say in these matters: he'll carry a producing credit in addition to his starring role

I was very surprised since I don't recall him ever mentioning that he'd be a producer on S3.
Between this and the spoiler I read for S3 I'm starting to worry.

Source please?

If it is true.... I don't even want to talk about it.

The source for David getting a producer's credit is Emmy Magazine's June issue. Not sure why this would be a bad thing though?? One other thing David said he'd like to do is cast James Garner as Booth's grandfather .. I think that would be great.

Ooooooo. Even if I think I agree with toomanysides about not wanting to talk about DB getting a producer credit (really it's his having producer-level story input that worries me -- if it's just a prestige thing or a step toward directing I have no problem with it at all), even though I would rather have a great 22 episodes and a solid box set rather than 27 of what the PTB were (mainly) giving us this year plus The Episode Fox Couldn't Bother To Show, even if it smells like stunt casting, which is one more step towards that motorcycle ramp right next to the Great Shark Tank of Suckitude... James Garner as Booth's grandfather? Sign me up for some of that! Provided it wasn't just DB talking...

I'm thinking it was also supposed to show how Cam and Booth somehow think alike, further establishing that connection. Unfortunately it made them both seem very close-minded and inflexible. I sure hope real law enforcement officers don't just go around parroting studies and psychology texts while actively ignoring the people and evidence sitting right in front of them.

Jeannie55: That was "You" by Fisher, and I've avoided putting it on my playlist because it reminds me of Sully whom I don't want to be reminded of... ;-)

But it was a "Sully's leaving!" song. Doesn't that count for anything? ;-)

I don't have any issues with DB having greater input. On his commentary track for the Angel episode he directed, "Soul Purpose," he comes across as very knowledgeable about TV, about how shows are put together, the role of the director in interpreting the writer's words, and the role of the camera in storytelling.

I do have an issue with 28 episodes next season. I have to think that that's not true, because there are virtually no drama series that have seasons that are that long anymore. It's really expensive, for one thing, plus a 22 or 23 episode season is completely standard these days, so I'm not understanding why they'd buck that trend. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Well, I'm hopeful it is true. The O.C. first season had 27 episodes and the 3rd had 25. 90210 had a few longer seasons as well. The second season had 28 eps. So there is a bit of a precedent at fox.

I can easily answer the why. There was an increase of 40% or so of repeats (stats from adweek I believe). Reason? New shows are failing to premiere big and are pulled in favor of repeats that rate much higher than an original episode of that new show. Increasing the number of episodes on establish show would lessen its reliance on new midseason shows, and also repeats.

Thanks for the (personally upsetting) info and source, I'm going to take your word for it :). Hope you don't mind if I post it else where, with credit of course.

I don't mind if you repost ... but to be fair I read it at boreanaz.net and on rottentomatoes ... the original source was Emmy Magazine. That's why I quoted the magazine.

My god- this is worse than I thought, might as well rename the show 'Booth' from now on. Almost everything we have heard about Season Three seems to be DB's new found influence with ' more fun interrogation stuff', Booth's family, Couples therapy (again).... Sigh.

I maybe wrong, but I love how DB never talks about anything other than B/B chemistry and his character Booth. Like the show isn't about anything else or anyone else gets credit for the show. He also loves to say Bones is not a procedural, with lots of enthusiasm :P. *vents and walks the border of the recent news territory*

Personally I hope that they get in a lot of new writers and/or producers for season 3. Season 2 has had a lot of poorly written shows, with silly romance plots and the characters acting totally out of character with their season 1 versions. Although there were good bits and pieces here and there, large chunks of the second half of season 2 were practically unwatchable, and focused way too much on everyone's love life. If Boreanaz (or anyone else) can come up with some better ideas, I'm all for it, although I'm not sure that's what his "producer" title means. All I know is that "Bones" went from being an anxiously awaited highlight of my TV week to being something I'd wait to see on DVR so that I could fast forward through the excruciating parts. I blame that on Hart Hanson, because every time I saw an interview or a quote from him he was crowing over something that I thought was plain awful. I really hope that this was all due to the sophomore curse and that they get back on track in season 3.

As for season 3 plots, we've had multiple episodes about Brennan's family/past and next-to-nothing about Booth's. A couple of episodes about his family/past are way overdue. Since the show started, Brennan has had five boyfriends, her father, brother, and even her dead mother on the show. Booth has had 3 girlfriends (only one more than Hodgins), his son, and a couple of scenes with two old army buddies. That's it. That's all we know about his past and family. I want to know more about his family and his army days. Booth fans have waited patiently for two years, so I'm happy that they are finally going to fill us in on some of our burning questions about him. I hope that they do get James Garner to play his grandfather. With two pros like him and Boreanaz, I know that will be a great episode. As for the couples' therapy, most of the fan response to this year's therapy sessions has been positive, so the producers are just giving us more of the same (presumably with Stephen Fry as guest star). I don't mind that, as long as they sprinkle it here and there or limit it to a few episodes. I am cautiously looking forward to season 3, even though I know I'll have to suffer through multiple episodes of lamebrain Angela trying to remember her husband's name and figure out where he is. But at least I can fast forward through that (along with Hodgela's inevitable inappropriate screwing in the workplace) which is a blessing indeed.

I do agree that Booth's family is long overdue, but not at the expense of what the show is... I mean was. I'm all for it, in tiny bits and pieces- if we have a gigantic plot, I'll pass in favor of more squints.

Season one was more about 'Squints who work in a cool lab in a museum, who happen to work on some cases with an FBI agent'. Season two is 'cases that happened to be solved by An FBI Agent and Squints'. :P

Season three? 'FBI who work on cases with Squints.' j/k :P I miss the museum and anthropology stuff. I hate the feel of Bones being more like any other crime procedural (but happens to do more character stuff) but still feels like one. Season one was all pretty with the cool different camera shots and all the pretty colors :).
