Good episode. Anyone know who sings the Chicken Drop song?

Also, and I know this is unrelated, but has anyone ever had a Murphy Bed? I just moved into an apartment with one and it kinda freaks me out. It's an irrational fear but I'm worried it might close up on me when I'm sleeping. Sorry to bring this up here but I don't know a lot of people and I just wondered if anyone else ever had one.

Great episode. The chicken drop things was awesome. I wondered about that AD thing too. There seem to be a lot of hidden things in this show. What is a murphey bed?

Chicken Drop sure looks a lot easier than Bovine Bingo. We used to do that as a fundraiser for FFA with a football field and a cow. And then it ended up going in the middle of two of the squares and we had to figure out which square had the majority of the patty. Ah, good times.

For some reason the line that stuck in my head tonight was, "You want me to make you less gay so you can sleep with more guys?" It was such an Earl way to sum up the situation.

I'm sure the AD references were intentional -- there are a couple of former AD writers who came over to this show and wrote a couple of episodes last season. I'll have to go back and see who wrote this ep.

The chicken drop things was awesome.

"Chickens gotta poop; people gotta bet. It works out real nice." (paraphrased due to bad memory)

Yay for the return of Jonathan Slavin! He was gold at every second, exactly as good as I was hoping when I saw he was in the show. Actually, lots of things were good. I was surprised Earl didn't get the usual sitcom gambling comeuppance of losing his 'unbeatable hot streak' when he put it all on one last bet. MNIE totally fooled me with that one.

Eeeeeeee, does the end mean that we are going to meet Catalina's family?

The little throw-away line about how Joy doesn't use birth control must be the big set-up for JP's pregnancy. I'm glad they are going to write it into the show (or so it appears), rather than have her hide behind stuff.

I was apprehensive in advance, reading the preview capsule about "Earl teaches Kenny to be more manly" (it felt like they were reneging on the gay-friendliness of the Kenny subplots), but the way it turned out was incredibly hilarious and appealing. It's all the fault of Brokeback Mountain! And "You mean, you want me to teach how to act less gay, so you can sleep with more guys? Okay then!"

We're clearly embarked on a long-term episode arc; my main worry is that I hope Earl gets the money to Catalina's family before noon. I'm glad they avoided the cliche of him losing all his money at a crucial moment, but I also want them to avoid the cliche of him missing a momentous deadline.

And I'm loving Marlee Matlin. She's always done pretty well at avoiding the rut of playing only "role models for all deaf people," but this part is especially bitchy and funny. I adore how she uses her interpreter to hit on random men, and gives him his own anger-management issues.

Is it sad that I still love Kadeem Hardison so much so many years after "A Different World" went off the air? As soon as I saw him, the little teenage girl in my brain took over my mouth and yelled out, "Yay! Dwayne Wayne!" Mr. Chyna, pausing the Tivo: "What?"

And Joy laughing at her "deaf accent."

Good ep. Lots of stuff going on.

I figured the Selma Hayek pinata was a jab at Ugly Betty, which runs opposite MNIE. I also loved how Randy fixed up the motel room -- all the bubble wrap on the floor, the big rainbow (glad he didn't pursue the garden hose idea), the pinata, the wind chimes. Then he was so disappointed... But Earl helped by handing him a little piece of bubble wrap as they left. Awwwww.

The chicken pooping betting was great. Tough, dangerous neighborhood has THIS for gambling?!? HEE!

Yes, I loved the 'REEEEE-co-LAHHHHHHH!'

Jonathan Slavin was great! I loved when he snaps at the lawyer, "You don't have to be part of every conversation!"

I'm a little torn about the Marlee Matlin aspect. I'm glad to see her on such a hilarioius show and in such a great part but...I can't seem to laugh with Joy at the Deaf accent. My husband is Deaf and has a similar "accent" so...hits a little close to home. It's funny, but...ouch.

And the interpreter? I can relate. I'm an interpreter and have had to voice some pretty awkward things for Deaf people. Still...the hearing people are always smart enough to know I'm speaking for the Deaf person and not for myself so I've avoided the beatings--so far. Not so in Camden County, I guess. Very funny. But...couldn't they have at least pretended to have the interpreter sign what Joy was saying? I know the actor can't sign, but some pretense would have been nice because usually most of an interpreter's job is signing to the Deaf person, not just voicing for them. I hate it when shows make it look like Deaf people can catch everything that's going on by lipreading--even when the speaker is rambling on or looking the other way. I know this is a show that prides itself on its realism so I think they might have done a better job showing what an interpreter actually does.

And interpreting a minimun wage job? Hardly. I am very well compensated for my skill. But maybe the pay is worse in Camden County...

Okay. Rant over. Loved the episode and I hope to see more of Joy's Deaf lawyer in the future--and her poor interpreter. Interpreters are almost never portrayed anywhere so I get a kick out of that.
