Guys, this thread is starting to get way out of hand.

Let me state this in no uncertain terms: this thread is about The Next Food Network Star and NOT yourselves. I don't care if you like a certain contestant or hate them -- attacking other posters for their opinions is not cool.

Most of you have been here long enough to know this; if not -- read the FAQ and get a refresher.

"Romance in the kitchen"? The Neelys have a lock on that.

Just seeing Sandra Lee and Morimoto at the same table is unsettling.

heebiejeebie: Giada already looks like she has been botoxed from the jawline up. All that moves is that incredibly scarily fake kindergarten kid's gritted teeth first class picture smile. If the eyes are going to roll, someone needs to give her a good slap on the back.

The guy who said he'd like to bring romance back into the kitchen made me cringe. I seem to recall someone saying the same thing in the previous 2 competitions and it never pans out. And that guy (don't know all their names yet) seems decidedly unromantic, but then I'm a straight man who may not be able to notice the romance vibe in other men. What do you ladies think?

I think he is kind of hot, but his little "romance in the kitchen" thing bugs the hell out of me. He acts like that is such a unique and creative POV, when it has happened on every season of TNFNS. I'm also not sure if he has ever heard of France or Italy, but they kind of have that market cornered.

One other thing that struck me was the lack of good knife skills among the contestants. It seemed to me that every time they did a close up on somebody chopping, it was a poorly held instrument doing sloppy work. Perhaps it was just the luck of the edit, but that bodes ill.

Yes; so why did Bobby say "all-ton" in the judging scene? That's what I'm askin'.

Oops, sorry, my mistake. I thought Bobby said Al-ton 'cuz it used to bug me when I thought he was saying it wrong. I have grown to really like Bobby though, so I also may have been blindly defending him.

I always forget to watch this show but I'm going to try it out this season. I'm glad that Cory chick is gone. She was really uncomfortable the whole time, especially for a performer.

I've taken to calling Lisa PoshKat in my head because she looks like someone doing an imitation of Katie Holmes doing an imitation of Posh Spice.

The kid crying cracked me up. Also I need the Spice Queen to leave soon.

Thank you everyone for the Lisa comparisons (Posh Spice, Bree Van De Kamp, Suri Cruise, etc.).

I would also like to add these (mostly due to the hair):
  • A Vulcan (T'Lisa?)
  • The villain on the new Indiana Jones movie played by Cate Blanchett.
  • Anna Wintour

I totally didn't see the Dallas Diva = Posh Spice because I was just transfixed on how much she looks like a Romulan.

Lackluster premier, do we really need another Bobby Flay gig? Ugh. GDL and her bitch face is back and SLop looks like her face is melting. Tusch and Suzy need to get off my tv now please.

So far Aaron and Adam are the two that seemed to have the nicest personalities.

That was my first thought. I'm not sure what she's going for with that haircut, but she should rethink her destination.

I think the Romulan and old-school Vulcan analogies fit, too.

As far as Posh Dallas, as a foodie from Dallas I feel the need to share that she and her husband run a great restaurant and are very generous as far as giving back to the community. And you can't dispute the fact that the girl has presence -she just needs to figure out how to get her message across as far as style, and giving back.

I'm glad to know this info. I really didn't think Lisa was that bad...I can hardly judge her so harshly by one, heavily edited show. Like the poster in the quote, I think she has presence, which is more than I can say for just about every male contestant up there. I didn't even notice Shane until he started crying, and that's because I had to take a moment to cringe and look away. I think there are quite enough shows on FN about how to make quick meals, simple meals, meals your kids will eat, meals your family will love. What about the other end of the spectrum? The people who would like to actually make the things they see on Iron Chef? I think she should have started with her idea of making fine cuisine accessible and left it at that. I honestly loved her wardrobe; the red dress with white graphic she wore at judging was gorgeous and the apron she wore presenting her dish was adorable. She just needs coaching, which is what is supposed to happen for the next season of episodes. I wouldn't mind watching her once she calms down.

Posh Dallas is good for nothing but major comedy and some irritating moments! She is weird as hell looking. I also want her to just slip on those idiotic high heels and fall on her weird looking face. She is ridiculous in so many ways. First of all her "point of view" was horrible. WTF is "community service" doing in her point of view? She was told it was not good the first time, so she repeats it again. She is great tv, but she comes across weird as hell and also stupid as can be. I don't know her in real life, but editing or not, she came off as an idiot. Nipa and Posh need to stay on just to entertain with their stupidity, and their obnoxious personalities! I swear they pick idiots like them just to keep it interesting. Nipa could not find tumeric? And she is so overconfident when she can't even make a curry soup taste like it has curry in it! I love it! Oh and Nipa's missing tooth just adds to the fun! Yes, you want to be a star so you don't even get that fixed before putting your face on national tv? They are the weirdos of the show and it's great.

My only worry is Tushie and Suzie are dumb enough to put those two in the finals and pick one of them!

I loved the way the "celebrity guest FN star" judges all had their "You've been a very very naughty child" faces on when the poor contestants presented their dishes. It seems just a tad cruel to me that for their very first presentation the contestants were faced with a tableful of depressed stonefaces who wouldn't smile, wouldn't respond, wouldn't laugh at their nervous attempts at humor. Jeez! OTOH, it was fun to watch the contestants desperately try to goose a reaction out of that crowd.

I myself plan to take a drink every time Tush or Fog says "We really need to see _______ out of you" during Tinytable Judgment.

Two drinks if whatever they're telling the contestant they need to see more of is the exact opposite of whatever they said they needed to see more of in the previous episode.

To be fair, a tv performer has to be able to work without audience feedback, to convey warmth and humor without getting immediate response. (Emeril Live and Paula's Party as exceptions to that rule, of course.) So I thought it was a fair test in that regard.

Best moment for me was the look on Morimoto's face when he looked at the meatloaf. Awesome.

I'm probably the only one but I like The Kid. Weeping at the underdone pork on the beauty plate was kind of sweet. Don't think he has a chance of winning but I hope he stays for awhile.
