a white girl with too much time on her hands

Oh, my dear friend MantaRay! You are soo much more than that... from one Shallow Viewer to another.
Don't neuter me, you model!

Too. Freaking. Hilarious. Poor Izzie. Her milkshake brought all the boys to the yard, but she slapped them down once and for all!

I have a confession to make: My name is rekkidbraka and I am a member of Nelly Nation.

Well, while we're confessing: My name is MantaRay and I am seriously considering buying an Adidas track jacket from Missy Elliott's "Respect M.E." line. I could die happy if Season 2 of GA featured George strutting down a hospital corrider in slow-mo, backed by Missy's "We Run This." Sigh, never gonna happen.

Anyway, I tried to watch the repeat tonight, but I found that, at least for me, GA doesn't really hold up to multiple viewings. I got kinda bored and turned it off (Yes, that's right. I turned the TV off. GASP!). I think the problem was the irritating Meh VO that started it off, I already knew what was going to happen, and she is just. so. annoying.

I did enjoy her "Hello Kitty" to Izzy's crotch and PD affecting a bizarre accent halfway between Hepburn and the Queen of England: "Nice talking to you Dr. Grey." So cute. And Chandra of course: "If you make your resident look bad...She'll make you beg for your Mama."

Is it wrong that I laughed at FBB's "Hellraiser" line when they were watching NailGunGuy's surgery? Yes. But I don't care. Hee. Look at me. Still giggling at it.

Manta, you can never go wrong with an Adidas track jacket of any sort. Not in 1982 and not nowadays. Get down with your bad self.

Sandra Oh must have gotten the Emmy nom for that episode last night-she was awesome in it.

OK, so I pimped our lil' forum here. The absolutely zero people who have visited Le Blog have noticed and responded in kind. Anyone know why blogger.com doesn't allow you to search for blogs that you, like, *know* exist on blogger.com when you can't remember their exact names? Seems like that'd be a no-brainer but... yeah, I didn't see anything 'bout it in their FAQ, which explains everything else known to humanity including the history of manned space flight and Einstein's Theory of Relativity.*

You know, it IS just like Big Daddy Kane said: Pimpin' AIN'T easy. Word.

*not really, but it's super-detailed

Does anyone know anything about the restaurant where Derek and Meh ate (and probably didn't actually eat, respectively)? The one with the dinosaur fountains? The six seconds with the little stegosauri in the foreground are currently my favorite six seconds of television, especially if you hit mute in order to not hear the MehVO about intimacy and boundaries.

If this is a real restaurant in either Seattle or Hollywood, then I am so there. If it's a soundstage prop, then I want to know who the set designer is so I can make out with him/her as soon as possible.

Sorry. I have a little thing for little dinosaurs.

SO with you on that scene, otter. Come back, tiny dinosaurs, come back!

I hope it wasn't all a big mold of Sculpey that some totally baked Prop Dude hand-molded to look all fountain-esque just for that one scene so the director could deke us out with a cool camera angle and make us all think Meh was having a super-duper Meet Cute Moment with McD at Jurassic Cafe. Sadly, I have a feeling the "restaurant" and "fountain" are named Studio Lot 10, Set 4. Oh, the magic of Hollywood can be a cruel mistress! A cruel mistress, indeed! *sob*

ETA: Oops! When you and totally baked Prop Dude have your own Meet Cute Moment, don't tell him that I was all snarky about his handiwork. Because I want your kids to call me "Aunt Rekkidbraka."

If you replay the scene in slowmo on a fauxvo some other critters become apparent. Yes I just did this. And squealed "It's so cute!" which resulted in my dog lunging at the television in jealousy.

Are the dinos indeed stegosauri? I think so. Oh, where is a four-year-old babysittee boy when you need one? (My favorite actually just moved to Atlanta, rekkidbraka)

At this point I wouldn't mind if it was a totally baked Prop dude with a tub of Sculpey. Because, let's face it, I need some action.

Stegasauri! BWAH! You guys are too funny. And disturbingly obsessive. Not that I didn't spend my time in Seattle looking for said fountain. And asking waiters, bartenders, and homeless people where GA is filmed. All I got out of those interviews was "Uh, I think a building in the credits is uh, one of the TV station's headquarters, it's over there somewhere, uh, I could be wrong though." Jerks.

The ABC Prop Dude is totally friends with the NBC Prop Dude, who was required to create a fake Giacometti sculpture for an episode of L&O, just so it could be used as a murder weapon. I bet they even used the same Sculpey. BTW, I've been going along with this whole Sculpey thing, but I've never heard of it before, is it like Play-Doh?

rekkid, I would never have pegged you for such a hip hop fan. Very cool.

Voila

You've given me an idea, Manta: I'm now off to e-mail my cousins and friend who live in/near Seattle, to send them a desperate message inquiring as to the existence of a restaurant with dinosaurs on a fountain... They think I'm strange already; I have nothing to lose.

Hey, thanks for the Sculpey site link, otter! It's like Play-Doh on crack, Manta, that's what Sculpey is and oh, hon, I was down with hip hop when it was still just called rap and the local R&B station here in ATL only played it from 10-midnight Fridays like it was a big special event in the history of radio. Salt-N-Pepa, Whodini, UTFO, Dana Dane (with fame!) LL Cool J, Run-DMC, Fat Boys - I was all bouty-bouty back around the mid-'80s with it when my tighty whitey suburban peers were drooling over how "hot" George Michael was. And see how well *that* worked out for you, girls. So yep, I'm old. So old that I remember when people still said things like "fresh" and "that's fly" in regular, everyday conversation and no one batted an eye.

Note to Sculpey website scribes who penned text in the Teacher's Lounge section: This sentence is lacking something. What could it be? I don't know... maybe... maybe, like... correct grammar? Give me rewrite!

"Make a bookmark or picture frame inspired be the work of Piet Mondrian."

The hell? Nice Piet Mondrian reference, though.

So this is my first post for this show, but I have been lurking since the very beginning and I am a huge fan.

So I go to the bathroom at work this morning and my phone rings while I am away (all of 2 minutes). I get a voicemail a minute after I get back to my desk. So I check my messages and it's my Mom. She tells me she's on the set of Grey's Anatomy and she's standing next to Patrick Dempsey and she was going to hand the phone to him so he could say hi, but I'm not there. Now does she put him on the phone to say hi to my voicemail- NO! And does she answer her phone 2 minutes later when I call back - NO!

I talked to her this afternoon and she says that he's taping one more scene this afternoon and she will try to maneuver it again that she can hand him the phone.

Damn my bladder!

Oh my, rekkid, that was a strong response! I was just trying to express my appreciation for your impeccable taste in music.

Speaking of music, I'm surprised that the Emmys doesn't really have a category for the nomination of TV series' soundtracks. They have a music direction award, but the nominees for that are all musicals or shows about music, so I guess that's not quite the same thing as picking songs for a series. I just feel like the GA people should get some credit for all the work they do.

Maybe if a GA Soundtrack (an authorized soundtrack, that is) is released, it would be eligible for a Grammy. But you know what Homer had to say about the Grammys:
Homer: Oh, why wont anyone give me an award?
Lisa: You won a Grammy!
Homer: I mean an award that's worth winning

The OC would probably win anyway. Blah.

Oh, and Salt-N-Pepa fans should check out the Surreal Life. Pepa is on it, and she is by far the coolest woman in existence.
She tells me she's on the set of Grey's Anatomy

That sucks, SunrisSoul! But wait, why was your Mom on the set of GA? ('Cause she's the coolest Mom on Earth? Just a guess) Did she have any gossip? Is PD nice? Did she meet Meh? Oh, tell tell tell!...Or feel free to ignore me entirely, I'm quite nosey, and incredibly rude.

My mom is a surgical technician for a plastic surgeon out west. She happened to be in the right place at the right time and met someone (one of the producers I think) who really liked her. So now my mom is a surgical consultant for Grey’s Anatomy (and also Nip/Tuck).

She said that PD is such a sweetheart. She also met KH and said she was nice as well. Today is her first day on set so she hasn’t really gotten to meet everyone yet, but I am sure she will keep me updated. Its still early out there and I think that she is on set again tomorrow.

Oh no, I meant it in a cool "thank-you" way, Manta. I'm so happy someone noticed. Still fly after all these years. Oh HELL yeah! ;-)

Hey SunrisSoul, can your sweet mom, like, slip Ellen Pompeo a sammich or something? I would add "Heh. Just kidding!" but... well... yeah, I'm not. Feed that girl.
