Why does Josh Holloway seem so familiar? And yeah, boy is very angry and very hot. Even though the scene seemed a little contrived to me, he did look pretty good facing down the polar bear. Is there any scoop on his SL yet, and what was in that letter?

I like Sawyer. He's obviously going to be butting heads for the position of alpha male of the tribe.

That being said? I find it incredibly hard to dislike any character that stares down a charging wild animal and calmly blasts it with a weapon.

Really looking forward to finding out about his backstory.

Only seen him once, a short scene in the 'Angel' Pilot. But he reminded me of anyone, too. Just haven´t figured out yet.

Mr. Actionmage saw the letter-reading and said," It's a Dear John." That might be a valid explaination of his irritability and general badassedness. Face down a peeved polarbear with a handgun? Sure! Pick fights, whether you believe what you're saying or not? Sure! Be rude to the assertive women around you? Why not!

Yeah, against my better judgement Sawyer and his voice are getting to me. Then again, this is one of the best looking casts on tv, despite scars and wounds and such.

Is he the one with the case of knives, the one we saw in the previews for next episode? Could he have gone Down Under to try to be a Croc Hunter of some sort? Or is he just a danger junkie with more danger than he bargained for?

I like him, in spite of myself. In my imagination he and Sayid are butting heads because of their love for me. And they're doing so by wrestling. In a vat of chocolate pudding. Naked.

I think a "Dear John" letter is a pretty good guess. Hopefully we'll find out next week. Why is it that every time this show goes off I'm ready for it to come right back on again?

My take on Sawyer, besides being incredibly hot!!! is that he lost a gf/wife/mother/sister maybe in the 9/11 attacks. Going by the handwriting on the letter it was definately from a woman. that would also explain his hatred and prejudice towards Sayid.

He seemed more than comfortable with the gun. He has a lot of courage, he was the only 1 that didn't run away, of course he was also the only 1 that had a gun.

If I ever get lost on an island, I hope he's there too!

I kinda hope it's not the 9/11 thing--I thought of that as well, and thought that might be a bit too cliche (well, CSI: NY is on the same night and has a similar character storyline), not to mention giving him an 'out' for his reaction to Sayid.

Sawyer's interesting, though..I'm glad he's not the criminal.

I really quite like Sawyer. Yeah, he's a bastard, but there seems to be a lot more to him than meets the eye. He reminds me a lot of the character Brian from Queer As Folk. He even looks like him a bit, especially in profile.

I can't wait to learn more about him.

And yeah, ok. He's really incredibly hot.
