» Stump the Schwab

Well, on yesterday's episode, somebody beat the Schawb in the final "showdown" in a tiebreaker. Did the contestant win anything? No. Apparently it only really matters if you beat the Schawb in the final episode. The question then is what is the point of the showdown with the Schawb at the end? Win or lose, nothing happens. It seems tacked on to give the Schawb something to do. Just add this to the list of things wrong with this show (Stuart Scott hosting being no. 1 on that list).

The dude did win something. He got tickets to something. I think. Whoever wins the championship gets tickets to lots of things and then faces Schwab for the ESPN researcher job.

From how I understand it, though, the contestant doesn't get those tickets unless he wins the final episode, which consists of the winners of the previous shows. Then, if the winner beats the Schawb in the final episode, he gets a job as a researcher. If the winners of these premilnary games don't get anything other than a berth in the championship, these matches with the Schawb don't mean jack. I could be wrong though.

I work with someone on the show and its coming back and its retooled. Supposedly one of the writer's is a big TWOP fane and was listening on the boards. They have all cash prizes throughout its run, and a $25,000 grand prize durin the tournament of champions. I also heard they cut the show down to 3 acts. It will run for at least 30 episodes in late (or mid) April and May.

Can they not find bigger sports buffs? What I have seen so far is just pathetic.

It's a lot more fun to watch now though, they seem to have gotten an audience in there and Stuart Scott isnt as unwatchable anymore.

And that episode a couple days ago that went down to a double tiebreaker in the final round was just amazing.

Well, this show had its championship round last night, did anyone watch other than me? [listens to crickets]

The Good: Large studio audience, Stuart Scott wasn't allowed to talk as much as usual (though he did manage to say "there's a tizzy in the hizzy tonight" and get one of his "wacky" handshakes out there).

The Bad: Schwab made a grand entrance flanked by two female hotties while wearing a boxing robe, and a grand exit in a golf cart driven by same hotties.

Also, the final (likeable) contestant failed to stump the Schwab, so instead of 25,000 dollars he won... tickets to the Espys. And a Bobblehead of the Schwab.
