The Star Trek Experience was definitely a fun time. I kind of felt bad because I didn't know how pricey it was and a couple of my friends balked at the price and had to wait for those of us who had to do it anyway. Didn't get a chance to eat at Quark's, unfortunately, but I did enjoy taking it in. The "rides" were way cool. The Borg one was good, but I really liked the Klingon one, because there were a couple things that made me go, "wait, how did they do that?" (Best part: the drunk guy in our group. Riker: "The Klingons got off some good shots." Drunk Guy: "Hey, we did shots with a Klingon.")

I got a Borg Bear. I guess I just have a twisted sense of humor. The Klingon Bears and the Starfleet Bears are cute, but I was drawn to the dark twist of a teddy bear that got assimilated.

If you're in Vegas, definitely do it, but make sure everyone going is aware of the price (about $35, although it's pretty easy to get coupons to knock a little bit off). I kind of felt rushed through because I had people waiting outside, but I spent about two hours there.

There must be something wrong with me; I find that bear adorably cute.

He totally is! It's the blissed-out expression on his little collective face.

Oh, and I'm sorry I didn't warn you about the price, Cleo. It is pretty pricey, but worth every penny for the hard-liners like us. My husband sat out, too.

Is assimilation the coolest thing, or what? Hee.

There's a line you don't see every day.

I also think the bear is cute.

Re: the Borg Bear.

At the local library, they every so often have "mini-conventions" (for whatever that's worth), and they had a display case full of Trek Bears (the Bajoran's my personal favorite. I'm not sure why). Anyway, they had one of the Borg Bears, and I thought to myself, "That isn't right. If I wanted to see the Borg cute and non-threatening, I'd watch Voyager."

You know, the picture looks a little different from mine. On mine, the smiley mouth is very hard to see. The fur covers it. So he has a very flat, Borg-like expression on his face.

Hee. Maybe you got a pre-VOY bear, Cleo?

Anyone know if the Bajoran Bear has a wrinkled nose? The pictures aren't much help.

It kind of does, though it's hard to tell, what with the fur and all.

That's just disturbing, y'all.

Did anyone else catch the AFI tribute to George Lucas last night? Shatner opened the show with a song and dance bit. It was, as his "singing" and "dancing" generally are, rather disturbing. There were high-kicking stormtroopers involved.

I remember a Trek convention around 1991 or so dedicated to Roddenberry. It opened with "Darth Vader" delivering a letter of tribute from Lucas.

Then again, I recall a SW convention (I was at neither) that featured greetings from GR. ("Sends wagon trains to the stars.") So it all comes around.

Yep, it's time for another episode of Galactic Gossip with Sleestak Hunter!

Hello! 2 Trek alumni have found love in the workplace! Cut & pasted from "The Daily Dish" over at SFGate.com

CATTRALL FINDS LOVE WITH CO-STAR
Former "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall has found love with her London theater co-star Alexander Siddig.

Cattrall, who dated 27-year-old Canadian chef Alan Wyse until earlier this year, starred opposite the Sudan-born actor, 39, in West End hit "Whose Life Is It Anyway?" until April.

Cattrall, 48, starred as Claire Harrison, a woman paralyzed from the neck down, who enjoys a flirtatious relationship with the handsome Doctor Scott, played by the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" actor.

At British magazine Glamour's Women of the Year Awards in London on June 9, where Cattrall picked up Theater Actress of the Year, the couple went public for the first time on the red carpet.

A source says, "Their chemistry is amazing."

And here I thought Alexander was happily in amour with Nana Visitor. Shows ya what I know. Oh, well- that's show biz! Goodnight!

Can I just say? I'm actually still reeling over this news -- Cattrall and Siddig? How...totally unexpected. And odd.
