So I'm a little glad that ABC got next to nothing, but I would have much rather them lose out in the writing/best drama categories than acting. Because it sucks that some of those actors lost out...I mean, no-talents like Tammin Sursok and Vail Bloom over Kirsten Storms, who fucking rocked the house all year and blew it out of the water when Georgie died??!!! Makes no sense whatsoever. The Younger Actress category is complete bullshit, but Younger Actor is okay. This voting system, overall, did not seem to work out well, though. Clearly a popularity contest; it's like people saw Young & Restless and just checked the box (sorry to fans of Y&R...I know alot of those actors are talented, but not all of them deserved a nom).

I mean, most of the people who blew me away last year aren't on there...Thorsten Kaye anyone? Tuc Watkins? Marcy Rylan?? I love Judi Evans, but she was on like two weeks worth of shows on DAYS or something....and WTF is Nicole Forester doing on there???

I am psyched, though, for Daniel Cosgrove and Gina Tognoni, who are both awesome and two of the very few reasons I keep somewhat up to date on GL. They both totally deserve it and it's Cosgrove's first! And yay for Trent Dawson also - love that man1

GH getting a writing nomination is just a WTF....

Although, I can take heart. Since 1999, GH has been nominated seven times and won three. More encouraging, the last time they won was 2003 and they've been nominated three times since. Let's hope the losing trend continues.

GH getting a writing nomination is just a WTF....

With so few soaps to choose from it's likely tough to fill 5 slots. And yeah, WTF.

I would like to add that I'm still bitter that there was no "in memoriam" last year. Not only do I want one this year, I want a tribute to Darlene Connely even though it was last year. And I've never watched B&B in my life.

The same thought went through my head when I read the noms. I don't much care for KS, and I also thinks she struggles as a "leading lady" and has never been able to carry a pairing. Sorry, but Shelle was only "popular" because the show shoved them down our throats as they were the offspring of supercouples.
HOWEVER, she kicked ass as a supporting character and with the Georgie/Felicia storylines and scenes. She more than deserved a "Younger Actress" nomination, expecially in comparison to WHO?
Problem is, the Daytime Emmys can be as much about politics as talent. KS has sort of a bad rep-- aside from the arrest she's been rumored to have had some problems getting along with other castmembers, although I'm not sure if it was at DAYS or GH or both. STILL. Based on her acting, she absolutely should've been nominated.

Does anyone know what tapes were submitted by the different actors and actresses? I always consider the daytime emmys to be ridiculous, because they do a year of shows and base the awards on two tapes. Nevertheless I would be interested to see what people submitted, if only to try and understand how Tammin Sursok was nominated and Kristen Storms was not. Also, I know people have a very love/hate with Becky Herbst on GH, but her scenes when Emily died were amazing and if she didn't submit them she made a very poor choice.

Rumor has it Kristen Storms did not submit her "Georgie" work, and that's what kept her from being nominated. What she submitted, I don't know. What everyone else submitted, I don't know.

Kirsten Storms?! What about Lindze Letherman, who actually PLAYED Georgie!!! Very very well, I might add!!!
Jennifer Landon better have a speech prepared. She crushes the competition this year.

What's the focus of the pre-show? Fashion? Background stories? Year in review?

Based on past shows I remember: Arrivals, What/Who Are You Wearing?, Best of luck on your nomination, etc. for the most part.

Why does ABC keep putting Cameron Mathison on as a host? He has the most irritating announcing voice. No control and very high pitched. I guess since he sucked to bad to make it in Hollywood his only chance is to try to be another Ryan Seacrest. But he does not even do that well.

Sherri and Cameron were TACKY. The make out stuff, the yelling. HELLO you have a microphone, stop yelling.

The hole production was typical Brian Frons, lacking in class and lacking in substance. No in memory, tacky colors , tacky hosts.

It's exactly what he has done to all of ABC daytime. Tries to make it appeal to 13 years olds.

And geeze could they have been more tacky with Regis? How about a video montage of his career outlining his biography so he does not have to do it when he gets in stage.

Only good thing is, ABC, especially All My Children was pretty much a failure in winning anything.

I remember the days in Radio City Music Hall before Frons, when they actually made it look like a real awards show, not a bad production from a teen Disney Channel show.

And they wonder why daytime gets no respect?

Dare I say it, I kind of liked the opening skit...it was suitably meta and kind of goofy-fun.

Having said that: the terminally-hip thing? Cameron's actually kind of good at it, but I just wasn't feeling the rest of the show...

Cameron Mathison is the most annoying man alive. Why is he SHOUTING when he's holding a microphone?

The opening skit and OLTL's wins were the best part of the show.

I wanted to snatch that award from Tony Geary and send to David Canary at the studio. Pfft.

David Canary should have been fighting Peter Bergman in a steel cage for that Emmy, but Geary is sort of the favorite son...

But hey. We got Jeanne Cooper's acceptance speech...the lady's awesome to begin with, but that was just ultra-snarky.
