There's about 20 articles about Arrested Development's fate and the upcoming episodes that are linked to and snippeted at this site - Look Here

From the vile NYTimes article:
The Bluths are deliciously self-centered and absurd, the dialogue is quick and corrosively funny, and yet "Arrested Development" is not addictive. It is possible to fully enjoy one episode and not feel compelled to see what happens next.

This is just plain weird, almost as if the writer was deliberately trying to have a "take" on the show that was different from everyone else. Most people would argue that the serialized nature of the storylines and the running gags make it more difficult to just watch one episode, and that the real beauty of the series is that it sucks you in at the start and if you like the humor, you're hooked. I would say that the above description would be more fairly applied to a show like My Name Is Earl. I have enjoyed episodes of that show, but I don't really look forward to it in any way; AD, on the other hand, is that rare comedy that actually builds momentum from one episode to the next.

What a nasty little article to publish on the day of the show's finale....

I've never been impressed by Alessandra Stanley, but I take solace in the fact that she has a horrible accuracy rate and needs to be corrected constantly in the Corrections box in the NYT.

middleman, that quote is exactly where I stopped reading the article. Because, what? I've never met anyone who doesn't see one episode and want to sit in front of the TV for hours watching the rest.

I hadn't even noticed the byline when I first read it. If I had, I wouldn't have even bothered. My rule of thumb is, if Alessandra Stanley has the byline, skip it. Her articles are painful.

Agreed. She's terrible. On occasion her judgments are right, but for all the wrong reasons. She's the broken clock that still happens to be right twice a day.

Seriously. Of all the negative things that a person could possibly say about Arrested Development, that one is perhaps the LEAST close to correct.

What the hell is wrong with these people? It's as if the show's bad since it got canceled by a bunch of numbskulls at Fox. Screw 'em all.

Especially with the two new shows Fox promo'ed the hell out of during the commercials. Sure, AD has had its ups and downs, but GOSH, those two new shows I could barely tell apart sure look like Emmy material!

It's the "kick them while they're down" mentality. Sad to say, a lot of people have been wanting to see this show fail because they feel we fans act as if we're in some sort of smug, elitist comedy club with our secret catchphrase handshakes and what not.

Well, whatever. I'm happy in this club, even if I am a pool member only.
