» Assignments, Ew!: Creative Tasks To Get You Through The Hiatus
Fanatic

Uh, oh. Um, guys, the dog ate my homework. I decided to send my kids to the youth center and spend the 6 kid-less hours finishing my hiatus assignment. As I was organizing my scattered notes I realized that I was missing 3 episodes. A mad search through my tapes has confirmed that the dog (who, unlike the kids had one of them been responsible, will be allowed to live) apparently dined on the missing tape.

The worst part is one of the missing episodes is The Homecoming and Ryan gets hugs & hugs back. So, I'm thinking I'll have to e-mail what I have to lizzyjit and take an incomplete grade on the assignment. Sorry guys.

You do realize you will be severely marked down, Nysha. But we put a lot of emphasis on effort, so I wouldn't worry too much. We know you tried. We know you meant well.

(And no, I have no idea who "we" are.)

So where are the rest of these Hiatus Homework assignments? Hmm? We've only got like five days left. Three if you're in Canada. I hope everyone who signed up for an assignment realizes that if they miss this hiatus deadline, they'll just have to do more work over the next hiatus. And wouldn't that be just awful.

Uh. I have a valid reason for not completing my fic, really - whenever I sit down and start typing it out, another idea pops into my head, so I have to start writing *that* before I lose the snatches that are whirling through my brain. But by the time I've gotten down a scene or two, yet another idea makes itself known, and the vicious cycle starts over. Currently, I'm juggling five different fics, all of which are Ryan angst.

I blame my over-active imagination and addiction to the Ryan thread.

Wolfie, I'm right there with you. I've got something that could turn into extremely Ryan!angsty with a bunch of parenting!dammit!parenting thrown in, and also a humorous Kirsten/Ryan thing, but I'm having a hard time completing either of them. I think that too much time off (of work, and of the show) has rotted my brain a bit! walter, I trust that the punishment from "we" won't be too severe! I'm hoping that the allure of a new ep will take some of the heat off of those of us who haven't quite completed their assignments yet.

Oh, no! That lecture from Principal Walter has me scared! I think Principal Walter is even scarier than Dean Kim. Can I ask for an extension until Sunday after the new ep? Is that against TWoP school policy? What if I bring a note? I have all of my notes but just haven't had time to put them into something coherent. An extension puhlease?

I haven't felt this way since high school. I'm spending all day Saturday and Sunday working on my homework assignment that in my head is due tomorrow. I can even hear my long-dead mother telling me that poor study habits would be my downfall.

I've got all my notes together on SATs, UC entrance requirements and episodes 1-7. Today I plan to rewatch 8-14. Look for Academic!Ryan in a few days.

We don't hand out extensions lightly, boys and girls. Think of all the grading! If everyone hands in assignments at the same time, that's a lot of extra work for us. "Us" being...well, I'm not sure.

But since you asked politely...runawaylover and Cradle Robber, you have an extra week. But that means you'll have to incorporate any applicable information from the new episode into your research. See how nice we are?

As for the fanfic writers, damnit, we need more stories and now! (Hee. I'm such a hypocrite.)

Thank you, Walter. I accept your generous offer with the stipulated conditions. You remind me, however, of my college professor brother. When faced with a multiplicty of "dead grandmothers" at midterm time, he allows any student to take the midterm at a later date--the same day as the final exam. Word gets out fast and it's amazing how few grandmas are dying these days.

Thank you thank you thank you Walter! I promise my report will be of the utmost quality and will have new info incorporated. *Sigh of relief*

Er, uh, I'm gonna need that extra week, too, due to the preliminary cessation of hiatus. When we started talking about these, we thought we had until Jan. 21! I had a feeling I was not gonna get it done by Jan. 7, but thought I'd try. Unfortunately, holiday-ing and personal drama has interfered.

I have been doing my research, though! And in my defense, I did offer up a Christmukkah fanfic that seemed to get an A+. Maybe that can be taken into account?

I've gone ahead and posted my Ryan Hugs assignment in my livejournal. Hope it sounds ok.

Nysha! I loved your research. Very thorough (and especially impressive considering the missing "dog" episodes). I have more comments that I'll share with the Ryan thread. Well done!

So does it matter if I live in Canada but promise to submit my homework before the epi airs in the US??? I could even add the title interpretation of the newest episode but I'm afraid that would constitute a spoiler, unless of course you could all be good and not read that part ;)

Titles shall be completed by Wednesday at the latest (and I'm in EST so hopefully it will be there when any west-coasters wake up!)

Shelbecat, we are allowing you an extension until Wednesday night, after the new episode. Consider yourself well favored!
