Jon, if you ever do decide to visit Nebraska, look me up. I'll happily be your "tour guide". But I won't take you to any football games because the Huskers suck.

Nice snark on Star Whassername. Just because he's pointed out she lives three feet up her ass doesn't mean he cares about the size of her ass.

And that comment is why TDS is so darn funny; they actually get at those nuggets of truth and then exploit it for all the laughs it's worth.

During Colbert's Oscar bit Jon cut in with something about some political commentary in Million Dollar Baby? What's that all about? What political commentary? I have to say, Jon's little throwaway comment there is the only thing that ever got me curious about that movie so far. Even with all the Oscars I still can't get over how much the title makes it sound like a sequel to Baby Geniuses.

I didn't catch what Hilary Swank was yelling over the orchestra last night. Good thing The Daily Show is here to tell me she was thanking her best friend, who is also her publicist - someone she pays to say nice things about her.

I wonder if Sean Penn thought he was being humourous by responding to the Jude Law joke no one even remembers by the time it was his turn to present. Anyway he sure came off like the rod up his ass has a rod up its ass.

I don't care if Million Dollar Baby sucks, I didn't want to know the ending.

TDS wasn't the first place to spoil it. In fact, it's been spoiled in so many media outlets you must ONLY get yr news from TDS to have it happen there.

And even then, having a movie spoiled doesn't automatically ruin it. I heard about The Sixth Sense's secret before I saw it & it was still enjoyable to me . . .

Speaking of spoilers, there was an article in Newsday about a correspondant piece that's scheduled to air Thursday.

I don't get my news from American sources (I watch/listen to Radio-Canada, the CBC & the BBC) so I hadn't heard a thing. I just think the payoff (i.e. joke) wasn't even funny so he really could have avoided doing it. It was just an annoyance.

Not many people have watched last night it appears from the number of comments...

I loved Jon's Degrassi shout out. That was cool. I wonder who on the show actually watches Degrassi.

On the shallow side of things, did Jon's hair look less helmet-y than usual to anyone else last night? I liked it.

I lo-ho-ho-hove SC's Oscar reports. Last year, with the giant circle-jerk, this year with the 'tap that tail' and his detailed fashion sense. If your limo never comes, Stephen, I'll take you home. So the magic can continue.

Any swipe at Star Jones is a blow for all that's right and good.

The fake-school closings were an excellent public service. I could reset my alarm!

Newsday's article is sort of an interesting insight into the taping of a bit. Its good to hear that Corddry waited until the "real" reporters were done before fucking with the press conference. But the flip side is the response by the Mayor wasn't as funny because he "got" he was being put on.

The fake school closings had me giggling, especially: Sweet Valley High- Open and SEXY. Hee!!

Also, Michael Jackson's jury of ACTUAL peers was great. Jabba the Hut, Gonzo... who else was in there?

I know I saw Kato Kaelin and the Naked Cowboy in there. Who else?

ITA, attica finch, all of Colbert's award show wrap-ups go in my permanent collection. I was just watching last year's Oscar report that you mentioned, with his musical tribute to the show, and also his Emmy report from the previous year, talking about "the stank of Eros" and one of my favorite Colbertisms, "and that's when the fucking started". As soon as I see him in his tux with that fake, show-biz grin on his face, I know we're in for big laughs.

The highlight of last night's show was Jon's bit on Sean Penn and Jude Law. Save this one for the "fair and balanced" reel to prove he doesn't just pick on Republicans. The Colbert segment was good but not exceptional.
