I thought the show did a terrific parallel to this scene when Holly later came into Sarah's office. This time it was Sarah who was seated and Holly who stood and threatened. Nice continuity of the previous day's scene.

Wow, great catch on the parallel blocking. What I found interesting was how strong Sarah remained, even though technically in a subordinate position in the latter scene. Her "It wasn't your place" speech was pretty damned powerful. (Then again, strength is a quality that Rachel is particularly adept at conveying.)

And I liked how when Matthew said he was doing the British actor thing of "schlepping" to Los Angeles to steal roles from American actors during pilot season, Robbie immediately jumped in with, "And picking up Yiddishisms at the same time."

This? Made me laugh out loud. Thanks everyone for sharing your Paley festival experiences. I loved hearing about the amusing back-and-forth between the actors/writers of the show. (And I also empathize with having to endure such a moronic moderator.)

2MuchTV, you have my endless respect for sharing an elevator with Matthew and still restraining yourself from being a gushing fan. Lord knows I would have had difficulty holding back. ;)

The B&S cast and crew really do sound like a pretty down-to-earth, gregarious group. I believe Patty when she says that everyone looks forward to working together.

Here is another festival report. (Much thanks, Kong.) I'm glad to hear Baitz reaffirming that ABC and Touchstone have been encouraging of giving Kevin's character a personal life.

I think Sarah needs to go get drunk and play pool again with some men from the military. That would brighten up her days.

Seriously, poor girl has been stuck in so many downer plotlines as of late. I do kind of wish she had responded when Holly said she was waiting for the right time to tell Rebecca, "It's been twenty years Holly and her father is dead. When exactly would be a good time to tell her?" I did giggle a little at Holly's threat. Besides, the ridiculously hypocritical nature of Holly telling Sarah not to mess with her family, what can Holly do? Call board meetings? Take votes on proposals? Challenge Sarah's position? Holly is not a majority shareholder, and it isn't as though she has the rest of the Walker clan backing her up. To me, it would seem that anything she does to Sarah would most likely hurt the company at large, which would in turn, hurt Holly. I'm all for them having a rumble, but it isn't as though Holly's going to get her girl gang together and confront Sarah behind the bleachers after school.

And I swear this is the second time now that Holly and Saul broke up, though I was never clear on how they got back together after their first break up.

I'll add to the cacophany..Thanks to all the people who went to the Paley and gave their reports! Sounds like it was wicked awesome!
Love the photo of Rob and Matthew, almost makes me wish they went with Rob playing the Senator's gay brother. :-)

...adding my thanks to all of the Paley attendees and their details. Seriously, 2MuchTV, you have more chops than I. Two close encounters with Matthew Rhys and not a word? I would have needed an astronaut diaper just for that alone.

Way back to Aldura's post:
Side note: doesn't it seem like Annable is suddenly all salt and pepper? Not that I don't like it, but playing a 26-year-old, it sort of stands out.

I've noticed that too, though I thought it might just be the lighting refelcting off his hair gel. Interesting though--there's a blind item in TV Guide about a tv drama worried about one of its young hunks going more and more gray--they don't know whether to just let it go, or keep covering it up. I thought it might be Eric Dane on Gray's Anatomy, but maybe it's Dave. (Ironic though--on Reunion, I think they died to hair entirely gray to play his character at 38--who knew it might come true?!)

Thanks for all the Paley reports. Sounded like a good time. Too bad Rachel couldn't ahve been there--I would have loved to heard a discussion 'tween her and Patty Wettig on their dymanic.

You really hit the nail on the head, 2MuchTV, with the moderator. It wasn't just that she herself seemed to focus only on SF and CF, but she never asked anything really substantive. Other panels I've been to have gone into much more detail about how the show came to be, what the filming process is like, etc. I would have really enjoyed hearing more about that and less about how many siblings everyone had. And the one girl with the "homosexual" brother made me so uncomfortable.

Matthew is really about 6'? I didn't get there until 6:45 and I wasn't lucky enough to have any fun elevator rides, but I'm surprised he's that tall. I guess I just assume all Hollywood actors are much shorter than I am (6'2"); glad to know he's got some height to him. :)

Annable is 27 in real life, so if he really is going grey, I suppose it wouldn't be all that unrealistic for Justin to go that way too. (Though I'm skeptical that he's the actor referred to in Ausiello's blind item.)

Dude, with that show's budget they totally used baking soda like a high school production.

You are not the only one. When she dumped him Sunday, I was like, When did you get back together? and then "Did they break up or am I just assuming that they had broken up?"

That storyline, if my memory serves, was just dropped from view, and we are to assume that they were still seeing each other. I think. Damn, I'm confused. I remember Sarah telling Saul "You have a choice to make, old man", but that was ages ago, and I don't remember ever seeing a scene of Entitled and Inappropriate ending their relationship, or of the relationship continuing.

Does anybody else remember what has gone on with them?

PS: Had I met Matthew, I would have gushed like a 12 year old schoolgirl. Which would have made me look like a loser, but meeting him, in person, would have made me weak in the knees. And believe me, I am nowhere near 12 years old!

I'll give it a shot. ;)

In "Light the Lights", there was an explicit ending to their relationship. Holly called it off after Saul had participated in the scheme to dupe Holly about the value of the land.

There was nothing else about Holly/Saul until "Valentine's Day Massacre", where Holly asked Saul if he wanted to go on a "platonic" date because they both were single. We never saw the date, but evidently it led to them starting up a romance again. However, this wasn't confirmed till the beginning of this episode with the cappuccino scene.

Just to clarify a post a few pages ago. I don't think that Holly sold her shares of the company, Tommy just sold his so he could match Holly's money to buy his half of the business. Holly still has almost three million left from her initial take of the land. And by all accounts it seems that like Tommy she will be staying on at Oaji while running her company with Tommy.

I just wanted to comment on what a change that Balthazar Getty has made in his life. Years ago he was known as just a reckless rich kid, heir to the Getty oil fortune. But in the last ten years he has had both a respectable music and acting career.

You're right. I went back and double-checked the scene, and Tommy mentions selling only his interest in Ojai. So Holly is still technically a shareholder of the company. (And will undoubtedly continue to be a thorn in Sarah's side.)

Just wondered....doesn't Brothers and Sisters seem to garner enough interest and posts to become a "Twop-recaped show"? Does anyone know how that works?

Simon, I am going to agree with you here. The "Caesar" look does not work for Matthew.

I'm going to tell myself he has snagged a big role in a sword and sands epic which has tons of nudity and gratuitous sex.

Thanks again to KC and others who have done reports from the Paley festival. I am going to spare you my thoughts on that woman who praised Kevin for not being "girly-girl". All I will say is that that type of nonsense is exactly why the Scotty character was so important, since effeminate gay men are considered so shameful in some quarters.

PS: Had I met Matthew, I would have gushed like a 12 year old schoolgirl.

I think that is the natural reaction. I'm sure he'd be baffled by any of us being schoolboys or schoolgirls, but when you're that nice, charismatic, handsome, talented, have an accent, etc. you end up weakening the knees of some viewers. He's lucky he isn't on one of those shows that made people put out posters of themselves (although a Kevin Walker poster wouldn't be a bad thing). Or a Kevin Walker action figure, complete with puppy dog eyes, a button to push for sarcastic quips, and one of whom wears his casual clothes for angst-ridden dates while the other wears his suit and tie for days at the office and knock down drag out fights with various Walker relations). Kevin is sometimes sold with a Scotty Wandell action figure, complete for fights or...other activities. Chad Barry is sold separately...on a separate level of Hell. And Todd McCallister keeps getting sent back to the factory because he doesn't seem to have a face.

I also disagree with the moderator panning Dallas. I wasn't a huge fan of that show (I found everything about the character JR to be unwatchable), but they had many talented actors, some good, solid writers, and without Dallas there would have been no Knots Landing, which was one of the best family dramas ever on TV and which had some criminally underrated writing, balanced comedy and drama expertly, knew how to juggle a big cast, told umbrella stories like no other, and while sometimes uneven, maintained surprisingly high quality for a show that was on for 13 years. And Dallas helped redefine what type of storytelling was allowed in a TV drama. That show bridged the gap between the non-serialized dramas of the 70's and the groundbreaking series like St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues that had serialized tales.

Side note: doesn't it seem like Annable is suddenly all salt and pepper?

I wonder if quickly losing 25 pounds before the show started may have done anything to his hair (not sure if that makes any sense or not). I think he looks good the way he is with the salt and pepper hair, although that may take away from his status as the baby of the family.

I had wanted to apologize to FNL fans for some of my somewhat passive-aggressive comments about that show. I wasn't really intending the remarks to seem as...snappish as they may have read. I have some complaints about that show, but they're not serious. If I had the time to watch more TV shows, I would have watched the show more often. I do hope to see some more episodes this month now that so much is in repeats. I know that it absolutely sucks to have a favorite show which is on the bubble, and I suppose in my mindset about whether B&S is better than FNL or worse than FNL and that the 2 shows had to be put against each other, I didn't express that clearly. I do think it's a good show and I hope it gets another season.

So did the RL fans here know Robbie Baitz wrote an episode of WW? I had no idea about that. What was his episode like? I guess Rob has friends in a lot of places.
