“Prison Break” producers Marty Adelstein and Paul Scheuring are readying separate projects at 20th Century Fox Television. With Mr. Adelstein’s help, CBS and 20th Century Fox Television are looking to reinvent “The Verdict,” the Oscar-nominated 1982 legal thriller that starred the late Paul Newman. Meanwhile, Mr. Scheuring is preparing an untitled drama for the Fox Network that studio insiders describe as “a big, international adventure” that combines elements of “The Da Vinci Code” and “National Treasure.”

Isn't that season four of this series?

Oh, I wonder who they have in mind for this role and if re-inventing would be from the point when the character was younger and his downfall [or was he always an ambulance chaser] or at the point after he has redeemed himself?

Just to let you in on something........ it's already been decided that there won't be a fifth season, this is the last season for Prison Break. They just have not publicly announced it yet. They very barely managed to come to a decision regarding finishing up this season, but there won't be any more seasons for this show. Production is set to wrap up for good by mid of next year.

Thanks summerwine. Good to hear from you again. Do you know whether the PB actors are also moving on with Fox projects like the writers? How does it work contractually?

Do you mean that they will still be filming and such in May/June? If so, does that mean there will be episodes that won't air until the summer?

Usually PB ends broadcasting it's episodes in May/June, but I'm pretty positive they've never filmed in May as that's when they are on hiatus (typically April/May except for last year due to the strike). For a couple of seasons, they began filming the NEXT season in June. No Prison Break eppy's have ever aired in the "summer".

*waves at summerwine* Thanks for the heads up that the show may be ending! Though I'll be extremely sad not to be seeing Went on a weekly basis, I can only hope that he'll move onto bigger and better projects.

Of course.
I just wanted some clarification about production not wrapping up until "mid of next year". (And then there's that pesky question of where PB fits into Fox's '09 schedule.)

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant that the production will wrap up by June 09 (all outstandings have to be settled and paid by then). I don't know when the last episode will air though or schedules of next year's episodes.

Moonwater, all contracts in accordance with Prison Break (cast and crew) will terminate and cease from June 09. The actors need not move on to do FOX projects, because they are free agents by then to do something else for any other network or studio.

I've already figured there won't be season 5, but it still hurts to hear the final confirmation. It's gonna be very sad to see the show end. I love the show and the characters too much. :(
Anyway, as long as they give us a perfect ending, I guess I can't complain too much.

They are already filming as far along as episode 14, are they not? Does the filming—and writing for that matter—go on hiatus based on the schedule that the show airs? Seems like it would make sense to just move forward and finish the last 6-8 episodes so everyone could just move on but I have no clue how things actually operate in these situations.

Thanks summerwine for the info. Would you know why they haven't announced it yet? Wouldn't it be advisable to announce this, perhaps as a ploy to get viewers interested again, since the series is ending (ala The O.C.)

To be honest, I am not surprised. I personally thought the show was somewhat lucky (in more ways than one) to have survived last season and the writer’s strike. For me personally, as a Michael-Sara fan, Season 4 is just a bonus.

I think everyone pretty much expected this to happen. The good thing that may come out of it is that now there’s an end in sight, and hopefully the writers have more focus and direction now.

I heard Wentworth said there were still 10 to 11 episodes left in one of his interviews he did in China two days ago.

A gentle plea to the writers, plot makers or interested fans:

please take care with the storylines and characterizations. There are people in Prison Break fandom land who actually think about the characters of the show and have excellent memories. Even those who write for a hobby (rather than professional writers, collecting a wage) read back over their past chapters to ensure continuity and facts. It's really important.

Please consider:

*The recent flashback sequence of 408 - where Lincoln and Derek are depicted entirely differently to initially presented in character.

*The condition ending Christina's life - initially Lincoln quoted liver cancer to Sara in Season 1, but now it is a lesion in the brain. Many are considering it could be due to metastatizing of the disease, but most are thinking wtf?

*The scarring to Gretchen's back - fully healed and visible at the end of 408, but not apparent in 301. Most diehard fans are going along with Gretch's recent incarceration and the whipping occurring there, followed by amazing skin cell regeneration time (as evident in Michael's tattoo healing), but some are thinking...um?

Like many, I am loving Season 4 as pure, unadulterated entertainment, but some fans are hanging on just by the thread of loyalty cotton. Please, take care with the story facts. They do mean something.
