Take It To The Bank: The Nine Ratings and Scheduling Issues

Well, it seems like ABC is giving The Nine a good jumping off point with a Lost lead-in. Then again, Lost will be going off the air for months after just six episodes, won't it? At least, that's what I heard. The pilot really captured my interest, and I hope that the first few episodes will be enough to really cement an audience for this show.

I liked it. I liked it a lot.

Egan and Kathryn are definitely my two favourite characters. Egan seems to have gained a new respect for living, while Kathryn seems to also have gained a soft side.

Jeremy and Franny's kiss (and perhaps more) after the funeral was shocking, especially considering that Lizzie is pregnant with his child. Furthermore, I'm definitely intrigued with what happened between the two of them inside the bank since they don't seem to be on very good terms.

Felicia going to see Lucas at the end was certainly a surprise twist. I have to wonder why Malcolm didn't go with her, although I have a feeling she didn't tell him.

Great pilot episode. I was impressed.

Old Nine Thread

This ABC show coming in the fall follows the lives of nine people who are linked by being taken hostage in a bank robbery. In the next 56 hours, something happens that changes their lives forever. Where the show goes from there is anyone's guess, but the ad that aired during Lost had great atmosphere to it. Could be great if they don't bollox it up.

In the Vault: Spoilers

I'll start with what I found at Spoiler Fix:

- 08/02 - Episode 1.01 - Pilot [Airing October 4]: The episode starts with a glimpse of the nine going about their day: Jeremy (Scott Wolf) is a surgeon; Lizzie (Jessica Collins) is his girlfriend and she has something to tell him; Egan (John Billingsley) wants a boat loan, but doesn't think his wife will approve--he plans to kill himself; Malcolm (Chi McBride) is the bank manager; Felicia (Dana Davis) is his daughter; Eva (Lourdes Benedicto) and Franny (Camille Guaty) are sisters and work at the bank; Nick (Tom Daly) is a cop with a gambling problem and a crush on Eva; Kathryn (Kim Raver) is an assistant district attorney sleeping with her boss (Tom Verica). We see the robbers, Lucas (Owain Yeoman) and Randall (Jeffrey Pierce) in the car making the final arrangements as each of the nine make their way inside the bank. The robbery begins and then the episode skips to 52 hours later, when they are finally rescued. The rest of the episode shows us how the nine bonded during the ordeal, and we see how they changed from the glimpse we got at the beginning of the episode.

- 08/11 - Episode 1.02 - Hero's Welcome: This episode introduces new recurring characters: Rachel Kim (Kathryn's secretary) and Ricky (Eva's son). Sean McDermott, a high-profile lawyer, takes on a high-profile case pro bono to get attention. An L.A. morning talk show reports speculation that the hostage situation may have been mismanaged and compares it to Waco. Kathryn meets with Monica Tice, a reporter for the L.A Times investigating the robbery. Nick visits Kathryn at work and leaves after waiting around for 30 minutes. A man undergoes a risky heart operation. Malcolm interviews a new banker.

- 08/22 - Episode 1.03 - What's Your Emergency: Nick asks Mario, a coroner, to look at Randall's medical chart for signs of foul play. Egan quit his job and is at the employment office looking for something creative and not in a cubicle. He runs into Franny there, who is now taking care of Ricky, Eva's son. Kathryn is back at work trying to show everyone she has not gone soft and can still handle the same load as before, but squeezing witnesses seems to be getting harder.

Sounds pretty interesting.
