And while I'm not sure about sending money that could be going to charity off to a stranger to beg a Hollywood studio to make some big-budget film, I think the thought is well-intentioned...

Is Mulder correct 98.9% of the time? Is Scully's only joy in life proving Mulder wrong? Why does Mulder listen to her endless droning rationalizations? Is Mulder a para-masturbatory narcisisstic self-righteous mono-maniac? Does Scully complete him and keep him honest? Discuss!

Personally, I think Scully was the voice of audience, which knows there really aren't any monsters. Mulder was the voice of 1013, saying, "But wouldn't it be cool if there were?" In real life, Scully should have won every argument because her arguments were sound and based on rationality. But on the show, Mulder had to always be right in the end or they would have been reduced to chasing counterfeiters in every episode. In other words, Scully really was right but the nature of the show required her to be proven wrong.

What can I say? It's snowing, I'm on vacation, I'm bored. May as well revive the fanfic thread! This is a very good one (and fairly short) that assumes William and The Truth never happened. And this one has the dubious honor of being my favorite fanfic ever. So read it if you haven't. It's kind of a fill-in-the-blanks for season 7. And it's quite long, but well worth the investment of your time.

The X-Files Episode Survival Game

Hey all! I first posted this in the Rec Room, but it got locked with the explanation that it should go here. So, without further ado:

I decided to do it by seasons, and then at the end have the top five or so in each season duke it out. So here are the rules (stolen from the Angel thread)!

I list all the Season 1 episodes. Every ep starts with 15 points. You get to vote to add two points (++) or take away two points (--) for three episodes. You only get to vote once a day. Plus, if you are the one to kill off an episode, you get to rewrite the ending. We continue until we have the undisputed best episode of Season 1. Then we move on to the later season and in the end have the best episodes duke it out!

15-Pilot
15-Deep Throat
15-Squeeze
15-Conduit
15-The Jersey Devil
15-Shadows
15-Ghost in the Machine
15-Ice
15-Space
15-Fallen Angel
15-Eve
15-Fire
15-Beyond the Sea
15-GenderBender
15-Lazarus
15-Young at Heart
15-E.B.E.
15-Miracle Man
15-Shapes
15-Darkness Falls
15-Tooms
15-Born Again
15-Roland
15-The Erlenmeyer Flask

My Votes:

++ Ice
++ Beyond the Sea
-- Space

17-Ice
17-Beyond the Sea
15-Pilot
15-Deep Throat
15-Squeeze
15-Conduit
15-The Jersey Devil
15-Shadows
15-Ghost in the Machine
15-Fallen Angel
15-Eve
15-Fire
15-GenderBender
15-Lazarus
15-Young at Heart
15-E.B.E.
15-Miracle Man
15-Shapes
15-Darkness Falls
15-Tooms
15-Born Again
15-Roland
15-The Erlenmeyer Flask
13-Space

The hostage situation in the ‘Duane Barry’ episode starts on August 7th according to a time stamp in that episode. So depending on how much time passed during that episode, Scully was probably kidnapped on August 9th or 10th.
In the episode ‘3’ when Mulder reopens the basement office, he changes the calendar from May to November.
That should mean that Scully was missing from mid August to sometimes in November or later (at least 2 ˝ months).

But the tag on Duane Barry’s body in ‘Ascension’, states - according to the script – that he died in June:

Tag: Medical Examiner.
Name: Barry, Duane.
Case No. 197735 Date: 6/17/94
Where taken from: Skyland, VA.

It doesn’t make any sense – but it would mean that that Scully was missing from mid June to November or later.
