Katie Holmes

She really does look a million times better than she did on the last couple of years of DC. Even though she loved working on the show, the daily grind of shooting a TV series must have taken its toll on her. She always looked better in pics that were taken on hiatus, and now we can see that she's able to maintain a healthy appearance even when filming movies for extended periods. I hope she stays looking this good and, most of all, that she keeps her weight up.

My only complaint about Katie's clothes in the photos is the brown boots with the black leather skirt and black blouse. is it just me, or did that look awful? I thought it belonged on the "fashion faux pas" page of a magazine.

I hate that phone call between Dawson and Pacey. Sorry, but it's bull shit. I notice something. Actually, now that I read the transcript, it doesn't bother me as much. Pacey is just saying that's all he use to care about was being his best friend. I don't buy into what Dawson's saying about being proud of Pacey. Please, 621 confirms he's full of shit. Yey, Joey likes to coddle Dawson. He was there, so of course she is going to butter him up. He just gave her tons of money, she probably feels she owes him something. Don't forget 602 and how Joey finally admits that Dawson is a manipulator and expects limitations on her.

I hated Charlie's hair this episode. Joey's hair doesn't bother me. Good continuity. Jack said Jen hasn't had sex since he's known her. Well, she did with Chris. Her and Jack weren't friends, so it's not like he would have known.

DC Fanfic Recommendations

I read "Lines" by Laura Smith awile back and it was very funny. I definitely second that recommendation.

I also want to whole heartedly concur with everyone else on "Hope..." I am so in love with that fic. I've read it twice now. I want to read it again, but I'm afraid that might prove that I need a job or a boyfriend (whichever's more readily available).

I thought that the whole part of the fic that dealt with Lissa was exceptionally well done. ... classic signs of an addict's personality. Which also shows the attention to detail, and not once did she ever have to write a scene with Lissa actually using drugs into the fic.
I completely agree GoodNightMoon (I love your name, btw), Juliet really put alot into that story, not only by quite effectively depicting the personality of an addict but also the personality of a victim of childhood sexual abuse. In the story she says that Lissa spoke with a child-like voice, which is one sign of an abused person. I was also very impressed by the way Juliet portrayed Pacey and Lissa's co-dependent relationship. All the signs were there, the insecurity and neediness, and guilt. Pacey's minor dependence on alcohol coupled with the slew of all Lissa's problems all lead to self-destrution. And Juliet captured all of that ....
Another thing that just broke my heart in that story was Ryan. I've never known anyone to portray a child so adorably, and accurately. When he said, "Meenyoo, right?" that just about did me in. If I wasn't crying before, I certainly was after that. Gah! That was an amazing story.

I really love this thread. Thank you so much to whoever started it. I had never read fanfic before this thread, and now I'm hooked. No, seriously. It's like heroine. I only read P/J fanfic cuz there is no one better to read about than them. Although, DeepBlueSea and Laura Smith have made me a P/Jen fan as well. They write it so well, and so very steamy!

Our beloved and unforgotten Creek Ladies: Mary Beth, Meredith & Michelle

I know I post here just occasionally and never opened a new thread, but considering today is the International Women's Day and that we not only have a Joshua thread to express our admiration for him, but also threads for KS, KH and JvdB, I thought it's about damn time we have a place for these lovely ladies. Taking into account that we love them - but maybe not as much as our dear canuck boy - I started just one instead of three individual ones.

Showing respect - agewise - I start off with Mary Beth Peil. I searched a bit at another site and I found some (old) news here*: The play is called "Lucky Duck" and a new adaptation of H.Ch.Andersen's "The ugly duckling". It can be seen between july 16 and august 15 2004 in The Old Globe in San Diego. The play which is for several years in the planning already is from the pens of Henry Krieger - Bill Russell - Jeffrey Hatcher, directing is John Rando. Mary Beth Peil plays 4 (!) roles (Mrs. Mallard/Galinda/Queen/Leda).
And it's right here that I have to ask our fellow north american posters [scolds]: How could you forget to tell us??? That was not very nice.[/scolds]Has anyone found a site for her?

Then we have Meredith Monroe. I have found her official site and I have to say I love the picture. It's not finished yet, but you can see a bit already. I think her role on House was mentioned, wasn't it? There are also behind the scenes pictures of a movie called "The One" for ABC/ Disney. They shot it in Toronto in august 2002 - anyone seen it?

And the youngest of the three would be one Michelle Williams. Did we ever get the news that she was at the Venice Film Festival?* Then of course she has a new film called Imaginary Heroes*. More info and a mag cover you can find at the well done fan site The Williams Center.

* It's a german site. Just click on the link and look for Dawson's Creek (they cover several tv shows). If it's not on that page, scroll down to the bottom, at the right bottom you can read Nächste Seite, what means next page, and then look there for DC. The problem is the old news get shoved further and further behind - that is why I can't link directly.

ETA: Thank heavens, my post still exists!! When I wanted to post it the server said no and I couldn't do anything anymore. I even had to restart my pc so I thought it's all gone. Thankfully no, cos I needed way too much time to write it.

Dawson's Creek on DVD

I know this query has already sort of been answered. BUT I'm from the UK and Season 2 and the Finale DVD are no where to be seen which is really scaring me. We don't have any channels that will show re-runs anyday soon, even though DC was massive over here.I am so surprised that Seasons 2-4 weren't released ages ago, but they weren't.....I am panicking big style that they are not going to availible over here at all. If so I will have to buy an all region DVD player, not a major issue....HOWEVER someone on another site said it was very very unlikley that Season 5 and 6 are ever being released anywhere!! Season 3 is almost a definate US release and Season 4 is dependent on the sales of S3. Jesus, what is the problem:WELL apparently the amount of music that needs altering(copyright) and episodes(the amount of them that can fit on discs) are riding against releases, not to mention the potential that not many buyers will be interested in S5/S6 (and maybe S4). I'm afraid , very afraid!!!

Fodder for E! True Hollywood Story: The DC Gossip Thread

ITA about Josh. I think the rumors about CK1 not wanting Josh there are just petty. The man has had to be comfortable with his girlfriend kissing her ex-boyfriend many, many times in the past 4 years. Hell, KH & CK1 got togehter during the filming of S3. And think about how much Joey-Pacey mackage occurred in S4. If CK1 is even halfway confident, he won't give two shits about Josh being there. Plus, if he's really that threatened, I don't think this marriage will last long. How will he feel about his wife being the breadwinner?

I forgot that Kerr & Harmoni were such good friends to Katie and Chris, but I agree that they'll be there. The only reason I was thinking Nina might be there is 'cause I would assume Katie is the regular cast member that she was closest too. Just like I'd assume MBP would be a MW's wedding, if it were happening.

I wonder when the wedding is gonna be. Hmm...

Dawson: Love to Hate Him

kemal, I don't think anyone on these threads would deny that Dawson has performed some good acts. What is generally questioned is the motivation behind those acts. For example, the anti-prom. Dawson tried to make his friends, and most importantly, Joey, think that he was organizing this as an attempt to support Jack. What he told his parents, and eventually told Joey, was that it was a way to try to win her back.

I see Dawson as having two primay motivations:

1. Doing things that are designed to get what he wants; and,

2. Doing things that he believes a wunderkind should do.

The motivation is always all about Dawson. Period. He thinks he is better than everyone else. He wants people to praise him for being better than everyone else. He holds everyone else in disregard, even Joey, the woman of his dreams. Oh, except when Jen was the woman of his dreams -- until he found out she was a horrible, horrible, crackhead whore. Then Jen became yet another piece of shit.

What bugs me most about Dawson is that he is obviously thought to be enviable by TPTB. Everyone wants his approval. Everyone seeks out his opinion. Everyone dies on the inside if turns his back on them.

Why? My guess it that it's simply the revenge of the nerdy powers that be. But it's not even enough that Dawson and his band of fellow social outcasts get to look down on the popular people, the jocks, and the cheerleaders. No. That's not enough. Dawson, the king of the social outcasts, has to look down upon his lowly minions.

GoodNightMoon, nailed it right on the head. Dawson wasn't the cool guy who took pity on the outcasts. He was an outcast, himself. Someone had to rise to the top of that little pyramid, and it was Dawson. So he used his "friends" to make himself feel better. Please see the 16th birthday rant for explicit details. See his drunken rant against Joey following the death of the Flash. It's all there in living color.

Unfortunately for Dawson, something happened during the six year run of Dawson's Creek. His friends grew up, while he remained the king of the outcasts. So he ends up alone, still king of the outcasts, still the wunderkind, but with no one to care about him except Joey and Pacey, who inexplicably allow him, their former lord and master, to have a place in their lives. Or should I say "IN THEIR LIFE", because their lives are now melded as one.

That, my friends, is irony. Oh, it's also justice.
